I have a nook tablet (not rooted) that will not connect to my Droid X2 (rooted) tether wireless connection. I am able to connect to the tether wireless connection with my laptop though. Thoughts or somehow to resolve this issue??
Your Droid2 is likely broadcasting in ad-hoc mode. Android cannot by default, connect to ad-hoc networks, only infrastructure. Your laptop can do both.
Look around the forums here for the ad-hoc fix.
thanks
Thank you for the response, I will have to check around to find that fix.

Is there a way to tether via wifi through the Eris that is NOT an ad-hoc network? I am trying to find a way to connect my Kindle when on the go and no access to wifi so I can get books. The Kindle cannot connect to an ad-hoc style, but rather says it needs an "infrastructure" connection or something similar to that.
Any help is appreciated.
Hey All,
First post here in the Galaxy tab forum but I frequent the XDA phone forums. I have a question (and I have done plenty of searching online and in the forums) but can not seem to get this to work.
My Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI only is rooted and has the newest TASK650 ROM installed. I am using the Motorola Photon 4G (rooted as well) with Barnacle WIFI tether. The Photon creates an adhoc network.
I have installed ZT-180 adhoc switcher on my Galaxy Tab and can not seem to get it to connect to my phone for tethering. I have made sure the SSID on both the ZT-180 app on the tab and the tethering app (Barnacle) match.
In the ZT-180 app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI only, I switch from infrastructure mode to adhoc and it will not connect nor does it seem to do anything.
When I switch back to infrastructure mode it will connect to my home internet but switching to adhoc mode does nothing. Barnacle WIFI tethering on my phone is running and I can confirm I can connect to a computer for access. I have disabled WEP security just to be sure.
I know this topic has been discussed before but I could not seem to find the answers so I came here.
I hope you all can help a brother out.
Thanks again!
-Matt
Anyone?
Edit* i was able to connect my phone and tab via bluetooth and turn on Barnacle tether and it works. Thanks
Hi, I've searched the forums for similar questions and didn't find anything.
I have a laptop that can connect only in 802.11b & 802.11g. When I run wireless tethering in my phone (enabling ap in wireless connections because I have the stock firmware), my laptop can't find the access point. It looks like the phone is using 802.11n by default when doing the wireless tether, preventing my laptop from connecting. If instead of using the built-in wireless adapter of my laptop, I use a wifi usb stick with 802.11n, I can connect without problems. I would like not having to use the stick, though.
How can I disable 802.11n when doing wireless tether in my phone?.
Maybe I have to download an app from the market in order to instruct my phone in doing the wireless tether in g mode?
Thanks in advance.
No one has an answer?

Hey guys,
I am currently really desperately looking for a way to get Internet from my DSL-enabled Notebook to my Galaxy S2 and my Asus TF700T Tablet. I am in Finnland on a hotel so I don't have 3g here.
So the facts:
My Laptop has a Wifi Bigfoot Wirless n 1103 network card without Bluetooth.
First I tried to do is setting up a Virtual Wireless Hotspot which kind of worked, but only for a few moments. Got a connection on both devices but then the Hotspot somehow disappeared. Don't know why. Maybe it is due to the Network Card, which is built for good gaming performance over Wifi.
Anyone an idea whats wrong with my Virtual Wifi Hotspot?
Next thing I tried is to set up an Ad Hoc- Wifinetwork over the PC which kind of worked, but both Android devices can't see ad hoc networks and there seemed to be no working wpa_supplicant for jellybean. Both Android devices are on PAranoidAndroid 2.99 by the way and the Laptop is on Win 7.
Does anyone know a way to enable this to see Ad Hoc Wifi networks?
So next thing I tried is Tethering over USB with Android Reverse Tethering which worked for the Tablet but not for the Galaxy S2 for a reason I dont know.
So does anyone know, why it does not work on the S2?
Next I tried setting up a Wifi Hotspot on the Tablet with the app Wifi Tether which kind of worked, but unfortunately this is an ad hoc network which again my Galaxy S2 can't see.
Does anyone know an app that creates an infrasturctured Wifi Hotspot instead of ad hoc?
Then I tried setting up Bluetooth Tethering from Tablet to GS2 which I didn't got to work (Connection established but don't know how to get the Internet working then.
Anyone got an idea about this?
Anything else I could try?
I really didn't believe that this is so hard to do
Hi, I happen to be usually in a place where the network is mac filtered, so I can only connect with my mobile and not with my tablet.
I can't tether wifi to wifi, as it's not possible with the mobile.
The tablet (Pipo S3) doesn't has bluetooth. I haven't been able to change it's mac address, but it could solve the problem if I could find the way.
So, as bluetooth is not an option, the only thing remaining is doing it via usb. I've googled and found a lot of tether apps, but from android to computers, no from android to android via usb.
Does someone know how to do it? Thanks.
