So I just spent about the last hour trying to get funds to add to my prepaid Google card and found some quirks that may help others avoid some frustration.
EDIT: THIS INFORMATION MAY BE WRONG!!! It's been mentioned that once the Google Wallet sees the tampered bootloader, we may have problems using Google Wallet.
I also went ahead and already rooted my phone today so that might have been the reason for the problems.
1. There was an update for Google Wallet pending. Before I did that, I couldn't even get my Google prepaid card to activate(and give me $10 bucks)
2. It appears as if you have root on your phone, you will need to grant root permissions to Google Wallet.
3. "Unfortunately Google Wallet Has Stopped Working" - I got this message a lot. I think it may be another issue with root. In order to get around it, I put in all of my card information and then made sure to UNCHECK "Remember this card for future top ups" My thought process behind this is maybe Google wants to make sure that your card information doesn't get stored on a phone that has root access(where the information can be accessed later)
Other thoughts:
I used a Mastercard debit card for my adding of funds even though they say debit cards won't work. I think as long as your debit card can be ran as credit, it will work fine for Google Wallet

it took forever when i did it, maybe a full 60-90 seconds IIRC
Does getting the unsupported device message mean it will work if it has root? When I grant root it still says my device is supported.

I rooted and then set up Wallet. IT asked for root permissions, I denied it. Everything worked fine after that. Admittedly I haven't tried actually using it to pay for something...
It's odd that my app appears to still be working even though I have given it root. Now to try and actually use it today.
So, I rooted using the method on the development page, opened google wallet, it asked for SU permission, I gave it. I was then able to create the prepaid card, it seems to be working now.
The app seems to be working whether you allow or deny SU permissions. Have not been able to test a purchase yet.
Something else to note... When I cleared SU permissions, Wallet cache and data to try it again by denying SU permissions my credit card info was not saved to the cloud and needed to be re-entered. However Citi bank apparently is having issues right now allowing a card to be authorized multiple times and it gets denied. Have been told a fix is being worked on to allow Wallet to be removed from the Citi account and should be ready by Tuesday.
unsupported device ?
Everything seemed to be working fine . Setup account got $10 credit now says unsupported device click to learn more and pretty much says because I gained root access its unsupported . I tried using voodoo ota app to temp unroot and still says same . Any solutions to fix other than running ruu to unroot ? Has anyone tried using to purchase something with the unsupported device and if so what were your results ?
Thanks
Edit : Just tried it out and works
I denied su and everything seems to be working fine for me. Like previously stated it did take about 45 to 60 seconds for the add but it went through fine.

So even though it says "Unsupported device" it still lets you buy stuff? Can you still add funds/cards as well?

I can't get sh*t to work, when I try to add a Google Card i get an error, I don't have a citi card so I cant add that.
For me this doesn't work, am I missing something?
I set up google wallet the day I got the phone, then I rooted it the following day. Tried using the prepaid $10 card at the gas station yesterday, and all I had to do was deny root access when it asked, and the transaction went through.
I haven't tried to add funds and I don't have citi bank so can't comment on that . I didn't set up my account till after root and I denied su . I got my $10 credit and IIRC it didn't say unsupported device till after I got the credit . Posted question right after then I went to 7-11 and used with no problem. It even said unsupported device when wallet opened for purchase. Tried yesterday at MC Donald and it didn't work but it didn't even read the nfc thinking it is because if the new otterbox defender series case though and I didn't want to pull phone out of case. I'll try to add funds and also use again and post my findings.
So does the wallet app need to be opened in order to use it?
I know it says that you just have to wake the device, but everytime I've tried it that way = no good. I'll have to find someplace when it's not busy so I can play around with it, hating trying when got multiple people in line behind me.

u just need ur screen on, no need to load the app
I've had some trouble topping up the pre-paid card. When I enter my CC info the wallet app will force close when I submit the info. However if I uncheck the box that saves the CC info the transaction will go through. It's not a game breaker but it sure is annoying.

So I rooted my phone today to get wifi working, and then decided to try wallet again and it works fine. I allowed it to get root as well, didn't realize when it asked so ...
I now have 10 in credit, will try the payment tomorrow.
Crazy..
Also does wallet just stay running all the time in the tray? Does that affect bat life at all?

I've been pulling the free app of the day from the Amazon AppStore ever since it debuted. However, I noticed two days ago that it suddenly said I needed to enable one-click, and when I followed the link it prompts me to enter my mobile #. Since I'm on the Nook, I don't have one, and I don't have an Android phone. Anyone know how to work around this?
You should be able to use any cell phone to activate the one click.

