So I have been trying a bunch of different roms for the RAZR today and I was having problems with the keyboard not working. I decided to try to load CM9, so I read I need to use "safestrap" and not "bootstrap" that I had been using. I downloaded it, installed then tried to boot into recovery and load CM9.
Now the safestrap boot screen appears and says "safe system disabled" "hit search to continue / hit the menu button to boot into recovery" if I hit the menu button it just reboots, if I hit search the screen just goes blank and I have to do a reset to get it to start the process again.
I have RSD but I have never used it before. I have my phone plugged into my computer but my computer doesnt see it.
Help!

Whats your razr. Its verizon? If not you should use bootstrap.
Safestrap is for verizon razr. But some uses bootstrap on it.
You have to put ur razr in ap fastboot mode: power+vol up+vol down in order to flash with rsd lite
Choose a stock rom to your razr and flash it. Make sure flash correct rom

Uninstall all motorola software, reinstall motocast 1.29 or newer then connect ur razr.
Use rsd lite 5.7 and make sure you got correct sbf file
You may have corrupted drivers.

Do I need to install anything else other than those 2 things? It still doesnt work.
Would having Samsung drivers effect anything? I have a Galaxy Nexus too.

Sometimes it brokes motorola drivers. Doing what I said should work.
Edit:
BTW what's the version you were and what's the version you're trying to flash?
Some versions cannot downgrade when the one you're trying to flash have a lower security.
I was running Gummy when everything went wrong. Loading safestrap is when I started having the current problems.
I uninstalled the Samsung drivers, and loaded both RSDLite 5.7 and the Moto driver you suggested and RSD will not see my phone in AP Fastboot, but it will when in BP SDF flash. Very confusing.
I will load the latest version of GB when I can get my computer to see my phone in AP Fastboot.
Now my computer is trying to install the flash MZ600 driver and error's out. I googled MZ600 and it says its a Xoom driver???

Yup. You've a driver problem, better unistall others devices you may have.
Or, do it in other pc, like a notebook.
So I finally got the drivers working and now RSD see's my phone when in AP Fastboot, but I get an error when flashing the file. This is the error I get.
"Failed flashing process. 22/23 flash "radio.img" -> Phone returned FAIL."
It was flashing for about 5 minutes before I got this error.
Edit: I'm using the file from this thread.

thanks bro, i thinks that's the best way to update till 4.1.83,
here a little experience i have done
first time i try flash sbf 4.1.83 failed with that error booting,
and pull battery and back again to turn off the phone, and i flash the 1.26
then success with sim card inside,
iam not happy with failing on flash 4.1.83, then i thought the 4.1.83 sbf file is corrupt then i redownload again , after finish download,
i do the second time flashing with new 4.1.83 sbf
this second time is so frustrated, couz it fail again with same error.
until i have success full recover my atrix i do over 10 time flashing
and changing between computer and my notebook
and changing from windows 7 and windows XP
flashing random sbf from 1.83 and 1.26
the lasting i lost my hope , then suddenly the flash was success, WTF ,
lasting i remember is i pull the battery and pull out the sim card , then put back the battery, and do the flash,
the last time i flash 1.26 sbf
i thing
there is something no right with driver or RSD Lite not sync or missing something
until now iam still don't know how to solve it ,
pls anyone can find out what the problem and how to solve it
After about 4-5 hours and 7-8 tries using sfb method to upgrade to 1.83, I finally have a working phone again.
As to how I got stuck on the:
boot fail 4
starting RSD
and in RSD Lite, the phone's device name showing up as "SE Flash Olympus"
I decided to do a few things.
1. Go download the newest USB drivers. the 2.00.52 is what you should be on. If you can't find them, go to Motorola website and get MotoHelper 5.0 or whatever..install and then update your drivers. Restart your pc and keep trying to update your drivers until you get to USB 2.00.52 drivers.
2. USE THE ORIGINAL DATA CABLE THAT CAME WITH THE PHONE.
3. Make sure the connections are not loose at all (could've been why mine was messing up)
4. If you already have motohelper installed...go to the 'driverinstaller.exe' change operation mode to clean and reinstall, make sure the phone is unplugged. and click on start. (note, this part will be anywhere from 2 - 5 minutes depending on speed of your computer)
5. Restart RSD Lite, make sure you're using the latest one, and 'Run as administrator'.
**Go to config>Flash/Flex options... > only "check" Restart after Flexing..**
6. Now, I learned this the hard way...and many forums have it up there... GET YOUR BATTERY TO ABOVE 80% or IT WILL FAIL. (I had to go to a friend's at midnight to charge my battery from his atrix...hahaha)
7. Now turn your phone on again and it'll go to the "failed to boot 4 starting RSD" ...
8. Next, plug it in to your USB cable and click "Show Device" and then click once under the "USB 1 line" to view the device information at the top left. (Everything should be N/A except for your bootloader and you will also read "NS Flash Olympus now, instead of the SE Flash Olympus)
9. Put that '1.83_pudding.sfb' file in the "C:\ " directory to avoid any further complications.
10. Select the "...." browse to the '1.83_pudding.sfb' file and click start. It should work.... Now if it doesn't work... try and try again...
What I did was switched back and forth from 1.23 to 1.83... when I got mine to work, the device was registering as "SE Flash Olympus".
And for the longest time under bootloader, it would register as N/A...I finally decided to switch cables and it worked... once again, make sure to follow these:
* Full battery/80% above
* Stock Atrix USB cable
* 2.00.52 USB drivers
* RSD Lite 5.3.1
EDIT: GOOD LUCK! PM me if you need more assistance as those forward to XDA app

