Hi all,
I tried to enter the Download mode on my Lumia 800 to discover my bootloader version but with the first method (" [...] press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER until you notice a short vibration.") I can't enter it (it simply turns On normally).
I read in some forums that there might be several way to enter the Download mode according to the version of Lumia you have. So my question if : any of You have any sort of list of the possible ways to enter the Doenload mode? So, at least, I can know if I am a lucky owner or not!
Thanks You all and sorry for my bad English.
Regards,
Davide

If you push photo button and turn on WM7 you enter in a new mode and zune try to restore phone.
Me zune cannot restore and return an error code.
Different phones have different key combinations you can press at startup to make boot into restore mode (to flash a new rom). Sounds like you found it. In order to restore, you usually need to have a special driver from the manufacturer. If you reboot the device (maybe remove the battery), it should return to normal mode.

The Service Mode key (e.g.: the camera button) was pressed at power-on.

it is true that he says that the phone will not turn on. But from my experience in the assistance of computers, the user loads the fact that the system is reported as "not turn on ". You have no idea how many times I went home carrying the replacement power supply because they said "not turn on", when they appeared "disk boot failure!" and the same thing I already happened with Italian users of smart phones. White screen at power on, boot loader ok but the owner stated that power on. I explained?

Project dead
All,
I inherited a seriously injured HTC surround, and I have decided to use it as a project phone.
Current status - Half Bricked on the bootloader + when it boots it immediately asks to be connected to restore backup. Unfortunately I have no zune backup and neither does the original owner of the device.
So I have read everything I could find on the half-brick issue and it seems that some folks are having success using the goldcard method to over write their boot loader with various HTC devices. I am will to try this but all the vids I have seen tutorials etc show that you have to put the device into enter usb host mode (blue writing on white screen)
Only problem is ....I have no idea how to do this on the Surround. I have tried every button combo on boot and cannot find it.
Someone here must know how to do this in return I will post my findings on whether or not the Goldcard trick works to repair a 1/2 brick surround.
Thanks

Now release battery and volume down buttons

Ok I can only get to the tricolor screen showing the 1/2 brick spl. is the the usb host mode? Because I see on some videos on youtube a white screen with blue writing that says enter usb host mode. This is what I am trying to achieve.
Or if this is the USB host mode should I just attempt to do the flash via gold card and see if I can get rid of teh 1/2 brick?
USB Host mode
To enter USB host mode turn off the phone, then press and hold VOL down + camera buttons, then press power.
But the phone will not enter USB host mode if you only see one line en the tricolor screen (this state is half bricked). For the phone to be able to enter USB host mode, the tricolor screen must have more than 1 line but the only missing part must be Serial/USB at the bottom. Check well the videos on youtube, and you will notice before entering USB host mode that the tricolor screen have more than 1 line (someone call this state small half bricked).
My phone is also half bricked (one line in the tricolor screen), the only solution I have found is to do an HTC OEM update, either by waiting for HTC to release an update (that includes a bootloader) through zune or by forcing it (for this the phone needs to be developer unlocked).
P.S. ChevronWP7 is not selling more unlocking tokens at the moment, and the $99 AppHub membership is too expensive for me.
Thanks Guys
After reading your posts I tried it out on my good surround and sure enough was dumped directly into Enter USB Host Mode screen
So now I am sitting here wondering what can I do with this thing it will not boot to anything but the screen to connect to restore backup.
Could I give anyone here anything useful about the device? Maybe disect it and post pics? Maybe someone could find these jtag posts? Or keep it for spare parts? Seems like a waste to just chuck it
Maybe you can repair it

rob243, you can try to install a new firmware, depending if the firmware is a version inferior to 2250.21.40500.502. You can use a tool called Cab Sender (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415) to send firmware version mondrian_2250.21.40500.502.cab (search in xda-developers), for the enter the phone to recovery mode (just press and hold CAMERA, then power, ang then release the 2 buttons).

Hi,
No gurantees, but try a hard reset;
With the 800 off press VOLUME DOWN-POWER-CAMERA all together
Wait for vibrate
Release POWER
Wait 10 seconds
Release all buttons
Lumia should vibrate
Power on
Hope it helps you get the phone backup..

