Best way to insure EVO 4G LTE? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

In light of TEP going up, what is the best way to insure our phones? With TEP, it looks like if we keep the phone the full 2 years, it will cost ~$264 in premiums plus a $150 deductible per occurence. With just one replacement, that will be $414 over the life of the phone.
At that point, you might as well just replace the EVO LTE out of pocket, as the price should be in that range after about a year or so.
Are there any good alternatives? I am starting to consider SquareTrade. A full two year replacement policy is only $96.50, with no deductibles.
Has anyone had any experience with SquareTrade? Or do you know of any other cell phone insurance programs that would be a good alternative to TEP?

I've been meaning to write this to post somewhere... saw this thread and thought it would be a good opportunity.
Why Total Equipment Protection is Probably a Waste of Money
(Unless You’re EXTREMELY Prone to Breaking Phones or Won’t Buy Used)
I have a Master of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics, a post-baccalaureate certificate in Applied Mathematics, and I did my undergraduate thesis on Game Theory with a section on Utility Theory. Simply put, I’ve based much of my education on how to make rational decisions, and I do so professionally, now. This is a Game Theory/Utility Theory approach to answering the very question posed in this thread.
First things first: we need a payoff matrix that addresses all the possible outcomes of our decision. On our end, we can either buy TEP for $8 a month (assume the entire two-year contract, so a total of $192), or we don’t. (Note that, as of 6/17/2012, the monthly rate will be $11, and the deductible can go as high as $200. I will address this later.) The part we don’t know is whether or not we’ll break our phones. Additionally, if we do break our phones, we don’t know how many times they’ll break. So the task is to generalize this decision strategy for all circumstances, and then you can make a decision about buying TEP based on whether or not you think you’re likely enough to use it.
Let k be the number of times we break our phone.
Let x be the cost of replacing the phone without TEP.
If we insure the phone and it breaks, the payout is -192-100k. ($192 for TEP over two years, $100 deductible for each phone)
If we insure the phone and it doesn’t break, the payout is –192.
If we don’t insure the phone and it breaks, the payout is –xk.
If we don’t insure the phone and it doesn’t break, the payout is 0.
So we get:

}
Now, the key to determining the optimal strategy is to determine at what point we become indifferent between our available strategies. So if we let p represent the probability of breaking our phones (k times), we generate the following equation:
Since we want to know what the probability of breaking our phone would have to be in order to justify TEP, we solve for p:
Now that we have a formula, let’s consider some situations.
Suppose you’re only likely to break your phone once over the two years of your contract (k=1), and that you would replace it with a brand new EVO 4G LTE ($550). Then:
This means that, if there was a 42.7% chance of breaking your phone once, and you’d replace it with a new EVO, your expected payoff is the same whether you go with TEP or not. Now that we know that, we can conclude the following. If you are more than 42.7% likely to break your EVO once, and you’d replace it with a new EVO, you should get TEP.
Now that you’re saying “wait, I’d never replace it with a brand new phone,” let’s assume that a used one would cost you $300.
That’s right—if you could find a replacement for $300, you’d have to be more than 96% likely to break your phone for TEP to be worth it. Mathematically, you can also show that if you can find a replacement for less than $292, you should absolutely NOT buy TEP, assuming you’d only break your phone once over two years—TEP becomes a strictly dominated strategy. To demonstrate:
As you can see, there is no outcome where TEP costs less.
Now let’s look at the formula again.
The variable k, which represents the number of times we break the phone, is just a multiplier for the denominator. What this means is, if you were to break the phone twice, the probability of doing so would have to be half of what it was if you broke it once to be indifferent. So if you were to replace two broken phones with two new EVOs, the probability of doing this would only need to be higher than 42.7%/2 = 21.35% for TEP to be the smart decision. If you were to replace the broken phones with used ones that cost $300, the probability would have to be higher than 48% (96%/2) for this to be the rational choice. And for TEP to never make sense (p>1), you’d have to find used phones whose average cost was less than $196. If you were to break your phone thrice, you should invest in a case. And probably insurance, too.
Now let’s briefly look at what is going to happen on June 17th, when Sprint raises rates. We’ll assume the $200 deductible for the EVO 4G LTE, since it’s a premier device. (If you want to assume otherwise, it only changes the denominator to -150 instead of -200.)
To save space, the same algebra as earlier results in:
If you were to break your phone once, you’d have to find a phone that costs less than $464 for TEP to be a dominated strategy. Surely a used EVO 4G LTE will cost less than this.
If you were to replace it with a brand new $550 EVO 4G LTE, you’d have to be more than 75.4% likely to break your phone to justify TEP.
ONLY YOU can determine for yourself whether TEP is a good idea, because only you know how prone to breaking phones you are. In a decade of owning a mobile phone, I’ve never had one break. So I would consider the likelihood of me breaking a phone to be so low that TEP is more likely to cost me money than to save me money. I’m certainly not likely to break multiple phones. Hell, I dropped my EVO 4G onto a stone walkway as I pulled it from my pocket two nights ago, for the first time since I’ve owned it (a year and eight months). Literally, as of me writing this, two nights ago. I don’t have anything more than a Zagg shield on it, and it didn’t break. So I’m not doing TEP. If you’ve broken a few phones in your day, do the math. How much do you think you can find a used EVO 4G LTE for? What is YOUR probability of breaking one phone in a two year contract? (The number of broken phones divided by number of two year contracts you’ve signed [or the number of years you’ve had a mobile phone divided by two].) These aren’t hard calculations to do, and taking a few minutes to work with them can save you a lot of money.
And there’s another factor for you to consider personally—is it easier for you to pay $8 a month and a $100 deductible than the cost of a replacement phone all at once? If you don’t have a credit card or a good financial cushion, perhaps dropping $300 on a used phone is scary to you. But in that case, I’d put my $8 a month into a savings account to soften the blow if a phone did break on me, and I’d buy a case to decrease that probability. At least then, if it doesn’t break, it’s still my money.
In conclusion, I’ll remind you of the two formulas, and urge you to take a few minutes thinking about this, before throwing your money away.
If you’re reading this prior to 6/17/2012:
If you’re reading this on or after 6/17/2012:
If you determine the probability of breaking your phone k times and replacing it with a phone that costs x is higher than p, then get TEP. Otherwise, don’t.
Note: 6/17 TEP info from here.

