Just wondering if anyone tried out the VoIP function in Gingerbread on the custom rom. Please let me know if there are any issues using VoIP over 3G data.
Thx.
I tried native VoIP on Gingerbread. On 3G/HSDPA and wifi.
I can tell it works much better on wifi then 3g. And you should check with your operator if you're able to use VoIP on 3G.
Problem I found in the X10 is an echo on the other side which only can be fixed by compiling better sound drivers. The SE driver is buggy and doens't work very well.
Hey all, so my question is that I flashed MIUI coming from CM7 and 3g does not work,I see the 3g icon but using browser and and xda app just loads then says needs to be connected to a network. I asked this cause seems like no one else has the same problem on MIUI(Everyone seems to be on verizon network). I have a verizon fascinate on a none verizon network. CM7's 3g works fine just slower and all touchwiz base roms data works flawlessly(1000kbps to 2500kbps). I cant say its the network cause I'll flash back and forth and it always gives me the same results, touchwiz base roms(Stock,ComRom and EF 3.X)having the fastest network speed. Is it possible that the AOSP rom's network connection is only optimized for VzW. Can anyone confirm this?Sorry for the long post.
Tried different basebands (ED01,ED05,EC09) still the same result

Is this a fix for data conking out for a lot of the CM7 users? Or am I in left field?
I am on Cl3anTh3ory and for the life of me I can't get it to work.
I have 3.0 Wifi Tether cooked in. It works, green Wifi icon on the app drawer. What is the problem you're having?
Sent from my BURNTH3ORYX using XDA App
I see the yellow icon and as soon as someone is connected it seems like the connection disappears
If your rom doesnt have wifi tether, barnicle works great to.
Sent from my TBolt using my f***king thumbs...
It does but the connection drops out for some reason.
Im running the newest gb stock leak & rooted. All works fine...
I myself was on CM7, and am Installing Liquid Gingersense 1.6 to see if it works. If not I'll do like JRocker and go with the leaked one from HTC. I use and pay for this feature for unlimited. Not having it work is killing me. It worked fine on a prior version of CM7, but then the same day VZW announced they would start stonewalling users who were rooted tether's without the plan, I signed up for the plan and it still didn't help.
works on ginger theory
Liquid Gingersense worked great. Downloaded several GB's today. No data problems like CM7 which would require reboots.

I'm using liquid gingersense too, but everytime I try to turn on the wifi hotspot, I get a force close, other apps don't work either, tried the Barnacle, and it gave errors when I tried to enable. It's like the hotspot just isn't there, even though there are menue options for it...
Anyone get bluetooth tethering to work on 4.2.1? Before I was using FLAPJAXX's ICS ROM and I had bluetooth tethering there. I'm now on PTMR3's Padawan ROM. I'm wondering if FLAPJAXX added it special to his ROM or if it was there in ICS and AT&T removed it from 4.2.1.
I use bluetooth tethering in a Ford Explorer with MyFord Touch. The Explorer then becomes a WiFi hotspot this way. You might be asking, why not just use the WiFi hotspot on my Note. Well when we travel I use Google Maps a lot and it works better with WiFi on and I can't have WiFi on if it's being used as a hotspot.
Thanks!

Android made a change in version 4.1.2 that allows carriers like at&t to tell the difference between regular data, and tethered data. So if you don't have the tethering plan you won't be able to tether.
However some devs have bypassed this in custom roms. There's also apps available that re-enable the tethering feature. You'll have to either find a rom, or an app to get your tether back. I use an app called "power toggles" to add a tether on/off widget.
