Totally forgot to try out the NFC at Jack on Sunday, or dinner could've been on Google! dang...
So now I'm checking around in the search app, and it turns out The Microsoft Store accepts paypass. Hehe, Wish I had an excuse to go in and buy something with my NFC Android Phone. That would be so epically awesome. "Your phones can't do that?"

When you get the message saying "check with clerk to make sure transaction has processed" it will also say "or tap again to complete". Just tap the phone to the pay pass again and it will say "sent" for the second time and then the transaction will be complete.

The directions in the wallet are very vague.

If you have a pin lock then yes it'll ask you to type it in. My steps I took yesterday were, turn on screen, scan, it opens app then says scan again to send. Scan again, all done. Or receive that damn message like I also did and just scan again. All done.

I think some stores that have the paypass machine, don't actually have the machine hooked up to work with it.
If it does nothing at all, I'd imagine thats the case. It wasn't setup on their end.

That is what I was told when I called CS, I was just shocked that it was opened. Didn't activate just yet they are going to call back tomorrow to confirm that is the case. I don't want to activate a phone that has been tampered with.
Seals broken, battery shipped inside the compartment with plastic around it preventing contact. Entire phone was wrapped in the protective plastic. Everything was in with the phone, so I didn't think anything of it.
My guess is that they popped the box to put the info in for hands-free activation. Lotta good that did anyway cuz I had to call Sprint with my MEID so they activate it.
Mine came like that too but didn't really bother cos everything was inside lol and its working
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Well I feel a little better knowing that it wasn't just me. Sounds like an activation deal but I will post an update tomorrow incase anyone is wondering like myself. You would think that this message would be relayed to CS so they would know that it is normal lol

Were the seals perforated? They looked as if they were, I also thought maybe that they may have split during shipping.

The tabs being broken is because of shipping. None of the 3Ds were activated or opened before shipping that is up to you when ordering online, part of why there isn't a activation charge. UPS just handles packages sooooo gentle.
There is a reason a phone in a box needs to be in another bigger box with padding that costs more to ship.
The UPS guy opened it and was play with your phones on the trip to deliver it.

I think I remember something about sprint family tracker. You could check that out, but I think your gps has to have been on.
Depending on how smart the person that picked it up is, you may be able to install a tracking app from the Market from your computer and find it(as long as they haven't logged out of your account). You may be surprised. I would retrace my steps and see if anyone turned it in. Since it is a Saturday night I would assume that most likely you left it at a restaurant or bar. I would go back to each one of them(once they open) and see if someone turned it in. If not, you will have to report it stolen and get a new one through TEP if you have it. I always, ALWAYS carry TEP on my phones. It's a lot easier to come up with $100 deductible then to come up with $600 to buy one outright.
Ok. I'm sober now drinking my coffee.
I had a beer pong table set out on my lawn (I own a lot of land and am going to be combing it today) but I know its not there. I went back to the store (piss drunk) and asked the two girls if they've seen it and nada ****ING thing (its not in either of the two vehicles either)
I've called and texted my phone a million times (I have to slow down or my battery will die). I do have the $100 dollar insurance but am bummed out about the new hboot.
What's the name of the app that tracks it and how do I install it to my phone from either my tabs or PC?
Thanks guys.

The name of the app is Plan B. It's by the same company as Lookout.
Here's what it says on their website: "Lookout has an app called Plan B which can locate your phone after you've lost it. The phone needs to be powered on and have a network and data connection. Just go to the online Android Market (http://market.android.com), log into your Android Market account, and install the app to your missing phone. If you are able to install the app and it runs, you will begin to get emails to the Gmail account that you have registered with the Android market with location information."
I also read after you install it, you have to send a text that says "locate." I've even read where someone didn't start getting the emails til the next day. The phone had died, but then the person who had it recharged it!
Oh, yeah. After you install the app to your phone, install Lookout to your tablet, just in case. Not only can you do the locate thing, but Lookout also examines any app you download for malware.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

You can log into the market from your computer and have it install plan b on your phone remotely . The phone of course has to be on and your gmail account still linked on the phone. Plan b is for when you have already lost your phone and didn't have a tracking app installed. I just installed the sprint tep app that does the same thing as lookout for for free(I'm guessing you need to have tep for it to work?) That won't help now(plan b is your best shot) but it will help in the future if you ever misplace your phone

4. S.IP DUNN User name
on the incredible for this step you enter [email protected]
on the LTE phones it should be (as it's duplicated above as your ppp user id
[email protected] OR would we stull use [email protected] and have access to this on 3G only?
Would this get us the bypass we need, or is this verification handled onboard with the SIM card?

It was a promotional thing, but seems to have stuck to some accounts. One of my accounts still has it, not sure why. I pay for the unlimited hotspot as I am an employee, and I am not much for stealing, but not the line I am speaking of. Not sure what the rhyme or reason is, probably would remove it when changing devices so if you stick with devices that use regular 4G sim cards and not micro sims I would bet it will stick around until its audited off.
that's interesting that the promotion stuck to some accounts . I don't really think of it like stealing I suppose except in the sense that I'm taking advantage of an app Verizon included to be paid for *shrug*. Since I use an app like PDAnet or something else anyways it's not THAT big of a deal. It's just a lot easier to turn on tether and sit down at my computer, or ANY computer. rather than download an app on every pc I would use it on and physically plug in the phone everytime.. not that it would last more than an hour tethered without being plugged up or anything.
anyhow, so as of this point we're at VZ's whim for tethering?

