When you trade your phone in to BB do they care if its rooted? Should I relock my phone and flash a stock ROM or just wipe it and give it to them.

Depends on the best buy. Yes they aren't suppose to take any phone in if its been rooted or flashed to another network. In my store I'm the only one that knows about rooting ans such and everyone else cares less. They just want phone to work or they have iPhones. I wouldn't take it but my Co worker would be like," thats a a cute blue Android when it boots. "

Like I said I was flashed to Boost. All I did was whipped out the donor phone.
Well I just relocked my phone and am currently running the updates to get it back to stock. I figured going stock for a week might make me appreciate the awesomeness of the Evo LTE that much more.

Well at my local store he showed me where if I trade in my EVO, I'd get $150 toward the 3d. So basically if the 3d is $199 on contract, it would only cost $50.....good deal right there

sold my evo for $315 on ebay! ( rooted flashed with CM7 ) with original box, extra bat, and otterbox. so yeah, if you have the patience and know how to make a desirable Ebay ad.
Now Im on a intercept until the E3d drops. I found a hero on ebay for $35 so I may see how it runs CM7, the intercept is laggy with foyo and is a crapy phone.

Wouldn't the buyer then need to flash a Sense Rom in order to change the phone to his account or can you enter your MSL code into the phone on CM7?

If you trade your phone into Sprint, BB, or Radio Shack do you need to un-root it first or can you just throw a stock Sense Rom back on the phone and leave it rooted?

Yes. The person would need a sense rom to be able to activate the phone.

I was able to enter the service mode under the sense rom. In order to change the MDN and MSID off my numbers. Ill email the guy and let him know how to chage it.
you need to flash back to stock rom. maybe at best buy they would not know to check but sprint and RS do check

As long as you can get in with your MSL# you should be able to activate then.
Still wondering if we need to actually un-root the phone in order to trade in though as in S-ON.

I am also thinking it may be a situation like with the HTC rezound. Where we need the HTC unlock method to get the first 75% then some crazy trick like touching wires to certin places to get the rest of the full s-off

Grounding the contact just forces the phone into download mode so they can unlock it. The only other way to get there (that I know of) is to softbrick the phone by breaking the hboot signature.
Damn. People had to get really clever to get to that. That's amazing. Hopefully our way forward will be simpler and safer. I'll bet many people traded the the rezound for something simpler to S-off

But what if it's a shattered screen and it has to go through that 3rd party insurance. Will they not send you a new phone if you void the warranty?

Hmm no clue guess it depends on that 3rd party but like I said I'm sure cracked screeens are ok or.something but not bricks. Warrenty is generally to get it swapped out through sprint when it totally dies or through HTC

I wouldn't think that a rooted phone would be worth more than a non-rooted phone. Having said that, though, the rooted phone may sell easier since the work to root it has already been done. It really depends on what the buyer wants. A power user would more likely be inclined to grab the rooted phone, while somebody else may or may not care. So long as both phones have clean ESN's you shouldn't have a problem selling either one.

Personally I always unroot my phones before selling them. My thought behind this is that the average Joe doesn't understand a rooted phone and may be scared or put off by it. Any techie that wants a rooted phone can probably just do it themselves. In my eyes you are eliminating potential customers who may be put off by the idea of a rooted phone. I don't think of rooted as a selling point. Just my thoughts.

I just put my s-off evo on craigslist.. Trying to trade for the gs3.. I just got a hit too Sucks cause i love HTC phones so much.. Every smartphone i ever had was HTC but im so sick of the way they treat the dev community.. I main reason im wanting to trade is kernel source.. Making us wait months for it is BS.. By the time they post it it will be no good cause there will be a new update out 3 days later.. Its crazy how many people i have seen on line jump ship to sammy because of this.. HTC needs to get there ishh together.. lol watch my luck ill go threw with the trade and HTC will release kernel source for the LTE 2 days later!! hahaha Ill be pissed!

I remember "feeding the panda" but I'm not sure if that made it s-off. I will have to check when I get home.. I had the Evo 4g, Evo 3d, and Evo LTE. All were rooted. That's why I am unsure.

Well I was googling data speeds for the amaze and I saw that ppl were getting around 12-15 mbps and around 20 mbps when on the contract well not really a contract right now I have the unbranded telus amaze and most times I get around under 1mbps and I also researched buying a foreign phone you wouldn't get the full potential data speeds is all this true?

My verizon dna is for sale.
This phone works but it gets very warm when doing any thing demanding and the battery life drops fast.
Its more of a parts phone at this point.
Would rather sell it face to face here in Seattle.
Other then that its in 99% new condition.
Everyone will tell you swappa since xda isn't a place to ask for trades or sale any more

Nothing, fully stock with the latest update and not rooted.
The only thing i have done to it is to cut off the usb cover.

You could try through VZW. I bought an Inc LTE on eBay and one day it just refused to come up. Stuck in qcomdload mode. Called up VZW and they sent a replacement.
