is there any way to unlock bootloader htc evo 3d without using htc dev method?
yes.. check in the dev section.. what hboot ru?
What is your hboot number ? If its anything above 1.49.0008 then yes you would have to use HTC dev to unlock your bootloader

with that hboot you HAVE to use the htc unlock method.
hi everybody, how to root evo 3d android 2.3.4 & hboot 1.49.0018.is there any tools to direct s-off without downgrade h-boot?
Sad to say but no not anymore because of the hboot being as high as it is now a year ago we could with no problem until HTC started raising the security level of the hboot witch means we will have to use HTC dev to unlock the bootloader then use the ruu's to downgrade the hboot and the leads us to the almighty and famous s off

He's correct ya have to downgrade first

i know i have been around long enough to know this but for some reason i can't think of the answer. i have rooted many phones and am content with flashing roms and thats about it. i have the new 2.89 firmware with the stock ics rom from virus and can't figure out, if i am already s-off but my new bootloader is locked is there a reason to want to unlock the bootloader if i am already s-off? i never really paid attention if it was locked before.
S-off > locked, so you're good to go.

flash Juopunutbear hboot from: http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
The JB hboot is similar to an Unlocked bootloader, but supports more commands & doesn't need you to unlock the bootloader via HTC Dev.
Since you are S Off, you can flash hboots & don't ever need to unlock via HTC dev again.

Well even if you did root without htcdev unlock, it still voids your warranty regardless

IT IS NOT THE SAME!believe me!if you don't unlock via htcdec(with other method) you can revert back to locked s-on.if you unlock with htcdev you can only go to relocked s-on so they know you messed with your phone.unfortunately, for hboot 1.5 there is no other method.only for 1.4

Just downgrade your hboot using cd method, use 1.40+revolutionary, use powduh/commonsens/meanrom and custom kernel and you will find your phone flying high... And at last you still can get back to haboot 1.50 locked

I don't know if the same is true for the GSM model, but doing the JuopunutBear (wire trick) method for S-OFF left the two CDMA Evo 3D's that I have with a ***LOCKED*** bootloader even though it was ***UNLOCKED*** previously, and those were both on hboot 1.5. The bootloaders are still ***LOCKED*** and I use custom hboots to be able to use the fastboot commands that a locked stock bootloader doesn't allow.

How can I update my h-boot to 1.58
I have now h-boot 1.57 stock ics and gsm
Can somebody tell me how pls
Are you s-off? If s-on, get s-off. after s-off: flash every hboot you like.
Whwre can I See which i have ?

Unless I'm mistaken, hboot 1.58 is CDMA only. Since you're GSM, it would be a bad idea. Afaik, 1.57 is the latest GSM.
I could be wrong as HTC numbers hboots very annoyingly.

Yeh as far as I know 1.58 is CDMA. Though why you would want to update your hboot is beyond me... generally speaking the lower your hboot the fewer problems you will have with it

1.57 is VM hboot. If you are S-Off search for the hboot thread by mpgrimm and download the 1.58. That one is not unlocked though. 1.58.5858 junuptobear is unlocked I think. It is there too.

Unlocked bootloader is no really necessary for most things if you are S-Off. The hboot thread is a great resource for all this.
I don't understand really sry
Because I'm from.germany
But when I wantet to unlock my bootloader at htcdev.com there comes comes always at the last step
Unlock tock check failed
Sorry, he did say gsm, although the VM leak had a hboot of 1.57.

Since you are s-off, find and download the appropriate gsm hboot (i know where cdma ones are but not gsm), rename the file (pg86img for cdma, not sure for gsm), put it on the root of your sd card, reboot into bootloader and flash it there.

You are already S-OFF with latest hboot. You dont need to unlock it. S-OFF is more than unlocked bootloader. If you want to root, you will have to flash custom bootloader 1st if you cannot unlock it. As you will not be able to flash recovery through fastboot without unlocking it though you are S-OFF. or you can flash a PG86IMG.ZIP containing a custom recovery.
then boot the custom recovery and flash superuser zip.
This will root your phone.
How can I Flash custom bootloader
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
i'm gonna try and explain this real easy:
1) Download you the hboot you want (I'd recommend this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172 )
2) Put the PG86IMG on the root of your sdcard (it means dont put it into any folder just place it outside)
3) Pull out battery.
4) Hold power and vol down button. The phone should boot into bootloader(white screen with fastboot recovery options etc)
5) select bootloader by pressing power button
6) It should check for the PG86IMG now. let it do its thing. when asked if you want to apply update press power up.
7) Let it complete and reboot
