ICS Update Keyboards? - HTC Amaze 4G

Hey guys since i install the new update i found that we dont have the swype key function like before. What is the problem or cause of it?

I thought they took that function away. If you want Swype, go get the original. I believe you can still sign up and they'll send you the download link, and you just install it like a normal APK.

Question answered.

[SOLVED] Keyboard gone after rooting :(

Ok, as the rooting thread is getting overwhelmed with users not being able to find their correct deviceID, not being able to put java in their %path% or just having problems due to a 64bit version of java or whatever else could go wrong
All other valid questions are getting snowed in their so I thought i might be better to get a new thread to make sure it will get answered
After having my x10 succesfully rooted I no longer have my keyboard on any field, I also tried with long pressing the menu button (which normally would show or hide the keyboard) but with no success . Anybody have a clue how I can get my keyboard back again?
I did enable the HTC_IME btw in the language settings.
I had the same problem, just installed older version, v25 i think, and it works..
Hmmmm for some weird reason it just appeared lol.... I had opened up google search but didn't close as I wasn't getting the keyboard but just had put the phone down for a while as I needed to do some other stuff. When I got back the phone was showing the HTC keyboard and it now opens very quickly every time I go into a field or it at least responds on my long pressing the menu button while I'm in a field
Just install the HTC-IME again

in case it wasn't installed correctly you can also find it in your step4 apps folder from the root package, it's called com.htc.clicker.apk. Copy it to your SD and mount the sd back on the phone and install it from there.
Also make sure HTC_IME is selected in your country settings and text.
Thank you guys, found it in google and installed it. Keyboard is fine.

[Q] Need Help

So I recently rooted my Photon and in all the excitement I uninstalled swype and installed swype 3. Well I didn't back it up like I wanted to so now I lost it. I would like to get it back just in case becuase I am getting FC with swype 3 and I would rather not do a hard reset if I don't have to. So question is anybody on here have the photon themed swype apk file?

Try this. Download the CM5 from Yay's thread in the dev thread. Using 7zip remove everything from the package except the swype apk
I had the same FC issues, and the recommendation in the post above will work like a charm. I grabbed it from the system dump that is posted but CM5 should work just as well.
If you really want Swype 3.+ You can wait for an update which they say is coming soon but we will see lol. Otherwise if you search around you can find a stand-alone version that will install without the swype-installer app and work like a charm. I couldn't figure out the FC issues for the beta and that was the only way I could get Swype 3 to work.
So that you don't loose the original you can put it back in the /system/app/ folder and rename it to swype.bak and you'll still be able to install swype 3. Then if you need the orginial back to return your phone or whatever just uninstall swype 3 and rename that file to swype.apk
that did it thanks alot

[Q] "Last one from me" Market question

My bad for dragging this along but I did use the search box and scanned through to try and find it. I went back to stock 1.1-3588 and was wondering if anyone can help me run the normal gapps on the stock rom? Or, is it even doable? Thank you.

Stock apps install

Ok I love some of the features of the ICS rom I installed but most are real debloated. I like some of the stock apps but cant figure out how to install them.
I know they are not odex but the apk wont install. I dont remember but thought it needed and associate file. Little help.
I asked the same question in a post last week and have not heard anything. I really need smart actions and mobile hotspot to work but have found no luck getting the apk files to work.

[Q] Jellybam and Google Talk

Hi folks,
I'm pretty new to rooting & flashing but I decided to stick Jellybam on my Samsung Galaxy S II the other day. (My previous experience was to flash Samsung's stock ICS a couple months ago)
Anyway, I started by doing a complete factory reset and flashing version 20121120. All was good.
I then upgraded to 20121123. All good so far - all my apps were carried forward from the factory reset to the new version.
yesterday I flashed 20121125. Pretty much no problems with the update with the exception of the Google Talk app - It did not carry forward. This is not totally unexpected since gapps were removed from the ROM according to the release notes.
The problem is, I can't find Google Talk anywhere on the Play store - I've searched using all the relevant key words I can think of, but no sign of it. Does anyone have a link for it? Or can I get Play to play nice? It's an app that I do use quite alot so I would like to get it up and running again.
I have seen some APKs linked on some older threads, but, to be honest I'd rather go thru the Play store since it will then keep the pap up to date etc.
Any help would be appreciated!
cheers,
Paul.
Ok,
well I found, in the jellybean thread, a suggestion to unpack the talk apk from the previous and copy it to system/app.
Unfortunately, I can't post directly in that thread but maybe someone here can help?
I have taken the older ROM and extracted the apk. Is the instruction to put that into the new ROM and reflash it? I have tried simply installing the APK (via cwm ) but it doesnt work. Just says "App not installed" after I agreee to the permissions....
any ideas?