Wow. That is an awesome analysis of TEP. I was thinking about doing Ensquared'smobile insurance policy. I can't access squaretrade's website to compare but I'm pretty sure Squaretrade has a set limit for the amount they will pay for claims, and when you reach your limit you are pretty much out of luck. Anybody have experience with either?

I'm also considering Ensquared, but haven't heard a peep from anyone here regarding them. The price is lower, the deductible is lower, the maximum coverage is higher... seems like a winner to me!

thanks but good thing i got the phone from wirefly do they charge a restocking fee?
I thought you weren't trying to scare people from getting this phone. Jeez man, give it up already, do you think people are not aware of this already? I thought the first thread was just ur opinion, now it seems like you dont even want people trying the phone. You will never find out how the phone is if you dont try it for yourself.
I wonder where the mods are in these forums. I vote close thread.

Not insane, just saying the thread is pointless, people will get this phone to try out for themselves regardless of the restocking fee. First a thread about why he wont be getting evo 3d and the list of reasons and warning people about restocking fee. No not insane, I am prefectly sane and regardless of the restocking fee I will be trying out this phone out for myself. All these threads are pointless, the reviews have been mixed.
go get the phone and try it for yourself I am sure the 35 dollar restocking fee is not going to stop anyone and most of the time they waive the fee if you are not an a-hole about it.
I just dont like people passing on opinions without having the phone in their hands.
omg $35, that's a fortune!!!! wait its 2011 not 1884. Who cares about $35 if you aren't happy with the phone?
If you don't want to pay the fee, just call them up and swear up and down that the last rep you talked to told you that because the phone was new (just launched), you would be able to get the fee waived if you didn't like the 3D effect. That should get you a waived fee, tell them it makes you feel ill.

Totally different question. I recently renewed my contract for 2 years so that I can hopefully get the Evo3D. If for some reason I don't like the plan and the costs, will they cancel my renewed contract? I heard they had like a 30 day grace period of renewals.
Hopefully it's true. Because if I don't get the discounts that I applied for, then this contract is useless.
Ah...no. YOURS is a useless post.
With what is now a virtual consensus from mobile phone sites of issues with this device, some, like me are formulating plans B and C IF the thing has to be returned. I checked into the thread because I was interested in what the Sprint restocking policy is.
Thread had use to me. Yours is a paranoid presumption of false motives of the OP.

