To go to hboot go to power and disable fastboot then turn phone off and vol down plus power ought to get you in hboot.
As far as the combo I do not know as I have yet to get the phone lol.
Try holding vol up and down n then power..
I believe it is power + home button for 15 seconds...
I think its power and volume down...or at least it was like that on the EVO 3d.
pretty sure the battery pull is - press and hold power button for 10 seconds
hboot - no idea yet
Lots of different thoughts on this lol
In the One X forum I was told holding power for 10sec shuts phone down. Here I've read that vol + & vol- and hold home. A bit surprised about home, though, since it's a softkey

Idk which it is as I don't have the phone I wish someone would find out tho...
From the home screen you can hold power volume down and the camera button and the phone will fully shut down. Once it does, release power and then hold it again for a few seconds and you'll be in the boot loader. This is where you'll see it say S-ON and you'll whisper to yourself "For now."

I believe the power down is holding just the power button for so many seconds. As far as bootloader I'm not sure I think its still volume down and power. I accidently booted into bootloader today when turning my phone back on after my pt case turned it off. I think I had the volume down partially pressed on accident when hitting power.

Yea im pretty sure the document that got leaked early said that you just hold the power button for 10 seconds.
EDIT: Here you go Page 24. It says Note: If the phone hangs and the touchscreen does not respond, press and hold "power" for about 10 seconds to restart the phone.
EDIT 2: Also found this here
Symptom #2:
If the device cannot power on, and seems that it cannot be charged, it could be that the device is not in default operation mode. This can be caused when the “volume up key” was pressed while pressing the “power” key when device was last powered down. To power on and off the device normally, please be careful to not hold down any other hardware key while pressing the power key during power up operations.
How to fix:
1. Press & hold the power button for up to ~ 20 seconds. The capacitive keys (three keys at bottom of screen) should begin flashing. This indicates that a reset is imminent. Continue to hold power until they stop flashing.
2. Release the power key
3. Press the power key again for 1 second. Wait a few seconds and the device should then power on

No, I tried it, and it didn't work.
Only holding down the power button for about 10 sec worked for me.
I thought the Konami code worked for everything ....weird.

So i picked up my Otterbox Defender case today and just noticed something . There is a small hole right next to the headphone jack . It is built into the case also so it makes me think its a reset since they have an access hole built into the case .

Hello,
a few days ago my HD2 just froze and I had to press the red restart button. I thought it was just a random freeze but my HD2 wouldn't start up anymore. So I pressed the reset button a few more times, tried taking the battery out several times and then eventually it would work again. I was able to start my HD2 and use it for 4-5 hours. Then I had the same situation occur again - it froze and didn't start up. I was able to start it once again but it froze after 20-30 mins this time. Now I can't seem to start it at all.
I've tried pressing the hang-up-button and the volume button at the same time, but it won't work.
When I plug my HD2 into the charger, the red light also doesn't come. It just stays dark.
If I try a hard-reset this message won't appear on my HD2:

It's possible that your battery has died. Do you know if it had any charge on it last time it worked?

I'm almost certain it did charge last time it worked.
Also, I was on vacation in a very hot place and my cellphone was in the car for some time. Is it possible that the high temperatures broke my battery?

oops... Sorry. May be the battery dead. Was it a original stock battery or some china made brand? If it is original one then you can go for warranty claim if your phone is under warranty. I don't think battery may dead so early but if it is not original (as some china made type) then we can expect that. Don't use those batteries as they hold the explosion risk too.
I use the original battery.

Does your Phone not respond in any way?
Have you tried this?:
Plug in Charger and then put the battery in, normally the phone turn on with this method.
Does that also not work?!
Take a Look if you charger and the cable is broken. Use another cable (if you have a Logitech Performance MX try the cable from this mouse).
Try to measure if the battery is dead. You can also use your tongue to test that.
ATTENTION: You should do that only on low voltage parts!!! Like batteries until 9V for e.g.. DO NOT LICK ON A ELECTRICAL OUTLET!!! You would be suprised, beleive me (no I don't try this )
Plug your USB Cable to a Computer if you are not sure if you charger works.
The HD2 vibrates -> TWO <- times before it starts.
One really light and short vibration and one you could not miss^^
Does you phone vibrate when you try to turn it on?
Okay, so I bought a new battery, but my HD2 still won't work.
It's absolutely the same problem.
wife had this problem too was solved when we noticed the pins inside the phone were bent for the battery. fixing them got rid of the problem.
no seems to have mentioned that yet so take a look, they wont be bent much but that is for us.

