I have updated to ICS stock, have a twrp 2.0 on the phone. It is unlocked and am super user. I tried to add beats audio through a file in recovery. The phone rebooted and showed android upgrading. Then it showed a system processing error, wait or ok? I had to pull the battery since it wouldn't respond at this point. Tried to reboot and get a black screen with haptic feedback. I tried a few more times and never got the screen to show. Finally used the All-in one-tool to get into recovery. Tried to wipe and fix permissions multiple times. Phone still does the android upgrading and after that it gives the system processing error.
Finally said to hell with it and tried to reinstall the stock ICS. That was a no go. My question is what is my best choice. I think the reinstall didn't work because the phone is unlocked. I am a noob here so hang with me here. Should I go back to stock recovery with Gingerbread and start completely over? I am worried about losing access to recovery and fully bricking the phone. Or do I just try another custom ICS rom, which doesn't make sense if my system is already corrupt. My concern with that is that most of the new roms need EXT4, which I don't have.
What is the cleanest way for a noob to get his phone back?
I would say if you did nandroid back up start from there. Restote then do it all over again. new ROMs dont really require 4EXT, its just recommended. I use it myself. you can try flashing ICS custom rom, i recommend Energy.

First off my backup doesn't show in TWRP. I have no clue what happened there.
I tried to install Energy Rom. After clearing cache/dalvik. I installed the ph85img.zip in bootloader and then went into recovery. The nrg rom doesn't show up in my file system. I tried to mount only to find windows wants to format.
Its gone from bad to worse for me. My sd-ext card folder shows nothing and I only have a TWRP folder in the sdcard folder.
Do I go for broke and try install GB stock recovery or am I missing something?
Thanks

Try using different sd card, or back up the sd card and format it. Put back ph85img.zip and make sure its(
Ph85img) only on the root of the sdcard. Keep trying. I had to do it twice before when flashing the ics stock through bootloader.
It takes time to get everything go through

I am now having trouble trying to charge the battery enough to flash. I take it won't flash using AC Power with the battery plugged into the phone? Also do you think I need to relock the phone if I am going to try and reflash ICS or does that not matter?
Yeah, no more Beats audio for me. Just thought the headphones weren't sounding so great as on my previous ROM.
Thanks for the help .. Sorry to have posted in the wrong forum. It was late and I was frustrated. It is however murder not having a phone, I miss it so..
Does the phone charge faster using Recovery, Hboot or the black screen I get with haptic feedback? On the black screen the orange light stays lit for about a half an hour then the orange light goes off. I have tried charging like that for about four hours - who knows how much of that was actually charging it. I have no idea what the phone is doing during that time. Obviously something is running since the icons have feed back.
The phone seemed to charge better in hboot hooked up to the AC adapter. When I tried to flash it actually unzipped the PH85img, then showed I didn't have enough battery. It had previously shown not enough battery power when bootloader started.
Sucks that TWRP shows 66% battery no matter the status. I'd love to know if it was even charging.
Finally sweet success!!! I did have to relock for the zip to take.
Thanks for holding my hand.
What a waste of a day though. I think I read more than 300 pages on XDA. All for beats...

This is very weird, I posted this on certain Roms threads thinking it is a rom issue.
When I flash certain roms I cannot get pass the htc white screen. I tried this with Synergy and Viper, CursedDragon. When I flash the rom only it will hang for a while in the white screen then goes black and reboot to the white screen ....over and over.
here is what works with some roms. I will have to take the battery out, hold the vol down then power to get back to recovery and flash different kernel (not the same kernel works for every rom).
I got this way to work with Viper and CursedDragon but not able to find a kernel to flash over the latest Synergy.
I have tried the file to do a complete wipe but it didn't work.
Is this normal? Any ideas. I was thinking to put back my 8G SD since I have replaced with a 16G SD or to revert my phone back and start root again from the beginning?
What do you think?