Yes, if you return your phone within the 30 days, your contract will be reset back to like it was before you upgraded to the EVO 3D.
OMFG?!?!? $35? Im spending 200 on the phone, if I wanted to I could turn around and sell it for an easy 400-450, and go back to my EVO.

From Sprint Evo 3D to AT&T Galaxy S2

Well here's my story for whoever wants to listen. I started with sprint not that long ago, with the Evo 4G. I came from T-mobile, and from the minute I started with sprint I really loved the service. I add my father to my plan, so i have a family plan for two, coming out to about 170 dollars when all is said and done. I started wondering if I really needed to be paying that much, because on my family plan we use about 200 out of the 1500 minutes we get every month, and we don't have 4G in the area. I do some research and find that i can do the 700 minute plan on AT&T with 2gb of data each for about 145 a month. That would equate to about 300 dollars a year, something worth considering.
SO, I call up sprint, I have a nice tone, and ask them if I am able to lower my bill in any way. They are obviously making money off of my minutes, and whether or not they may credit my account because I can save 25 dollars with no consequences just by switching companies. Lower support tells me there is nothing they can do, and I tell them that I am going to cancel the lines. "One second please," "let me transfer you to our retentions department." Ok I feel like maybe retentions will do something for me. So after talking to the first level of retentions, she tells me that there is nothing they can do and that if I would like to lower my bill I can switch to a feature phone. What??? So I tell them that that is simply not an option, and that I'll just cancel the lines. "One moment please, have a talk with my supervisor." The supervisor again tells me to switch to a feature phone, and I say that that is not an option and that I would just like to cancel the lines. She rudely responds, "Alright is that all I can help you with today?" I questionally respond "I guess so," and she hangs up the phone.
Now I'm pissed, I have to do this all over again, and I end up transfering my lines to AT&T and saving the money. I had spoken with one more sprint associate, and asked if they would rather lose both my contracts then to credit my account for 20 dollars a month, and was basically told yes.
I am pleased on AT&T and the GS2 is a great phone. AT&T actually made a mistake setting up my account, and credited my first month with 30 dollars and 100 free minutes.
This 20 billion dollar iPhone deal seems to have Sprint by the balls, sorry just felt like venting.
You know, I usually never say this, but I have to:
Cool story, bro.
Seriously, none of us care what you do. It's your life, do what you want. Sometimes I just wish XDA would open up a complaint forum for people to vent in.
This wasn't me trying to tell you guys about "what I'm doing." It was me telling you about an unsatisfactory experience with multiple sprint employees and their inability to keep a customer when it is more or less known fact that people get credits to their accounts.
Now I know that you probably got butt hurt when you saw the GS2 in these forums, and that was probably responsible for your douche bag response. I loved sprint, they had awesome customer service. Had to make a decision with my wallet this time and the sprint employees didn't exactly help in this situation.
Your unsatisfactory experience is that they didn't give you free money, that's all. I mean, it sucks that you got a rude CS associate, but still, the jist is you wanted free money for no reason. You were basically blackmailing them by saying "give me free money or I'm switching".
And no, I didn't get "butt hurt" by seeing GS2. I got annoyed because you just want something for free.
You must either be trolling me or just don't know much about how companies work??? I did not just want free money. I expressed to them over and over again that I would like to stay with sprint. If I can pay less for the same amount of usage at another company, why would you not want to price match, unless it was going to cause you to lose money overall? They could take my 150$, or they could take nothing, and they chose nothing. Sorry if this offends you.

He was arguing his usage of few few minutes to lower the price since they were far below the talk time for that plan.
So where as Sprint caters to those who use more at low prices.
He needs a Plan that caters to users who use less, allotted less & pay less.
This was a case of the wrong carrier choice. AT&T would work out for people who use less, Sprint works well for people who use more.
Whats weird is my dad called sprint and we had the 3000 family plan in which they had no problem lowering it to the 1500 plan which saved us somewhere around $20-$30 a month. Not sure why there not willing to keep a customer because instead of making $1300+ a year off of you now they get none of that.
But just remember AT&T has the worst customer service supposidly.
I agree, Sprint currently has all or nothing plans. I think if they want to attract customers they have to have more options. especially in terms of their family plans. I don't like their one size fits all types of plans but it is what it is I guess.

