Guys at the first sorry for my bad english.
My uncle has bring me a Samsung Galaxy S2 i777 (AT&T) 1 weeks ago.I'm living in Turkey so phone was unlocked. There was a rom on the phone ([email protected]).I wanted to turn the phone the original firmware...
And i read some Turkish forums and i downloaded an original ICS firmware (4.0.3) for 'Galaxy S2 i9100' (look at the problem 1). And then when its loaded i have open my phone. There was 2 buttons are not working from LED (Back and Search). And then i have tried to install a lot of firmwares , Roms , kernels.. A lot of i777 Firmwares giving fail when installing but i9100 firmwares are not giving fail(Look at the problem 1).When i install a i9100 firmware i can't speak with phone.(Look at problem 2). And my problems :
1) I wasn't know my phone is an i777 because on the start screen there is writes i9100. When i take of the battery i have seen the model number. (i777) Why there is writing i9100 on the start screen ?
2) I can't speak with my phone. When i call someone i cant hear dial tone but their phones are ringing. And when they open the phone i cant hear their voice. What can i do ?
3)And the baseband number. On the Phone Information there is writing my baseband number i9100. How i can change it ?
Guys anyone can help me ?

1) Alto of times when the i777 is flashed with a i9100 firmware (or just rooted and has the yellow triangle on boot up) you will get the i9100 startup screen.
2. When you flashed a i9100 firmware it will include a modem for the i9100 which is not compatible with our i777 and the sound when making calls the other person on the call will not hear you.
3. Baseband is the installed modem. Which shows you have a i9100 modem.
So just download this file and flash it in cwm and you will have a i777 ICS kernel from Entropy, a i777 ICS modem, and all the appropriate files for your phone to work properly.

I think maybe u misunderstand. I never post BS....or call someone names...I do however encourage them to search. Sometimes I'll just say search. Other times ill try and answer the question. I'm far from a professional. I've just been here longer. That doesn't make me any better than anyone. But we all have to be held to the same standards. I understand his first language isn't English. I didn't call him stupid or anything. This isn't personal. Let's not make it personal.
Edit: also this is a double post. At least one or both his threads should be deleted.

If they didn't get it before they posted it they wont get it with you telling them.... People who post these threads are scared, confused etc. a little help in the right direction goes a long way... You are 100% correct about searching Google but sometimes the 1 on 1 help is a comfort... I know XDA is not a place for comfort and all the threads clog the search but once they post what can you do.
EDIT: ok not 99% but a lot

if you dont want "BS" to be posted, the why are you responding to a guy that you claim to only post it? knowingly encouraging something that you say you don't like would only make the problem worse in your situation. wouldn't it? it would be cool if everyone would either....
1.) not bicker back and forth
2.) just not respond to eachother
3.) focus on the OP's question at hand
by the way. getting scared and coming to XDA should never be a reason for someone to get "special" treatment. that only makes the issue of clogging forums and spoonfeeding worse. if someone has done something that they are scared about or nervous, then they decided that they were better than most people and decided not to read all the prior warnings that are usually labeled before flashing anything.

Let me start first by requesting you spend more time reading since reading is not only good for us but for you too, seriously.
You said you found out the device is actually i777, it's good, it's a good sign, at least you checked and asking in the right forum.
For ROMs, both GB and ICS, let me direct you to this thread by Chris.

But before digging into any of those, I strongly recommend you getting your device back to stock first.

The responses in this thread is exactly why I regret buying my phone. I love the phone and hardware but the behavior of members in the forum is downright rude.
The OP should have posted in Q&A. The OP should have read more, but it does not warrant the responses from others of being rude. The OP can not write really well in English, what makes you think that the OP won't open 10 new threads asking what they can't understand after reading? I want people to read like crazy, but I don't want to read rude post... there is a moderator that takes care of all this, stop trying to act like one with the rude behavior.

