My wife and I both have brand new Galaxy S5s, and we both intermittently experience this problem. One of us will send a text message to the other, the text will show as being sent, but the other person doesn't receive it. If the person set to receive the message reboots their phone, the message comes through (as well as any other "pending" messages), and normal phone use continues for a few days until this issue returns. Rebooting seems to always fix the issue temporarily.
This of course is not limited to just communication between our phones, but I was using that as an example. Often times, I'll reboot my phone, and realize I have 3 new text messages, and 2 voicemails from yesterday. Very frustrating.
Phone calls are also affected. When these symptoms are present, phone calls cannot be placed or received until the phone is rebooted. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail.
The worst part of it is, there is no easy way to tell our phones are not connected to the network. The reception status shows good connectivity. Most of the time we're connected to wifi, so email and browsing the internet still work.
I'm just wondering if other people are experiencing this, or have any suggestions of some things we can try. Thanks for the help.

Samsung just rolled out a new update for T-Mobile S5 variant. This update should fix the issues you're having. Here is the link to it: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29848
I definitely am..same problem. I am using an unlocked t mobile s5 on att so I think I'm going to put together a flash able att modem and flash it

Well, that was very timely. I'm glad they released a fix the same day I decided to ask for help. I appreciate the link, and I'll install it and see how it works out. Cheers.
The update killed a lot of people's data speeds. I made a ticket with t-mobile techs. I suggest anyone else with bad data speeds after the new update do the same.

Yep. Mine is down to 1 now. I have several tickets already open with them. This phone has been nothing but trouble.
I had the same issue. went to the T-Mobile store and they told me it was a problem with the isis sim card. They replaced it with a non isis sim and all is good now.

From what I know T-Mobile doesn't care if your phone is rooted because you're not doing any warranty service. If that was the case they will probably tell you that its voided.. I have seen a few that root their own phones at their job so I doubt it'll be a problem. But I guess every T-Mobile store isn't the same..

Yes this is the exact problem I had with last GS5. Tmobile replaced it and I still have this problem with the new GS5. The tried to tell me it was just how the old GS5 settings were set. They had me do Factory reset many times, it never helped. Now with the replacement GS5 the exact same problem. Like you everything looks great on the display. I would just get calls on my home line wanting to know why I never answer my mobile phone. The only thing that helps me is a restart but it is only temporary. Do you know if they have released a fix for this problem?

The only thing it seems the tmobile employees know how to do is a factory reset .. That is their solution for about everything . Like the other guy said they dont handle warranty . That is for your samsung warranty when knox is tripped . If you have handset protection nothing voids it from what i have seen . I think tmobile would rather replace a rooted phone than one with a cracked screen .

For some reason my rooted stock S2 (from Bell unlocked using on Rogers) can't answer calls. I can call out without any problems but if someone is calling me, it'll hang up on them as soon as I answer. They then get a busy signal.
Any ideas?

Can't find phone.apk.... I deleted the cache of dialer.apk and the problem still remains. I also completely turned off call blocking and everything.
When I answer a call, it immediately disconnects.
This is interesting to hear. My wife and i are both on rogers. She has a rooted and rommed captivate and i have a rooted and rommed nexus s. We are both having the same issues for that last couple days. Weird stuff. Never happened before.
I put my SIM card into my wife's S2 (also stock and rooted) and it works properly. Accepts incoming calls. So it must be something with my device specifically and not network related. Strange... I've removed any possible suspect apps to no avail so far. Perhaps a core app update is the culprit.
Ya I am confused lol. I have been on the same rom for a few weeks now. Just started happening to both of us all of a sudden. Not sure if it is a certain app that we both have installed and its screwing up our phones? Just not sure at all.

Please let me know if you find a solution. I am trying a few things but no luck
I've been having the same issue with incoming calls all weekend, in my case I was able to rule out hardware by swapping SIMs with another Rogers phone.
On the phone a few times with Rogers Tec Support and I was told this was an issue on their end, from what I'm told it's related to the Rogers One Number service which I did register for a couple of months back. Although I don't use the RON service anymore it's still active on my account.
I just had Tec Support remove it from my account and am just now getting my incoming calls again.

This may be it. I recently signed up for Rogers One Number but never use it. That's the difference me and the wife's S2. She's not registered for One Number. Hmmmm..... But it's weird that my SIM accepts incoming calls on her device though.

