Hi guys,
I got alot of dust (or maybe something else, like fungus) under my camera lens. It's getting worse and worse. At first I didn't see a big difference, but now it's this bad:

As you can see, it has black dots on the screen and it's very 'foggy'.
What do you guys suggest? Send it back to the store and get it fixed? Will this be in my warranty?
Thanks.

Hello.
I just made myself an account after having received tons of help from this site without ever posting already, so please bear with me if I make any mistakes!
I've read and understood the forum rules, and I have also watched the video.
Is there any solution other than taking the phone to a professional? I have the exact same problem, although there are not as many gray spots, and I can also confirm that it is most definitely dust, seeing as the dark spots are constantly moving, appearing and disappearing.
Thanks in advance!
I recently received my i9100 back from vodafone after my phone developed the same problem - dust inside the camera lens.
I did have to reset my phone to stock and remove any evidence of using custom ROMs, but the fault was covered by the 2 yr warranty. I handed it to vodafone on a saturday and had my repaired phone back within a week. Thankfully I'd made a complete backup image using the clockworkmod app before i sent the phone away, so it didn't take long to have the phone back exactly as it was before. VillainRom all the way.
if its not on the lens [after you confirm it] why not to open the back cover of the device, clean the lens and put it back?
btw - how dust got into the device anyway??

THis seems to be OS problem.I also experienced same problem in my old N82.After reflashing the dot disapeared.
dust returns
Several months after having my phone repaired the dust is getting back into the lens agin. Its not visible on the photos yet, but I'm sure it will only get worse. Bugger.
There are two problems on the posted photos: a pink spot, and some dark spots. I assume we are not talking about the pink spot, as it is is a known problem with cameras on several phones...
As regards to the dark spots, the design of the lens cover should prevent any dust from getting in front of the lens - there is a thin foam gasket around the window on the back of the cover, and the camera module is supposed to be pressing firmly against it when the cover is properly installed, sealing off the dust. In case of dust problems like this I would guess something is wrong either with the cover itself (possibly a missing or damaged gasket), or with the way it's assembled. The camera module itself may also be seated the wrong way somehow.
If your phone is taken care of by a service technician, you can't do much about it, other than ask them to pay an extra attention to this gasket (and we all know how professionals usually react to customers telling them what to do, even though, frankly, a customer may be more qualified for the job sometimes). But if you are willing to open up your phone yourself, it should be fairly easy to spot a problem, because the camera module leaves a very clear impression on the gasket...
5$ and do it by yourself [after you cleaning the inside lens[

Dust seems a real problem with the SGS2 camera ...
I also have some dust ... Hoped to find a nice tutorial on how to remove it by oursleves ... sadly I did not find anything
I've been facing similar issue simce the past 11 months and warranty has already expired. There's one black spot on the right side of my camera images. I'm trying to live with it. Searched the entire Internet, couldn't find any tutorial to open and clean the camera unit. And without any tut I'm not going to open up my device as I'm scared as ****.

What you need is not a tutorial for cleaning the camera, but general disassembly instructions. You can definitely find them, either separate, or as part of the S2 service manual. I've got it, but don't have it handy right now, sorry... You don't need to rip your phone apart, just to remove the backplate. It is very easy, nothing to be scared about. Check my earlier msg just a few posts back, make sure you have a good gasket around the lens piece -- if it's damaged or misaligned, the dust WILL get inside.
I just started having this problem a few weeks ago. One little spec of dust had gotten into the lens of mine. I'm thinking about unscrewing the back of and cleaning it with a glass cloth rather than taking it back to my carrier to get it serviced.
Hey guys, i also was facing the problem with dust on the lense and the covering glass having a lot of tiny scratches. Couldn't take a sharp photo anymore, focussing took ages, so camera was kinda useless at all.
I bought a middle chassis at amazon, costs about 12 €. Today i changed the middle chassis and cleaned the camera lense.
Changing the chassis and cleaning took about 20 minutes, doing everything very carefully and using this tutorial:

So, just wanted to share the results!
See attachments for before and after.

Wow! How is your lens so fogged up??
I got mine replaced a few months back (warranty) and there was only a small dust spec.

