Stock ICS stuck at boot logo - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've flashed stock firmware for ICS from stock GB, factory reset and cleared cache and I'm stuck at the boot logo. I've left it for over 2 hours and nothing. Battery removed trick and all that does nothing.
How does one fix this?
What causes it?

try re-dwnld'ng the firmware from a diff link and flash the same thro odin getting into dwnld mode and see it might resolve the issue, since i fill its a bad firmaware dwnld thats causing the issue

Format your internal SD-Card

Go into the recovery mode & wipe/factory reset & wipe cache & wipe davlink.
I had faced the same issue and this did the trick.
hope it resolves your prob...

I'm not sure what davlink is, but if it is anything like the dalvik cache, then I think I've wiped it as I have been told the stock recovery cache clearing does this. If this isn't true, how do you do this?

I do have many GB of photos/movies in there. Perhaps it's somehow stuck indexing them. Always hard to know when the OS gives you no feedback whatsoever!
Is there an easy way of doing this?

I have tried formatting the internal SD card before flashing and _still_ stuck at the "S" boot logo. I noted that the file format concatenates a line at the end containing ASCII with the md5sum of the original TAR and the filename, which I confirm when splitting this off the file. So I'm pretty sure the download is in good shape.
This is the firmware for Australia unbranded from sammobile. Is anyone out there able to confirm the MD5 of the individual bits (even if you got the kernel etc. from another package but with the same version tag) and if this firmware works for them.

I've download a different stock package with the following IDs:
I9100XWLP8 I9100OPSLP4 I9100XXLPS
Same deal. Also the kernel md5sum from this package matches the one from before.
What is the story with debugging this? alogcat is of no use. How can I tell why this doesn't work??

No ROM Booting

So i managed to solve the problem that i had.
When i said that i could flash only the stock one, i was flashing XXKI3 as one file after each failed attempt to flash a custom one.
So i tried and flashed another stock rom, again as 1 file. after the flash was done the phone again stucked at first screen wit the triangle.
After that i thought that something was really messed up in the phone and flashed again XXKI3 with PIT and multiple files and offcourse RE-Partition.
After that flash a stock rom with 1 file and modified bootloader from Intratech's thread, this way you can also reset the binary caunter with a jig (can find many on ebay).
After finish flashing and first boot
root with CF kernel and flash any custom rom. It worked as it should. Now i am on a custom rom and trying to see which one suits me best.
Thank Jiganet for some may be needed modified bootloader which is recommended so you can reset binary counter.
Everyone tha nk you for your suggestions and help.
any rom that i install is not getting beyond the bootlogo. i had xxki3 stock with cf-root xxki3 kernel.
every install i make full wipe on everything before(data, cache, dalvik).
any body any idea?
only stock rom working.
The first boot takes some time. Are you waiting that long?

1. Enter Clockworkmod recovery
1a. Do a Backup (not a must, but i suggest) from the cwm recovery of your current rom/settings.
2. Wipe Data/Cache Factory reset
3. Flash the new rom you want
4. Again (not needed but well..) Wipe Data/Cache Factory Reset
5. Wipe Cache
6. Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache (this is why you get bootloops)
7. Reboot to system
Wait 4-5 minutes and you will have your new, shiny working rom.
Hope it helps, cheers

Mh strange, the strange is.. with the stock rom is working.
Looks like your phone dosnt like the rom you are flashing so the quesion now is:
Are you sure, you are flashing a rom your phone can read? I know the i9100G and the AT&T versions cant be flashed with the standard (i9100) S2 roms (there is a specific thread i think here on xda for those versions)
mine is an unbranded i9100 from Greece. i am flashing the correct roms.

next time when u flash try formatting system.
In CWM >mounts and storage> format system
Please state detailed steps you did when flashing a ROM and what kind of ROM.. That will help alot on trouble shooting your problem.

