[BOOT ANIMATION] -- Homer Simpson goes crazy

For my first post on this fine forum, I'd like to share this first version of a custom boot animation for the atrix.
It's the part from the halloween special where Homer goes nuts in a kind of The Shining remake.
Look like this.. :
www . youtube . com/watch?v=R9Od7_A4H54
I had to do it!
I'll upgrade it to a longer version (it doesn't cover my entire boot sequence right now) as soon as I have time. Tips welcome.
--- INSTALL NOTES FOR THOSE TOO LAZY TO SEARCH THE FORUMS ---
The zip file contains an .ogg file and a bootanimation.zip file.
You want root explorer - mounted /system read-write.
Copy homer.ogg to /system/media/audio/notifications
Copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media
Reboot and rejoice.
Fail.
Can you make a spiderpig one, that would be epic!
I second that.
Pls pls make spider pig

[BOOT] Eclipse CARBON Boot Animation (12.02.11)

Eclipse CARBON Boot Animation
Made this for the Bionic, but as luck would have it, it works for X2 as well. Inspired by lifebeginsfriday's new Carbon Red Bliss theme for Eclipse on Bionic, which can be found over at RootzWiki
Thanks goes to nitroglycerin33 for the sweet ROM and the custom font, and lifebeginsfriday for the theme idea.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS CONTENT, JUST AS IT IS NO ONE ELSES FAULT FOR ANY DAMAGE I MIGHT DO TO MINE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED, YA MIGHT JUST BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH STOCK. It's not that complicated, just do a little research. Plenty of knowledge floating around XDA...
Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the description so that it is just bootanimation.zip
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in either /system/media or /data/local folder
4:: you will be warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end (not really, just accept the merge)
REBOOT

This animation is sick.. great job.. I saw it on youtube

Looks awesome. Fitting for the DROID series. When I installed though I found my bootanimation.zip in system/media, not data/local.

you can install new boot animations in /data/local, they will run in place of the system, default. this will allow you to use new boot animations but still have your original in case you want it back. (some things like the UOT kitchen will install boot animations here by default)

To anyone who wants to save their current animation in case they wanna go back. Just use something like root explorer to make a copy of the bootanimation.zip that u already had in system/media
And paste the copy on ir sdcard for safekeeping
Ill be checking this one(and all the others I see in ur sig...wow lol)) later ....thanks
you can also just drop this in the data/local folder and your current boot animation will remain untouched in system/media
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Yup ..that too
I was speaking more for the system media folder
I had noticed it worked that way when I had changed it b4 using root tools...

You can also change the ending to .bak instead of .zip and it can stay in the media folder.

Yea
When I tried that when.using root tools tho it deleted my stock animation ...
Copying the zip is fool proof
For some reason it only plays once instead of repeating until the phone boots. Is that normal?

I was just going to ask that I went into the boot animation desc.txt file but none of my edits will save I have my root enabled as well as write permissions so I can change things in es files explorer any info on how to make it continue to loop would be great.
I see what you are saying ash, good plan then!

The file is already written to loop. Not sure why it isn't...does it just go through once then go black?

Just tried it. Yeah it goes through once then just stays black. Looks awesome though.

out of curiosity, for those who aren't getting the loop, did you put the zip in system/media or data/local? I rechecked the files and the loop is scripted. Haven't had any issues with anybody running it on Bionic...

hmmm...have you tried my Eclipse CARBON animation in the themes section also? It has a loop too and I haven't had anyone on the X2 forums say anything about it yet.
just tried carbon. Worked without a problem. Looped fine.

Droid Bionic Boot Audio Solved!

I have read many post on changing the boot audio along with the boot animation, but was unable to get it to work with my bionic so i did some foot work with my budy and we figured out how to change the boot audio on the droid Bionic.
1. Download and extract the bootanimation file.
2. Backup/Move your stock bootanimation file out of system/bin
3. Move the new bootanimation file to system/bin
4. Move selected audio (Must be mp3 format and named "android_audio") to system/media
Reboot phone and enjoy =)
Thank you!
Hmm have to try it..
I'm having trouble with using your file. When I try it out i get nothing but a black screen when i try to replace the system/bin bootanimation file with yours. Is there anything that i'm missing?
Thank You

Boot Animations for 2014 moto g

Caution:::: I have today (1-18-2015) heard on the rumor mill that Motorola have used a new binary in the 5.0.2 update, this binary affects the boot animation. In effect it may only allow animations made in an mp4 format to work and causes a system crash if using the old, tried and tested format of frames of jpg's or png's. This of course fits in with Motorola's own animations which are mp4's. I can't vouch for the fact that it may be possible to overcome this by changing permissions but it seems that the new binary will have to be installed. In view of the fact that all my animations up to now are jpg's and png's I would strongly advise you don't install them on a 5.0.2 upgrade. I hope I'm being over cautious but I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through the number of re-sets that I have had to do over the past few days.
I've made a couple of animations for the 2014 moto g so over the next couple of days I'll post them to this thread in case anyone is interested. The usual disclaimer applies i.e. I am not responsible if installing these files causes your house to blow up, your cat to run away or your wife, partner or friend leave you for the next door neighbor.
This first one is CIA themed so I have made a similar bootlogo file in case anyone wants to go the whole way! The two files are easily identifiable by the names.
The "Logo" file is a flashable zip using any custom recovery (TWRP - CWM - Philz).
The animation zip has to be placed manually using any file manager you like.
First - go to ..... /system/media ..... and rename the bootanimation which is there to avoid it being overwritten. You can add the word "old" or "bak" or anything you like.
Second - copy the CIA-Anim.zip file to the folder ...../system/media ..... and then rename it bootanimation.zip
These files will work with KK and Lollipop O/S's and with all versions of moto g 2014 edition.
The PNG file shows you the Logo ..... The GIF file gives you an idea of the animation.
OK here is another one. Same as before all disclaimers apply i.e. house - cat - neighbor.
Logo file is "recovery flashable zip"
Anim file is put into ...../system/media ..... folder
JPG shows how Logo looks ..... GIF gives you an idea of the animation.
OK here is another one. Same as before all disclaimers apply i.e. house - cat - neighbor.

Here's one for the Marvel Fans.
Usual disclaimer and guidance applies
Logo is flashable in recovery ..... Anim rename and place in /system/media
JPG shows Logo ..... GIF gives idea of Anim
OK as before same disclaimer and guidance apply
Logo file is flashable in recovery ..... Anim file placed in /system/media
At the moment I am holding off from posting any further anims. Before posting I always try out new anims on my own XT1064 to make certain they work and there is no possibility of bootlooping for other users. Since updating to 5.0.2 I have found problems installing new anims i.e. continuous bootlooping causing me several instances of having to factory reset and re-install the update. Until I can determine whether this is a fault on my phone or is caused by the 5.0.2 update I won't post any more. As a possible related issue, I have found that I can no longer make alterations to the "build.prop" file without causing a bootloop and crash.
