[Q] Help to buy my 1st tablet - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks
I just decided to buy my brand new 1st tablet and i need some help here.... i cant decide about those two
Transformer Pad 300 x Toshiba Excite AT305 (as long im noob i cant post the link to the gsmarena comparing both... sorry =\)
im very impressed with both... but we always will have pros and cons
toshiba at305
pro
- has more ports available than asus
- better stereo speaker built-in (SRS sound enhancement)
- better proc and better GPU
- reads sd/microsd
cons
asus has a better UI ( will we have the Chameleon UI available soon???)
Asus transformer 300
pro
- LTE support
- 16GB ROM
- a better camera but NO FLASH as long toshiba has
- sns integration
- sms, mms available
- better display
cons
- again.. no flash camera (i never know when i will need this flash camera)
i'm totally NOT interested in dock stations or anything like that... i already have a nice dell xps i7 with me wherever i'm.. im looking for a nice tablet to read something on my free time or watch some video lessons easier while im on the bus or somewhere else....
Asus is at least 60 dollars cheaper than toshiba... but.. as long i already saved the money to buy the toshiba... there is no diff to me to spend this money or not.... =\
and my doubts are:
1. can i install any ics on my tablet or only the the ics for that tablet? like... if i want to install the stock rom or any other else, like samsung tab or other ones.. it will brick my tablet?
2. anyone has one of these tablets? if yes, mind to say something about them?
3. is there any custom rom for toshiba? i couldn't find any...
4. and custom rom for asus?
Thanks for help folks!!! =)

Based on the comparison: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4692&idPhone2=4596, the Toshiba Excite AT305 is a better choice. No, you cannot install any ICS on your tab; it has to be made specifically for it. You can keep check here for any roms which may come for the Transformer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1582, but none for the Excite yet. You may also want to consider something other than your choices (if you want the tab for modding and flashing roms) which has more development and similar specs e.g. The Eee Pad Transformer Prime: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1414.

thanks for reply... i've noticed this Transformer Prime thread before but there is any custom roms yet (or perhaps im a totally noob on android area and i couldnt notice if there is a rom for that)... they have some blob files, tweaks, root, and downgrade.. anything like in the Samsung Galaxy Tab thread, where they have loads of custom roms over there...
and... about the ics... even the stock one... i cant?? and, do you think if has any chance to come any nice custom roms to toshiba like we have to asus and samsung? because, as long toshiba doesnt has too much ""expertise"" in tablet field (apart thrive) i dont know if we can expect a large crowd to buy this new awesome tablet....
thanks!

another doubt
can i send sms/mms and use as phone thru some of both?? or maybe both???
Thanks!

any more help here please? =)

If you have a laptop+smartphone, it's not like you need a tablet now. So I'm personally waiting until next year to buy one. By then Quad core would be more common and cheaper and I want to see how w8 tablets will perform.

There are custom roms available for the Prime (Here are a few: Virtuous Prime, SKANKWICH CM9, and Team Eos Transformer Prime Nightlies. Yes, i'm sure you cannot use another device's rom on your device (unless they have the same - or very similar - hardware e.g. A100 and A500).

yeah... i have a laptop and my smartphone is a nokia 5800... so.. its not so that smart.. eheheh =)... i want to buy a tablet because i waste at least 2 to 2 hours and half in bus every single day... so.. i want to study during this time... i have loads and loads of pdfs to read and video lessons to watch and while im at home is almost impossible to do this... so... at least if im in the bus im alone and i can study or read... or do anything else i cant do in my laptop ((just because weights around 3,5kg... its not so good to stand this in my legs and so on))... so... thats why i want to buy a tablet... watch some stuffs... reads another stuffs.... casually watch a nice movie or listen music... its more to study... and... as long the asus is cheap worth it... but i loved the stereo speakers on toshiba and some stuffs also....
see? im quite confused here =\

why i asked again if its possible to get the UI from samsung or asus... because i have this same topic in another big forum and a user there said
Unless someone or you yourself makes custom roms with htc or samsung ui on top of it - you cannot directly flash the firmwares of other devices on to it

sorry for ask so much.. its because this kind of stuff in my country is very... very... very pricey.... i mean.... really... really pricey... so.. as long my mom is in usa i have only one shot to buy this... i cant go there just to change to another one even if i wanted....
thanks for reply!! =)

