An app is causing it. What have you installed recently?

The Music Downloader app always did that for me.

Ics battery widget does it for me sometimes. It's definitely an app.

Ok one thing I find very lame about the Photon is that it ships with some stupid advertisements that pop up in the notifications. Anyone know what app it is so I can get rid of them?
Really advertisements? I've never seen any advertisements yous gots spam lol. Maybe there's an app putting ads in your notification bar (I've seen it before).
If you've rooted your phone try adfree but again I've never seen this on my photon.

Im rooted with Ad Free and that works for the apps with ads but these appear in the notification bar and there is a blue star that also appears. It started from the moment we powered the phone on at the store so it's definitely not Span from anything like an app
**Update** http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...-them-once-and-for-all-with-airpush-detector/
This is what it was. Some AirPush bullsh*t. Funny that one of the things it's detecting though is a MW3 Go Launcher Theme, which coincidentally is now nowhere to be found in the Market.
Go under all the application you have on your phone. There is a setting turned on for ads or do what i did... delete everything. Factory reset and install ONLY WHAT YOU NEED. I have seen this in the groupon app. It would do that.

Ohhh check some of the sprint apps then. You can actually remove them. There's honestly NO need to factory reset your phone like the guy above me said lol. Why go through all that hassle for something so trivial.
Click the ad and tell me what it is..
I have the same pop ups
Pretty lame I can't tell what app is causing it

**Update 2** After clearing app data and uninstalling the theme the AirPush detector app no longer finds it. No ads popping up so far.
Sneaky bastards lol.
Mp3 downloaader spanned the crap out of my notification Bar. But on stock you should only see the occasional sprint pop ups.

Spam in my notification bar

Is anyone else getting these spam adds showing up in there notification area saying things like you've won an Ipad and such. They show as a plus symbol when the status bar is in its regular position.
I want to find out how I cab prevent these spam notifications from occurring. Any suggestions?

I have them too. I think mine come from an ics theme I got for go locker. I love the theme so I deal with them, but they are very annoying. Sometimes porn ones too - not cool. If you find out anything let me know.

That's the hole purpose of this post. I don't know which app is causing this so I was hoping someone else does.

I know 'easy uninstaller' by info life and 'mp3 download' with the red circle icon gave me spam on the notification bar.

If you don't mind using another app, Handcent SMS lets you keep the screen off when a message is received.
That app has bad reviews... anyone know if chompSMS has this feature?
My screen doesn't turn on when I get a text, I thought that was the norm!?

Go SMS Pro also has an option for turning the screen on when message arrives.

4,5 Stars for 450 000 Downloads it's not that bad ??
I use the App over more than 15 Months and never had a problem with it. Try it out :fingers-crossed:
Personally I think Hancent is the best especially for the speaking text feature but you could try to turn off the preview feature in message settings not sure if it will work but worth a try

[REQUESTED APP/MOD] AOSP messaging with “Quick Reply” notification option.

I'm not even sure if it's possible, but I'd like something like that. I know GoSMS has pop-up notifications, but they're too damn intrusive.
I just want to be able to pull down the notifications tray, tap “reply,” and have a window pop-up.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would recommend slide messaging .
I would love if we could get this. This is one of the only requests I have that would make stuff better than we already have it. I have an aosp messaging app that someone posted a while back but it is kind of buggy sometimes and it lacks some features that newer ones have.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't appear to give me the quick reply options in the notification tray, though. :\

Glowfly does, though! And quite well, too! Best 99¢ ever spent.

Meh. It didn't work for me. Plus, it's über buggy. Glowfly let's you use any messenger. It just affects the notification drawer. Plus, its popup windows are better, in my opinion.
I always have problems with these third party sms apps, the notifications are always messed up, lightflow doesn't work right, I get the same messages twice a lot, and the list can go on.
.......I just want an AOSP rom so I can be done with these stupid problems, sense is going to be the death of HTC.
For sure, dude. I need me some Paranoid Android lovin' up in heeyah. Tablet apps in 1080p? Yes, please.

Remove "Location set by GPS" from notification

The addition to my notification area telling me that my location is set by GPS is driving me crazy.
Anyone know how to get rid of it?

I hate it too, along with the ongoing WiFi notification, and Verizon takes off the WiFi toggle and unlimited scroll the the home screen. I'm starting to hate Verizon and Samsung for this. Everything else I like about the phone