Hello
I just purchased the AT&T Galaxy S2. Got it home and rooted already. All works well so far with no issues. However I do notice on my boot screen, the usual boot logo but on the bottom of the display is a yellow Explanation Point. Is this normal? It still boots up fine and operates as it should. I was just wondering what the yellow explanation point means.
Thank You
If you want the exclamation triangle to go away, flash back to stock kernel. Your using the insecure kernel that was needed to root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
You can get that to go away if you use Entropy's method to restore back to stock which will also root the phone in the process. Be aware though if you do anything like install CWM, you'll get that exclamation point back. It's basically a visual indicator that the phone has been modified... but that's all it is. If you can simply ignore it, you're fine.
Oh Ok Thank You. Guess its a easy indication for any AT&T reps to do a quick check as to check to see if the phone has been hacked or not.
Can you tell me if the bootloader has been unlocked as well with this root method?
To be honest, the AT&T reps (if knowledgable) really don't care about rooting and custom roms. When I picked up my phone I spend a good 10 minutes talking with two of the guys about rooting the phones, cyanogen 7, and how to tether without AT&T noticing. Another rep came over during the conversation and the only thing he said was "root that thing the first chance you have".
How do you get stock rom back. I've only had iPhones and learned everything about jail breaking them, decided to give up iPhone and get gs2. I really want this yellow triangle to go away.

5 minutes of reading the dev forum and you'd have your answer. The dev forum is still only one page!
Plug in a jig from powered off state and it will clear flash counter and remove the triangle even if you are still on a custom kernel

It was never locked in the first place.
The closest thing we have to a locked bootloader is the triangle warning/flash counter. But that's pretty benign.
(Exception: The bootloader of newer Samsungs will only accept signed binaries when trying to overwrite the bootloader it seems. But there is no valid reason to be flashing bootloaders right now, and rarely ever is.)

I've read comments on these forums where people have asked questions and many of you are ruDr and smart asses. you all love the Android platform and it would seem to me that you all would be excited to help and assist someone new. calm down - no one is being a "jerk" or "smart ass."
you obviously didn't search for the answer to your question before you asked it - that's all that people are asking you to do.
if everyone were to post a new thread for every question that they have, then the forums will become cluttered with repetitive threads.
all Entropy512 was saying was that this device is so new, that the forums are still very small (the answer to your question constantly remains in the top 5 or so threads in the dev section) - so searching for your solution should be pretty easy at this point.
people are always happy to help, but if it is obvious that you didn't search the forums before asking your question (most of the time, a simple google search is sufficient), you can definitely expect people to tell you to search before posting.
SGS2 i777 showing i9100 on boot screen?!?
I've had my SGS2 (I777) for a week now, it is rooted, when it boots, the splash screen not only contains the yield sign, but it says Galaxy S2 then lists the i9100 model... is this normal or was something done incorrectly in rooting...
I used the exact directions from the sticky root post of using Odin and CWM... i found this very odd, i haven't really had many issues other than people complaining about my voice during calls... i need to figure out how to fix that part especially...

yeah. searching. its only in the rules that you agree to when you register on the forums. there is a video to watch explaining it, and its littered throughout the forums that you should SEARCH before posting a question or whatever random thought pops into your brain.
is it so wrong to assume that when you agree to the forum rules, that you would, i dont know, actually follow some of them?

Since the recent topic of conversation is people who don't read or search the forum threads before posting, I find it amusing how this post is right in the middle of said conversation. How many times are people going to ask the exact same question? You can find the answer (being asked by another random person) on pretty much every page of every thread on this sub-forum.
I wasn't asking about the yellow yield sign. I was asking about why it would say i9100. I've literally searched a week and seen nothing mentioning that it is normal to say i9100 when the phone is actually a i777.

Hey i cant change my csc settings. I have SEARCHED all over google and have not found a solution. All that shows up is att where it says sales thing.
i am guessing english isnt your first language?
what exactly is it you are looking to DO? with all of your threads you keep opening up, it seems like you have a goal in mind, but dont want to share it....you keep asking very generic questions, and honestly, none of them really make any sense, it just reads as incoherent babbling....
so lets start this off with:
WHAT IS YOUR END GOAL?
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH?
WHAT IS IT YOU ARE ULTIMATELY LOOKING TO DO?
why do you think you need to modify your CSC for any reason?
I am trying to change my csc settings because i flashed a stock rom which may have a different setting. I am thinking that is why kies wont let me update! Sorry i have so many unanswered questions because all you people reply is with "search". If you are taking the time to scold me about searching and the rules you might as well answer the freakin question.

