Somethings happened to my s2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Its been working fine without any problem, then earlier on today I tried to make a call but it said 'not registered on network.' Even though network signal was full. I restarted phone but that didn't help. So I used whatsapp as network data was working to ask a few pple who I had texted earlier to ask if they have received my messages and all of them replied no. So I went into settings and mobile networks to manually set network but got a response saying 'unable to connect. Try later'
So I thought Vodafone was down, food a search on internet and twitter and found nothing. Tried Sim in another phone and it worked as I received texts straight away, also could make calls and send texts. Put it back in s2 and it wouldn't. I have tried a few other Sims but got the same response, data works but nothing else. It also keeps coming up with a message saying 'refreshing sim data'
I've only had stock roms on my phone and never rooted it. Only flashed stock lpd a while back and just now flashed stock lpf with full wipe, factory reset and deleted cache but that's not solved the issue either.
Has anyone else experienced this? The phone Is still under warranty as I've only had it since November, bought it Sim free. Would flashing stock roms through Odin voided my warranty?

How can that be? I bought phone new & sealed. I've never gave my imei number to anyone. Plus If it had been reported stolen/missing then it gets totally blocked, but the data network is working, I'm able to go on internet, Facebook, what's app, etc through mobile network data.

If you have never tampered with it like rooting etc take it to get looked at by Samsung or the purchase point.

Remove Sim, do a factory reset using dial code, after finishing the setup, shut down insert Sim and see if it works

Not true, my friend bought a sgs2 off an auction website & it worked fine for 2 days. Then it showed as being 'not registered on network' & he could not make calls or send sms but still had a data connection
Sure enough, after speaking to the network, the phone had been reported stolen & the imei blocked. Best to take it back to where you got it from.

I just rang voda, they go there's no block, black list on the phone and take it to Samsung

Ok I just went back to the shop where I bought it from, he's asked me to give phone back to him so he can investigate. Something seems abit fishy to me now and I didn't feel comfortable leaving it with him so told him I'll take it home to backup and then drop it off later. He noted my imei number tho

No network or sim is not ready

Hi guys I got a big problem, hope u can help.
I have this phone for a couple month already, when I was still running stock I discovered my cell phone would tell me I got no signal. Turning on air plane mode and then turning it off didn't help to get back signal. So I had to turn off the phone and turn it back on to get back my signal. Problem is I never know when it happens until my wife asks me y my cell phone is switched off. So I went ahead rooting it and I flashed a rom on it. But problem isn't gone. I still lose signal but on this rom it shows me full bars, only cannot make phone calls,SMS,and gprs. Tells me no network or no sim card is inserted. I always have to turn off and turn it back on. Now that it is rooted with whatever firmware I can't bring it to Samsung store to fix
please any suggestions?

Sounds more like a carrier problem. I'd ring them. Check your APN settings too.
Hi,
I have similar issues. Doesn't matter where I am and how good the network coverage is on all other phones around, my SGS2 keeps changing the coverage icon, from 1 to 4 "sticks" of indicator, or to no coverage state (crossed circle icon).
Sometimes the wireless is not working also, or juts gets very weak signal, though the signal is good on other devices near by.
When I try to turn data network (by pressing the power button and selecting data network activated from the pop up) sometimes it's not even showing the data network icon in the system bar (top of the screen), it's like being disabled data network or something.
I can answer a call and stay on conversation for no longer than a minute, then the signal goes dead and the phone just freezes, when I try to tap red button to end the call - no reaction, I have to turn the phone off.
When I try to make a call it just says "dialling" for ages with no result and eventually the phone freezes, so I have to turn it off and back on again.
Sometimes it turns off itself though the battery was showing almost full icon.
I went to O2 store, they gave me new SIM card, but it didn't help, so it's not a SIM issue.
I did a full (hard) reset - no help.
The guy from the O2 store told me, that I can root my phone, and I will not loose the warranty (I purchased the phone only one month ago), only thing I need to do is to revert it back to original state before bringing it (in case of hardware replacement).
But if it is not a software issue at all, so what's the point of rooting and having all the hustle, then reverting, etc... Can there be some hardware issues? I don't know: antenna, RAM, CPU, whatever???
I hope I've explained everything clearly enough. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
What firmware are you on have you tried to Upgrade via KIES .
Rooting will void warranty and will also increase the custom rom counter from zero . Yes they can be reset in most cases .
Rooting will not fix anything at all .
Network is first check are you getting problems at all locations .
When in the O2 store did they check the signal ???
Choice return to service centre
Flash a stock Samsung firmware via XDA possible to also try a different modem via XDA .
None of these will fix hardware problem .
Personally i would factory reset the phone and check all the network details are correct on the phone then return to service .