All I know I am in a similar situation, after trying another kernel, with viper and I am stuck like chuck. so far my phone is stuck on the HTC White Screen, and it goes no further, I can only get into recovery and that is it really, my phone is no good to me as of right now. So I just got back from Jersey and I am in bumble f..k wv, and no one will help me here. Its rooted, and the bootloader is off, or the radio I should say, but I tried many chips and I wasnt able to get past the white screen, So if anyone can help please email me, [email protected] i would really appreciate it. Try to download few kernels to your pc (silverneedle, natarchy...). Mount your sd from your phone recovery and put those files there, and apply one the time then reboot (silverNeedle worked for me)
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
If you guys are trying to flash custom kernels over 2.3.4 roms, it will fail. If you are sticking on splash or lopping it could be a wipe issue, try one of the superwipe zips. Otherwise, more info about your device/system would be needed. Good luck.
Not just custom kernels, with some roms it will not take any, not even the included one.
I am trying to flash Synergy-3DVO_RLS1_08-21-11(NIGHTLY).zip but it doesn't work in my phone. it keepa rebooting on the first htc screen.
I used both recoveries, just to make sure if it might work with one of them.
I rooted my phone with the very first root guide that came out, first temp then revolutionary and now it is on S OFF RL.
I used the super wipe files but don't seem to work.
Can you help with any suggestions?

I'm having a similar issue with my phone. I did a Nandroid Backup (Amon RA Recovery) of my existing ROM and then I rebooted without flashing any new files. The phone boots where I can see the clock and then it reboots itself and continues to do the same thing. I flashed the Super Wipe file and then flashed the new ROM that I wanted to move to and everything is fine.
Does anybody know why this is happening? I should be able to perform a Nandroid Backup without any changes and be able to boot into my existing setup. I like flashing new ROMs every now and again and this obviously prevents me from wanting to do anything. Any help is appreciated!
try using twrp Recovery instead of Amon RA here is the link for the new version

it wont load past the HTC screen..
flashed WARM-3.5-evo3d-unofficial-r100.zip
from sdcard.
had down a factory wipe initially.. tried clearing dalvik cache again but still cannot get past htc screen. ugh
correction i flashed to r119.zip
Did you wipe system as well? How long are you giving it at the HTC Splash screen before you decide it's frozen? I haven't been keeping up to date with the Warm train lately, so I'm not sure if there have been any issues with the builds. I know back in the day, sometimes the build bot that myn used would bork a build from time to time and it wouldn't flash. Have you tried flashing any other builds, or just r119?
yes i did a complete wipe initially.. flashed.. got stuck at screen.. i left it there for 2-3 mins with no response.. just hovering at the HTC screen. I have not tried flashing any other roms as I wasnt sure what if any adverse affect this may have on the current problem

Before you go any further in trying to figure it out, I would let it sit at the HTC screen a bit longer than a couple minutes. I've had it hang there for 5 or 6 minutes on certain sense roms that I flash, especially on the first boot. Give it a solid 7 minutes or so, and if it's still hanging there..then yea it's stuck. After that, I would simply try flashing something else and see if it works. Perhaps you got a bad download as well, maybe try re downloading it.
suggestions on how to move rom to sdcard if phone isnt booting hence PC isnt seeing the drive?
is it possible to go back to stock rom if this doesnt work?

Transfer it to the SD card from recovery. I'm not sure what recovery you're on, but every recovery has the feature to mount the sd card from within recovery. It's like USB MS Toggle or something to that nature. In TWRP 2, I think it's under the 'mount' tab.
Did you just try turning it on again yet, and seeing if it will eventually get past the HTC Screen? Again, it could take a bit more than 2 or 3 minutes on the first boot.
EDIT: And yea, you should be able to get back to a stock ROM no problem, or at least get back to a functioning phone, lol. Did you make a nandroid of your stock setup right after you rooted, before you tried flashing warm?
no i didnt make a nandroid backup sadly. im letting it sit for 10 mins before i give up on tyhis version
I don't think that ROM will boot as I'm pretty sure it has no boot image in it. Joelz was doing some stuff on the later builds and removed the bootimage.
Go into the thread and look for Vin's post. He is on the front page or on post 2. He has been the one updating the ROM for Joelz. the last version I knew of was around 01/12 or so?

