It's my brothers phone and I dont mess with it.
He says it only shows that when you are holding the power button.
He has tried to get into the stock recovery and it still only shows this.
Any ideas?
He is completely stock (no root custom rom or recovery)
Maybe a bad battery?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Whenever you want to get into recovery with the 3-button combo, just unplug the USB charger. It worked for me back when I had GB on my Fascinate. that was ages ago though.
Just flashed a JB rom

Yeah thanks. I just got into recovery and did a factory reset.

I know this is an old thread but this problem never went away. I finally have time to work with it.
I was able to do a factory reset and the problem went away for about 30 mins.
When it started to do it again I went ahead and used odin to flash back to stock even tho it was already stock.
Still no go. I even bought a new battery and still the same problem.
It had been like this for 2 months now.
Any ideas for a possible fix?

It is unplugged? So, you hold all 3 buttons down until SAMSUNG logo shows up, and you continue to hold everything until it turns off again? Then you let go, and it should reboot into recovery.

Last time I had it booted up it was working fine.
I turned it off then back on and all I get to show up is the battery icon.
If I hold all 3 to get to recovery it will go into a bootloop until I let go of the buttons.
If I hold Vol up and power it also goes into a bootloop until I let go.
If I hold Vol down and power the battery icon will stay on screen as long as I hold it and the bottom buttons respond like normal but nothing onscreen happens.
If I just hold power it does the same as Vol down and power.
This is all without being plugged in. And I have tried using 2 different batteries.

Ohh, ok I thought you meant it did this when you try to get into recovery..
So it is on stock gingerbread? [EH03]
You could try using Odin and restore it to stock, but you would lose all your apps & data.. I'm not positive that it would do anything, but if after doing that it still has this problem, most likely it is a hardware problem.
I suppose it has been over a year since it was bought? Samsung has a 1-year warranty, I had to send mine in after I got it used on craigslist--twice in fact, they ended up replacing the main board. I sent it in 11 months after it was bought, a month later and I would have had a terrible phone. [stability issues & usb port would not connect to PC, only charge]

Yeah it's well over the one year warranty.
I can eventually get it to boot up if it is plugged in.
I'm thinking it's a hardware problem too.
I have had this problem on stock and I used Odin to flash it to stock anyways and flashed powerwash.
It still has this problem no matter what I do.
I may try an aosp ROM just to see.
Thanks for your input.

Okay, no problem, hope you get it figured out.
Also I'd recommend a cm10 ROM I have ParanoidAndroid which is pretty good if you like fooling with the layout and dpi for each app.

I was trying to revert to stock with odin and it froze on 'do not turn off target', so i left it for 5 min but still nothing so disconnected the phone and got the 'phone ! pc' screen but connected straight back to odin from there when i reconnected usb.
I tried again and this time it froze on 'dbdata.rfs' i think so left it for another few min but still nothing so disconnected again thinking id just be able to give it a 3rd try but the phone wouldnt do anything, no recovery mode or download mode, tried all button combos and still nothing.
I found today after trying a few more things that it gets to a screen with red writing.......

doesnt it need to be able to turn on to download mode or something for that to work ?? cos it doesnt do anything apart from that screen in the pic
What you have to do is when you see the phone to PC screen hold the power button in until you see that screen pop up for the second time, as soon as it does plug in the USB into your phone and a com port should show up. After that your good to go. You can Odin back to stock from the phone to PC screen. It happens to me every time I use Odin and forget to disable Voodoo first. Good luck man.

tried that loads of times but still nothing
Kyle, you tried with the battery out, sd card out, and sim card out to get back into download mode right?
Loading odin, usb into pc, plug usb into phone, holding both volume buttons and then inserting the battery back?
Also, you may want to re-download your stock files for ODIN.. and check the MD5 (if they were given) to make sure your downloaded files were good.
yeh, everything out and tried with both my usb's but still just stays black
Do it with odin open... see if it connects and if so just try flashing it...

The same screen that you posted the pic of happened to me too. After messing with it for five hours r so I was able to get it into download mode. After pulling the bat and plugging it in... so weird that you can't do it...

i read somewhere that someone said you can get to download mode from that screen but iv held buttons, unplugged plugged back in but still nothing
if the phone has to be on or whatever for a jig to work, like the 'phone ! pc' screen it works on maybe plugging a jig in while on that red writing screen will take me to download mode ??
worth a try but need 1 first
I read the same thing when I Google it. They said once on the red screen just go striaght to download mode from there, but I was never able to... it just shut off everytime... ya maybe the jig. Stupid thought but maybe it had something to do with it, when mine finally went to download mode my bat was almost dead the moment I flashed it the phone died when I un plugged it... maybe worth a try...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
i cut the charger i got with the phone down to make a jig out of the end of it, i got right down to the board but only looks like its got 4 pins, 2 on the front and 2 at the back
looking closer it looks like theres 2 soldered together on the back and then 1 by itself but the 3 should be on the front
You've probably seen this, but:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Micro-USB.jpg
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
i chopped 1 of my usb's up after that but still nothing
after i put the usb in the phone and touch the resistors on, like an hour or 2 later the phone's warm so it does something just doesnt show on the screen
I had similar situation.
Try thid
1. Pull the battery.
2. Connect USB cable to pc.
3. Open odin program in the pc.
3. Hold vol up and down key and power button of phone and plugin usb cable. As soon as you see the vibrant screen leave the POWER button only. You will see android icon - aka download mode. Let go of vol keys
Insert batery now.
Check Odin for com connected.
Now you are ready to flash.
Good luck.

