Hi,
I just purchased an Atrix 4G from an online seller. My problem is that it has a custom rom (nottachtrix 1.2.6). I'm actually fine with that, tho the webtop is not working. All I see is the "bouncing" motorolla logo.
All I want is to be able to use the phone and use the Webtop and multimedia player. I have a docking station that comes with USB ports.
Here are some info about my phone:
System Version: 4.5.141.MB860.ATT.en.US
MODEL: MB860
ANDROID VERSION: 2.3.6
BASEBAND VERSION: N_01.87.00R
WEBTOP VERSION: OSHWT_U1_6.48.0
KERNEL VERSION: 2.6.32.56-MB860-faux123-GB-024 [email protected] #6
BUILD NUMBER: NottacTrix 1.2.6
I'm very new to this and have never tried (or see the need for me) rooting my previous android phones.
I also tried researching on how to restore to the stock rom but it seems that it can brick my phone.
Please help...
Also I already did a Factory reset but no luck in making webtop work.
Fastboot erase webtop, then flash 2.3.6 fixed webtop. You will find it in fruitcake backup thread.

Thanks! So basically, I'm going to reinstall the webtop using the 2.3.6 version of webtop?
Which one of these should I download from this topic?
ATT 4.5.140 - 2.3.6
2.3.6 webtop
Sorry for asking this noob question. How do I reinstall the webtop? I'm not familiar with fastboot and flashing rom....
I'm doing my research now, but if someone can guide me would really appreciate it.
I can't seem to find a step by step guide on how to do this (from a noob perspective)..
I know this thing should not be done by noobs, but hey, everyone started as a noob..

I am talking about erasing webtop as described there, but then flashing the CWM zip of 2.3.6 fixed webtop from recovery, and not flashing the .img from fastboot.

Okay. Can you please tell me if this is a correct way to do it. Someone said that I can just install CWM and flash the webtop and it should work.
Steps that I plan to take:
1. Download fixed 236-webtop
2. Install Quickboot from android market (found a tutorial in youtube by PCTECHCrew name "How to Flash a ROM with Clockwork Mod (CWM)")
3. Once installed, select recovery
4. Then select Install zip from SD Card
5. Select the file "fixed 236-webtop.zip"
6. Wait till it finishes
7. Select Reboot system now
Do I miss something important?
If this is correct, do I still need to erase the webtop or by using quickboot that I installed I dont have to since quickboot will take care of that?
anyone can confirm if this steps are correct?

Hi there
If you have Nottachtrix on, then you should have CWR on the device already.
First, place the weptop.zip on your sd card.
Then switch off your device.
power it on, and hold the (volume down button) until fastboot appears.
Scroll down (using the volume button) until you see Android recovery press the vol up button.
Once there, it will say if you running CWR and what version.
If not, you will have to do that first.
(Dont worry, this will not harm your phone) Try it out first.... and let us know.

Cool, go to Android recovery and press vol up. You should then be in CWR....... It should say that on the top somewhere......
Then Wipe Cache Partition, go down to "Yes" and select, once done
Choose Install zip from SD Card
Choose .zip from SD card
Go to where you have placed webtop.zip and select it
Select yes
Once done, pres back
Then to reboot.
Test your Webtop, and let us know.....

Just fastboot flash the stock recovery image, then flash an official dell update.pkg. Fixed.

you need to copy over the dell image to the sd card and then boot holding down the volume keys and power.
Once there (if you are using the clockwork recovery) install zip from cd card and select the image. If the stock boot image then select upgrade from sd card (or what ever it is).
The big thing is you need to pull the sd card out and get the ROM on it.

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373 And scroll down to the CWM section. It is best to install this via moto-fastboot. I dont all this last nigh started with the full 1.8.3 sbf and worked my way all the way through and everything installed correctly. You prob. cant instal the new one cause you have to delete a file with root explorer before installing the new one.
The tenfar cwm that I installed was a .img that I flashed using fastboot. If you want an easier solution, just install rom manager from the market and flash its version of cwm and install the rom that way. ATRIX is now officially supported. One thing to note with this method: the cwm does not allow installing a zip from an external sd card, so be sure to move the zip to the internal before installing.

I did not use the Tenfurs Recovery. Out of habit of using Clockworld Rom Manager- Eris, Droid, Captivate, that's what I did before reading up enough (overly excited, I know!). Now I'm stuck and cannot get past the boot logo. I keep looking around for a way to push Tenfurs recovery (or anything) using adb and I can't get things to work since I cannot boot. Any suggestions on steps to take?

How did you root? Do you have unlocked boot loader or are you trying to keep bootloader locked?
Which CWM version are you using? the newest one doesn't work with our phone. I found that out the hard way the other day when i tried to flash an ICS rom. You need to fastboot into your phone and use a cmd prompt to install 5.0.2.7 recovery.

Did you try flashing the recovery zip?
Sounds like you already have CWM.... Did you unlock your bootloader?
All that should be needed here is for you to flash the correct recovery, which I linked above. Assuming you did a backup, you could just restore. I'm guessing you wanted to flash CM9, if that's the case, you'll need to flash that recovery, go to mounts and storage, format data, system and cache, wipe data/factory reset, install CM9+optional Gapps.

Yes, bootloader was fine, the link in the video instructed me to clear flash, dismount, and format for clean install. After that, nothing, just back to duel-core. I can get to the normal fastboot, thats it. I have RSDLite. The link I wes provided above takes me to your video, but I still get page not found on the instructions.