but you dont even know if it actually changed anything.
you have provided NO info to the members of the forum for them to help you....
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR PHONE SO FAR?
WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE MODIFIED THE CSC?
WHY DO YOU THINK YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE CSC?
WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET AN UPDATE FROM KIES?
i dont think you need to change your CSC settings at all....just flash back to stock....its not difficult
and if you dont like hearing the word SEARCH, maybe you shouldnt be here on this site, because its the first F'ng rule of the forum.....
I did flash a stock rom. I explained the reason i want to CHECK my settings is because kies says my device does not support updating from it. The only time it gave me that message is when i rooted it. I noticed it and so i flashed a stock rom and was still given the message. Samsung then gave me a 2.3.6 ota update and STILL i have the message. I'm not a 100% sure that its vecause of the csc, i just want to check. And when i tried checking, it diddnt let me. All it said by sales code was "att" with nothing under it instead of "csc". I wasn't sure if that was a problem so i posred this topic. Need anh more info? And is why i want to do something necessary? As long as you know what i'm trying to do, (and not why) that should be enough.
EDIT: i used zedomax to root and unroot.
you posted this topic of how to CHANGE it. you didnt explain why you thought you needed to change it.
by me piecing together your different threads, it was obviously clear to me that you didnt understand this phone and/or android....so its pretty reasonable to assume that you didnt fully understand CSC....
i wish you luck in your many threads....and hope you dont post on here soon about bricking your phone because you didnt read enough....it is painstakingly obvious that you just want to be spoonfed what you want to know and not help anyone help you, so to that, i bid farewell.
All i want to f****** know is how to get my phone to support updating via kies. I dont want an arguement and im fairly confused because im trying to understand but all i get from you are scoldings and criticism. I would like help but all this arguing is making it that more difficult
I'm a noob, so please understand... xD

Actually, no. This is NOT the main reason this site is around. It was created to aid developers. It has degraded over the past year or so due to people thinking they deserve help just because. Sorry you don't understand, but I will also tell you to search. Understand what you want before you start messing with something you have no understanding of. I know right now this is a useless post to you. But you are probably not going to find anyone here to spoon feed you the answer. 100% disagree. If it was really like that then there wouldn't be any bugs in software period . New bugs arise after testing new software.
I'm going to kill all your threads by this one post.
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL ICS UPDATE FOR OUR PHONE, AND THERE LIKELY WON'T BE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.
Even if there was a Kies update, you'd have to use Kies Mini, the full Kies does not and never will update our phone no matter what you do. And if you somehow happen to find an update pushed to your phone over the air or through Kies Mini, it's 2.3.6 GB. That is the only update available to stock 2.3.4 phones.
You want official ICS now? Go buy a Galaxy Nexus or an International Galaxy SII.
Mods, you may remove or edit this post as you feel is necessary. I request though, that you close these threads before more crap happens.

Looks like I've fallen victim (as well as others) to not noticing that there are 2 forums for the Galaxy S3 and bricking my phone not even 24 hrs after getting it in my hands.
Any way this forum could give at least *some* indication in the forum name that it is for the International version? It seems like a simple way to save a lot of people a lot of stress and $$. Had I seen International version in the forum name, or somewhere in a sub-forum, I would have avoided it altogether and easily avoided hard bricking my phone.
In my case what I did when rooting was follow this forum to this thread:
SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT V3.0
and noticed that AT&T SGS3 uses a different toolkit, so i followed the link to:
SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 QCOM TOOLKIT V1.0
thinking it was just a different thread in this same forum (I've never come across split forums in any of the previous phones Android or otherwise) I followed everything there, and had zero issues with rooting and getting CWM on there.
I went back to the Android development sub-forum and decided I'd stick with a ROM similar to the stock rom for starters (seems the least adventurous, just in case), the most common seeming to be CM9 or Omega. I've already seen CM9, so I figured I'd try out Omega. Downloaded it, copied it over to internal SD, followed the usual boot to CWM, backup, clear data, clear cache, and flash zip.
Installer ran through, said it was successful, and showed an error about a mismatched property (can't remember the exact error). Installer said it would reboot, I clicked go and that was the last the screen turned on.
I've had at least a fair amount of experience with flashing ROMs, bootloaders, etc. across several phones and have had no serious hard bricking issues until recently. I usually pay attention to indications of different versions of a particular phone and which ROMs, etc go with which phone but this one got the best of me.
Note the heads up on the first page .