I'm like 90% sure my first battery was nearly fully charged and I assume the new one I bought usually should be fully charge too, right?
is the bottom of the back of the phone warm?
If it is then, i suspect that your motherboard is overheating.
Mine has frequent lock ups and sticking it in the fridge for 15mins (seriously) helps with the boot up.
Also install Battclock so you can see what the CPU % is, as mine would always lock up at 100%, perpetuating the overheating issue.
Let me know if the fridge helps your boot ups.
Mine will be going in for service soon, its only 6 months old.

OK,
Can you get into the tri colour screen?
i think at this point your goal is to get it working.
You may have to sacrifice your data on the hd2 though.
Pull out the SD card. then remove the battery.
Hold the vol button down and power on,
Try to get to the tri colour screen and tray to flash a new radio to it.
Failing that, perform a Task29, and try to boot.
10 mins in the fridge wont hurt it at all.
Try to boot.

It may be the battery. You can try to get a replacement on amazon for $9 or you could take the battery from your phone and put the 3 pin to your tip of your tong and see if it has any current. If it has current then ignore the steps below as it is your phone that has the problem If you have no warranty, or cash at the moment do the following.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! The only thing that can get damage is your battery.
Most likely your battery is dead, so plugging in a power supply to your phone won't do any good since the phone can't detect it if I'm right. But you try to can jump charge it giving it power to see if its the battery or your hd 2 that has the problem
If you are good with electronics and wires do the following in a safe environment. (Low Fire risk)
1.Take a spare wall adapter that came with a sell phone or mp3 player.
2.Look at the back make sure its rated no more than 5V
3.Cut the cable at the tip and expose the 2 wires inside they most likely will be red and black. RED = + Black = -
If both wires are black then look closely one of them should have a WHITE strip
The wire with the white stripe is the + and the other is the -
4.Make sure you cut the wire so the golden tips are exposed
make sure that they are neat and in place
5.Take the battery and notice on the back there are a + and a - take the wire and carefully match + with + and the - with - for 1min. It is very important that you do not make the wires touch because it will smoke
6.After 1 min remove the wires and put the battery in your HD 2. If it does not power on then your phone needs repair.
I wish you the best.

Are you saying that it wont turn on at all, nothing!
So you have tried holding the volume button up and down, and power on!
I received a micro USB jig for the Galaxy S2.
In order to test in (my phone works normally with the retail kernel in it) I turned it off and plugged the jig into it but it booted *normally* NOT in download mode.
Is this normal ?
Your JIG is broken probably
Try turning it off, pulling out the battery, inserting the JIG and putting everything back in there.
Faulty JIG, the 301k or 300k resistor is not on the correct pin (4 and 5).
when you put in the jig, you don't need to push any hardware buttons. if you press power, it might boot normally, but if you let it stay off, then plug in the jig and wait for about 10 seconds, the download mode should appear. if that doesn't happen, indeed i would agree that probably the resistor or its placement might be faulty.
Thanks,
I'll try to open in and check if the contacts are not broken.
or the resistor is not 301k. You can check it with a multimeter.
I hecked with my meter, it appeared 300kOhm, which is correct (a few % error of my multimeter allowing).
I took a few pics pf the jig. I saw a very smapp component (probably the restistor with a print "3013" (or "E10E" uside down ?).
But I am not sure whether the pins are correct.
It is on the right side seen towards the socket and the wide side of the plug on top. I don't know whether this is pin 1 and 2 or 4 and 5.
Does somebody know this?
*** EDIT***
I saw a poor soldering contact on one side of the resistor. I held very carefully a hot soldering iron against it and saw it soldering.
After cooling I tried again and YES !! it booted in download mode.
Anyway thanks for your help.

interesting pictures anyway!
I have one of these and also did wonder how I might test it - don't actually want to use it in anger unless I have to!
So, switch phone off, plug this in and watch as phone comes up in download mode. What then? Just switch it off and remove the plug or just remove the plug?
I accept this is a newbie/clueless-type question - apologies in advance. In my defense, my SGS2 is back with the suppliers where it appears to have gone "missing"

As soon as it boots into download mode you can remove the jig. To turn it off I normally just pull the battery. I think holding the power button might work as well but I never tried, so don't take my word for it.

The only way to get it out of 'download mode' is removing the battery (as the power button does not work then) and installing it again and then power it on normally.
I have got out of download mode using the power button numerous times. So you don't have to pull the battery.

Same here, using the power button which just needs to be held for a while until the phone reboots.

I just made my own jig with a breakout board plus a 100k, 200k and 1k resistors in series
Booted into download in under 2 seconds, and i turned it off as I always do from download mode using Vol-Up+Power.
If anyone has problems with making your own jigs, you can buy them from amazon for around £4-£5, if you're worried about the supplier, I think that amazon dispatches them as well.