People 51_OLL iron-4.5.2A-lite 5.6 rsd 49_SIGNED_STABLE45LAOLYMPGBPERAR_P011_A026_M001_HWpd_Service1FF with ... and my error:
"Failde to boot 4"
rsd starting mode
I am reading is the battery problem that has to be for 80 %+...
If I turn on the power but the volume key + I fastboot protocol enters
If it lights only the error:
"Failde to boot 4" starting mode rsd
I can do twice the iron sbf with 2.3.6 official stock continues to give me the same error.
Lei may be because the battery is not 100% so fails.
How do I charge if the wall charger no load and light me alone with the legend:
"Failde to boot 4" rsd starting mode.
It can be for this, because this is not a 100% Bateias??
Another query may be that by command fastboot mode can be fixed??
PC will not identify phone in RSD or fastboot. I have tried all drivers I can find, have uninstalled and reinstalled all software, the drivers install in each mode but RSDlite or the official moto software updater will not ID the phone when connected...
I have tried 64 and 32 windows and 3 different cables just to be sure....
Anyone have an idea what to do? I have locked an unlocked this thing once before the 4.5.91 update and again after. I used the official Motorola Software Updater to "update" back to locked stock and have had this issue ever since then....
Fixed: Belkin USB print and storage drivers had to be removed.

anyone??????????????
Simple question, do you have debugging turned on? I was having a similar problem, when i realized it was off I totally face palmed myself
Yesy I have tried everything I can think of... the issue is before booting into android not after... something is blocking my phone from getting picked up by RSDlite and the moto update tool... everything in android functions fine, i have turned USB debug on and off both.
I was able to root through fastboot with no issues so it is ok, but I will be d*&$^d if I can get rsd running so I can unlock... it's not like this is new to me I have unlocked this thing twice before...

Nope. I am definately locked again. I flashed the official motorola GB software update over my existing GB software to attempt to revert to locked and stock again. It worked but now I am unable to unlock. RSDlite AND the same Moto update do not see my phone in RSD mode.