Wont stop those who fail to read the instructions same happened on SGS2 presumption by users that this is the forum for my phone .Says I9300 on the lid but the phone in question is SGH 1747 not I9300 .

The forum name is "Samsung Galaxy S III I9300"
Last time I check, this number is only for international SGS3
Seems like I start to think like a Green Day's song...
Sorry to hear your phone is broken.
Have you tried getting it into download mode or using a Jig?
One of both methods should get you running again.
Btw, cm9 is the absolute opposite of stock Rom: it has NOTHING Samsung-specific since it is built from heavily modified Google sourcecode,

Nobody have to change anything!
Some people have to learn to READ!
Is your device's model the GT-i9300??? If you've killed it than it for sure is NOT!

People have already explained how to differentiate between the international version and the US version.
This forum has I9300 written on top, that means international version.
Your phone has its own forum easily found by searching for att galaxy sIII.
Your phone isn't the I9300 so why would you flash it with stuff for that model??
Would you flash a kernel for a I9250 or a rom for an I515? No.
Sorry this happened to your phone but it happens so often here that now not a single f*ck will be given as it is down to not reading and not searching. User error.
This has been fixed before so try search here and in your respective forum.
Lesson learned.

Hi everyone, I recently got my SII back from repair running 4.0.4 stock, I rooted and flashed Resurrection Remix v3.1.2 (4.1.2) last night and want to reset my binary counter to 0 and remove the yellow triangle.
I have realised however that the last time I used my USB jig I was running Gingerbread and now that I am on Jelly Bean it won't work anymore!
So my question is this, can I just create a nandroid of my current ROM, flash a GB ROM using CWM and then restore from my nandroid backup (wiping fully inbetween flashing of course)? Will this work or is there a better method?
Thanks in advance!
Triangle Away ?
Edit - Although...Why are you worried about the flash counter if you're running/obviously intend to keep running a non-stock rom ? If the phone craps itself with that rom on it, you're basically throwing dice as to whether they'll fix it or not given you weren't able to go back stock before the phone died. In that situation, won't matter what the counter is at.
Worry about the counter if you end up with a problem that needs fixing but doesn't completely disable the phone & where you'll still be able to go back to ICS stock/reset the counter.

It's really just incase something out of the norm happens, it's not that much trouble to go through to have a triangle free phone and one with a binary counter set at 0. I'd basically like to do whatever I need to do to prevent them from knowing I'm running custom.
For example my phone completely died hence the repair and I'm not sure whether the binary counter played any role (I doubt it did) but it was good to know that it was set to 0 either way.
E. g. What about if I can't restore stock and need to do it through CWM or something then my flash counter has already been reset.
i think you can flash GB bootloader. put in download mode. use your USB jig. then reflash a ICS bootloader and use triangle away on your current rom