when you have this problem check if you have an imei (*#06#) if the response is empty then you have to reflash...
Hi all again,
after posting my previous post I phoned my friend during a lunch break at work. We had a quite long conversation and the quality was perfect. Then on my way home I turned on data network and enabled GPS (LOL), then launched navigation app and it took me home without any bugs (I know my way home though I did it only for phone testing).
Now back home, sitting in my room and my SGS2 starts to fool around again: unable to turn on data network, poor wireless signal (but it's good on my PC), the network coverage icon turns into "no signal" state and comes back to normal again all by itself.
I will definitely test my phone again tomorrow on my way to work and in the office. But it seems like there's something wrong with the place that I live. I've moved in recently and must admit, that all my problems with the phone started only then. And I didn't noticed any bugs while at work or anywhere down town.
Meanwhile is there any way to scan/check the area around my flat? Maybe there's something wrong with the in house router, or maybe to many routers in surrounding flats, or some other equipment/hardware things messing up, or just a mysterious house blocking O2 network and hacking the phone LOL??
The only strange thing is that I'm having not just a network/coverage/wireless issues, but the phone freezes, battery full-empty-full-empty status randomly, etc...
BTW, my details:
Model: GT-I9100 (not a I9100G)
PDA: XWKJ1
PHONE: XXKI4
CSC: O2UKJ1
Android version: 2.3.5
Updated via KIES about a month ago, was working good until now. KIES says that at the moment I have the latest firmware.

Video: Weird issue after updating to XXBLFB - make phone a pda

Samsung Galaxy I9300 unrooted, stock firmware
Update through OTA to I9300XXBLFB, couldn't make or receive calls anymore so did it again with KIES but it stays the same. No difference after factory reset.
In the video I dial 6000 which is my providers service number.
Both phone's loudspeaker as earspeaker work, tested it with test menu.
Phone dials, makes connection to the other side but there is no communication. Phone ends up resetting his cellular connection. My SIM card works perfect in another phone. I can send SMS and mobile data also works.

How can I see what modem I use?
Is it baseband version I9300XXLFB
Or build numder IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB
Or CSC I9300PHNBLF1
Added another video to verify
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo46OXWEcX0
That should not happen with stock upgrades, however it's a known issue if the modem is from a different revision than the ROM.
If you were rooted, I'd recommend trying modem DXLF3 which others have reported fixed their issue, but seening that you potentially want to remain on stock; bring it to your provider/seller. Something probably went wrong during the upgrade.

Same thing happened to me. A simple battery pull fixed the issue. Can't say it will work for you but it's worth a shot.

I did already several battery pulls, no succes.
I have only made 1 successful call with the new update, so it can come through. But I don't succeed in doing it again.
Also the damn app restore in KIES doesn't work, as all my accounts, wireless passwd etc. What good is a backup if it takes longer to figure out what it missed than just do it all manually. urgh I miss nandroid on my HTC
Flashed the old firmware back with odin... no change...
DXLF3 modem also did not fix it.

It was an hardware error. They replaced some parts and it is all new again.

Unfortunately it's a motherboard problem and requires motherboard replacement by Samsung. I had to send it back to the company who sold it to me in Germany, and they were able to take it to a Samsung repair center and ship it back. It cost me $73 to ship it from here in NYC and about 2 or 3 weeks total to send it and get it back (it got to Germany in 3 days). The company was nice and overnighted the phone to me as soon as they got it back from Samsung. Everything is working now.

Fixed!! Can't make a call, "Searching for service", "Mobile network not available"

Edit: Entered ##72786# into the keypad and it reprogrammed service. It's fixed.
I have a Sprint S3. It's currently running the Blazer 1.6 ROM. Wi-Fi works, but there is zero mobile signal or connection. Through ##786#, my MSID and mobile # are there. I have no idea what's going on.
Check out the screen shots. If someone knows what to do I'd be appreciative. I've scoured the internet for hours. I tried changing modems. Nothing has worked.
You can see there is absolutely no signal in the upper right corner.
Here you can see the signal strength is -120 dBm 99 asu.

I had the same problem recently after running Phantom's ROM and then restoring a stock ROM backup.
No matter what I flashed I couldn't get my signal back. I tried flashing Odin Factory Stock ROM,, flashed modems, flashed other ROM's....nothing worked.
I even dialed that re-activation number you mentioned in your post.
I contacted Sprint via chat I they could not figure out why my phone didn't have any kind of connection even after refreshing services on their part etc.
FINALLY, I took it to a Sprint Store and they fixed it. I just told them that I did not have a connection after doing a factory reset.
Unfortunately, begin an idiot, I just walked out of there and didn't ask them what the problem was and how they fixed it. I can still call them and check but screw it, I'm just happy my phone works.
I hope you can get your phone to work.
Good Luck!