+1 on this. I really don't know why that is. I use to have a family plan $40/month where I have unlimted data, sms, mms, and the other line was flip phones with just voice. There is no such plan anymore. All family plans now if their with data then all the phones have to have data. Doesnt make sense to me.
What you guys have been talking about is pretty much my point. If your competitors offer similar plans, why not do so yourself? 1500 minutes and unlimited data is not really necessary for a two person plan, yet that's their only option. Sorry for being unclear and sounding like I was complaining about not simply getting a discount, I guess sprint just wasn't a good fit for me, shame for them though because I was willing to stay if they had a competitive plan.

Yeah, pretty soon they will be charging us more for a replacement than the phones retail for.
Another awesome move by Sprint to show how much they appreciate their customers...oh wait, I mean another move by a failing company trying to squeeze every last penny from it's customers in hopes of staying afloat. Just file for bankruptcy already.

I don't either. People need to realize that these phones are not cheap. Some reach the $600-$700 dollar mark. If I have to pay $11.00 a month for piece of mind that if I drop my $650.00 phone in the toilet, that I only have to pay $150.00 to $200.00 to get it replaced instead of $650.00.

Well, I have had Sprint FOREVER. I have 4 of the old SERO accounts. And I've had TEP all along. It truly has paid for itself over the years. They gave me free upgrades to newer phones over and over. Samsung i-300 to i-330 to i-500 to Treo 600 to 650 to 700p to 755. Can't complain about that. I basically got a new phone once per year as my old phone would have something go wrong with it. Then I started back to buying new phones because I just could not wait for the latest and greatest.
All that being said, 4 lines at $11 each. Hmmm. That's $44 per month. Historically, I don't have to replace 1 out of the 4 phones any more often than once per year. So $528 per year to get a $150-$200 replacement. Starting to look like I could just buy a replacement phone off craigslist for a lot less. Heck, even a month after the Galaxy SII released, I could find them all day long on CL for $250-ish.
I guess a TEP decision is in my near future.
Maybe I should insure through Geek Squad, LOL!
Isn't this the same thing as the fee on 4G devices that started with the OG EVO? I'm assuming so.
Good thing I already have tep since 2004.

Nope. That is a high-speed data charge. This is an increased fee for the TEP (Total Equipment Protection) insurance policy that you can purchase from Sprint on a monthly basis.

But if you get a new LTE phone, the new charges will still apply to you.
I dropped TEP years ago. Bought my last 2 phones(Epic, and Epic Touch) on craigslist for $200 each. Haven't had any problems with either.

It's cause of people that come in to have their phone replaced for stupid reasons (like light bleeding from around the bottom of the screen). It's whatever. It'll cost an extra 6 a month for me to cover my two phones. It's not like I'm going to up and leave my SERO plan.

I stopped these stupid plans once they raised it to $100.00 deductable.
They are covered under warranty for 1 year any way and I tend to replace the phone every year anyway.
I don't use a case and have never needed a claim.
I could have 2 phones lost or dunked in the next 6 months and I'd still be ahead.
After a year you can usually find the phone for $200.00 new on ebay which is what you would have spent on TEP for 1 year plus the $100.00 deductable.
And they send you a refurb to boot.
Just not worth it any more.
Agreed. That is if you have to go through Asurion. You can just get phones off craigslist for cheaper. I didnt use TEP at all for my Evo 4g. Once for my Evo 3d but it was done free by sprint so there was no deductible on my part. Which brings me to this question. Are they still technically split in under 2 types of warranty? Certain $ amount for standard Sprint and the rest for Asurion? If this is the case I may still want to keep Sprint extended warranty and just get rid of Asurion. Atleast if it fails under Sprint warranty theres no deductible.
"if you don't like sprint (and or price changes that are stated to change at anytime in the contract THAT YOU SIGNED!!!!) then you can giiiit oouuutt"
Dropped TEP on our 3 lines a couple months ago. Daughter dropped her OG Evo and cracked the screen. Went to store and they said to call insurance for $100 replacement. They won't even deal with cracked screens any longer in store. USed to be they would change it out for no charge or even $30 or so. Decided to change out the screen myself and saved $50. Now I save $24 per month.
Does this mean if I upgrade from my evo 3d to a galaxy nexus they'll forcibly increase my TEP cost to $11 a month? (I pay $4 right now)
I Cancelled that crap like 6 months ago when i realized how much money I was giving them over 6 years and the one time I actually tried to use insurance(capacitive light staying lit) and they wouldn't fix it but wanted me to pay $100 to replace it with a used phone..
If I break my phone,im an idiot for being so careless and if I want to replace it I will pay the money to replace it.So needless to say, good for them, get that money but it wont me mine.

