Hi guys, I have a big request.
First I'm sorry for my english but I'm only 16.
I bought a cheap I9100, it was cheap because it can't boot, it always stops in Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 logo and never run system.
I search and found on xda forum this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771 but I've got problem. Previous owner of this phone say me that he gave his colleague phone to install new fiirmware and he broke it during install new firmware. He don't know exactly which FW he wanted to install on his phone, earlier he had GB so I think he want to install ICS but I'm not sure. In this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771 is say that I have to use appropriate system files GB or ICS. But I don't know which one I must use because I don't know which one FW (GB or ICS) colleague want to install and i don't want to brick this phone. My question is: Is there any way to check which firmware was install the last on this phone and which files of this guide I have to use ?
Thank you very much for your help !!
Ok first of all u need a USB JIG... Order it from ebay or just check out in local shops.. Thr s only one possibility that he might hav flashed I9100G fW... Or may be some other phone's fw. So U told while booting its stuck at Samsung LOGO? Then it must be samsung fw... Try getting the phone into download mode if not possible u use USB JIG... Then flash thru ODIN... Download the fw from samfirmware.com
Yes, but which one firmware I should flash ? GB or ICS ? In this guide is say that if I will try restore my ICS I9100 with GB files I can brick it, and I don't know which one firmware tried install previous ovner (GB or ICS)
Try Flashing lightening rom from odin.

Also do a full wipe from recovery
vol up+home+power
@OP post questions in Q/A section from next time!
I'll try this in wednesday and write here if it help or not so please don't close this thread. Thank you
Hi, every your solution doesen't work, I can go into download mode but after flash in odin it still hang up on Samsung galaxy s2 i9100 logo ;/
So you've flashed a rom as suggested & you have bootloop ? Boot into recovery mode (volume up/home/power buttons) & do a data wipe/factory reset.
Yes. I can't get into recovery, when I press and hold Vol.up + home + power it turn on and then shut down and again turn on and shut down
Also I haven't a .pit file for ICS version
Keep pressing the buttons, it well go into recovery, sometimes after you See i9100 three times come and go
By the way, what I just read it is not brick.
Its boot looping
Recovery is available in stock ICS ? because 5 mins ago i flashed official LP8 samsung firmware. Am I have to install something special to get recovery or it should work with stock firmware ?
Stock firmware = stock recovery.
Doesen't work I can't get into recovery and no matter which rom I install it stop booting on Samsung galaxy sII logo
I vatched on youtube updating S2 to ICS via ODIN and when the phone boot after updating it skows android, and my phone never show it only stuck on I9100 logo
Now when I press and hold Wol up + home + power it shows empty battery with circle
I still think you have zero issues....
Remove battery
Re insert battery
Plug in the charger
Let battery go close to half
Remove charger
Remove battery
Re insert battery
Keep pressing home + vol up + power until you see green Android
After install custom kernel green android shows on a moment and dissapera, now I have empty battery icon ;/
When I plug into charger it shows empty battery with white circle

Recharge your battery. Go to Samfirmware.com and if you haven't already done so, download your latest ICS for your phone.
The Pit.file is a standard file for the I9100 and works from gingerbread to ICS.
Yor can download that from my Dropbox.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34590193/Flashprogram Samsung I9100 + Pit.rar
Once your battery has fully charged, if you can get into recovery then do so.
data/factory reset... Advanced.. wipe dalvik cache.... mounts & storage format system.
Turn off phone. remove battery 15 sec. insert battery and boot into download mode.
connect the usb lead to phone and PC. run Odin as Administer.
when odin displays yellow then your ready to go.
Put the pit file in and the firmware in and press start.
If you cant get into recovery then go staight to Odin.