every body read first post managed to solve this.
Hi was there a solution to this problem as I seem to get it with EVERY rom I try to install from zip?
Hi to all, this is my first Post and this is my First Android I come from an iPhone 2G, iPhone 3g, iPhone 3GS and my last phone was an iPhone 4!!! now I'm extremely happy with my new SGS2!!!
I have been searching a lot!!! for a solution for this flash loop issue,
1 - I have flash to a stock 2.3.5 KI3 samfirmware,
2- then I have Odin>PDA>cf-root-KI3-4.2.tar to root my phone.
3 - After that I downloaded 3 custom roms, DarkyROM2_KI3, VillainROM-3.0.0-signed and Cyanogen cm_galaxys2_full-112. put them on my root internal sdcard.
4 - booted to ClockworkMod Recovery menu.
5 - Wipe Data/Factory Reset
6 - Wipe Partition Cache.
7 - Install Zip from sdcard.
and every thing seems ok, but when i restart, it stays on the boot loop, even if i manage to enter to CWM Recovery menu it says that E: Can't Mount ... bla bla bla
I had been trying to put a custom rom so much that my binary counter is now on 10
I'm going to try what you wrote on the first post!
Restore to stock KI3 firmware using pit file and repartition.
after that install the cf-root kernel. Restart and try to install any custom firmware.
Hope it works
Not it did not work, Maybe the problem was Wipe Partition cache after installing new rom, going to stock and repeating
I'm having this exact same problem, please post here if you find an answer to your problem.
I first installed checkrom with no problems, then i decided to wipe and try install dlevrom but after rebooting i'm left with the same problem as above.
It's only when i flash stock 2.3.5 KI3 through odin with pit, repartition, all checked that my phone works.
I then repeat the steps of flashing cf root through odin and then try flash a custom rom, either checkrom or dlevrom and neither work.
Another try another fail!
I have no idea on what else can I do!!! tried again and nothing! I tied cf-root 4.1 and nothing and cf-root 4.2 and nothing!.
I'm having this exact same problem, please post here if you find an answer to your problem.

After i got the stuck on boot! I can restore to stock by only using the PDA, I don't need to set the pit file again!, but I'm usign all the files on Odin to see If that makes any difference but nothing!!!
I wonder how mariosraptor did it!!!! Can you throw us a light???
I have explained it on first post. Just follow step by step the first post directions.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Nope it didn't work
The steps I did:
1. Restore to stock using PIT, PDA, PHONE, CSC.
2. After it boots root the phone with cf root 4.1 for ki3
3. Use CWM Recovery to flash the new rom on internal sdcard.
I have been doing it with wipe data, wipe cache, wipe develk.
Nothing is there a step that im missing?
Thanks
SOLVED!!!!!! JAJAJA
The only problem, was one minor thing, a little thing called Bootloader!
I installed the old bootloader!
find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
And after that every thing worked perfectly, no boot loops!!!!
Hope it helps!!!

Help, cannot flash through odin, it keeps failing

BEFORE anyone mention that this problem has been mentioned before, read twice.
i was on omega rom, it kept rebooting. so i cleared cache and all that stuff. shut down the phone, booted in download mode. tried flashing my stock firmware KK3, it goes up to flashing kernel then fails.
when i turn the phone off and on i get the a different screen saying firmware upgrade failed try restoring via kies.
i tried lp2 firmware it flashes fine. could it be that i was using ICS before and now it doesnt let me go back to 2.3.6
pls respond with solutions
Omega has ICS themed ROMs but no ICS firmware ROMs so it wont be cos of that.Did you try a full system wipe before the flash??
boot to recovery and wipe cache partition. Then go to "mounts and storage" and format System/Data/Cache and then do a factory reset then reboot. The Phone probably wont go past the Galaxy-S logo so pull the battery then put it back in and boot to download mode and try the flash again. If that doesnt work you could try to flash the F/W that works and then flash a new kernel. After that try the 2.3.6 flash again.

Thx I will try it soon. But how come I can flash ics kp8 and lp2 roms
Are you using the new bootloader then?
That one Im not sure of but I have read on other threads that people have had to "repartition" their phones to be able to flash back from ICS.Not bieng on ICS I dont see why you cant as the Omega ROM was just themed.Im on the latest Omega and its 2.3.6. so 100% positive it wasnt ICS.Also Try stupid things like another com port.Happened to me once. The one I was using when I had an i9000 stopped letting me flash it via Odin when it reached the same stage every time I tried.Dont Know why.Just had to change ports.Try everything:
1.Full wipe and flash.....If that dont work then...
2.Flash F/W that works then change kernel and flash old bootloader(as mentioned above)never know, might work.
http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD
Flash it in PDA in Odin.
ALso you could try a program called "Fus Downloader"

True.Same thing happened to my mate.He has an i9000 and Odin stopped flashing his phone but only if he used a PIT file so I gave him my i9100 cable and it started flashing his phone again with PIT file selected.Weird how things work sometimes for no real reason.Anyway Nandroid backups are always a good call.could have saved some trouble the this case.Ive got a Nandroid backup on my phone and copied to DropBox thats months old but it would get me out of trouble if this sort of thing happened to me Even though its old as.Gotta have that saftey net.