Actually, once a bootloader is unlocked, its unlocked for good. By reflashing to stock, all that you did was copy over pudding (the SBF file that you flashed when you unlocked the bootloader). This hides the "Unlocked" text in the top corner. To reshow this text and regain access to locked fastboot features, you must reflash pudding via the "Unlock SBF file" available here:
briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader
Im not sure why you can't get into RSD mode. Try the following:
- Insure that your volume buttons work
- Unplug phone, take out battery
- wait 10 seconds
- reinsert battery
- hold down UP (not down, I made that mistake once) volume button firmly
- press and hold power button
- phone should say "Starting RSD Mode"
To enter Fastboot mode do the same steps as above, only press the down volume button instead. When the word "FastBoot" appears, press the up volume button.
I can get into rsd and fastboot on the phone. The driver in rsd installs as se flash where it used to install as nf flash. Fastboot is working fine, I was able to reroot.
The problem is rsd does not identify my device and allow me to flash. I am thinking it is in the se flash driver instead of the previous nf flash driver.
Anyone have an opinion?

SOLVED!!!
So I figured it out! As it happens I picked up a new Belkin 750 router with networked USB support a few days back for my ext drive and printer. Apperently the Belkin drivers were the culprit! After uninstalling them everything picked up and ran like it should. Some of you devs and folks creating guides should note this in the posts so we can give folks a heads up in case it happens to them. I am sure this will happen to someone else.
This is kind of different from random reboots, because no matter what I am doing on the device or if its ideal, it does reboot around every 3 minutes.
Current version is 4.0.4 and the model of the device is Verizon xt912
System version: 6.16.211.xt912.Verizon.en.US
Kernel version: wt-3.0.0
Build no.: 6.7.2-180 ....
Build date: Jun 14, .... 2012
Another thing is, under the settings, the device is showing Baseband and IMEI - Unknown. Don't know what may have caused this. BTW, currently I am out of country (US) and I have no SIM inserted in the slot (for international GSM), I don't suppose inserting no SIM can lead to base band and IMEI = unknown?
I am no idea if this Unknow Baseband and IMEI is causing the reboot or vice-versa or if there's dependence.
What I have tried:
Wiping Cache through recovery
Reset to factory settings
Option 1 of Matt's Razr Utility 1.82
If anyone can tell me how can I make this phone usable, I would be thankful.

Not really, but would it be any different than restoring to ICS .211 using Matt's Razr Utility?
Can you tell me where I can find the official FXZ for Razr to flash?
It will be different cause stock fxz includes every part of the firmware while matts utility can only install certain parts of it like the system, boot etc.
The RSD simply doesn't detect the device. USB drivers are installed and gets detected fine with Matt's Razr Utility.
Tried different RSD versions. I also tried replacing all the radio, system, boot img and all other files in the Matt's Razr Utility with the FXZ which I was trying to restore back to. It said it did successfully flashed to 211 but the problem is still there.
I think if there's any way to change the base band from Unknown to the original, this problem can be corrected. Any ideas for this?
I cant say why RSD wont detect your device but "Baseband unknown" could be a Bad ESN or a blocked device and a corrupt PDS partition in the worst case..
That said if you do have any of the above your CDMA.XX.XXX baseband is most probably useless what you could try is to get your device to switch to a GSM baseband N.01.XXX and make use of the device with any operational GSM service in your country.
In order to do that root your device install Safestrap and flash any of the GSM roms available.
Try that and tell me the results.

I'll try that and let you know.
While trying to get it to work, I cannot find the EFS folder. I am using Android Commander on PC to browse the files and folders of the device. Its right at the very root, i.e at the location " / " right? Where there are folders like Sys, System, Root, preinstall, preoc etc
You've installed motorola usb drivers,
When the phone is powered off, hold both VOLUME UP + DOWN buttons and press POWER button. You'll get into bootmenu. Release the buttons and navigate with VOLUME DOWN to AP FASTBOOT mode, press VOLUME UP to get into AP FASTBOOT MODE. Connect the phone to pc, launch RSD Lite ( newest version 6.1.4 )
If it detects the phone, flash stock xt912 ics rom.

I don't know why but the RSD lite does not detect the phone. USB drivers are installed and working fine because matt's razr utility detects the phone (before it wasn't).
You may need to run RSD Lite as Administrator for it to work on Win 7/8.
You need to get it to successfully complete flashing the radios in recovery after it finishes the other partitions.
It should reboot into recovery by itself and flash the BP.img and LTE.img and then reboot again normally after it has completed.
That should fix the Baseband unknown and blank IMEI issue.