guys...
i was reading here - http://www.mobiletechreview.com/tablets/Asus-Transformer-Pad-TF300.htm - that this Asus DOES NOT has Gorilla Glass.... is this is for real??? if yes i dont want to buy this one.... who wants a expensive tablet without Gorilla Glass???
im really about to buy the toshiba one... despite my fear to cant find nice custom roms as we can find to samsung tab or asus prime....
thanks! =)

guys
after i discovered the lack of 3g ((i'd rather a 3G than wi-fi, because i can use 3g anytime, but i cant use wi-fi anytime, most part of my day im not at my job, sometimes im visiting a customer of something, so i need 3G)) on Toshiba AT305, i started to find another tablet, and i founded the Motorola Xoom 2... but this one has some faults, like:
cons
1. no ics til July
2. the charger is the same port of usb, so, if i use something ((like a external hard drive)) i need to check if the battery is good enough...
3. no full sd port
4. no orientation lock button
5. no ics custom roms anywhere
cons
1. some kind of waterproof protection
2. if i buy motorola in my country i have warranty, toshiba not
so... which one i chose:
the one ((toshiba at305)) that was released this month and i can upgrade to JellyBean after its launch and i will still be missing 3g OR i get one where i have 3G + wifi + some nice stuffs BUT probably i will no get JellyBean update and i will still be missing some nice features from toshiba?
Which one do you chose?
Thanks!!

anyone else to help me out here???
Thanks! =)

ITS DONE!!!

Already posted in the Folio thread...
Toshiba is very new to Android!
But i agree that their support for software issues on Folio is equal to null!

Buyer beware, try before buy.
Sure, just like the Folio it might have great hardware (except screen) but I
would not trust.
Every 10" Android has ****ty screen and bad software. They may be able to replace the screen, add $200 to the price and place Honeycomb on it but will
that mean its bugfree ??

We are talking about a new OS on new hardware, most sure that it will have serious bugs. The problem is not the bugs, because most of software have bugs and android is no exception, the problem is that Toshiba is not interested as far as we know to correct it, if they were interested Folio will be working fine by now.
But software development is not only about correcting errors but also about improvement. I don't see any of it from Toshiba until now.
screw the new folio! i'd love to see THIS INSANE GUI ported to our folio

This guys are using a one (with a tegra 2 inside) to powerup a deskop enviroment! This is brilliant!
This sure demonstrate that Folio as enough power to have decent software running in it! To sad that Toshiba doesn't understand this!
And isn't Honeycomb is Froyo!

Man, think about the possibilities if we have honeycomb and some software like this.
Than we would be possible to use our folio as desktop by using the dock and connecting to a tv or pc screen

I think this new folio looks great. Only hope the device building material won't be as cheap as our folio...
Does this new tablet got a name ?
More rumors here
Who would thrust Toshiba again?
I won't. They don't support their products. Hardware wise they are okay, but what's the purpose of having a tablet if it doesn't work well with the shipped software. We are still waitting for official flash support. Thank God we have FolioMod!
Many manufactures are suffering from this same problems, good hardware but aweful software.
Sure is pretty, but will it be usable?
what is its cpu?

[Done] I purchased a galaxy tab 8.9

Hey guys!
I am in the market for a new 7" android tablet. My motivation for getting one is so that I can read PDFs on the go. I am a student and being able to read stuff on the go is a huge plus to me and my phone's 4.3 inch screen, be that it is huge real estate for a phone, is just too small for reading.
Why specifically 7 inch? Well, when I discussed with friends, I learned that 7 inch tablets are much lighter and easier to carry around. Plus they are easier to pull out off your bag and read on a cramped bus, and given that I go to college the university shuttle is *very* cramped. Plus they are cheaper. So, there it is. I am hunting for a good 7 inch tablet.
I have two options in mind right now. (A) Amazon kindle fire. It is dirt cheap and does the job, i.e. read PDFs. Cons, it is a very basic tablet and is very underpowered. It has other drawbacks, such as no SD card slot, no out of the box market support and it runs Gingerbread. Eww. (B) Samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus. It is great, nice and everything and it is Honeycomb and is well powered.
I want to choose a Tablet that has an unlocked bootloader, has the least hardware/software issues and glitches and that has a vibrant dev community. So, people please suggest a tablet in this vein!
Thanks in advance!
Galaxy tab for sure.
Couple of gals I know have KF, it's cheap...and for it's specs it's pretty snappy