Yeah I didn't realize that until I read the Sprint ad again. Ah well. I think TEP is worth it.... Every phone I had with Sprint had some sort of issue and when I take it into Sprint, they usually replace it for free.
Why is my phone insurance getting to be as expensive as my motorcycle insurance? I can't do wheelies on my phone at 80 on busy highways

Common Verizon Wireless Asurion Coverage Misconception [It is Covered]

I've seen a lot of people asking if their 6P is covered by Asurion through Verizon and I would like to clear up any misconceptions or questions about the matter. I have seen a lot of conflicting information or wrong assumptions on the forum. This is all based on my experience and conversations I have had with BOTH Verizon and Asurion and I am 100% confident it is true. I have called to verify and if I wished I could make a claim on my 6P. The option was validated and presented to me by a manager of their customer support.
There are two types of coverage through Verizon Wireless. Total Mobile Protection and Total Equipment Coverage. Total Mobile Protection includes Total Equipment Coverage.
Total Equipment Coverage includes both Verizon's Extended Warranty Program and the Asurion Wireless Phone Protection.
If your line has Total Equipment coverage and you currently have a 6P activated then your Verizon Extended Warranty Program eligibility is nullified. For the simple reason that they do not carry the phone in stores, thus they will not extend the warranty of troubleshoot it. Pretty straight forward. However, the Asurion Wireless Phone Protection does still apply. Asurion's insurance applies to any device that is both activated and natively supported by Verizon's network. The 6P does in fact activate, and stock is 100% compatible with their network. Thus they will honor the insurance and issue a claim for the device, no problem.
So, while the Extended Warranty is useless, the insurance is valid and, in my mind, worth the $8 a month I pay for it rather than mess with nexus protect where theft is not covered and the deductible is essentially the same.
I cannot guarantee that they will replace the phone with a Nexus 6P, though it does look likely. The manager wasn't sure and was going to get back to me. They have a relationship with most of the major US carriers, so the manager is confident they will carry them.
Note: This also applies to the Nexus 5x and the Moto X Pure Edition and any other phone natively compatible with Verizon's network

The deductibles are so high that I would think nexus protect or squaretrade would be better still, at least in my past experience with asurion.

I could be grandfathered into a lower deductible but I only paid $100 dollars when my phone was stolen on the train. Is it higher for others?
Someone snatched it out of my hand when I was pulling it out of my pocket. Living in a large city and taking public transportation I find the theft coverage important.
Am I correct in my understanding that my Nexus Protect would be great for a defective or broken phone to ensure I get a brand new unit from Google, while Assurion will cover a lost/stolen phone? I don't think Nexus Protect covers lost/stolen, only damage.

Nexus Protect does not cover lost\stolen devices. You need to be able to return the device to Google. Considering there have been people receiving warranty replacements already that claim to be refurbished from Google rather than new, you might be slightly more likely to receive a new device but I wouldn't count on it.

It's $200 for the highest "tier" which is usually brand new flag ships (I would think includes the 6P). After the phone is out for 6 months or something it may drop to a lower tier which is like $150 or so.
At least with ATT/Verizon versions of it as I understand. But I think that you might get a lower deductible after you pay for the protection for a long time but haven't really used it.

edit:
But square trade and nexus protect do not cover stolen phones, I didn't realize that so nevermind
well crap... i didn't pay close attention i guess. so my phone is covered against damage but not theft. that's no good. already paid for nexus protect though so guess i'm stuck!

Go figure. I got Nexus Protect to make sure if I break it I get a 6P but did not cancel TEC since I have a grandfathered rate.

So I have a G4 that I originally got on device payment and recently bought my 6p. I have the insurance through Verizon but I'm not sure whether it's total mobile out total equipment protection. That being said, if I try a claim on my 6p do you think it would be valid? I could do the manufacturer warranty with the G4 if it's an equipment issue I know, but I'm wondering what the deal is since I pretty much use both phones on the same line.

My Asurion coverage was dropped by Verizon after I did a sim swap from Nexus 6 to Nexus 6p. I called both Verizon and Asurion to see why. The Asurion rep told me they would cover the device as long as the coverage was active on my Verizon account. So I called Verizon to see why it was removed. They told me the device had to be purchased through Verizon or one of its authorized retailers in order to keep that coverage. Anybody got a good recommendation for third party insurance? It has to cove lost or stolen. I'm more worried about my device being stolen than I am about breaking it.