I realize this is old but hope an email will go out or something. I have to return my phone. I updated to jelly bean through the samsung site which took away the root accesss. I know have no triangle but I do have a 1 on the binary counter. The Jig won't work. I don't want to root again to use triangle away as I don't know how to get back to stock. I rooted my sons phone after upgrading to Jelly Bean. It is a bad port. One has nothing to do with the other but we all know that won't matter. I'll post tonight in the general forums and hope for an answer.
You have no other option on JB. You need to re-root, Triangle Away, unroot (Get a stock rom from Samfirmware, flash it with Odin). Or go back to GB (again, get a GB rom from Samfirmware & flash with Odin) & use a jig.
You have got to be kidding me
This post was last answered in 2011. I am not sure how the forums work yet. I am trying to follow the rules. I realize the need to keep information from being cluttered up. I thought getting a new thread out, since this one is years old with hardly any participation anyway, couldn't hurt. If the new post I made on the old thread is going to be seen, as easily as the new thread would of been, could you explain how? Help a new person out. Talking to me like I am four years old and telling on me is a little overboard. I am curious if the Mods knew the first question was on a two year old thread. Maybe me posting a reply brings it back to the top. I don't know. I hope tp keep getting this stuff down and be in the place to help others. I know I wouldn't worry if someone asked a question on a two year old thread, that will remain up either way, and then tried to create a thread. Heck outside of someone being blatantly rude I don't see why it matters to me. Yes keeping the forums clean is important, Do you feel better know that the Mods pulled my question? Feel like you are part of XDA developers? Step outside the house and get some fresh air. It would do you a lot of good. Perhaps the way I titled the thread I may have got an answer. Now I am on a thread that the question was not answered. I have already found your answer to be wrong. It involves writing in the terminal emulator which I am not comfortable with but it kind of makes a point. People and their power trips amaze me.I guess you may tell again.
We have rules for a reason. Mods did the right thing. The end.
My answer is correct for the I9100/I9100T. You did not specify in your above post that you had some obscure ****box variant that you did specify in your thread which was correctly closed by a moderator (Your mistake again, forum rules specify you should give as much information as possible when asking for help, including phone model).
Best of luck getting your phone sorted (Yes, I'm being sarcastic, and yes, you're on ignore).
Really funny part
is I could get the question up 100 different ways. I won't. I have many other issues with this I can tie into the question and ask again without it being a repeat. Could ask a friend to ask. I know the Mods can ban me for that type of stuff. Keep me out at least from this ISP address. I have no desire for that to happen. I just am totally amazed you took part of your day to talk to me like I am 4 and tell on me. A simple explanation would have been nice. When you ask your question on a two year old thread the chances of it being seen are exactly the same as if I post a new thread, How that could be possible I don't know since the titles were different. If my posting on an old thread bumps it up to the top I will look for that. In the grand scheme of things what did you accomplish or help? You are the same type of person that lost my good friend a contest he deserved to win., He was running away with a slogan on a GIJOE site. He asked me to vote. I asked my 3 family members to vote, Someone saw the 4 votes came from the same ISP and banned him. No where did it say two people in the same house couldn't vote. It didn't matter. A senior memeber pointed it out to the mods. O no you don't....I wish sometimes that people had to say what they say on here in real life. Be blessed brother and be vigilant in making sure no one makes a MISTAKE. I sure would like to hear how this question has the same chance as my own thread to be answered.
---------- Post added at 12:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:18 PM ----------
the method will work on the model you point out according to the thread. I don't know. having my thread up may have helped clear it up.. Another reason for me starting my own thread was to clearly state it as it pertained to me. I am sure the Mods spent all of three seconds looking at it, and under the general rule of not doubling up, deleted my thread. Yes their job. If I manage to ask other questions, which I do have, and list this as one of my problems will you tell then also? I'm glad you feel so empowered by this. A real sense of accomplishment. Unbelievable. You make a good point. I didn't in fact double up because I put a lot more information. I thought that person may have solved it and could help. I then decided to word it to the best of my ability and start a thread. Thanks! Hope it made you very happy. Be blessed man. Keep on the lookout to help the Mods do their job. I mean it eing my first thread started I really clog things up around here. Amazing,
mods
So I get to answered by you because it notifies you and can't get the question out there. Makes sense. I'll take he time later to get with a mod and get Itcstraightned out. How do I know thie is your one way to feel better about yourself. I have found other optione but accordint to you I have to only hear your opinion. I can now go aek about those optionw and it wont be doubling up. Thankfully not everyone ie orbyou r mind. There arebdosenw or threads, some by the same person, that give different info rmation. I never said the phone was obscure. Several carriers use this version. Are you like the post police? I'll put together a post with all the options I have found and ask who has had luck with what. Is that something you will tell on me for?

1. "Hello ... Help please" is ...NOT.. a topic title. In future do not put generic crap. Titles are supposed to be descriptive of topic content so that people who are browsing know what topic is about at a glance.
2. Rule #1 of XDA is to use search before creating topics which you obviously couldn't be bothered to do since this is a FAQ and discussed allot. A simple search would have found you answer in seconds instead of adding to the spoon feed type clutter of XDA.

Indeed. Its getting worse and worse.
I'm actually quite amazed how bad it's gotten.
The AMOLED display on my i9100 failed a couple days ago, and at first I was quite sad.
Then I realized that meant I wouldn't have to read the incredible amount of rule breaking posts that are found in this forum these days... Though I'll probably still pass through from time to time.
Who knows, I may end up replacing the display on the i9100 and keeping it as a back-up.