I read about the Galaxy Tab 7.7 inch. Man, I hate to buy a Galaxy Tab 7.0 at the cusp of the release of the 7.7... It is such a ***** to buy a piece of tech, just to see it get outdated in a week or a month!
I hate all these companies releasing gadgets soo quickly!
Edit:
Does anyone know the purported price of the 7.7" one? If it is too costly, I'll close my eyes and pick the 7.0". Else, I may have to wait!
Depending on your price range, there's a good one on groupon

Guys, I just learned that the Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus has some issues:
1. Something called SOD (sleep of Death) 2. Some WiFi troubles.
I tried asking the people in the Galaxy Tab 8.9 forum about issues it has. I didn't get a reply yet.
I have a few queries though. Compared to a 7 inch tablet, how less portable is a 8.9 inch one? Is it just as portable that I should be able to pull it out in a crowded bus and read a PDF file on it just fine?
Secondly, the 8.9 does NOT have a SD card slot. Now, that is a downer. No way to freely expand memory.
BUT: The Galaxy 8.9 has ICS/CM9 ROMs!!! That alone can sway me towards Galaxy Tab 8.9. Granted the 7.0 plus may get ICS too, but looks like it hardly has any ROMs at all. And there was one thread there asking whether devs are looking into coding for it and the reply was the devs may wait till official ICS is out, since it is a PITA to dev without proper drivers available. Hmm...
What do you guys say?

Well, I am not planning at Transformer prime level monies! As I said in the OP, I am planning to get a 7-8 inch tablet for the portability.
I am considering the Galaxy Tab 8.9 vs Galaxy tab 7.0 plus. As far as portability is concerned, is the Galaxy tab 8.9 just as portable as the 7.0 plus? For instance, can I pull either of them out of my bag in a crowded bus and read a PDF (of course while sitting).
Well, I don't have a lot of experience with any of them except the xoom. I've owned one for almost a year now. It's a bit larger than what you're looking for but when it comes to custom roms, mods, or what have you, there's plenty to choose from. The bootloader can be unlocked so there's already a bunch of ICS roms available for it (CM9 included). Plus a pretty good selection of custom kernels to choose from. I'm not sure about the Xyboard. Is it un-lockable? Don't know. Whatever you buy, do your homework. If you can't unlock it, I'd pass. Unless you don't care about changing things.
Custom roms will get you things like support for external USB drives, keyboards, mice and what have you. Perhaps they are coming with support for those things built in now. I don't know. They are things worth having though. IMHO.

Do you find your Xoom portable? I.e. is it easy to take out in the bus to read? Seems like this is my standard portability test!
Is it too heavy or can you easily hold it in your hand and read stuff on it?
EDIT: So, now I have the choice of the Xoom, Tab 7.0 plus and 8.9!!! Damn it. I started with 7.0 plus and now the list has grown to 3!
I'll just go to Best buy and try all three of them and see which I like best. Plus the best bang for the buck factor too...
Well, I have a friend who has a Kindle Fire and, well, to tell you the truth, I don't see mine being any harder to get out of the bag than that thing. It's something though that I can't really say is right for you or not. For me, if the money isn't an issue, I'd go for more screen real-estate any time. They aren't THAT big. Just my thoughts on it. You might feel differently.
What about the Acer tablets?
I know the Acer Iconia 100 is on the way out but I'm sure there will be something to replace its 7" form factor. I've been looking at the Acer Iconia 200 - WiFi only, SD card slot, 8 or 16GB memory. good prices (sub $400 for the 200). Micro USB and full size USB host. Most of the reviews have been pretty positive that I have seen. And the 200 has ICS now.

Size I'm sure is an issue, and you want more portability...sooooo just go buy one dude, they alp have return policies, and who knows...usually gut feeling is wrong, and the other choice is right.