...it's not even two weeks old and already I've dinged the nice chrome that surrounds the Touch Pro (the Chrome is scratched off and the black underneath now shows.) Anyone know a quick way to cosmetically fix this?
Take it to sprint and get a replacement...
No seriously...
As long as you didnt cause the ding by dropping the phone and it just chipped off there is a known issue with the chrome on the touch pro.
I'm pretty sure (correct me if i am wrong) that the solution is just in-store replacements.

Same suggestion here. As long as the phone does not appear to have suffered a fall, then Sprint will replace it for you.
its all good bro i already dropped mine.
i got a tiny tiny mark on the top left side of the device
no else can see it..but i sure as hell can..
i got another 20+ days tho..if anything ill get a replacement..ill give At&t some bs about my phone not working correctly or whatever lol
Even if you tell them you dropped it, they will still replace it. I thought it was a joke but it is true.
UPDATE
OK, I know what's causing the chrome to chip off. In my original post I didn't explain where the flaking off was happening. It's on the front face, on the right edge. Now, originally I though it was because it dropped a few feet (inside my car, from the center console to the floor), but after looking at it closer I think what's causing the damage is my friggin' case!!! I bought this Body Glove case (http://www.bodyglove.com/products_detail.php?product_id=24491), and after closer inspection, the stitching right where it aligns with the damage on the phone sticks up. I can't explain it properly but basically if I run my finger on that area, I can feel it rubbing against my finger. I'm fairly sure this is what's causing the damage.
Now what's troubling is that when I run my finger over it, it doesn't feel "scratchy" enough on my finger to be doing this damage (basically, I can rub my finger over it over and over again and my finger is fine). So is the quality of the plastic chrome really that bad that it can be damaged by something that won't even cause any type of skin abrasion on my finger if I rub it over and over again?
The damage has grown since my original post. I'm going to sprint and will try to exchange. In the mean time, stay away from that Body Glove case!
sprint will take that back.

well your luck is not as bad as mine. i got my tp on monday and on tuesday i had my phone in my stock htc case. opened the car door and went to grab my phone out of the door pocket and whoops case w/ phone in it hit the asphault before i could catch it. one day in and it chipped the top left corner of the chrome and i can see the black beneath.
i have tep on my sprint plan and went to one store and was shot down asking if i could replace it because they said i dropped it and was my fault and then they said plus u have to wait for 30 days and u will have to call assurion and pay $50 for a refurbished touch pro. bs.
should i try another store? what should i say

My TP had a ding on the upper left corner. I went to a store and told them it's been locking up from day one and got a new one.
update
I went to my local Sprint store and they said they would exchange it for a new one but, of course, they didn't have any in stock nor did any of the other nearby stores. They're supposed to have a UPS shipment of them today and supposed to give me a call. Here's hoping they do.
I looked at the original case that came with the TP and the inside is all smooth, no seams or stitches. I was using this case before I bought that
Body Glove case and looking back on it, the chrome damage did not happen until after I started using that Body Glove case.
So my advice for everyone, if you're not using an Invisible Shield that protects the chrome and you're putting your TP in a case, make sure there's no stitching inside the case where the phone will be sliding in and out. If you do have a case that has stitching on the inside, at the very least make sure all the stitching is smooth to the touch of your finger (including the flap area, basically any area that will be coming into contact with your TP.) Again, the stitching that was sticking out on the inside of the body glove case didn't seem like a big deal when I ran my finger over it but apparently it was enough to scratch and eventually rub off the chrome as I was sliding my TP in and out of the case.
i got a small scratch after 4 days... its on the verry bottom of the screen. im wondering if i can just polish it off. i dont know why they use such easy to scratch material... im really concirend with the cover of the camera and expecily sence its on the bottom and is alwes tuching when you set it down it will be all scratched up in no time...
Hello buddies!
I was replacing my LCD screen that was dropped in th toaillet and apparently everything went fine. There was only one problem in the opening, I screwed with something I don`t know what was for (you'll see the image later). When I turned the phone on I get really happy for my screen was shinning again but the digitizer stoped working. Sometimes it works randomly, can't explain what happens, but try to realize that: the unlock screen sometimes works, but I press the upper of the phone, and its rare to work. I want you all to take a look and try to help me looking at this flat connector.. why is it for? Its related with the digitizer? I think its not, but I wanna know whats this since I screwed with it. Sorry for disturbing and thanks for help! Here is the picture:

look at the post on ifixit:http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola-Atrix-4G-Teardown/4964/1 it seems like you should follow that and see if you can find what's wrong
I was following this article and a video on youtube.
As you see on image, i just bricked some flat cable below the front cam, but this cable is connected to digitizer... Eveything is working fine, just the digitizer is broken. I'm just asking if someone knows that the function of THIS part of flat connector, because eveything else is working, so i think the error of digitizer is not this.
if you look this image: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/JhXk4VIeX3CahwaY.medium you can see the yellow/brown part on metalic part, and if you see my image, you can see thats broken.
That part that looks broke in your pic may be the problem. Under where the black piece above it is where the digitizer is connected.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Yes, but if you take a look to left, by passing the fingerprint scanner, you can see that it's connected by a flat cable to motherboard... so i *think* the problem isn't here...
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that is probably the ground for something. Looks pretty similar to some of the copiers I used to work on.

Its look like the orange thing on bottom right of image. If it's a ground, i have bricked my digitizer? I think the problem is on the front panel, on top that have some flat connectors...
There is any way to fix these ground?
Obviously you've damaged the flex cable, but it's responsible for other components and not the touchscreen input.
You can get a replacement on ebay for $20 .
But I suggest replacing the digitizer first, then if there are still problems - you'll know it's the flex cable you need to replace.
The touchscreen was working before the lcd replacement, maybe i didn't connected anything well? Where it is connected? I have just screwed the ground connector that i have show to you on the photo, everything else is like before.
Also, i have take some pic of front panel and digitizer, maybe it can help someone identifies the problem.

Thanks.
You need a new digitizer. The ribbon cable and the glass aren't supposed to come apart. Looks like you pulled the glass off the front without removing the internal components first as well. Follow the take apart on the iFixit site.
Ok, thank you so... i bought the ditizier on ebay already, waiting it...
Some videos say to remove the digitizer by the front, others say to remove it by back, removing ALL components, what can leave me to brick something else, what to do?
The ground that i bricked is for headphones? its 30$ and the shipping is other 30$
To replace the digitizer you have to open the back of the device to remove almost all components. Follow the guide posted on the first page.
Also, did you try to restore PDS backup? Maybe it's not the digitizer after all...
Follow this guide (use your backed up PDS file, if you've made one).

as for the flex cable you've damaged, it's $20 shipped on ebay.

Thank you,
My atrix have died, just wont turn on... no screen, no led, everything... just strange because i didnt modified anything.... maybe this ground cable made my cellphone die?
Just making me angry about atrix, it's so failing on everything, no hardware protection, just one accident and it's a big paper... thinking of buy an SG2... i'm for 6 weeks trying to fix it.
You mad at the atrix, your inability to fix it or do you think you should stop playing angry birds while you take your bread out the oven?
I voided my warranty.
I'm studying computer engineering, so i have basic understatement of fixing things... so or it's impossible to repair it without do anything that affect it, or i'm very dumb, what i do consider.... j/k
Seriosly, i didnt touch anything and it just died, so it's not my fault... must be something on it... i spend 800$ on it (Brazil), 120$ to lcd replacement, 35$ on digitizer, 30$ on tools, this cellphone is getting very expensive... just because of this my angry... i really doesn't want to leave atrix and go for GS2, i really like the fingerprint scanner, and the design of phone... and with bl unlocked... you know.
Im pretty sure the SG2 would malfunction if you dropped it in the toilet as well.
You know i watched some youtube videos last night. It seems phones can take some water. Almost. The videos showed phones in toilets and being submerged and still working for a bit. After watching those i think its feasible alot of phones can be saved with the usual tactics we hear. Like turning off right away, pulling battery immediately after that and then using preferred method to dry phone completely. Some phones dont make it or malfunction months later. I think op should use this as a lesson now and in the future. No more checking mail while checking the ceramic, or at least wear a wrist strap and if it happens again dry it immediately and turn on days later.
I voided my warranty.