I fixed it! How awesome is that!? So I read some more random forms looking for other hit's. Came across one that mentioned ##72786#, which didn't help the individual. However when I tried it, it worked. It's apparently a new Sprint reprogramming code that only resets service parameters. Phone automatically rebooted, now I'm golden. Even learned a few things along the way. This should be stickyed.
So if you have no signal, no service or no mobile network on Sprint, try ##72786# before flashing, resetting, restoring, crying or returning to the Sprint store.

Mobile Network Not Available...

So, all of a sudden my GS4 doesn't want to connect to VZW's network. I can't place any calls, send texts or receive any calls or texts. LTE is working fine. I've tried all of the different provisioning codes, but none of them go through because as soon as I tap the call button I just get the error message "Mobile network not available".
I've flashed different ROM's to see if that clears it up, rebooted, wiped, restored... everything. Nothing seems to be working.
Also, in About Phone>Status, the IMEI field is populated and has a bunch of numbers and stuff in it, so it appears normal. Everything appears normal. Here's what it says in About Phone>Status:
Network: Verizon Wireless
Mobile network type: LTE:14
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not Roaming
Mobile network state: Disconnected
And yes, before any asks, I am in a spot where I normally get coverage, so I know that's not the problem.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
UPDATE: Restored to a 3 day old backup and all is well again. Upon the first boot I still got the same error message when I tried to place a call so I then dialed *228 and got a little messaging saying I was now activated, and everything is working now. So yeah, I don't really know how I fixed it, but whatever as long as it's working.

Same issue, however i can send and recieve texts, just no in or out calls. Im not sure if my issue was due to me trying to simunlock but that when it started right after. I did make a backup with the EFS using TWRP and was thinking of restoring that, but do you think that just doing the *228 will do the trick? or restore the backup to the prior EFS and do the *228. Kinda concerned that someone said here that doing the 288 call can mess up the sim, why is that excactly?
Did u use twrp or cwm to restore, if twrp, did u do a full wipe first? And can u describe the steps done? I have the same issue and did the restore but I'm still having this issue. I did not do a full wipe cause I thought twrp did this automatically. But also if a full wipe it's done, does this mean we need to reflash the Rom and then the backup? Looking back on my s2, I remember the fone not booting due to missing this step but that was w cwm. Let me know if u would, thanks

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S5 losing network connectivity

My wife and I both have brand new Galaxy S5s, and we both intermittently experience this problem. One of us will send a text message to the other, the text will show as being sent, but the other person doesn't receive it. If the person set to receive the message reboots their phone, the message comes through (as well as any other "pending" messages), and normal phone use continues for a few days until this issue returns. Rebooting seems to always fix the issue temporarily.
This of course is not limited to just communication between our phones, but I was using that as an example. Often times, I'll reboot my phone, and realize I have 3 new text messages, and 2 voicemails from yesterday. Very frustrating.
Phone calls are also affected. When these symptoms are present, phone calls cannot be placed or received until the phone is rebooted. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail.
The worst part of it is, there is no easy way to tell our phones are not connected to the network. The reception status shows good connectivity. Most of the time we're connected to wifi, so email and browsing the internet still work.
I'm just wondering if other people are experiencing this, or have any suggestions of some things we can try. Thanks for the help.

From what I know T-Mobile doesn't care if your phone is rooted because you're not doing any warranty service. If that was the case they will probably tell you that its voided.. I have seen a few that root their own phones at their job so I doubt it'll be a problem. But I guess every T-Mobile store isn't the same..

Yes this is the exact problem I had with last GS5. Tmobile replaced it and I still have this problem with the new GS5. The tried to tell me it was just how the old GS5 settings were set. They had me do Factory reset many times, it never helped. Now with the replacement GS5 the exact same problem. Like you everything looks great on the display. I would just get calls on my home line wanting to know why I never answer my mobile phone. The only thing that helps me is a restart but it is only temporary. Do you know if they have released a fix for this problem?

Since upgrading the latest firmware, we have not experienced the problems again. We've been having good service since then. I would definitely suggest you get the latest firmware.

From what I know T-Mobile doesn't care if your phone is rooted because you're not doing any warranty service. If that was the case they will probably tell you that its voided.. I have seen a few that root their own phones at their job so I doubt it'll be a problem. But I guess every T-Mobile store isn't the same..

The only thing it seems the tmobile employees know how to do is a factory reset .. That is their solution for about everything . Like the other guy said they dont handle warranty . That is for your samsung warranty when knox is tripped . If you have handset protection nothing voids it from what i have seen . I think tmobile would rather replace a rooted phone than one with a cracked screen .

If you put that modem together can you link me it ? Could come in handy in the future. Thanks
I notice the problem occurs when switching to lte from 4 auto mode. Seems lte is giving these problems. Switch to wcdma only mode and the problem will be gone. No lte tho... I will update to latest fw and see if it solves my problem

Samsung S5 network connectivity loss
I have a brand new S5 as well and experience exactly the same problems described, and my friends also have Samsung phones and tablets that give the same network connectivity problem.
