Transfer between phones over WiFi & Auto sync over WiFi - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Transfer between devices over WiFi
Has anyone seen a reliable app for phone to phone transfers over wifi.
Thought I had found one in X-Link but it is very hit and miss if it sees the other device
Auto sync over WiFi
Is there an app that lets you sync over your home network to your computer without sitting at it?
All the apps i find that let you sync over wifi require you to set the connection up each time you want to do it. I can connect my USB cable quicker, I want to be able to get home press a button on the screen and it will sync (like HTC Sync does for me just now).

Test this program downlodable in google.... airdroid

Looking at the web page I need to be at my computer to get that to work, right next to my USB cable

I have just installed this App.
There is no sync option and I have to be at my computer to do anything, I want to sit on the sofa watching tv and tell my phone to sync my contacts and calendar over my wifi network.

Verizon Touch pro, some questions, have some issues (email, bluetooth), please help..

Well. I love this thing. I see people *****ing about video play back quality and blah blah blah....but really, im amazed with this thing.
I have a couple of things i need to get worked out. Im a friggen power user with my devices and like to not only use everything, but have it working like it should.
First issue....
I have 2 web mail accounts set up in my phone. Gmail and yahoo. the Gmail account gives me my notifications of new mail, but the yahoo account doesn't. Ill get an email in my yahoo account, my phone gets it at some point but doesn't tell me it came, and it shows the message as read already. Any suggestions?
the second issue has proven to be a b#tch. I cant get bluetooth syncing via active sync on my bluetooth dongled pc working. Ive put alot of time trying to figure this one out and it is a pain. I dont know where the problem stems from.....my pc's bluetooth stack, active sync on the pc, active sync on my tp, or bluetooth config on the tp.
Please help.

Don't know waht the issue is with this. I knwo you can only have 1 active profile that shows email count on the tab, but if you go to the email screen on the right side should list all unread email for each account.

Active Sync doesn't support bluetooth connections last time i checked. Closest thing you'll probably be able to do is find out what COM port your bluetooth dongle is using, set active sync to use only that COM port under connection settings, pair, and try to sync, but i think its required to use the USB cable.

I can only get it to work on USB and it's only on the USB ports on the back of the tower.
I have never used a cable to sync my Pro. Been using bluetooth on my Gen 1 Dell XPS since day one. I do recall on my iPaq 4700, for some strange reason the first time I had to use a cable after that worked fine. Use your computer to search for services on a device (Pro), once it finds the services and you pair it you should not have any problems.
Well, since it is possible to have a BT sync I would first make sure you can connect the phone to the computer.
You'll need to turn BT on for the phone and set it to visible mode so the computer to see it. Then follow the steps. Of course make sure your computer's dongle is working.
If you get a BT link then mess with active sync settings. Particularly see if the 'allow advanced network..." box is checked on your phone. For me if I keep it checked it won't work over USB, but BT may be different. The best I can offer you is to experiment and google.

[Q] Help me find an app that does...

Hey guys,
There are two apps that I saw described over the past few months somewhere but can't find.
One lets me auto-sync a folder on the phone to a folder on my PC as soon as the phone is connected to home wifi. This would be useful to keep pictures I take on the phone, easily synced to my home PC.
The other lets me manage wifi connections that require web login easily without having to re-enter the website info all the time.
Thanks.
could you possibly be talking about iSyncr, doubleTwist AirSync, WiFi File Explorer, WebSharing.....
wifi browser login and wifi web login... both will log you in to access points that need browser login after you set it up once...
Sweet Home Wifi Picture Sync will sync pictures with pc on home network...
Drop box also works well.

You might be thinking of Titanium Media Sync. It lets you automatically pick folders on your SD & sync them to Dropbox or a network folder. You can set Wifi or 3g.

View and Control Nokia 8 from PC

Hi all,
Just bought my Nokia 8 the other day. Got it for AUD$499! from Harvey Norman - who was out of stock - but price matched by JB Hi-fi.
I was using a Samsung Note 4, which was doggone slow. Might be resetting that one and putting it up for sale - any potential takers?
My Note 4 used SideSync, which connected to by PC via USB cable. Sidesynced allowed me to see and control my Note4 on my PC. I can do everything on the phone from my PC - I liked sending texts and SMS for example.
There doesn't appear to be an equivalent for the Nokia 8. I have seen alot of mirroring apps that require screen casting, but none which allows connection via USB.
The question - what is the equivalent out there to SideSync (which is only compatible with Samsung phones. I've tried it and it does not work). I've enabled USB debugging. The Nokia 8 says SideSync keeps closing. I can see the phone from my PC as it's connected by USB - so I can see the files on the phone from my PC - but cannot see the phone's screen or do anything to the phone.
Thanks all.
Hi,
You could try AirDroid if you know, which it gives you the option to control the phone and send texts and many other things. The only thing which i don't know if it suits you, is that it syncs through the wifi network... You connect the phone to your wifi network, and from your pc you go to a link that the app gives you and scan the QR code and thats it...
Try it maybe it will do the job for you.

Thank you for responding. I really want a USB connection to the PC as going over the air through my companies WiFi I am sure will slow things down. I have looked at Apowermirror and they want you to pay to use it and it's UI is a bit clunky. There's also Wondershare Go, but there doesn't seem to be an app on the playstore for screen mirroring, though I did do this with my Note 4.
MyPhoneExplorer
Hello, give a try to My Phone Explorer. It's free and very straight forward I think. I used it without issues.
If you Google it you'll find a link from fjsoft, that's the right one.
Good luck.
Hello, i use Vyzor to cast the screen of my N8 on my PC by using the usb connection.
The application can be used as free but if you need some quality you will need the paid version.

app to sync specific folders between android and pc via usb

I don't have time for wireless and my only wifi is my hotspot from my phone, so I suppose if there is a wifi phone to pc app that can use the phone as the wifi that could work, but I'd prefer the fastest usb method. I had it a little while back with the cheetah sync app but they stopped supporting it and I didn't get to install it on my new phone, so...
Anyone know what app if any can do this?? It's so far been proving not easy to find if at all. I guess no one is syncing via usb. Any ideas?
Not sure if synchronize ultimate can sync via usb but you could try.
Tasker should be able to do that as well, although this might be tricky to 'build'.