That's what I would've thought as well, but even after trying that it still tells me I need to activate 1-click specifically for the Nook as a mobile device, and the help for that screen says that the phone number I enter is associated with the mobile device from which I'm trying to access Amazon services.
EDIT: Never mind...(semi-)user error. Somehow my payment method had been disassociated from my one-click.
Why not use your google voice number?
Thats what I did.
You don't need to use any phone number, I just put my credit card info for one clic which was already saved. Just scroll a bit down.
So since yesterday I haven't been able to buy anything from the market. I have tried everything to include removing my google account from my TP and reinputting it. I also tried both the website and from the device. I always get a wierd error. Then in google wallet it shows this:
Polarbit is responsible for charging and shipping your order. Have questions? Contact XXXX.
Jan 6
You placed an order with XXXXX on Jan 6. Google Checkout sent a copy of this receipt to [email protected]
It just sits there. The transactions are also showing on my CC. I have tried three CCs... so I think something is jacked with my wallet account. Does anyone know a fix?
I have the same problem. Carrier billing and billing to a CC are failing, and I'm unable to purchase any applications. I've got five apps that are stuck, and the charges for the ones I tried to bill to a CC are showing on my card. T-Mobile is no help, they've basically told me that it's not their problem. Have you been able to figure out a solution? This is driving me nuts!

I was able to get this resolved by calling Google direct, it turns out that Google has a customer support number for the android market now.
http://support.google.com/androidmarket/bin/request.py?hl=en
I called them and they "escalated it to a specialist," I figured that they were just giving me the brush off, but lo and behold, a couple hours later, the downloads all started.
Ok. Yesterday, I rooted my HTC EVO 4G LTE using regawMOD. I paid special attention to follow the directions. Especially the one telling me to reset Google Wallet. And the operation was a success, after the second try.
I first noticed the problem when I tried to purchase a paid app on Play. I started getting error messges to sign in to Google Wallet. When I opened it it had a yellow message saying that my EVO was an unsupported device. Still I logged in. At first the payment went through, and email confirmed that. While waiting for the download to start, I got another email saying the order had been cancelled, followed by an error notice that the download was declined.
I'm wondering if anybody else is having this problem? And, if so, if they have found a workaround, short of downloading/flashing .apk's from the web?
p.s. I haven't had a problem downloading free apps, yet.
We have like 100 threads on this topic already. Google Wallet isn't working. I think you might have to used your actual credit card.
And there in lies the problem. Wallet/Play Store won't allow me to download any paid apps, regardless of the payment method. And it's not just on my LTEVO. Getting the same problem on my OG EVO.
They just put out a update for Google wallet... Not sure I should upgraded best bg rooted... Will it break anything?

After updating, I had the same problem. So, I went into Titanium and uninstalled Wallet. Now,the Play Store seems to be working fine.
So finally Verizon has opened Goggle Wallet on the S4. After the last update of Google Wallet on the Play Store, i just checked Google Wallet on the S4 and it worked. All the features are available to link your bank account or debit card and credit cards. Also special promotion deals and a lot more things then Verizon's own ISIS.
Check out on your Verizon S4 and update.
I will try to post some screen shots soon.
This happened last week. Note, Verizon didn't do anything, Google just disabled Tap to Pay (Using NFC).

I noticed that it installed & ran, but I've heard from many that it doesn't work for NFC transactions at stores (just person to person). I'm not talking about the people who just say "doesn't ever work!!". It's hit or miss at some stores, as I've used it before on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I think it says "not supported" when you go to pay at an NFC supported terminal. Try it out & let us know...
It should let you add credit/debit cards now as you can pay person to person I mentioned above.
Sucks if TTP is not working
So what good is a Wallet when I cannot do tap to pay via NFC ... it would have been better if the would have kept the application locked as before...
Can you confirm the source of this that Tap to Pay is not working or have you tried it yourself.

It's grayed out on the wallet setup so you can't use it.

You can confirm it yourself: Load Wallet, Menu, Settings, About, Tap and Pay says "Not available".
There's a modded APK that loserskater hacked up to ignore the device specific checks.
I threw it into a CWM/TWRP flashable zip and posted it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45833601
If you don't have a custom recovery, you'll just need to move the APK and adjust permissions manually (the link to the original APK is in the instructions in the OP of that thread also).

I am on a custom rom (N5 on CM12.1) and rooted so android pay will not work for me. Now I am not too upset about not being able to pay with it, but it is kinda dumb that I can't even get access to my loyalty and gift cards without adding a credit card. So I uninstalled android pay, installed v8 of google wallet. I then unlinked to market using Titatinium backup, but the next day I see not only is it reconnected to market, but is due for update. I disconnected it from market again, and verified that it didn't show up as needing an update, but the next day I see that android pay has been updated.
So my real question is there no way to access loyalty cards without adding credit card? If not I am guessing that google play services is taking control of things and is automatically updating google wallet whether it is linked to market or not, so what can I do to stop it updating itself?
Thanks.