Mate,thats a strange one alright.
Any luck yet.I was thinking that you might have to look for a package that has the older 4 file flash with pit.Its possible that maybe you need to repartition your device.Might be hard to find thought.

wssyncmldm and gapps error after flash

Hello everyone
I have recently tried out the ics rom i found here on xda and now i want to flash back to the stock rom and followed intrantechs guide
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278)
but since his multiupload links are dead i found my firmware on samfirmware.com
I9100XWKI8_I9100OXXKI2_NEE (nordic countries) which is the firmware i had before ics.
The problems is, that after i flash the phone i get 2 errors during the setup guide.
Both these processes keep shutting down unexpectedly which means i cant do the setup guide.
process com.wssyncmldm
process com.google.process.gapps
have i done anything wrong during the flash or is these common errors which is easy to fix?
i hope you can help me out here
*EDIT*
the ics update had both PDA, Phone and CSC file but the stock rom only have a file for PDA
where can i find stock csc and phone files?

[Q] SGS2 Bricked - Please Help

Hello,
Here's what I did:
I had Stock 4.0.4 firmware updated via Kies.
Made a backup.
I rooted Phone using SU Busybox method
Installed CyanogenMod 10.
It didn't want to boot so I wiped /data and dalvik cache and it worked.
ROM generally worked but didn't read my external sd so I restored the stock version with CWM.
I decited to try out the newer version of Cyan 10.
Installation went exactly the same - I wiped /data and dalvik cache.
Sadly it also didn't read external sd so I restored to 4.0.4.
Cyan felt really good so I went for it's latest stable version.
Sadly something went terribly wrong and it didn't boot and I could no longer wipe /data.
I can no longer install .zip from CWM when I try it shows some red warnings (about /system and /cache) and the picture of Android being dead.
When I get back from work I'll try to fix /system with Odin, hope it works.
Can this problem be solved or do I have to bury my phone.
Please Help!
if you can go to download mode, you can flash another stock firmware.. if u cant go to download mode, a usb jig will save u
i hope this helps!

try dwnld'ng the stock ICS 4.0.3 firmware for GT I9100 from www.sammobile.com meant for ur region and flash the same thro 'odin' and see
I used Modified PIT files from here and recovery pack from here.
I simply localised wasted partition in Odin - it stopped on /data - and was applying modified .PIT files one after another till ...1536-MiB.pit finally worked for me.
I had to clear the cache partition first.
Hope it helps.

[Q] soft brick - bootloop

hi there i have had my device rooted for awhile now and all of the sudden it just started to get stuck in a bootloop, just displaying the "samsung galaxy s III GT-I9300T" screen then goes black and repeats
i have a sgs3 GT-I9300T (from telstra, australia if it matters)
i rooted with "CF-Auto-Root" which worked fine and was working fine for atleast a month
i dont have a backup (yes im a noob/idiot for not creating a backup but didnt think there was any reason to)
i have tried flashing the latest firmware from sammobile using odin (with only auto reboot and F. reset time checked)
i can still access recovery (factory or custom from flashing in odin)
i've already tried a few suggestions from some posts on here but alot of them arent for the international/I9300T version so wasnt game enough to try them out in fear of fully bricking it
if anyone can help out with what i should try that would be great
i would even settle for resetting flash counter and system status back to 0/offical so that i can try and return it
current state is:
Custom binary download: Yes (3 counts)
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Custom

yes and even installed CWM recovery to clear the "dalvik cache"
Here is thought
Pull out sdcard, better format in FAT32, copy few ROM into it by using card reader or other usable phone which has sdcard slot.
Flash any of newest recovery such as TWRP personally suggested, Backup current ROM in case of further needed and then
Factory reset, format /system partition, wipe cache / Dalvik cache, and then flash new ROM too see if it works.
Remember format system partition!

download this file http://checkrom.com/threads/resurrection-odin-checkrom-evohd™-v4.896/
get into odin and flash this file into your phone through the download mode ... if everything works it should boot into cwm recovery .. then wipe data\factory reset , wipe cache , wipe dalvik cache and reboot ... wait 15 mins and it should work!! Good Luck!
woot this worked!
i tried re downloading the file first like qtwrk suggested and reflashing it in odin which still returned the same result but i then downloaded this one and did it and it worked
i got into the os downloaded triangle away and reset the counter then flashed the telstra one again so that it was right back to factory default firmware which is what i wanted, will proberly root it again but will def make sure i get a full backup right away incase of any issues later on.
thank you all for your help
hye me again just thought id write an update on my situation
it appears that the phone had stuffed up again this time tho couldnt get into recovery mode but could still get into download mode
i didnt bother doing the same thing again instead i just took it back to telstra and they replaced it, and they replaced it with the 305 model so worked out alright in the end