If Hard Reset Method doesn't help you:
Actually, your Nokia Lumia has it's BOOTLOADER damaged.
The only thing that will work is RIFF JTAG.
You can solve this by going to Nokia Care / GSM Service.
Greetings from Romania.
Hey Guys, first of all, sorry if this has been mentioned before. I saw this thread and this one but the former isn't very clear and the latter has no answer.
So basically, my problem is that I'm trying to enter into the OSBL bootloader mode by holding the VOL UP key while inserting the USB cable, then letting go of VOL UP right after the short vibration. However, It doesn't work for me. All that happens is Device Manager shows "Nokia USB Connectivity" as pictured here. After a few seconds, I get a long vibrantion but the screen stays black. After another couple seconds, I get another long vibration and the phone boots up like normal.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've tried several different combos and nothing works so far. Am I simply supposed to flash the Qualcomm bootloader in the short time that the phone shows the "Nokia USB Connectivity" before it restarts itself?
I just bought the phone off eBay, but I don't think the previous owner had done any unofficial tweaking like this, so I guess it's at whatever the latest official update is.
More Info:
Nokia Lumia 710 (RM-809) (T-Mobile US)
OS Version: 7.10.8773.98
Bootloader Version: 7.33.0.0
Thanks!
Nevermind guys, I sorted it out. I just flashed the Qualcomm bootloader in the short amount of time that there is between the time the PC recognizes the phone, and the time when the photo automatically reboots back to WP7. Once the Qualcomm bootloader was successfully flashed (it only took a couple seconds), it doesn't automatically reboot anymore.

I am experiencing the same problem (ie. can not enter into OSBL mode, just 2 vibrations and restarts in normal mode). Can you please tell me step by step what should I do to enter into OSBL mode and quickly flash Qualcomm bootloader? Please Help.
Hi, so I had to send my Lumia 710 in for repairs (loose battery cover. Not related to OSBL or anything) so I don't have it in front of me to verify all these steps again, but here's what I did.
Note: First of all, I should mention that on Windows, I never saw "DLOAD" anywhere in Device Manager. I only saw it say "Nokia USB Connectivity"
The only reason I was sure it was "DLOAD" was because I plugged it into my Macbook Air and tried going into OSBL with the Vol Up + Power key, and I saw on my Mac that it said "DLOAD"
1) So I knew I had the DLOAD bootloader, and I wanted the Qualcomm one, so this is what I did. I first set up my Windows PC with NSS and Nokia Care Suite. For this, I followed this guide (Steps 1-12).
2) So now I was ready to do the actual bootloader flash. The problem I thought I was having was that the phone would not stay in the OSBL mode. To solve this problem, first follow steps 13-14 on the guide I linked to earlier. This way you will have NSS open and be ready to click the "Install" button immediately.
3) So now this is the part where you get into OSBL. Just turn off the phone, then hold the volume button and put in the USB cable. After you feel a vibration, let go of the volume button and hit "Install" in NSS immediately after. (This is Step 16 in the guide)
Normally after the button combo is pressed, the phone would have a black screen for a few seconds (5-10 maybe, I don't remember exactly how long). If you let go of the volume button exactly after you feel the first vibration, then press the "install" button within the NSS software immediately, you can install the bootloader before the phone reboots itself. After the bootloader is done installing, the phone won't reboot like it was before, you'll have to pull out the battery and put it back in. Just be 100% sure that it's done installing the bootloader before you pull the battery.
Now that the bootloader is installed, you can follow the rest of that guide if you want to SIM Unlock or flash another ROM. Just remember that now you have the Qualcomm bootloader, so press "cancel" when the Windows Format box pops up.
Also, after I went into OSBL with the Qualcomm bootloader, the computer had trouble installing drivers for it. I just followed the instructions here and it worked perfectly. I followed the rest of the guide to SIM Unlock and install RainbowMod as well.
Good luck, and happy flashing!
I think removing the battery before entering OSBL mode stops the auto reboot
I seem to have the same problem with my phone, yet when I click install instantly after the short vibration, I get this come up:
Init connection...Already in the correct mode.
Enter bootloader mode...Done
Boot version: 240.116.132.78
Sending certificate...Done.
Sending file...Failed(err: 0x40002).
Any ideas as to what it means/how to fix it?
Thanks
I get that same thing. Ive tried on both Windows 8 x64, and 7 x86, I cant seem to downgrade to the qualcomm bootloader. Ive even tried usig NCS and the russian rom, and it installs fine, but I still have Nokia DLOAD... Anybody have any ideas?
EDIT: It actually says this:
Init connection...Already in the correct mode.
Enter bootloader mode...Done
Boot version: 240.116.132.78
Sending certificate...Failed.
Actually, I probably shouldn't jack this thread, Ill start a new one