My Xperia P is 7 months old and does not have any warranty...
Recently i noticed that something is leaking from illumination bar , but my phone was never in contact with water, so there is not a single chance that water has entered , the leakage is not giving any problem to keys , the keys are working fine but the leakage is growing I guess :crying:
could this lead to any big issue???

Are you sure it is a leak? Is it static or does it move? Because if it doesn't change as you move the phone, it may not be a leak.
If you look closely, you'll see that the illumination bar is not a solid part, its a top piece glued to a low piece. It might not have been properly glued, and with time it becomes worse.
If it is not any liquid in there, and it doesn't mess with the soft keys, i don't suggest to try and fix it yourself, cause it might get even worse. Just try to look past it, like a dead pixel or so
I don't think it will lead you to any major problem. The worse that could happen is that if it gets a lot further unglued the lower part of the illumination bar can become a bit wobbly
Can't post any pictures as my main camera is crap :L.
On my Xperia U, it did that on both sides the 2nd day I had it. It's not water, and it won't get any worse. The glue seems like a plausible idea. When I hard bricked it for the third time, I sent it off for repair. My guess is it sat in a Warehouse for a week, as it took ages to come back. Anyway, when I was finally reunited with it after a month or so, it had gone. Like invisible to the eye. I was so surprised I thought they had replaced more then the chip this time. They said they didn't, so I was just great full they swapped the LED bar. After 30 mins of this rooting, flashing and doing a Nandroid, it had come back. So it seems that it was the heat.
My advice if you can't stand it is to keep it cold WHENEVER you aren't using it.
But that's just me...

If it is static, i bet that it is a glue problem. And the heat, like Strike_Riku mentioned, might be a plausible explanation.
I love my Xperia P, even more than my girlfriend's iPhone 4S, but i've got to say, this is the kind of thing that makes the difference and gives value to the extra cash you pay for an Apple product. Poor manufacture is one of the cons of this phone. I'm not having this exact problem, but still it is of some concern. My bottom cap after just 2 weeks of use has started to move, instead of being firmly attached to the body of the phone. And i guess that it will get worse.
This is just the kind of thing that you'll have to get used to.
Without warranty, there is not much you can do without some risk to your soft keys.
But if you do want to slightly risk it, you could try to heat to that area with a hot air blower or a hair dryer, in hope of solving it by the glue melting again and pressing the two halves of the bar, getting it properly glued.
Or it could do the exact opposite, and make it worse
How can you not have warranty? Everyone gets warranty from Sony for 1 year it's the manufacturer warranty, but I have similar thing you described here, isn't that big a deal, doubt they'll do anything for you

To send your phone off for this small issue, hmm i wouldn't want two weeks without it
Bro, I too poste a thread for it yesterday.
I too have the Same Xperia P Silver and the same Plastic Cover
I am having the same issue u are having, But the Glue leak is more of center in my Case. The Glue leak Has covered my Center Home button, I wish i could post images but Forum wont Allow till i reach the 10 posts Mark!
I am having warranty and havent unlocked my fone yet and i can give it to the service center!
Would the fone be replaced or the Illumination bar itself?
And It can take max a month too, to get it replaced. I am confused whether to give it or not, the Glue leak is gradually increasing!
My Xperia P also have the exact same issue. When i press the bar from both sides it will go away , but after some time it comes back. I think the glue between the bar is going off. I also dont have the warranty.

if u are having warranty then u should go to service centre , and i think they will change the illumination bar not the phone
I am also having the same problem. But giving it to service centre is not a useful decision.
First , they will consider it as a design, not a flaw
Second, even if they change the strip , then the problem will arise again.
my past experience with service centre is not good. they will surely give more scratches to your phone, than you currently have
you can buy spare strip from here :

as there is no clarification from Sony.. the defective will count as user fault

So no one else has a crack and you have two....sure you aren't being too rough on the device?