For future reference, when flashing roms, go to backup/restore in recovery and backup. Titanium just backs up apps, etc. Recovery backs up your entire system and all data. But the link I posted above and spleef referenced has the fastboot commands for installing recovery, from there you'll be good to go.

Yeah you're basically stuck in terms of this. You should have installed cwm/bootmenu as it is designed to save you from such problems. Send it back to factory for service and they'll flash it clean and have it working.
You'll need a fastboot file which I don't think there is for the xt910s at the moment if you want to repair it manually.
Edit
Looked in this thread and there is a zip posted that could be used with fastboot and it flashes. If you're on GB, which I think this is for, you could try downloading it and flash only the system_signed.img by using moto-fastboot.exe . Since its only editing the system, it may just let you boot into it and then let you install bootmenu/cwm and restore a backup or have it there for safety from now on incase you mess up.

Thank you! but i don't installed CWM , Please Help me
Hello there!
This question might have appeared alot but I'll try to be as short and accurate as possible on the following:
About two weeks ago, I decided to root my Sony Live With Walkman (4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich) and now I'm thinking of installing Cyanogenmod 9 stable release. But I'll leave this mod for the last part and let us focus on the rooting process I've done.
I've used the following tutorial: talk.sonymobileDOTcom/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0
At first, I was unsuccesful but in the second try I had managed to root my device (Unlocked bootloader).
Being a bit tired over the official Sony ICS, I thought of putting Cyanogen to my device. This is where the things get confusing for me:
I've spotted multiple tutorials and each one is different and unclear to me. These two are the ones I'm thinking of as the most reliable sources:
- wiki.cyanogenmodDOTorg/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Live_with_Walkman:_Full_Update_Guide
- technologic101.wordpressDOTcom/2012/03/12/tutorial-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-9-0-ics-on-your-se-xperia-2011-device/
So, I have Cyanogen9 coconut, drivers, fastboot, google apps and proper FTF file downloaded.
But what now? Which tutorial is better and accurate for my state of device? Am I risking a brick by doing this? What are the current downsides of Cyanogenmod9 for this device?
Please, write your opinions, explain or link me to the proper guides for my case. I am grateful for any kind of information you give me!
Thanks!

Is kernel the TFT file or the Cyanogenmod zip file (about 125MB)? And how do I flash this with Flashtool?
Boot.img inside the zip is the kernel. Extract and flash that file using fastboot. After flashing the kernel, start your phone and enter recovery. From recovery flash the zip files

Okay then you have done have of the work.
Now backup all your contacts, apps, sms's etc. Then power off your device and boot into fastboot mode. Then take the kernel from the CM9 zip and flash it. After that start your phone and just when the logo gets brighter press the volume down button with which you will boot into the CWM recovery. After that navigate to backup and restore and backup your rom. Then do a wipe data/factory reset ,then wipe chache and after that go to advanced and then wipe the Dalvik Cache. After that go to install zip from sd card and then choose from sd card. then navigate to your rom and flash it. After the flashing is done flash gapps and then reboot.
Note: To navigate in CWM use your volume keys and use the home button to select.
To enter Fastboot: Plug the usb cable side into the phone and while you are plugging it into the computer keep
your volume up key pressed.
To flash a kernel: Put the kernel you extracted from the zip into your fastboot folder. Then open a command
prompt in that particular directory ( in Windows 7 press shift in a blank place and right click).
Then enter this command fastboot flash boot boot.img(Your phone must be in fastboot
mode for this.)
In my signature, there's a guide how to install a custom rom/custom kernels, maybe this could help you!
I would use the cyanogenmod full update guide :good:
You don't need any ftf, you flash a custom rom with clockworkmod (cwm), but this should be explained in the guide

Thank you, you've cleared alot of things up for me.
I hope I'll get some time to try the whole thing out and write about it here.

Welcome.
Oh, before I get myselft into this, am I free of installing any drivers? Since I've installed some drivers for rooting purposes, I'm not sure if I need to install these drivers I've downloaded for CM9

No, just the fastboot drivers to flash the kernel. Go to flashtool installation folder > drivers and install all of them for all devices, that should be all :good:
Ran into a problem with ROM Manager :/ It's supposed to offer me recovery mode by rocking the volume up or down while device is rebooting, but none of these work (device boots normally).
Any idea on how to solve this?

I'm not sure about that... all I know is that my phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked.
So how and which custom kernel should I flash then?

It depends. If you wanna flash any CM or AOKP roms you have to flash thier respective kernels. If you want to flash any stock based roms you can flash any ICS or GB kernel you want like Mesa, Panic kernel etc.
As for how to flash a kernel refer to my post on the page before.

Ah, all these processes are confusing me so I apologize for forgetting about that! Reminded now.
So, to enter Clockwork recovery mode, my phone has to be connected to the PC with usb debugging on?

No. For entering the CWMR you have to press the volune down button when the bootup logo gets brighter. For this either you must have CWMR install or else you must have a custom kernel

That didn't work. When the Sony logo gets brighter, a blue LED lights up for that moment.
In cwm, selecting 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' opens up a box where my phone model is displayed. After that, it says it's unsupported and I can manually select either 2.x or 3.x+. I've selected the 3.x+ one and in the menu it says 'Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.X.X.X
Shall I try with 2.x? I have no clue here.
System setting>about phone
Mind telling us your kernel version? From there we would know your current kernel