I was going to tell you about the galaxy tab before I even see your choices. I had the 10.1 before, and I have to say that Samsung have the best devices ever. Go for the Tab definetly

I think I was taken :(

I bought a Nextway Fast 9 X from spemall.com as shown here:
http://www.spemall.com/Nextway-F9X-...PS-Screen-2G-Ram-1-5GHz-4K-Video-Black_g.html
After fully charging the tablet I started using it and it froze. I then restarted it and its froze a total of 5 times. Its had errors with the launcher, when opening the apps tab all the images would look like the background but pixelated.
Here is a link to the pictures i took: http://s1232.beta.photobucket.com/user/xstingstreetx/library/Defective
Next, I was able to disable some things for the tablet to run properly without crashing. However, this thing score terrible on benchmarks and is VERY slow moving. The processor is actually 1.08Ghz not 1.5.
I was able to root it thanks to Bin4ry see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Video by Bin4ry see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7EpkrCq1gfM
I was able to overclock on the stock kernel and such to 1.152 stable.
I was hoping someone could help to develop ROMs, Kernels, etc to make this thing work better.
Any and all ideas or feedback is appreciated.
Things that I didnt notice when I bought it is: I dont believe there is bluetooth or GPS
Also the GPS and blutooth either does not exist or possibly the software in the tablet just doesn't work with it.

if something sounds to good to be true. it probaly is..
sad to say the chances of someone making a ROM for non-brand products is pretty slim, since most ROM are created on the basis that a device is widely bought and used. Of non-brand phone and tablets there are such a variety that developing for them makes no sense.
Get your money back if you can, and get a branded device. For 200$ you can get a Nexus 7.
if you want the same size and format of the one you got, look around for what samsung, acer, asus, hell even what Point Of View have to offer..
Sorry, but you won't like it -
The main disadvantage of buying a no-brand device is although it may work better the known brands, in case of a fault (software or hardware), you're on your own.... Not many users have flashed/fixed/used this device. So if you brick it, get a bootloop or find a bug, not many can help you.
Not speaking about the variety of ROMs...
I've been there.... I've bought a no-brand phone and after a year it's main PCB failed. I couldn't find a replacement part and had to throw the device away.
Anyway.....
Use the device, enjoy and don't brick it

If the moderators will give me permission, I can give you a link to where there are 4 custom ROMs for this tablet. I have installed the BETA4 and it better utilizes the Retina Display (unless you have bad eyes, and there is one geared for that one as the defective one you are using does). I honestly don't know if your problem can be helped with software, but it might... I can also give you a link to the newest stock ROM and a Windows app to install it. I would rather get permission first to post 2 direct links... one is to Arctablet (and you can do a Google or DuckDuckGo search and find it by the way) and the other one is to a tablet distributor who was good enough to create download links and instructions on how to use the hokey Chinese installer. The question is though, is your problem hardware or a botched ROM?
It does not have Bluetooth or GPS. My Archos outdoes it in that way, but it is a true quad-core retina display and mine works very nicely... nicer now that I have the better use of the resolution available. Its wildly vivid. I honestly can find no real issues other than a few I had from not wiping the thing before I flashed it (oddly it suggested I not do so... which caused me grief w/Google Play eventually). It comes rooted, and if you have one of those that are like partly-rooted or whatever some call it, do a factory reset and it will come back fully rooted. The ROMs of course are all rooted. I have a cheap 10.2", which honestly if I had not had something else would have given me ulcers, but hey... I only paid $14 for it from Quibids (including bid prices), so I can't complain. This one cost me around $150 with a few extras, so a little grief I can handle. But so far... those are interesting words... so far, it is actually very impressive. My daughter has a boyfriend who is an Apple fanatic, and he's kind of fixated on it from certain similarities to what he is coveting these days.
I have it going at 1.2ghz (quad-core), although I have gotten it up to just under the 1.5ghz it claims (1440). It will do it, but I wouldn't bet on its stability. It comes at 1.0 preset from manufacturer, but is easily changed with the cpu app of your choice. I use Setcpu... works for me. It has 2gb ram... can't complain.
I read some arguments on the cameras, but I don't see it... I took some pics tonight of my daughter on her way to a costume party... they are the best thing I have this side of my Kodak. I'm sure it takes better video than the Kodak though. Anyway... its responsive, sharp, and does what I want. You have to buy a Bluetooth dongle for next to nothing to have Bluetooth though for some bizarre reason it shows its there. The one page that I mentioned gives advice along with pics on how to do some interesting mods to it. It is capable of more than they shipped it with. I am sorry that you are having troubles with yours... I don't know if you still have yours or not. I've only had this a few weeks. If you are interested, let me know... and if the moderators allow it, I will post links.
I hate that you have had such grief with yours. If I can help, I am willing.

