Double Dongle? (lol) - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I got another one in the mail today.....I did the early sign up and the rep called saying the would ship it. That was months ago, and I got it (I opened it up and posted pics). But today I got another one? Anyone else get 2 somehow?

got none...

I have 2. An engineering sample & one like everyone else has.

Open it up and see if you can mod it to make it moodmore compact

*pokerface*
Y U NO GIVE DONGLE ASUS!?

I got two too, exact same scenario as original poster.

I would of gotten my second one but I moved out of State before It had arrived. Supposedly it's on its way back to the shipper.. Not sure if I want to go through calling up ASUS and explaining what happened:/

You must have gotten mine. It was shipped on 4/17 but has yet to arrive. Oh well, I've come to expect this level of service from Asus.

I got dual dongles also. A second one arrived today, champagne colored. hmm.... more Asus errors

I wonder what they'd go for if you put it on Ebay?

yeah i got another one today

I got my second one a few minutes ago. Are these newer ones better quality or something? And I, too, wonder how much they would go for on ebay.

I also jus received my 2nd one..

I have two, but because I got a replacement unit and applied for that one for a dongle. I got a 3rd replacement... I wonder if I could get a 3rd dongle. LOL I was thinking of either selling the extra one or being really really nice and just giving it to someone in a country that wont be getting the dongle...

Just looked asking price is $20-$30 USD

I just got my second one today. Even when Asus is doing something pro bono they are making themselves look bad with this tablet. You can not fault them for not trying though. This too funny.

Lot of folks would be happy with just the first to arrive (myself included)....Although, I know if I really want to speed up the shipping from ASUS, all I have to do is buy one off ebay. Then I'll probably have three at my door...

Just received another 2 myself, this makes 4 total for the 2 tablets I have.

Now I heard that they are saying that they are out of stock I wonder why?

I got two as well.

Has anyone heard of the next release date or even where they are still shipping them from? I have been wanting one and I just curious if anyone has information on the subject.

Just tried to buy the dock from walmart.com and on the checkout page it showed as out of stock.
got mine yesterday - in the UK they had an offer that if you bought the dock early on you order the dock at the same price difference as in the bundle. So far no issues. Really loving it!!!!!!!!

Has anyone had to send theirs back to HP?

I just sent mine back for the back cover cracking. I got tired of it and figured now would be a good time to do it while we wait for ICS and while we watch the Xron rom become even better. But has anyone else had to send theirs in to HP? Do you get a replacement or the same one back? Is it a refurb? Did they finally fix the issue with the cracking backs so I won't have to send it in again? How long did you have to wait for a new one?
I have sent mine over a month ago. They are really quick with that process. It takes about a week from the day UPS collects it to the delivery back to you. If you are in Europe so they will send it to Hungary to get it fixed. Mine got replaced even though I asked to change only the cracked case. But probably they decided to change the whole thing because I also had dead pixel. You can't say whether the device is refurbished or new but so far didn't have any issues! Good luck waiting and I believe that you might also get another device. But if otherwise let us know. I wonder how many people get theirs replaced and how many get only their cases fixed.
they discussed this on the xron thread. apparently this is a common problem with the case
cracking near the battery door. from that thread they replace with a refurbished unit. you can have it sent before sending your broken one back but it requires credit card information. one guy had his replaced 4 times for cracks.

Crazy. I don't use the tablet enough to justify having them send me one first. Especially right now when we're all still waiting for a big breakthrough for ICS. Seems like I might only be looking at a week and 1/2 max from what some people have said. I'm saddened that some people have had cases with multiple backs with cracks. I thought the HP Touchpad would be designed well and not be another Palm Pre...
are the cracks cause by the hp case or just stress cracks from a poor design?
Anyone having this problem, I read somewhere that if you ask for "advanced exchange" then they will send you the replacement first and if you don't send yours back, they charge your credit card.
Beats not having a tablet for 7-10 business days.

I don't use my tablet enough to justify a hold on my credit card and a replacement. My only regret is that I now have to buy a new screen protector.

tiny crack so far
I was able to land 3 32gb tp's during the first fire sale and I only se a few mm crack at the corner of a speaker on one of them. Could it be certain production batches were more prone to cracks?