Device Protection for Nexus 5X and 6P with Fi is finally here!

Source
Hi Folks,
Protect your Nexus 5X or 6P from drops, cracks, and spills with device protection, now available for devices purchased from Project Fi.
With device protection, you can quickly get your phone replaced in the event of:
Accidental damage (including drops, cracks, and spills)
Mechanical breakdown (beyond the 1-year manufacturer's warranty period)
Enroll your phone for $5/month. A deductible will apply for device protection replacements ($69 for Nexus 5X, $99 for 6P).
If you’ve already purchased a Nexus 5X or 6P from Project Fi, log on to fi.google.com to enroll your device for a limited time. If you’re purchasing a new Nexus 5X or 6P from Project Fi, you can enroll during checkout or up to 30 days after shipment. Be sure to activate Project Fi service within this time window.

Hi what do you think guys if you cancel or pause your project fi service they will cancel your plan or you can still pay $5 a month and be covered I can't find anything about this in the agreement.
I was thinking originally to use my phone bare and pay for the Device protection, but I think is just to pricey. In case you need to replace it in the first year, you have to pay $150. $210 in the second year. Meanwhile, you can get a decent case for less than $10. I have never had damaged a phone so far, and my Nexus 5 did need replacement (twice) but all happened within the year. So I guess for me, it's worth to take the risk.

Well just try and keep it mind it doesn't just cover damage, it also covers hardware failure beyond the 1 year manufacturers warranty. In my experience, most flagship phones end up having issues especially early in production. It's actually happened with pretty much every phone I've owned in the last five years. Charging ports that failed in the droid charge, speakers that died in the droid maxx, screen flickering in the Galaxy S4. Sometimes its better to be safe than sorry as the problems often don't appear within the 1st year, especially if it involves a manufacturing defect.
this is an even worse rip off than nexus protect. check out upsie. basically the same coverage for a fraction of the cost
I pay $8/month for insurance on T-Mobile and I paid $9/month on Verizon. You guys really think $5/month is a ripoff?
FYI you still pay the deductible on both other carriers. Have you guys not ever paid for phone insurance before?
It's not that serious, buy it or don't.

$5 a month is too much. I use Upsie.com. I switched my stuff from Best Buy to them. Figured out I was over paying.
Kind of sh*tty that they won't offer this to people who bought their N6p's through the Google Store. The people who bought from the Google store had to pay for the entire 2 year protection plan up front ($89). Project Fi is owned by Google so why the hell wouldn't they extend the same service to Google Store consumers?
Strike one for Project Fi. Hopefully they don't get to three.

I'm not sure I understand your complaint. Google store coverage 2 years for 89, projectfi 120 for the same two years of coverage. I would have gladly paid upfront for Nexus protect as opposed to a monthly fee.

There are also coverage plans you can purchase from other insurance providers within a certain time frame. Squaretrade just requires a receipt and $99 for 2 years.

I agree. Better deal to buy it outright. Actually, I originally ordered my 6P from Amazon. But then found out I could not get the Nexus Protect for it. It's a little cheaper than the Squaretrade plan, the deductible is a bit higher ($14) and the coverage seems similar. I just felt in this case, the plan from Google was the way to go. So I returned the Amazon one unopened and ordered it from Google with the plan.
I've had device insurance either through the carrier or squaretrade for many years, and only used it once. Probably would have been money ahead just putting that money into a bank account.
Anyone here try upsie? It's very cheap. Enough to make me suspicious

Pretty obvious what my "complaint" (if you can call it that) is. Some of us might not need the full 2 year coverage. Some of us like to pay as we go because some of us are always on the hunt for greener grass. Some of us could probably find better device coverage within 2-3 months...... Therefore, some of us like having the option to just use it as temporary coverage until we find that greener grass....
....some of us.

Well there's nothing wrong with not wanting a full two years of coverage if you are one of the many XDA users who switch out devices constantly, but one thing you might not have noticed is Nexus protect is also transferable. Just add the cost onto the phone when you go to resell it, as most people would love to buy a used phone with an actual warranty. It's really a win win for everyone.

Yep. It's transferable and that's peachy, but I don't want to dump $90 all at once without knowing all of my options (present & future).....and....like I said in my last post....having that $5 a month coverage is a good temporary option until I find something more permanent.