Ok, so apprently I am running cwm, I thought I was running amon ra to be honest but here is my problem:
Ok, I had cleanrom on my phone, lost 4g so started messing around. When I go into CWM Recover v5.8.1.4 and try to reinstall a rom or anything I just get the little CWM icon, It will not go into any option I choose. I have to pull the battery to restart. But the screen will not turn on when I push the power. Only think I can do is boot into bootloader. VZW rep said they can replace it, but was afraid I would get charged from HTC since its prob my fault. Any suggestions?
Hmm. Boot into bootloader, plug in via usb. Flash Ruu or new recovery (probably RUU)

alright I have discovered what I've done wrong....the phone still isnt working but heres how it happened.
I did flash amon ra, and clean rom. Once I got it all setup, I downloaded ROM Manager, this has killed the phone. Like I said everything I try to flash a new rom from zip on sd, the little rom manager dude blocks me. Any suggestions on how to get rid of him so I can reflash. When I plug the phone into my computer to adb device it is not found. I have download HTC Sync.
you need to be in fastboot for it to be found
Ah the old charging problems. That's right. This guide should work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722989&highlight=clockwork+boot
Your phone isn't bricked, relax. For some reason none of us quite know, when any rezound with clockworkmod on it reaches fully low low battery and turns off it no longer charges correctly.
I think i might have got to comfortable with my phone and possibly screwed something up in the process.
I recently have been Installing and Removing various ROMS on my phone so I can find one I am happy with and stick to as a DAILY.
I recently deleted from the SD Card all the folders in it besides DCIM, MUSIC, and my own Media. I figured its just an SD Card even if I removed it the phone should still operate. But I haven't touched anything Internally on the phone itself. Just always making CLEAN installs before installing ROMS under Amon Ra WIPE ALL. Which it skips my SD.
So for some reason now I have no Mobile Network on my phone it says its Disconnected. It also shows Full bars but with a TRIANGLE
over it now. I want to go back to regular data. I have a Nandroid Backup of my HTC Rezounds FACTORY ICS Build. While it help if I reverted to that? and started over with the ROM I like?
Have you tried long pressing on Mobile Network in settings and seeing if you it shows LTE/CDMA?
It does, and it is selected.
Take a look at this.
I found a way to take it off of ROAMING. In system select I switched the CDMA ROAMING MODE from Automatic B (I think it was) to Home.
I have a feeling it has something to do with a rom I installed last night. MIUI it might have change some options in the phone internal system
to thinking its not in the US. Im running stock ICS HTC at the moment from my NAN backup of Amon Ra. But at the moment its showing FULL SIGNAL BARS
& then seconds later no Signal Bars with an X over it. The verizon wireless rep told me that I was connecting to their SERVERS. I can also make calls but only under Automatic B settings in Roaming.
Im not sure what to do at this point. I wish there was someway I could reset the phone SIGNAL OR DATA OR CONNECTION SETTINGS or radio or something. o DEFAULT. I even reset back to my NANDROID Backup and WIPED all before I did that and I was still having the same problem. It doesnt make sense to me unless its a TOWER near by that is Out of order.

You always have the option of flashing a RUU and with that putting your phone back to bone stock.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
i would say start from scratch, flash the global ruu twice, pull the. zip followed by a factory reset. thats what I would do, if I was in your shoes.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Or reflash your ROM. If you can do a dirty flash you can just flash over it and I think you won't lose your set up. That should restore any necessary folders/files if that's the issue.
Oh! What about this... Format it in recovery or via your phone in settings. Since there's that option it should put whatever is needed on there.
If you can't tell, I'm just brainstorming here... I don't know what the files and folders are but seems to me formatting it from within the phone should work or why would you be able to do it?
EDIT: I just reread your post where you posted the pic. I guess you probably have more issues than just the ext sd. Probably best to RUU it and get back to stock and start from scratch. Then you know it's all good and clean.
Thanks

You don't need to factory reset after running the RUU, it puts it all back to factory stock anyway. Relock before you run it:
fastboot oem lock
And after it's done you'll need to unlock again and flash a recovery, root, then flash custom rom.

Are you S-On or Off? If S-On, your nandroid may have missed a file that is necessary that can only be replaced by flashing a RUU. Just throwing ideas against the wall.
If I remember correctly, a nandroid from S-On can't touch the kernel and coming from MIUI there may be files that are missing or modified.
In that case, you may be able to pull the stock boot.IMG from the RUU you were on and push that to restore the files.

Another funny thing is I've before restored my Nandroid backup when I needed it with a ROM I had that was Unstable and it was working like it should I was back to normal.
Im thinking it has something to do with their towers in my area. But I called a friend that has Verizon as well and he seems to be handling alright.
I just dont get it. Im going to try that RUU flash and see if that works after I eat dinner and possibly relock my phone.