No. I think I'll try that.
I am uploading a zip file that is just the radio_update_211_RAZR.zip in the radio.img from the 211 FXZ.
You will need to put the file on the root of your sdcard. Since the phone isn't booting, the easiest way is to take out the sdcard and put it in a card reader on your PC to transfer the file. Then reinsert the sdcard in your phone and reboot the phone holding Vol up and down + PWR to get to the boot menu and select recovery.
The phone will boot to M logo and then blank screen briefly and then show the stock recovery with Android and red Exclamation !. Press both Vol up and down at the same time to enter recovery and chose Apply Update from External Storage option and browse to the update_radio_211_RAZR.zip and select it.
It should load lte.img and bp.img and then reboot automatically.
This should allow the phone to boot normally and display the baseband and IMEI again if everything works as described.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7632904/update_radio_211_RAZR.zip
This will avoid the need for RSD Lite if it works. If not, then you can try using fastboot to manually flash the images from the FXZ.
press all three bttn,on black and white menu scroll down and select "BP HW Diag & Boot AP" boot will boot up ,see if phone restarts on its on or not and lemme know ...

If you're using BMM or SAFESTRAP 3.10 with stock ROM flashing enabled I can make you a flashable patch that will allow GSM services to work on the stock ROM itself !?
I'm only trying to help cause I've owned 2 RAZR's previously with the same condition. As I stated earlier if a radio flash or FXZ doesn't fix it then it is a corrupt PDS partition and it cannot be fixed to work on the CDMA baseband.

And if you're doing this and haven't attempted root yet, or would just like to wipe your device through and through, HERE are the Moto USB drivers. Make sure to get the correct installer for x86 or x64.
Install your USB Drivers (if you haven't already)
Install RSD Lite
Turn off your backflip
Plug the USB cable into the phone and computer
Open the keyboard and press J+D+Power simultaneously and let up when you see the blue recovery screen with the black moto batwings. In the bottom left corner of the screen it will say in white letters "USB init mode"
Now when the phone boots to the recovery screen, Windows will begin installing a driver for the MSM720x flash recovery mode.
After the driver has successfully installed, open RSD Lite
Upon opening RSD Lite, you should notice ONE connected device in the table below. If not, post what you did exactly and we can help
Now that the device is showing in RSD Lite, click the "..." browse button to point to the Android 2.1 Blur 3.0.1390 image you downloaded earlier
Once that's selected, press start to start flashing your phone.... DO NOT UNPLUG UNTIL IT'S FINISHED.
Once finished, it will reboot itself and you should be presented with the Android Setup after a minute or two.

Dont forget to install drivers first for the device if using windows based pc. After you root use install safe strap 3.75 if your going to be flashing anything or custom roms. Happy rooting.

If you can get to fastboot mode then you should be able to get it going. You will need the drivers installed for your device then you will need the correct stock firmware to flash with rsd lite. When you get to fastboot mode scroll to ap fast boot then tap the volume up button that will take you to the bootloader to flash. Then open up rsd lite. Connect device to your computer. When it reads it click where it shows your device then you should see all information in rsd lite then click start you will get a prompt upon click of start you click decompress and flash button. Just sit back and wait like 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes it will get stuck at boot logo and rsd lite will say manually reboot phone so go ahead and do so. Once you are in past the bootlogo and actually booted up go ahead and unplug the device from USB port of computer. That's its all done. Here is a side note: when you go into ap fast boot and it says battery is low that means that you will not be able to flash. You will need a fastboot cable. If run into that just let me know I have amazon link where it cost 10 bucks. Cheapest one that's works on our device. I never had a problem with not working.

Ah, so if it's low battery it won't connect to rsd lite? I can't tell how charged it is because it doesn't display battery when I plug it in when it's off but I'll charge it for a bit n get back to it.
When you go to fastboot mode then to ap fastboot it will say low if to low to flash otherwise it will say ok