S2 Battery Temperature Warning - Won't Boot - GRRRRR!!!

Ok I'm really bitter right now. My wife and I each have an S2. Mine has been fine for the last 2 months and hers recently starting having problems. It keeps thinking that a USB cable is plugged in.
A Google search reveals that this is indeed a common hardware problem.
When you do a restart, you get the battery icon and flashing yellow triangle with the thermometer symbol. And the only way to get it to boot up is to plug it in.
The device functions fine other than that, but other than connecting to Kies via USB, there is no other USB related functions that is working.
Gonna give Samsung support a call and see how I can warranty this. Hoping it's not going to be a painful process.
Anyone else having the same problem? How did you resolve it? New replacement? Did they repair? How long did it take? What did you do?
Thanks.
I have the same problem, started with me recently, I had my phone with USB debugging mode on.
Can't confirm when it started for sure, but it may have been because I disconnected it from my computer once, before ejecting the device through windows explorer.
In any case, I can't turn on the phone now without removing the battery or having it plugged in.
I received the battery at 100% notification and it doesn't leave when I unplug the device.
It's become very flaky, and I don't like it. Did you have any luck with Samsung support?
Anyone have any information on this or another link to how to fix this? I'm getting the temperature gauge and can't figure out how to fix it!!

Brother had the same problem. Try adjusting the piece in the USB port of the phone either up or down. I used a small flat head screwdriver. Make sure the phone is off and battery out.
I'm not responsible for any further damage to the phone.

Yeah - get a replacement.
I had similar issues with mine. Took it to Carphone warehouse in uk. And they replaced usb port within 30 mins. Its a common fault.
Try to clean USB port.
This morning I just noticed this problem with my phone and I also noticed that under the battery stats it shows that the phone is always charging.
If I reboot the phone sometimes I lose about 20% from the battery, but then it starts to recharge although the phone is not plugged in.
I will try to change the battery with a friend of mine, maybe it's battery related, I will report back.
I suppose that the problem of discharging is:
A) when connected it can't enter in deep sleep mode
B) vbus_present eating battery

This is acually the first thing I thought when I started reading your thread. No first hand experience, of course, but I've noticed quite a few times people report that the battery looping behavior is associated with a bad usb port. The good news is that it is fairly easy to replace. Some even do it themselves.

If you look up the thread about power buttons not working you will see my wife's phone had the same problem. Couldn't use the power button at all. If it went to sleep I couldn't wake it up. To wake the device I had to plug it into a charger then I could swipe to open it. If I powered it off it turned back on by itself. If I pulled the battery and put it back in it powered itself back up. So it acted like the power button was stuck on.
It had cm9 on it at the time. I downloaded quick boot so I could get to recovery, reboot, etc. I wiped everything and reflashed the cm9. Still wouldn't work. For recovery in cm9 I was able to select anything I wanted by using the volume up/down and the home button to select. I ended up flashing cm10 on it and got everything started up but still no power button.
I was about to flash to stock just to make sure it was a hardware issue but ran out of time that day before work. So I set the volume keys to wake the device. Sometimes it took two or three times of pushing the volume buttons to wake it up to the lock screen.
So I went to work for my three days so I couldn't get back to it during that time. My first day off I asked to see her phone so I could mess with it some more and to my surprise the power button started working and has for the past couple days so far. I was going to tear it apart and clean it/dust it or anything I could try. But bam...I didn't need to so far.
So LOOONNNGGGG story short it kind of sounds like what my wife's phone had going on. I had spoke to Josh at Mobiletech videos and he could fix it for $35 so that woild have been my next course of action. Good luck

I have been reading around and rarely post unless necessary bt I wonder why 122ninjas always reply those who need help in a harsh way? Probably he is right that they dont search around for the fixes but not everyone thinks as fast as he does. And not everyone knew the exact way hw to solve it without asking, maybe they were anxious abt getting it work asap! Its either help by inputting something valuable than having to reply in such sarcasm manner. Not trying to flame him but im trying to understand the logic behind him doing this. It would just scare everyone off if they were to ask something and got backfired.

Help!!! Droid Razr Random ShutDowns!!!