Possibly. My girlfriend's isn't doing it but she barely uses it right now until we get Android ported over to it. I'm waiting for ICS to be stable before I do it because she's not technically inclined like I am. Though I bought both on the day of the fire sale.

Haha thanks for that I've been around Xron since Alpha 3 for CM7 came out. I think ICS is going to be a big step forward from GB since they're putting so much time in to it. According to Dalingrin it's mostly done.
Roger that. It will be interesting to see how ICS comes out of the oven for sure . Meanwhile I'm diggin 2.3.7.

Yea it will. I'm hoping it's going to be better than 2.3.7 right now. I don't want to give her a tablet that's always messing up and not connecting and stuff.
I've had my TP since the first firesale and just noticed the crack by my speaker a 2 weeks ago. I wasn't going to send it to HP but I may ask for them to send me the new cover first since they are doing that.
Mine has just been picked up and on its way to Hungary!!! apparently a bad batch of plastic was used and the "new" plastic shouldn`t crack

Yea. I've heard that excuse before. But maybe it's actually true.
Heads up...
The advanced exchange is now a $59 fee. No longer a credit card hold. I just got this info from my chat session of dead external speakers on my 16GB Touchpad (internal HP firesale, August 2011).
At least I'll get the same unit back and it doesn't have case cracks (knock on wood).
YMMV, maybe my chat person was having a bad day.

Returned mine to BB store today because screen wouldn't turn on, got a refund. Was willing to take another if the had any....but they didn't. Got refund and bought on off of Newegg about 2hrs later.
Returned mine yesterday after ICS update and some of my games and app stopped working. The thread to revert back to HC didn't exist yet so I thought I was SOL and my 14 day was up so I didn't have a choice. The only thing really broke on it was GPS but I didn't really use it anyway. And another reason I returned is because of the 7 inch prime coming out. That's my preffered size anyway. Plus its half the price of the 10 inch. I may still consider the 10 inch but probably will buy from Amazon so I can save on tax

I returned mine, wifi was fine, screen was perfect. ICS update had it rebooting all the time. I was on the last day to return it. Seemed like a better deal than a RMA. I have a dock still. I'd like a working one, they are sold out. If ICS had broken all of them I would have waited. But some work so there must be a hardware aspect

I'm in the same situation as you. ICS messed everything up for me, but don't know if I should wait for ASUS to fix it. I have till friday to return mine to BB. I just got the dock too
I returned mine on Tuesday due to the unknown serial number. I was going to re-order, but decided to save $100 and ordered the original TF-101. It was on sale for $399 (32GB). I decided stability was better than raw speed. When the next great tablet comes out, and isn't plagued with so many issues, maybe I'll upgrade.
I returned mine aswell. After the ICS upgrade it freezes on the first bootscreen. After a few times it boots normal but then after a few minutes it freezes again and i can start all over.
NEVER! LOL. device works to great for me to do such a silly thing
Having a perfectly running Prime with ICS I can't imagine using anything else at this time. All other tabs are a joke compared to Prime.

I returned mine on tuesday to BB. I just never felt confident with my purchase with the design flaws it had. I wasn't one of the people that *****ed that it had terrible GPS but my wifi sure took a hit. Next to my Photon phone, my phone would pick up better Wifi from my home network. The other annoyance was when the screen would not come on sometimes. I would have to hit the reset button to get it to start up again. I think it was just a combination of things that made me decide that if I was to spend this much money on a luxury item, ALL aspects of it should work beautifully. It sucks not having a toy to play with but I figure if I waited this long without one, I can wait a little bit longer for one that suits my needs all around.
Going back to Best Buy Today. I have the dreaded Serial Number Unknown Bug and cannot update firmware at all or root it.
Thanks Asus!
Mine was locking up and freezing after ics. I returned it to Best Buy yesterday and they accepted it no questions asked. Bought a new one on newegg yesterday that should be delivered today.