Buying a Sony Tablet S finally!!!

Hello everyone!
I finally saved enough to buy a tablet and after about a week of reading reviews and watching feature videos, I made up my mind to go for the Sony Tablet S (3G +WiFi) (Model:SGPT113IN). This is my first foray into the android world. I wouldn't root it immediately. I need to get a little bit familiar with all the slang and technical terms used around here. I can see though, that a senior member, Condi,is doing a great job. My hats off to him.
True this tablet is not the best. There never will be the best tablet! Not even the so called great iPad and Samsung families don't deserve that title. There is always something lacking, something too low, some features too less....but given all the facilities in this neat tablet like:
SD Card - fine with me...doesn't bother me.
USB Host - a plus point for me!
WiFi - Can't live without it Don't need to be a 100Mbps or something more....highest achievable speed for our OFC is 2 Mbps.
Bluetooth - Won't be using much except for sending few jpeg files rarely) 3G (yay!)
The Design - Cool and stands out a lot in the mad world of tablets. Btw, I am really fed up of all the similar and boring plain looking tablets out there
GPS - I don't exactly know whether it is an AGPS (Assisted GPS) which needs 3G data or the real GPS hardware (not needing data connectivity)
The Size - 9.4' (1280 x 800) is somewhere in the sweet spot for me. Not too big...not too small.
The IR Blaster - the scale tipper in my decision making.
The Sound - Stereo (yay!) if you are thinking the sound is too low....let me say that it is for my personal use...don't intend to use it in parties
The Battery - Long charging time and short Battery life doesn't bother me as I am not living inside a cave. Not traveling much either.
Memory, Processor & Multitasking Performance - Suits me fine...I am not expecting it to perform like a workstation or a Core i7 CPU machine. I will use it mainly for social apps, light browsing, listening to audiobooks/music on my way to and from my office. A little bit of games/entertainment/educational app my wife and my daughter can play/use during weekends.
These are just from my point of view...my two cents...hope i have not offended any samsung/apple fan. Leave comments and share your thoughts please!!

The sony tablet s is getting old and isnt getting updates. Does have a few bugs (Wifi) but it is a great tablet outdated. I would have recommended a newer tablet but it is your choice.

Thanks for your concern.
Yeah...I have thought about it too.
But the price is about more than double...
Rs. 19,990 for Sony Tablet S and Rs. 46,990 for Xperia Tab Z
That was too much for me...
I wouldnt recommend the STS to anyone. Or the XTS, you can get much better tablets for teh same money atm.

The Sony Tablet S is a nice tablet. I own four of them, one of them owned since the first week the tablet was released to market and I have had no hardware or software problems with any of them. One of them I use at work in an industrial environment and two of them are used by my 2 and 4 year-old granddaughters, so I am sure you can imagine the abuse these tablets receive. All of them are running Android 4.0.3r5a rooted, which has proven to be a fairly stable and trouble-free release of Android. I do not foresee Sony releasing anymore firmware updates for the STS, but then again, my tablets perform well and do what they were specified to do, so are any updates really necessary? No, not in my opinion. So, if you know what the STS can and cannot do, and you feel it will meet your needs, then I say buy it.
I also own a Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The XTZ display-wise and performance-wise is a better tablet than the STS; however, hardware-wise it fails in comparison with the STS when it comes to port access and ruggedness. The XTZ is a dainty tablet, the STS is a manly tablet.

Hi Cat McGowan!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts....It means a lot with all the hype going on that this STS is costly and have no future since it will not support newer android versions.
You have made me really stand steadfast and want to own it all the more!
I have two laptops, a PC (all Core i7 processors)....if i needed any horse-powered work done, I have those.
The STS will just be a take-a-break device while lazying on the couch or bed with a movie or two and some light entertainments/games or when I am commuting.
I must admire you for owning 4 STSs!!!!!

Does it support 3G?
From Sony India's website, I see that the one I am about to buy is Android™ 3.2.with WiFi and 3G.

