When people send me pictures via MMS, my new EVO makes the pictures very small (resolution: 300x400, and size: 19kb). On my wife's phone (the Samsung GSII), it shows that she sent me the MMS in a much larger size. What baffles me even more is that when I take that small MMS picture and re-send it back to her, she gets it in full size. Has anyone else had this issue, and/or does anyone know of a fix?
Also: this is the stock 'Messages' app (on both our phones), and I have checked that the MMS size limit is 1M.

When I send a picture message to my friend on the iphone 4, she never receives it. When she sends me a picture message I receive it. I'm on tmobile and I'm using default messaging app. Shes on att. Do I have to resize my images or something?
I think the native app resizes pics automatically, so I'm going to bet it's a crappy iPhone signal/AT&T data.
You could try image shrink lite to reduce pic sizes and try that?
I've never had a problem sending picture MMS's to iPhones. Just tested with my coworker's iPhone 4.
On Bionix 1.3.1. Regardless of using the touchwiz mms, aosp mms, or go sms, all MMS that I receive from other devices all end up being re-sized to miniscule levels.
iPhone & HTC Desire Z, and a Samsung Gravity are the known phones I've received MMS from and they all come in pretty crappy.
On Mobilicity in Canada, and no one who has sent me an SMS has shared my network.
iPhone is on Bell & Rogers, HTC is on Bell, Gravity is on Rogers.
Has anyone been able to figure out a way to prevent this? I called my carrier and they said re-sizing was done by the handset and not them.
Its just the settings in the mms app! It re-sizes pictures to a smaller size so it's easier to send! There are some hacked mms apps that might let you send uncompressed pictures, but the easy work around is to send it as an email & you get the original picture quality! Hope this helps!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It's not the sending that I'm concerned with, but the receiving.
There was one point where MMS messages came in full sized, but I forget which iteration of Bionix (on eclair) I had at the time. Ever since, everything I receive is ridiculously compressed that I can barely see the picture.
Hi all.
I have a problem with sending mms on x10 with 2.3.3. The problem is that it does not compress images well. Pictures taken in the quality 8MP 4:3 larger than 2mb compresses the 413k. Max in MMS I can upload 300kb. Do you have a patent on it so that high-quality images could send mms. I do not want to do every time lower images specifically for sending mms.
Is there any alternative application or program to compress images on android 2.3.3?
The all in lower quality pictures send and receive without a problem.
I have the same problem, so I use Handcent just when I need to send a picture.
I prefer the stock sms app to daily use.

I use Go SMS and I don't have any problems with sending MMS..
x10i 2.3.3 rooted.
Im' having this exact same issue, but now I'm using WB roms and still same problem. Images are compressed to between 350-450kb and I can not find an option anywhere in the default app or the system settings to set a maximum mms size.
My sister and I have the same phones, the HTC Amaze. We're both running on Android Revolution, and this bug occurs only when I send her a MMS. Not vice versa. Whenever I send her a picture, she ends up getting like 4 of the same pics i sent, when i only sent it once. Does anybody know how to solve this issue?
If you don't get it sorted you can download a free app called WhatsApp. It's like mms but better, send bigger files, more smiles, etc. Send everything for free too (apart from data costs).
So my wife and I are both on Verizon Wireless. She has a Pixel 3 XL & I have a Pixel 2 XL. Whenever she sends me a photo via MMS the filename & all exif data is stripped when I save them to my phone from our message thread. All the saved photos are renamed image000000.jpg.
Now this only happens with photos sent from my wife. If anyone else sends me photos by MMS the filename for them (if i save them to my phone) is the date/time stamp. Can't for the life of me figure out why only from my wife is all the photos data stripped. Any suggestions would be great, thanks so much for any help!
Edit: so I just noticed that its not every single photo taken and sent via mms.. but around 80%. Again this only ever happens when the wife sends pictures no other contacts or friends.
