hey i have htc flyer GB 2.27.720.2 S-OFF I got a OTA UPDATE to HC 3.60.720.1 my question is if i update to hc will i be able to S-OFF and make calls like i do on my GB and if i want to update to hc is it necessary to turn it to S-ON and then update or can i update it directly without any problems. Thank you
Good question mine is going to arrive Monday so my aims to upgrade to honeycomb but wanna know if I upgrade can I still unlock bootloader and s off.
Do not ota it will not end well for you. there is a hc rom from leedroid, that allows calls but no bluetooth

whats the problem with ota?
You are soff the ota will not be able to over write the hboot. You will end up with gb hboot and honeycomb system and a flyer that won't boot

I would suggest you go to honeycomb with soff using method listed in development, but there is also a method to go back to son. It depends on your long term goals

I tried flashing the stock Brightstar RUU over S-off after an unsuccessful OTA update (which I now know is a no-go), with the above result and have found this thread.
Even after being charged for a day, Flyer won't power on, even pressing power/volume down or just power for 20 seconds. Just a flashing orange light. The blink hiccups once after about 9 seconds of holding power/volume down, then resumes blinking without any screen activity. Short of sending back to HTC (not worth it to me unless it's less expensive than I'm guessing), is it bricked/borked?
My guess is mismatch of parts that is not allowing your flyer to charge. Others have managed to take of the back cover, disconnect the battery, and charge it independent of their flyer. I think you need to gain enough charge to get back into hboot and correct the mismatch

Thats exactly what you need to do, once the battery is removed and charged you need to follow the instructions show in the below post TO THE LETTER, if this sis done correctly it works EVERYTIME. If you need any assistance along the way PM me as i have helped many people in the same situation as you and am almost always contactable through XDA via PM

Don't do anything at all to the phone until (hopefully) bftb0 responds here with detailed instructions. Absolutely do not try to run the RUU from a PC to try to re-flash the stock phone ROM, it could brick it in this instance.
bftb0 will want to know what HBoot version you are on. 1.49 S=OFF, 1.47 S=ON, or what.

Thanks, like I said hopefully btbf0 will chime in here. He is the expert at unbricking. Be comforted by the fact that more than likely it is not really bricked, just a little hiccup that's more than likely recoverable.
btbf0's first step will likely detail how you can go from 1.49 S=ON to 1.49 S=OFF. Having S-OFF enables you even more choices for unbricking.
Probably the easiest thing would just to put the flashback pb(blahblah)img.zip on the SD card and boot with the volume button down.
But I'd wait for bftb0 to chime in.

I definitely appreciate the help even though the phone decided to fix itself... would you recommend flashing the s=off bootloader next time I update my ROM to provide increased recovery ability or no?

I would recommend achieving S=OFF as soon as you're comfortable in doing so. Just please be careful and ask questions first if you have any doubt.
I'm definitely not the expert, so someone else might have to answer some of your questions.
1. I believe that's true re: flashing from hboot.
2. Nandroid does NOT save the bootloader, ever.

I swear it says please change a battery. I got stuck in hboot when i tryed to unroot from DasBamf 2.0 GingerBread. I flashed the downgradepgi05mg found in the unrevoked 3 click root method folder and now i cant flash anything because it wont charge the battery. Should i buy a more powerful usb charger like the one for the iPad or should i just keep asking for suggestings? Im guessing it wont charge since it can barely keep up with the screen being on full brightness
Try charging with the phone off for a couple hours. BUT, if you have that security warning you have bigger problems. I don't know how to explain to you how to fix it for sure but don't freak out. I would let it charge turned off for at least a couple hours and then jump on andirc chat in the #thunderbolt room and look for someone to walk you through it. I believe it happens when you try to flash a signed RUU that is older than the version you are currently running. Like I said tho I don't know the steps exactly to fix that but i THINK you can. Link to andirc thunderbolt chat is in the sticky root thread.

thats exactly wut i did, you know the old ruu thing, it said main version is older and i started freakin out, i almost had a scaregasm! i found a newer ruu and i cant flash it thanks to this problem.it wont charge because the second i try to charge it, it turns on automatically, it would normally take me the clockworkmod recovery but it takes me to the hboot crap, i just want to solve the charging problem, no suggestions on how to unstick my bottom from hboot please.
Find someone with a tbolt, use their phone to charge your battery or buy a dock with spare battery charger.
Yeah, you will need an external means of charging the battery. This thread ->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008824
Explains the security warning and how to fix it in some cases, BUT it depends on what RUU you flashed. What version number was the RUU that caused all of this?