Quoted the wrong post this is for the zip files.
You should only have to shorten the name to PH98IMG. All the RUUs I've seen are some longer name (usually the name of the site hosting them_PH98IMG.)
Then just place it on the root of your external SD and boot into Hboot.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Are you still working on this?
You should be able to RUU from a zip file. Just make sure it's named PH98IMG.zip, put it on your card and then boot into hboot. It should find that file and run it. Let it run through a few times, do its thing and it should reboot when it's done.
I came back here cuz I just ran across this post from another thread:

So that guy is using his phone normally without the external card. What happens if you boot up with the external card out of the phone?
I think it has something to do with the hardware on my phone that started not functioning. I did try going into recovery wiping the whole phone wiping my sd card and then placing the zip file in my sd card. I then booted into H boot and from ADB locked my phone rebooted and then it started to read the zip file and reinstalled to factory reset. I let it reinstall the files let it do its thing it restarted a couple of times reinstalled everything needed went back into the lock screen and was still having the same issue till now. But it's okay because I called Verizon Wireless spoke with him on the phone and I still have my extended warranty on the phone and they concluded that it was a hardware issue so I got to replace my phone for free lol

Go to phone dialer and put *#*#3646#*#* then go to phone information. Look for a drop down menu and make sure its on CDMA/LTE Only (or anything really with CDMA and LTE in it, that specific one may not show up on your list depending on what ruu your on.) That changes the specifics of how the radio operates incoming connections. Set your data settings back to HOME and turn off roaming. Lemme know if that works.

Well let me explain my predicament. The other day I flash somex's something explosive rom after a wipe of the everything I need to wipe ( Data,Cache,Davlik) When it was finished flashing I got to rebooting. I ended up with a blank, yet illuminated screen ( if that makes sense) I waited about 20 minutes. After coming to the conclusion that the ROM doesn't work I did another wupe of everything needed. Then i flashed JoseGalre's ROM since it has aroma it told me that it had an error and coundln't finsih the instalation. I wiped again and reflashed, same error. I wanted to see what would happen if it let it boot up w/o recovery and it ended up in a boot loop. I tried to go back to 4ext and it seemed to load up just fine but half way through the startup it ends up back in the bootloop. I ran Hasoon's all in one kit and flashed TWRP and it worked just fine until I flash a rom. It seemed to be working just fine then it suddenly crashes and we're back in the loop. I've been trying to fix for the last few days but to no avail. I marked the title as urgent because my parents are going out of town for the weekend and I really need a phone. They havn't a clue that it doesn't work becausse they get home before me. Any help would be appreciated a great deal.
I've had something similar happen and freaked out my phone was down for half a day.
Try booting into the boot loader by holding vol down and power boot into recovery, wipe everything then format everything except SD card and try restoring a backup. Hopefully you made one or two in the past.

I don't think you wiped properly. You needed to format ALL PARTITIONS. I can't stress that enough lol.
Edit: Go into bootloader first. Hold volume down then hold power as well. Choose recovery and format all partitions. If that works you're good!
Use the toolkit and flash 4ext. And make sure whenever you flash Roms that you format all partitions.
If that doesn't work you need to flash a RUU, get it back to stock, it will still retain S OF. Then flash 4ext again. Your problems should be fixed for sure if my first method doesn't work.

Hey guys it completly out of the question to format my internal storage so keep that in mind
GB or IC RUU and which one?
You don't have to format internal storage just data, cache, system, and boot

Just choose format all partitions.
If you want to use a ruu use the T-Mobile ICS RUU.

So i changed the name of the RUU i download to PH85img.zip and use the all in one tool kit to flash it. The black htc loading screen came up. I waited until it finished and then the bootloader came up with a list of things it head to unzip and then load. After all of that was finished it gave me an error. After reading a message that you should get an error ( i now realize this was at another stage) so i though nothing of it and rebooted. A black screen with 4 warning triangles came up. I let it load all day and when i got home i plugged it back in and I noticed it looked like it was unplugging after securing the charger in I came the conclusion that it wasn't holding a charge and dying on the battery. Normally I would leave it alone but when you plug in the charger it turns itself on. I've began living with the fact that my phone is bricked. But any help would be appreciated.
BTW is there a way to get data (music pictures contacts) that were saved on the internal storage?
Probably should have gone with full caps on the PH85IMG.zip
It's easier just to put the zip on your external sdcard and gone in to bootloader.