Assuming the battery is still alive -- this (along with the standard have you tried calling it) is a brilliant plan.
My guess however is that it's a two year old. It's stuffed somewhere in the house (check the toy box because kids put everything BUT the toys in there).
Down the drain? It's not like you lost it outside

That's pretty funny. Hope you find it. I like the install an app from the web store option to find it
My cat occasionally sits directly on top of my phone when alarms go off. It's surprisingly effective at muffling the sound. I've set my phone down on a bed and then forgot about it and couldn't hear it when calling to find it, until I threw the cat off. She hates phones.

It's surprising the amount of places a small kid can hide things. I know they don't seem to be smart enough.. but when you find your keys jammed half-way into the floor vent in their room, you have to wonder.
I'm sure I believe this story but...
Tell her to call daddy and pick up your house phone. She'll go get yours to call you.
This reminds me of a similar experience. In my case the remote of the blu-ray player was missing. We founded it after a year, our son have put in our floor-standing tower woofer firing port. I remember shaking the damn thing, but since it has insulation in it i could not hear any rattling. One day i lifted the speaker for whatever reason and the remote fell off of the woofer port.
I know it is not helpful, but felt the need to share the story ... I guess you should look at some unusual places ...
I got my yesterday. It was real late, so I opened up just to check if it was not broken etc.....
Then something occurred to me, my nexus 10 per-configured. At no time did I go through the initial setup as I would do for a new phone or other tablets. This out of the box tablet, unused by me, had all my emails synced, all my apps installed, and it even connected to my home wifi network without ever asking for the wep key ?
Is this normal ? Cause its very very creepy.
When you ordered it you had the option to link it to your account

It knew you were going to be its owner all along... ;D

This. I remember such an option when I bought my Nexus 7; although I don't think all my apps were on it, but I could be wrong.
I had the option checked (I thought I did anyways) and I had to set mine up.

Opps,
I feel dumb. I was in such hurry to purchase, I didn't even notice that option, LOL
Still, it was creepy .

I just realized that I too didn't even notice this option, and I just ordered my Nexus 10 from Play Store about an hour ago lol. Not sure if the option was ticked or not exactly, or if it was even there.

It defaults to checked I believe.
I had the option checked and my account wasn't linked.
which is fine because that's what I actually wanted.
Just think, that when they ship them preconfigured (which is hard to believe because that would mean someone has to unpack them and upload all the stuff) and the devices get stolen or "kidnapped" these people would get access to your google account
Google already knows everything about you... doesn't matter what you tick.
Yeah I've found lots of things creepy but also. I think knowing all my wifi passwords was pretty creepy cause those aren't something you really get to choose if Google saves... Google now seems to be affected by what I do on my android phone such as recent navigation paths show up as new cards on tablet.

I was a little disappointed that although I selected the option, mine hadnt been set up.
Wasn't disappointed long though cause I just unlocked and rooted it, which factory reset anyway.

It doesn't come pre-configured nor they unpack them and upload all the stuff. At the time of shipping the Serial Number is linked to your account you purchase from. Turning it on, it reads your Serial Number and configures it for your account.

I'm pretty sure that's not right. Because without Internet it couldn't do that, and I've seen Nexus 7s come out of the box configured before they got connected to Wifi.

Are you saying that Google has your WiFi password?
And it gives this password to their employees to pre-configure your device before shipment?
Imagine, the cost to Google, with the labor being so expensive in the USA, to open each box, take out the wrappings, configure your device, and wrap it again like a brand new unit, with plastics, tape around the box and so forth.
Boggles the mind.
Best regards,
K guys I'm gonna try something new to me: Voice of reason.
Maybe there's a special NFC code that wakes the device and has it connect to some WiFi that is nearby and configure then shut down. If that is the case, all they would need to do is have Samsung ship the devices in a state that would accept a NFC wake (could even be a special hardware wake circuit), scan the device to your order, and leave the box in a WiFi accessible location for an hour and it should all be able to have downloaded. No need for a greasy Google goon to touch your device or know your WiFi passkey. Samsung can seal the box, and Google can just shove info into your tablet from its database. G would never pay an army of people to unbox and play with a million tablets, I am certain.
Do keep in mind that any data that Google has in their database is recoverable - i.e., your privacy being safe just because someone didn't have an opportunity to scribble your wpa2 key down is a naïve notion... Keep your digital life as private as you are comfortable with everyone knowing.

Just like above, or simply it logs on to someone's unsecured WiFi and configures the account based on the Serial Number as I have mentioned above.

As far as I remember if you don't uncheck the syncing options your WIFI password is stored in your google account when setting it up.
Happened to me twice with GB. Made me change the WIFI password.