Hi Everyone,
Need help with my I9100 which doesn't boot. I got this phone yesterday and was using it fine. Today i installed Kies and it prompted to upgrade firmware. I researched and found that it had improvements in battery life and decided to go for it. It downloaded the firmware and everything went fine until it prompted saying firmware upgrade failed and asked me to do firmware emergency recovery.
I googled to see more info regarding this error and couldnt get much information. Decided to go ahead with recovery as instructed. Again i got error " Firmware emergency recovery stopped due to GT-I9199 error". If the problem persistes please contact samsung service center.
Please suggest if this is recoverable error and any links to proceed and have a working phone.
Currently when i power on, i get a logo of phone connected to PC with yellow bang in middle. Any pointers much appreciated....
Thanks.
Don't worry, I think you can fix this yourself using ODIN. I mean, flash a custom rom through Download mode. (Turn the phone off, hold Volume Down + Home + Power for 4 seconds)
In this mode you can flash any kind of rom without doing your phone any harm. Just go to the Rom Development forum and choose your rom. I suggest Lightning Rom, because it uses ODIN, and has a very well-explained tutorial.
You can also flash a stock rom, you can get it from the Stock Rom thread, and flash that through ODIN.
Or get it fixed by Samsung and wait two weeks. (where they use exactly the same program, ODIN, to reflash the stock rom)
Look here
And here
And finally here
If all that doesn't work, take it back to samsung.
Also, KIES is a PoS, use Odin in future
Yep, KIES may look all official and reliable, but it actually seems to brick some SGS2's.
Thanks for the info's. Will try them and update soon.
No luck. I tried multiple times to update ROM using ODIN in download mode. Everytime it says NAND write operation failed and comes out. I am searching to see if any other option left before i take it back to samsung
Don't forget to try it with a different computer. Sometimes it's not the phone, it's the PC or the USB port.
Also, you can try flashing with Heimdall instead of Odin.
First of all;
Yellow triangle means you are running custom kernel/rom.
Press home+volume down and then power, to get into download mode , on your phone. If that works, take battery out, to stop it.
Go to:
Samfirmware.com
Download firmware from there. It is a rar file, I think. Open rar file to see what is in. 5 files? The biggest file has all of the other files in it.
Install via Odin. Select pda in Odin and select the biggest file from the rar.
Put your phone into download mode, connect usb and run Odin.
Adrian.
SGS2 I9100
Lite'nin rom 3.2
Make sure that all kies processes are closed or odin will fail.

You can buy a usb jig, specially designed to put you phone into download mode. Search for it on ebay. Take the battery out, plug in usb jig, replace battery and it should boot into download mode. If it does not, then the phone is dead.

Hello everyone,
I'll start explaining very quickly. this morning, the home button suddenly dead. it NOT works at all. an it's an hardware problem, because I can't either access recovery mode. and that's the point. I was using cyanogenmod 9 with ICS, and when I flashed the samsung STOCK rom with ODIN, I get bootlops. I tried with the ICS samsung stock and the GB one, same thing. I saw the guide in the other section of the forum, BUT they say that I have to do a full wipe in recovery... well, I can't, my home button is dead. I'm trying to do this because the service center will "test" the home button with the phone turned on, but if I get bootlops... well, He will suspect that there is something wrong (the unofficial roms, etc...) any idea to correctly flash a samsung stock rom with odin without getting bootlops? thank you so much :crying:
I have the same problem (my home button died). However I still can boot the phone. I think what I am going to do is order the JIG to boot into download mode and delete the number of custom flashes and then install the Stock ICS and send it to Samsung. Maybe you can do the same.
You can try soft reboot to cwm. But download mode? I don't remember if any kernel had option to boot directly to download mode. Maybe old Glitch have this. Then you will be able to flash stock via odin.
But if there are bootloops than only jig is an option.

Today I tried to root my s3 i9305 with odin. After I hit Start it stayed stuck like 20 minutes, I pulled the cable out and since than I can't get the phone to start. I even entered recovery mode and wiped everything out, still the phone won't start. "Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!!" If I remove the battery (can't shut it off other ways) and plug it in to charge, the same screen appears, doesn't even show the battery percentage. Please help!