I am yet to reach that stage  but my daughter is going to be 4 this August. The way she's meddling with my phone, she'll be the absolute owner of the tablet once I buy it.

Yeah...you are right.
But as I have said, the upgrading (to JB) is not an issue with me. I believe it gives me all I want plus something which is rare on other devices - the IR Blaster feature. Maybe Samsung has got it in the new devices but they costs too much.
For me, though it may be an average device with average component/hardware with average performance with no future support/update/upgrade, it has all that I need in one neat package.
Thanks for your concern though....cheers!!!
so so sad....
Today I heard the sad news that the Sony Tablet S is not available anymore in India.
What a bummer....I was so looking forward to it.
Just when I saved enough for it, and after all the questions and video reviews, it has all been for naught.
Can somebody please give me a list of tablets which has IR Blaster/Infrared feature please?
Thanks in advance.

I did some googling...and I have narrowed my search down to either:
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 or Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (P5220)...what do you say to these?
Anyway, I would gladly go up to $620 USD provided it has 3G + WiFi + Infrared + expandable memory (SD or MicroSD)
eagerly waiting to hear from you.
thanks again for your concern:good:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 since it is the latest.

I was leaning more toward the Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-8000 though.
Yeah, the cpu for the new Tab 3 is Atom, the first among tablets to have this.
But the Note 10.1 is not so old and i've heard only great comments and reviews from xda here.
Let me refresh my mind for a few days and make the final decision.
Thanks so much for your help and concern.

Yeah it can be a bit difficult deciding between 2 good devices.
It is either the Atom processor or the S-Pen.
The S-Pen seems pretty awesome but in the same time the Atom processor will give it a ultimate boost in performance.

You know what...these companies just toy with us.
You will not find any device with all the good/best features.
They will add a particular feature to one model/device only, and another new feature to a different model/device.
Everyone would be happy if they put all their eggs in one basket!!
Do not get the Tablet S it will put you off Android tablets for life.
Get a Nexus 7 instead - Old or New. 4.3. on the old N7 really flies.

Thanks for the concern and insight.
Anyway, I've just place an order for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-N8000 for Rs.36000 INR (about $591.73 USD)
Thanks everyone for all your help in making the decision.
I guess I will now be active in the GT-N8000 forum now...see you all there!:highfive::highfive::highfive:
The sony tablet S was the worst decision I made.
The sdcard handling still sucks. No custom roms possible. Sony refuses to update it at all. And so on. Ill never ever again buy a android product produced by sony!

I have my STS which i am trying to sell because I have moved on to a newer one. If interested mail me @coolaks[email protected]

[Q] does the prime still worth to be bought today?

hello everybody
i 'll try to add some precision to my question
i know that a lot of you are very proficient in rom, root, tweak and all of that so your point of view may not be the same than the one of someone with very lighter skills
i have the possibility to get a prime. (not one bought from asus, an occasion that is still in good shape)
i'm well aware of the camera issues and the potential poor wifi problem
i see you managed to put this old tablet up to date (kitkat) so i bet you know the beast a lot better than many i could ask for advise
so in the end, does this old model worth the money, the time and the tweak i would have to invest in it or is it a better thing to go for a newer model.
i have a note 3, a gaming laptop , the tablette would mainly be used by my girlfriend for watching tv/movie, cheking mail and a some skype.
she is far from being a tech addict and i would just be enough for her (compared to a true laptop)
i don't want to put 500 buck so if i went for a model of these year it would be a middle quality item at best (10" though, everything else is just to small)
that's why i thought that this prime could do the trick but, i'm testing it since 2 days (android stock, 4.1 no root, nothing) and i find it slow i just surf on the net and i fear it would reach it's limit very soon even with kitkat (the touch screen seems sometime capricious too)
well to sum up, if i were your friend, what would be your advice?
take it or go for a less old thing?
thanks a lot for you help and sorry if my english is bad, it's not one of my specialities ^^'
I have been using a prime for 2 and a half years now and the custom ROMs from sdbags, CromiX 5.4 and his KK version are the best that I have tried for this tablet especial CromiX 5.4, it runs very well web browsing, watching videos, etc.
So it all depends on the price your picking the 2nd hand prime up for, if cheap then yes go for it as the keyboard makes it worth while investment