I have been searching for 3 days trying to find the problem. I have an AT&T Galaxy s 2 that I rooted using the Zedomax root through ODIN. I unlocked it to use for my T-mobile service. Everything was working fine for months. Then one day I woke up to use my phone and there was a circle with a cross through it. I am not able to call out or even get a data connection. So I tried flashing back to stock no root and same thing. I put a AT&T sim in and it was the same thing. Flashed back to root several times and I still get the same thing. I checked to see if my radio was on and it was fine. Did Either Service just block the phone? I don't get it. When I leave my house I get bars but no connection on both data or service. Yet I get all kind of texts . So why wont it let me call out or even use my browser if i go down the street and it says it has service and is getting texts? I swapped phones and works perfect so I know it can't be my SIM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Don't. Use. Zedomax.

DId u try calling T-mobile? or AT&T about the issue?
Well I'm on a "no contract plan" and buy my phones cash. So no warranty. So Zedomax is bad?
Maybe flash a radio to it. I've noticed that I lose service with some roms occasionally. But when I do, I just flash a radio and it seems to fix it.
Sounds like a bad APN setting to me.

Very bad. Its well known to cause many problems on peoples phones. They usually come here after messing up their phone from his website which is no bueno and annoying. Stick with xda from now on, it won't steer u wrong

Call your service provider and verify your APN settings are correct.
From my own limited knowledge. A circle with line means no signal. Bars without a connection type icon means a signal but no service.
As far as useing the zedomax rooting method, as per the OP if it was running fine for monrhs, that clearly isn't the issue.

I'll try flashing a radio and see if that works. .
i have checked all my APN settings and everything seems ok to me. I have hard reset multiple times. My data packet shows on. I also checked my settings to see if my radio is on and it says yes. My Iemi number shows. I'm so confused what could be wrong. It won't work with both ATT or T-mobile. Should work no matter what considering this is an ATT phone.
I've been using my Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII for the past few days and three times I've been using the data connection and all of a sudden, it would lose data...
In the notification bar, it would flash "No SIM Card" and then would begin searching for service. It would take about 30 seconds to a minute to regain full service.
Is anyone else getting this issue?

Hi guys, i'm having the exact same issue! While I'm at my house (3G area, not 4G) when I go to hit talk it immediately drops from 3 signals to the no signal symbol, then I get the No SIM card message too. After a few seconds it'll bounce back and show full signal again. I troubleshooted over the phone with techsupport last night and they recommended to swap out the SIM card or the phone. Went to the local store this morning for a SIM swap and it was better but not 100% fixed while I was at work (10miles from home). Stopped at the store again after work and after some arguing convinced them to replacement (phone would not act up at the store in the 4G area at all, was rock solid). Just got home and again with the new phone and a 3rd SIM card its doing it. I'm not sure what to think now. There were 2 other people in the store complaining of the same issue when I was there, all galaxy s3s. Wondering if its a tower issue in the area (Poughkeepsie, NY area) or software problem. Seems hard to believe its a network issue if the phone itself thinks there's no SIM card in it (and previous phones in the same area worked fine). Maybe some kind of software / firmware issue?
I'm really bummed out. My mom and sister just got the same phone and no problems in Chicago and Detroit areas. What areas are you having issues in? Hopefully we can get more info going, not many postings about this on the web yet....

Ok so I finally fixed my charging issues with a new charger port, exact same piece as the last one, but now I'm not receiving texts or calls.
I have never rooted this phone, I have only updated it to 4.1.2, and I did a clear cache and factory reset just to make sure it wasn't a buggy app or anything. But still I get no texts or calls, and that's a major issue. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, I made sure every connection on the inside was connected. Someone please help, I can't deal with a phone giving me more issues.

I'd rather not have to deal with AT&T, their customer service has always been a pain for me to use. The network works just fine using my older phone, which is only using 3G, and it works fine on my parents' phones and they also use the Note but they've never had issues with the charge port or the network like I have. Is it just something with the new pcb that has the charge port?
Modem
Try finding the stock modem for your device and flashing it from twrp, I had a bit of a signal issue on mine earlier and that fixed it
If you are using a sim card from another phone, you will need to get a 4G sim card from at&t. Or you can deal with customer service and ask them to reprovision your sim card.

It is the usb charge port that you replaced causing the problems. Went through 3 different ones to get one that worked. Double check that you got the grey wire connected properly also. Look for version 3 parts.
Hello
My wife's T-Mobile S9+ continues to have missed calls. She'll return to her desk and see a voicemail notification without the phone having rung. Since she uses it for work, it's quite frustrating.
I recently replaced the Simple Mobile sim card as a precaution.
What can I try or test?
I never have had that issue with this phone yet.. But when at home, call her phone maybe a dozen times to see what happens.. I'm willing to bet it is not the phone, but a network issue.. I have ran into this same issue, with other phones, that I use on the Sprint network.
I have the issue on cricket a lot at my house. I do I bet it's a network issue.
I'd like to think that, but my phone, also on Simple Mobile, gets all calls - real, scams, surveys, the major, etc