I have a Droid Razr XT912 which i have SafeStraped and installed CM 10.2.1. I have a problem where the device just powers down as if i did a hard reboot (volume key down + power button), when it happens, i can see the white line that appears when u do the hard reset. When it happens it stays off. I have to manually turn it back on. When turning on, it gives me the Android is Upgrading screen, even tho i never wiped cache.
When it finally starts up, the battery takes a 40% dive or more, sometimes the battery stays the same way it was before the shutdown.
This has happened on lots of roms that i flashed (Both Lollipop and Kitkat Roms). A few weeks before it started the Random shutdowns, My battery normally took heavy dives (for example from 90% to 40% and so on).
This made me think it was a battery issue but with the Android Upgrading screen showing up after the shutdown even tho i never wiped cache makes me have doubts about the problem being the battery.
When the phone is being charged (Both USB and Wall charger) It doesnt shutdown on its own. But once the charger is disconnected, the random shutdown initializes.
The Phone is 10 months old.
Has anyone experienced this problem on their Razr?
Could it be a battery Problem or something else.

So I tried booting into safemode. But the phone shutdown within seconds after it finished booting up and after I disconnected the charger.
When I turned it back on, my battery percentage hadn't reduced.
I want to believe its a battery failure but with these behaviours, I am confused.

I suspect battery failure also.
but it could be the rom, or other hardware failure.
I suggest
backing up the rom in safestrap's recovery
then restore stock rom if you have a nandroid backup
or install a different rom on a rom slot (1-4)

You may have bought the phone 10 months ago, but how long did it sit on a shelf?
The XT912 was Released 2011, November, Motorola likely stopped making them by the end of 2012, likely earlier than that.
So it's at least 2 1/2 years old.

I have actually restored a nandroid of my stock 4.1 on slot one and had the same problem. It also happened on cm12 and AOSB Lollipop.
In fact at a point in time, I wanted to flash the whole phone with the sbf files but I am scared the phone might go off during the flash.
The phone is only stable when its on charge. When on charge, I can play games, browse, listen to music but the phone won't go off but as soon as I disconnect the charger, any small thing triggers the shutdown. Like taking a picture, browsing on 3G.

After a shutdown, I was left with 4% and I connected my charger to charge it. After writing the above post I found out that the phone is showing a full battery.
Now look at how the battery dived to 4% and how it climbed to 100% in just a short time.
What do u make out of it??

Just to clarify, replacing the battery fixed the problem.

Question Pixel 6 bricked after flash Android 13 beta 4.1

Hello everyone!
Since I was tired of some bugs experienced on my Pixel 6 and after I discovered that the beta 4.1 was going to fix most of them, I decided to flash the image download from Google here.
I did this kind of thing a lot of time in the past, so I'm not new about flashing factory images, but something went wrong.
After having followed all the steps that Google recommend, the phone restarted and then got stuck on the white screen with the Google name/logo.
I waited several minutes but nothing happened, so I rebooted the phone (the only way was by pressing volume up and power button), re-flashed the beta but the same happened.
So I decided to try to flash the last stock android 12 image, but than, when the phone rebooted, I was alerted with a black screen and a message that says that the device is corrupt and to go to this site.
After continuing before the alert message, the situation was the same and the phone was stuck in the white screen with Google name/logo.
Now the battery is completely discharged and the phone doesn't charge, so I'm unable to do anything.
I'm 100% sure I flashed the correct images for Pixel 6 (oriole), the laptop is a MacBook Pro with an Anker cable I already used for the same thing and worked perfectly, the battery was at 70% when I did the first flash.
Any suggestion?
Thank you
I have never used any beta version of android, but one tool that i have found very useful is the android flash tool. https://flash.android.com/
In order to use this tool, I believe you at least need to get to recovery (hold power + vol down buttons).
Sorry for all the troubles you are having.

Thank you for your reply, I knew the tool also if I never used it.
The problem at the moment is that the device doesn't charge and turn on, otherwise I would also try the pixel repair site

Sorry to hear. I don't have any suggestions. It seems crazy that any amount of flashing issues would fully remove the ability to charge.

Have you tried to keep the charger plugged for 2-3 hours?
I had the same issue, but I had to force my pixel 6 to recovery mode.
Another thing I may suggest is in case you are not able to charge it:
Plug 65W charger (laptop charger) through usb-C port to pixel for 10 minutes.
You maybe discharged the battery completely, so a small boost my charge it.

I tried with the original charger for maybe one hour, then with an old 1 amp iphone charger but nothing happened. Now I try, like you suggest, with a 65W and maybe let it plugged for a couple of hours and see what happen.
What should I do? Just let the phone plugged in and wait the battery icon to appear on the screen or try to turn on the phone with power button/combo of buttons?
Thanks
I'm in the exact same boat, but on a raven. Any luck on recovering from this BS situation?

If anyone has information about this thread. Please guide me below. I am very confused about that.
Can open it and attempt to charge the battery manually, or order new battery which should have some charge and replace the old.