Really? Cuz Ive been turning it off using the power button after using the JIG. you do realize it takes +/- 10 seconds for the power button to work in download mode right? Its to make sure you dont accidentily switch the phone of when hitting it.
So do not pull the battery, use the power button. Its safer and your hardware will like it better.

It's my brothers phone and I dont mess with it.
He says it only shows that when you are holding the power button.
He has tried to get into the stock recovery and it still only shows this.
Any ideas?
He is completely stock (no root custom rom or recovery)
Maybe a bad battery?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Whenever you want to get into recovery with the 3-button combo, just unplug the USB charger. It worked for me back when I had GB on my Fascinate. that was ages ago though.
Just flashed a JB rom
Yeah thanks. I just got into recovery and did a factory reset.

I know this is an old thread but this problem never went away. I finally have time to work with it.
I was able to do a factory reset and the problem went away for about 30 mins.
When it started to do it again I went ahead and used odin to flash back to stock even tho it was already stock.
Still no go. I even bought a new battery and still the same problem.
It had been like this for 2 months now.
Any ideas for a possible fix?

It is unplugged? So, you hold all 3 buttons down until SAMSUNG logo shows up, and you continue to hold everything until it turns off again? Then you let go, and it should reboot into recovery.

Last time I had it booted up it was working fine.
I turned it off then back on and all I get to show up is the battery icon.
If I hold all 3 to get to recovery it will go into a bootloop until I let go of the buttons.
If I hold Vol up and power it also goes into a bootloop until I let go.
If I hold Vol down and power the battery icon will stay on screen as long as I hold it and the bottom buttons respond like normal but nothing onscreen happens.
If I just hold power it does the same as Vol down and power.
This is all without being plugged in. And I have tried using 2 different batteries.

Ohh, ok I thought you meant it did this when you try to get into recovery..
So it is on stock gingerbread? [EH03]
You could try using Odin and restore it to stock, but you would lose all your apps & data.. I'm not positive that it would do anything, but if after doing that it still has this problem, most likely it is a hardware problem.
I suppose it has been over a year since it was bought? Samsung has a 1-year warranty, I had to send mine in after I got it used on craigslist--twice in fact, they ended up replacing the main board. I sent it in 11 months after it was bought, a month later and I would have had a terrible phone. [stability issues & usb port would not connect to PC, only charge]
Yeah it's well over the one year warranty.
I can eventually get it to boot up if it is plugged in.
I'm thinking it's a hardware problem too.
I have had this problem on stock and I used Odin to flash it to stock anyways and flashed powerwash.
It still has this problem no matter what I do.
I may try an aosp ROM just to see.
Thanks for your input.

Okay, no problem, hope you get it figured out.
Also I'd recommend a cm10 ROM I have ParanoidAndroid which is pretty good if you like fooling with the layout and dpi for each app.

Hi
Today my XZU just bricked itself. Phone was working when I want to change track in Walkman, but when I unplug headphones and hit the power button the phone was not responding, same when I plug charger or connect to pc even in flashmode the phone doesn't respond. Nothing happening, on pc nothing show up. It working on official 4.3, no root, no unlocked bootloader. What was happened to my XZU?
Hold power and vol up for about 5 secs should vibrate 3 times

Open the sim slot, there's a red colored button near sim tray. Press and hold until you feel vibration ...

aaaaaaand that's working! thanks man! & question is why was that happened to my XZU? and why engineers put reset button there? not like in other phones by holding power button for few sec?
For headstrong hang use reset button and for normal hang use vol up+power until you feel vibration...

But didn't help me
After ordinary flashing c6802 india ftf with FlashTool phone rebooted and... nothing more
Not even flash, fastboot, vibration - only black screen.
Accidentally, got it to my ear and I can hear periodic beeps every second

Disconnect everything then press the red button until you feel vibration...
If you can't feel the vibration then plug in your wall charger and wait for about an hour and try flashing again...

No reaction on red button, the same silent beeps somewhere inside
Plugged in, waiting...
UPD:
Ehm before flashing had 80%+ so it will take a whole lot of time before it discharges If it lost 1% overnight while being on and checking mail I don't know how much it takes when it's off but beeping.
Now I have blinking red led and it reacts to red button with three vibrations. Still no luck connecting and flashing, it is saying that it's a USB HID device and FlashTool says "Device connected with USB debugging off".
At least something, not totally dead.
Exactly how are you trying to get into flash mode?
I got my zu recovered from flashing red led. Have to make sure it if fully powered off.