This is sad really...
Why is it the people doing the complaining have just one post to their name. This started like 3 weeks back. Only one post. You'd think they'd be a bit more worked up right. You read the craziest things on the sony forum.
Have noticed a similar trend on product review sites, for 5 star as well as one star reviews. Just one post and post date is the same as join date and these people are never to be heard from again.
Why does glass break ? either stress or a temperature differential.
Don't cool an overheated phone under the tap. It might 'self crack'.
The most possible reason is overheat.
The water proof phones like z, z1 come with strong adhesive, which expands and then break the glass.
You have to send it for repair or DIY repair.
An original glass can keep the phone waterproof. So you should be careful when select the replacement part for repair.
You can get origianl Sony Xperia phones replacement parts at wirigs.com.
Photoshopped. I can tell by the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
Don't think I've known a set of owners to be so protective over the opinion of their device.
Do you think that there is a conspiracy going on?
Is a fact that most people only turn to the Internet when they have an issue with their phone, so only having one post would be normal.
Mine has a cracked back too.... And I'm not a new poster

could you upload some pic please..
it's definitely an overheat problem so please guys stop covering up for Sony, if this doesn't happen to you now it could be affected by it later
my advice do not shoot lots of 4K video as it happen to be the most process that rise the temp. very high, till Sony resolve the issue stay away of any hot environment
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/05/3...peria-z1-cracking-screen-issue-sony-responds/
However, Sony released the following statement to Watchdog, highlighting for the first time that there is an issue:
“In a small proportion of cases, screens have indeed cracked with no identifiable cause and in these instances the phone has been repaired for free.”
sight.. Finally, and there are still people who says that's a Photoshop or an impossible to happen without any force
anyone from UK guys.. can you confirm the statement from Sony?
The statement was made on watchdog, now that they have made the statement on such an open outlet, I imagine any returns on cracked screen with zero frame damage will get a repair under warranty. Whether cover is for a single crack or multiple fractures remains to be seen

Took my Z2 back to CPW today after it got a small crack near the camera after i have been using satnav for an hour. Service centre said sony know about the issue and if you cant feel the crack then it will be heat related. I noticed when i took my phone of the dash the gap between the glass and bezel had grown. I think when it strunk down something might of got stuck in the gap and caused the crack.

Mine went back to ee's service centre... They say it's accidental damage. Had to pay £40 to be repaired.
Selling it so had to have it done officially rather than doing it myself.

Just got my phone back today rear glass replaced free of charge.
Hi guys,
Long story short, took my phone to the pool, took the kids some pics and underwater video and the phone started to reboot... At first i thought it was by mistake, the 2nd time i started to look into it and saw the "can't read sim card" message. That was the sign that told me my baby have had issues. The screen got water, the cameras got foggy. I was able to shake some of the water out it through the ports.
I can't tell if it was a dirty flap or a fall it took 2 days ago and it hit the top right corner. Anyway, the phone is working now. However, the screen has water and it looks like blemishes.
Should i be worried or do something about it? Please see the pics, the screen looks awful [emoji20] [emoji17]

I'm sorry to say that these patches cannot be removed, I had several phone with water damage, and the screen always remains that what whatever I do to it .
Again, a warning for everyone, the whole Z series isn't water resistant, it might survive a very few seconds underwater, but not enough to take pictures and have fun with it. Better not put it in water at all, a water splatch accident is manageable and wouldn't inflict damage to the phone

Turn it off and put it in a bag of raw rice for atleast a couple of days.. Open all your flaps and then put it.. Don't turn it on until u r sure atleast most of that water is gone..
Thanks. Lesson learned.
It seems this it for my Z2. I did the pictures before, what i did different was to leave it in my side poket for about 30 seconds. It probably was 2 feet deep. They say 3 feet should be fine. Also the flaps get dirty from time to time, and it doesn't close well enough. I'd probably be back when there is no flap. The Z4 seems to be going in the right direction.

Had similar experience taking pictures and videos under water and after about an hour or two it was still fine. I only started seeing tiny dew on the main camera when the phone starts to heat.
The next day I have to open the back and clean the dew. It was just some three tiny dots but directly in front of the camera lens so taking a picture is blurry.
After cleaning it, covered it back and it's normal as before.
As for your own, water probably entered the front panel and that could affect the screen permanently and would probably need replacing the screen if you want it the way it was.
But I think you should let a good phone service person open it and see, it could be that the water is between the digitizer and the LCD. In that case could be cleaned.