You've mentioned that you can enter the recovery- did you flash a custom one, or still in sotck?
Second- if you can enter recovery, is it possible for you to re-enter download mode? you can flash a stock rom from there...
Did you flash the right file? You are posting in the i9300 forum, anything here can brick your phone.

Can you please give me a stock 4.1.2? Everywhere I look the file is on hotfile..
Ok, so today I flashed my phone with 4.3 (I9305XXUEML5_I9305EVRGML3_EVR.zip), when it booted I had no signal and IMEI was null. Fixed that with Param_Bin_I9305.zip . Works fine, but I have the same battery problem like everybody else, from 100% to 15% in a few hours. Can someone please give me a download link with stock 4.1.2 ? Don't want any custom roms. Thanks
You are still in the wrong forum.
Stock are saqmsung-updates and sammobile and a few others via Google .
Older roms that where on the deceased hotfile are no longer readily available as in many cases they where never reloaded .

try rooting the phone without odin, using the toolkit provided by the dev mskip.
( this would work for your i9305)
heres the link to it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1979290
go for it.

Hello xda, first post n00b here,
I recently got my hands on a SIII (lot better then my old htc one V), and I wanted to install cyanogenmod on it. So I installed the i9300 recovery rom on it and for a short while it seemed to work, but when I tryed to sideload cyanogenmod something went wrong. Everytime I rebooted I got thrown into the downloading, do not power off target!!-screen.
I quickly found my mistake, I did not have an i9300 I had an i9305. With some help from the lovely people at #cyanogenmod (shout out to you PsychoI3ob) I figured out I had to flash the stock rom. I could not figure out how to do this with heimdall, so I downloaded Odin. With Odin, everything went right untill it was somewhere around 99%. The write failed. Now the only thing I see when I but the batteries in my phone is: Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
So now I would like to know: Did my phone just become a paperweight or is there still anything I can do?
Thanks a lot for reading trough!
If you can get back into download mode by shutting down your phone, and then boot while holding the volume down, home button and power button simultaneously you could try reflashing stock ROM through Odin.
If the phone turns on as soon as you put the battery in then you will have to take the battery back out, and then whilst pressing Vol Down and Home button put the battery in (I've had the same issue on a Galaxy Ace II with the phone booting as soon as the battery was put in, but managed to get back into download mode and reflash by doing as I described)
If you manage to successfully reflash, boot into recovery (turn off, then hold Vol Up, Home and Power) and do a factory reset from there just for good measure.
Good luck :good:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue..." It is also download mode. You can use Odin to flash while this screen has been displayed or launch Kies and restore your original firmware by firmware initialization option from tools menu.
Write model name GT-I9305 and your phone serial number (under battery). Kies will check what version of firmware was originally pre-installed on that device. Will download and flash it automatically. After that you can upgrade to newest stock. Write custom recovery via Odin, flash custom rom from CWM.

Try to uninstall your usb drivers , the go here at the end of the first post (OP - this is Convert kernel zip to tar tool, but no need to do any conversion), download usb drivers and odin. At post #4 you have pre made kernels. Flash any kernel you want DorimanX or Gustavo in AP or PDA box and make sure re-partition NOT ticked. After a successful flash you phone will boot and stays at the boot. take off battery and insert again , power up with power on + home + vol up to enter recovery and format ONLY these partition /data& cache - dalvik cache, system, preload. Once in recovery, your will be able to mount usb or mtp device to recover your files and try flashing a custom rom!

hey dude i got stuck on zimage in odin, the problem is mostly the flashing part i am using kk-kernel-04-02-CWM-for ODIN.tar
(Gustavo Kernel)
It shouldn't stuck, try other kernels, doesn't matter that they are kk or lp. try other usb port, even another pc!
Edit: I forgot , try another cable! Flashing via usb cable there no room for error, so no faulty usb cable ports and corrupted drivers!

Assuming it helps, you will end up with a working stock device.....
You need to persevere with every step as many times as is necessary......

Just beware, you *could* end up paying more for a repair than the cost of a working secondhand S2....