I returned a total of four to local Best Buy. Three belonging to me and one to my neighbor. My first two were returned within the first two weeks. My last one and my neighbors were twenty days. They did not want to refund stating it was past 14 days. I pulled out my iPhone and showed the manager the statement released by Asus in reference to the shell design hinderng wireless signals and also removing GPS as a spec. I said this is no longer the product that was advertised when I made my purchase. Primes were refunded along with keyboards.
I must say that it feels like a weight has been lifted. My neighbor had decided to ignore the Wifi and GPS issue but about 8 hours after updating to ICS his Prime started having very frequent App crashes that factory reset did not fix.
The "Oficial" Returns thread has Official spelled incorrectly.
...as a side observation, what has ever made any thread in forums "official" other than some non-mod nobody deciding that it's going to be official because he puts it in the title?
Mine is packaged in the box waiting to get dropped off at UPS to return to Amazon.
Said, bye bye...
After working with Asus on rebooting issue and the lack of GPS/ low wifi signal I finally said...Bye, bye to my Transformer Prime, Drove my Chevy to the Best Buy cause the reboots made me cry...
i contacted gamestop 2 days ago and they said they were getting a new shipment on the 11th for 2nd wave of pre orders and that if they had any left over i could exchange mine but they didnt think they would. manager advised me he put in an order with game stop product replacement and that he would call me when they got one.
it is not the 12th and they just called me and i just exchanged my prime for another one.
still wasn't able to get a champagne gold one. i swear those are rare or they only come in 64 GB model.
that was very fast turn around though to exchange so anyone who purchased theirs from gamestop might want to ask if the manager can put in a request for a product replacement.
Returned mine to gamestop today for refund.

Local Gamestop & Staples seem to be getting them in stock no problem every few days. Just have to be on the ball and give a quick online store check and put one on hold once a day. I have gotten lucky a few times no prob.
I just hate waiting although some don't mind. I returned one at Staples at 8am this morning due to HDMI out not working. They were out and so were other locations. They said that Staples.com had 48 in stock and they would ship me one by Monday.
Couldn't wait did a store check at Gamestop.com. Said low stock so i reserved one. And got a email that my Prime is ready for pick up .
Gonna go get it soon. ALTHOUGH...... We have only gotten Gray locally, i would really love a Champagne. But i already have the Gray dock

I wonder what serial numbers they will be, and I wonder if the bluetooth/Wi-Fi issues will be fixed.
I just received my replacement 32GB champayne from Amazon and it's C10KAS sku..
I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet, but when I get a chance I'll test to see if it still has the bluetooth + wifi fallout issue that my previous one did. I -did- test GPS already though, and like the one I returned to Amazon this one doesn't pick up any satellites at all Lol and the reference to GPS is nowhere to be found on the box this time around, unlike the last box.
Otherwise, the screen on this new one is much better, no dead pixels that I can see and only a very very small amount of backlight bleed in one corner; previous one had very visible bleeding in each of the 4 corners.
Hoping wifi performance is better on this one at the very least.

Just bought my Prime this week after months of being sold out at Best Buy. I am very very into having a near perfect device. Ive returned my incredible 2 about 8 times until I got one that didn't have light leak on the capacitive buttons. Ive returned 5 rezounds until I got one with red capacitive buttons not pink and didn't overheat.
I may be called crazy but I like my expensive devices free of defects.
Got my Prime expecting to get a defective one with issues listed here on XDA. This thing is flawless. I dont know if they solved their quality control issues or I just got lucky but I'm very happy. Also, GPS locks instantly and works great

Dude, screw the GPS. Do speed test 10 times and get the average. Then, play some music files (locally) listening to them via bluetooth headset then do that speed test again and get back to us on how flawless it is. Trust me, I've had three myself all with the same issue. I don't believe anything is "fixed".

I just placed an order. Since mine is going back for RMA, I have a feeling I'll be missing it so I need something and what better way then to try Amazon. I made sure of their return policy. Can't beat 30 days. And I DO NOT expect a fully working wifi/BT card either. There is no way Asus "fixed" anything in something that Amazon just received. My guess (even if there is a fix) Asus won't have it ready until late March. Yep, takes a long time to get something changed into production.
Dock prices are still ripoff though... Ugh.

As of this morning dock is sold out across the board.. The only Prime at Amazon is the 64GB champange, and even that is listed as 'in stock March 6th'.