yer a genious, but i know no one with a tbolt and *GASP* ....... i will just buy an extra battery, they usually have about half charge and its not like i didnt need one in the first place, hopefully i can fix my phone. do you know how bad it is with all the annoying sprint evo commercials and the iphone comercials and the tablet commercials, and no calling? didnt tghink so
You are having tbolt withdraws. Step back, deep breath. It'll be ok. Go to Verizon, I'm sure they'd even let you do it there...the commercials mean nothing to me because I know Sprint and ATT are full of ****.

uhmmmm pretty sure unrevoked hasn't released anything for the thunderbolt yet.
So I would assume your flashing the wrong file. Or didn't follow the unroot guide in XDA dev.
I installed an incorrect Rom over and Incorrect Bootloader and it resulted in the Flyer freezing and not being able to do anything. I let the battery drain down completely and when I went to charge it up again all it does is the red light flashes on and off which I guess means it's not charging.
I can get into the bootloader by holding power and the bottom volume button but it says there is not enough battery power to do anything. Is there anything I can do?
I tried putting the PG41IMG.ZIP file onto the SD card and booting but that doesn't seem to have achieved anything either? Is there anything I can do I'm at my wits end with this now.
Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Wait for help from Globaltron on this forum. He's seen it all before. He can get you on IRC and walk you through unbrick procedures.

Leave your device on the HTC wall wart charger. When the boot image and recovery are messed up, charging is affected and will be very slow or possibly not work at all.

Thanks Globatron, However I have finally managed to fix this problem.
I left the Flyer plugged into the Wall even though it was flashing to show it wasn't charging for about 24 hours, the light still continued to flash however when I booted into Fastboot and tried to flash a honeycomb RUU.exe it let me do it this time without the 'Not enough battery power' message that I had been getting.
Lesson learned, I shall not fiddle anymore.

That's great news. Don't worry about fiddling with it, just be sure you have it fully charged and that you know the full procedure for what you need to do.
Same situation
I keep getting the low battery error and am stuck in the same state you were. I let the damn thing charge for two days and the LED was green. The battery is as charged as it is gonna get.
I tried on multiple machines, multiple VM's, and same result.
The RAW RUU won't load with fastboot.
Question, what state did you have the view in when you ran the RUU? What I mean is were you at the boot menu in fastboot mode or what?
HTC Flyer won't boot completely, please help!

I have a similar situation to JussieXo. I own an HTC Flyer and recently purchased a 2nd used flyer for a birthday present for my son. The used flyer was running CM9. I thought "no problem", I rooted my flyer I will just use the RUU and reinstall the stock software. I started with a full charge battery. All didn't go well, after several hours and trying many ideas on several forums I can only boot to the white HTC screen. I have now drained the battery to the point that it would not turn back on last night. This morning it would come back on and the red power light has stopped flashing and remains solid (good news!). I have left it powered off and recharging for now. My question is can you help me get past the white HTC screen. I have read this and several other posts. I see you wanted JussieXo to download teamviewer...I have done this, if you could PLEASE help me get this working it will make one little boy and his mother very happy for his birhtday.
It is currenlty rooted using revolutionary with S-off, hboot is 6.11.1111. When I am in the HBOOT menu and I select recovery it will only load to the white HTC screen.
Try following the Globatron instructions to go from HC hboot back to GB hboot. If you had cm9 I think that was on the HC hboot and you need to be back on GB to run the RUU files to return to stock GB.

i tried to update OTA rather than running the RUU but to no avail the unlock bin wouldnt stick or allow me to get to the unlock screen on my phone... but after reading Reapers post i did the RUU update and POOF it stuck
I've searched the forums and consulted Google and for the life of me cannot find anywhere how one actually figures out the HBOOT version of their HTC Flyer. I have Honeycomb, if it makes a difference.
Shut your Flyer down completely. Be sure fast Boot is turned off in the power settings from your Settings menu.
-Wait for about 10 seconds after you powered down.
-Hold the Volume Down button for about 3 seconds.
-Keep holding Volume Down and then press and hold down Power simultaneously.
-So you should be holding Volume Down and Power at the same time.
The tablet should now boot into Hboot menu.
Your Hboot should be listed near the top.
***I kinda exaggerated the wait times and time you need to hold the buttons. It really should take just a few seconds of holding the buttons. But until you get the hang of the timing, this should be fool proof.
Thanks, worked perfectly. Also, is there any sort of tutorial for using HTCdev Unlock Bootloader for the Flyer? I swear that there's no useful documentation for doing anything dev-related on this device anywhere.
what is your end goal? HTC Dev unlock is in most cases not the best solution

you need to downgrade to gingerbread s off then use the s off hc method. there are a couple different routes to do so, and all do require a bit of knowledge or at least solid reading comprehension to accomplish