Terrible RMA Leeson for potential customers

Bought a new TP 64GB from Amazon. Worked for 2 days, then the computer stopped recognizing it. MANY MANY calls to Asus "support" had me jump through all kinds of hoops trying everything to get the thing to work. Finally I ship the TP to Texas at MY expense for RMA. I finally got it back an hour ago UNCHANGED. They never even tested it to see if they fixed it. Now I call and get ANOTHER RMA, and have to send it in again. Never buy another Asus product. Period.
lesson*
Ha! I'm not laughing at you my friend, but just the situation in general. I just got an RMA # for this annoying LCD mura that I have as a result of Asus' crappy displays that they used, but I doubt I'm actually going to use it since the only thing worse than their product design is their RMA process. Judging from the majority of threads on XDA, you should probably just be happy that they didn't break it on you and either blame you for customer-induced damage or just ship you back a broken tablet. Asus sucks.

That was my thinking exactly. The OP states that after 2 days there were problems. Within that short of a time period I would have been going straight back to where it was purchased and asking for a replacement or refund. (online retailer or not).

exactly. they go from a company - Amazon - that is pretty much the gold standard for customer service amongst online retailers where they could have easily dealt with them and had a prime in their hands within a few days to trying to RMA it through Asus when there are a million threads and horror stories already on this board. makes no sense.
the LAST thing you should ever do is try to send it back to the company to fix when you can get a new unit.

This a true story? Why would you get an RMA from Asus when you could have just returned it back to Amazon and got a new one? I've received 5 Prime tablets from Asus RMA department and all of them had issues. If you actually read some of the older posts in here when everyone was RMA'ing their Prime's most people had like an average of 3 RMA returns for one tablet. The RMA process just made it worse.
hate to be one of those "cool story bro" guys, buuuuut this seems to be an exception. haven't seen a bad rma experience posted in at least the last month. sent mine in for a camera and lcd screen mura issue and had it back in hand within 12 days good to go. they've gotten a lot better. also, have you tried using any other computers? if they sent it back and its still not working, have you considered that your computer might be messed up?
anyways, good luck either way! i love my prime and although asus kinda screwed up with some aspects of the tablet, i'm super happy with it. cheers

hate to be one of those "cool story bro" guys, buuuuut this seems to be an exception. haven't seen a bad rma experience posted in at least the last month. sent mine in for a camera and lcd screen mura issue and had it back in hand within 12 days good to go. they've gotten a lot better. also, have you tried using any other computers? if they sent it back and its still not working, have you considered that your computer might be messed up?
anyways, good luck either way! i love my prime and although asus kinda screwed up with some aspects of the tablet, i'm super happy with it. cheers

Yes I checked other computers and the tech support folks had me try that and a bunch of other stuff as well before giving me an RMA. The tech people were fine. I just think they didn't test it before returning to me, or meant to send me a replacement and sent the original; back by mistake. I have been surprised at this experience for I did my homework before deciding to buy the prime and it was rated #1 in most reviews.

Have people been getting Asus to pay for shipping? I got my RMA number online and it doesn't mention anything about shipping costs.

I had to pay the first time. They only offered to pay when they returned my prime unrepaired and I had to send it back again.

i have no idea why anyone would be so stupid to send it to Asus when you could have just sent it back to amazon no quesions asked and gotten a new one or a refund and then ordered a replacement.

This was not an Amazon problem and I felt it would not be fair to return it to them for an Asus issue.

but it goes back to asus after you return it to them. it's the easier way to deal with all of this.
as for your prime, have you tried downloading the latest firmware file from the asus website and pushing that? does your charger work? anyways, best of luck!

Yes I tried all those ideas and the Asus folks had me check all those things as well. The port does work for charging, but is no longer recognized by a computer. It seems to have happened to a number of other primes too because I've seen other descriptions very similar. I put up one post where I asked people who had this issue and sent their prime in to RMA to report what Asus found when they completed the repair, but no one was willing to respond. I was going to report what the problem was when I got mine back but Asus didn't repair it, they just returned it..........
In all honesty, they received mine one week and was fixed and returned by the beginning of the next week. BUT, I can say that they did use some tool to open the case which scratched my freaking paint in some places I guess they figure just be happy we fixed it. In the paper work included in the return box somethings said fixed - void warranty, what does that mean.

I think it means they put on a new void warranty sticker
