I was on bulletproof 2.5 and the company was using exchange 2003 and everything was working just great. Then we got ics leaks and I tried couple of different roms. (Speed ROM and RMS quick-sense, on Speed-ROM 4.0 hybrid at the moment). The company switched the exchange server to 2010. Since then I have not been able to get my email. (on either ROM). It lets me create the account and authenticates the account, but then during sync, I get unknown error on exchange server ..
I have sent out email to our IT about this problem and may be they will be able to help from their side .. but may be this is a known problem and someone has already found a solution?
I looked around and someone was suggesting using AOSP email apk. So I tried that. (replaced /system/app/Email.apk with AOSP email.apk and added exchange.apk to that folder. (It was not present in that folder)
I am S-ON and on Speed-ROM 4.0 Any ideas, suggestions will be appreciated!

Got a strange problem with my new T-Mobile G2 (HTC Hero) ...
If I try setting up & syncing my Exchange email I get all sorts of error messages ranging from username/password incorrect (when I know it isn't) to a long winded one "Your Microsoft Exchange Server account does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server administrator" ...
Previously the same Exchange server (2010) was used to sync email via the MS Exchange application on an iPhone and also a XDA.
I'm guessing there is a bug or anomaly with the Exchange application on the T-Mobile rom (it incidentally came shipped with the latest 2.73.110.26 October rom) as I downloaded and successfully set-up/synced my email using the TouchDown v4.0.0008 application - and also using another Exchange application (Contacts Sync) from Wryke.
I've spoken to the Server admin, who has done what he can, but he's thinking (as I am) that there is a problem with the built in app ...
Oh, and am I right in thinking that because it has come shipped with the latest (2.73.110.26) rom then I can't flash a custom rom at this time ?
Anyone have any suggestions ?
Cheers

I had the same issue yesterday when I forgot to check the box "This server requires an encrypted SSL connection". I've never had to check this box before when we ran Exchange 2007 but we moved to Exchanged 2010 yesterday just before a reset the exchange account on my Hero.
Give it a try, it may work

exchange 2010 + htc hero - which settings ?
I was wondering, which settings do you have on your exchange 2010 server ?
On exchange 2003 it worked flawlessly (almost), but on exchange 2010 I keep getting the "failed to create account..".
Initial login seems to work fine, but after selecting what to sync it fails.
I dont have a paid SSL certificate, only a self-signed one, but I dont imagine that causing too many problems (or am I wrong?).
Any help appreciated
Hello,
Does anyone know what to change to resolve this? I still have this issue whether or not the SSL box is checked.
If you are using an internal certificate, try copying certificate to SD and installing, also if you are still running hero 1.5 you must make sure exchange 2010 servers mobile settings are configured to allow "unsupported devices" you may also have to disable password policy just for your phone on the server
I know this is a really old thread, but you might try checking to see if your password is about to expire. In my case I got this error and it was because my password was about to expire (the Windows AD notifies you when you log into a Windows PC on the AD domain). Once I changed my password everything started working again. I guess this is technically a bug with Android because Android should be able to tell you that instead of saying that you're unauthorized.
Sorry I posted this question on the development forum first....
Has anyone noticed that on rooted 1.1.0 touchdown is not syncing anymore? I'm sure it was working on my auto-nooted 1.0.1 but then I restored several times and now on the newly installed rooted 1.1.0 I can no longer sync my google contacts. I then tried it on nookie froyo and can not get it to work either. Can anyone with touchdown verify that?
Thanks!
I can't seem to get touchdown working after using autonooter and then applying the 1.1 update. It was working for me in 1.0.1
Sent from my nook color XDA App
one problem I noticed on our exchange environment was every time I did a manual sync it created a new device partnership on the exchange server. At the time I was running 1.0.1 rooted though. I haven't tried 1.1 yet. If you have access to your exchange infrastructure you may want to check out how many device profiles you have associated with your account. Exchange I think has a set limit of 10 partnerships per user.
On a similar note touchdown doesn't seem to want to sync on froyo either. however I think it's having trouble getting past the 2010 device policies. Strange that it works on my hero.
I had problems setting up. Their support was phenomenal. So I would contact directly. Solution was their new beta release (not on market). Now works great for me on 1.1... TX didn't like wifi reset. Also contacts can be an issue if TX is reformatting on sync (then sync can take an hour and get stuck in a loop)
anyone find resolution to this problem?
I am having the same issue. Touchdown works fine on my Evo but nook color cant even initialize activesync now. This used to work on 1.0.1 but would create new partnerships every sync.
We are running Lotus Notes at work (I will accept all the pity that anyone cares to give me). We have version 8.x and have Lotus Traveler servers up and running. The Lotus Traveler software on android leaves a few things to be desired.
Traveler server can speak standard ActiveSync. The problem is that the Gingerbread and Froyo versions of the Exchange setup on android broke the ability to put in a custom URL for the "exchange/traveler" server.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14486
Is anyone aware of any way around this? I would like to remove the traveler software and just use the built in email app with my lotus email. There are some apps that you can run on the android that will use ActiveSync to work with a traveler server but I really wanted to use the built in email app if possible.
Maybe someone who developed a custom Email.apk that allowed for a manual server URL?
Thank you.
Working EMail.apk
Hi,
I had the same problem. I patched the current EMail.apk from Gingerbread, now it works for all my Traveller Accounts. This version is the Galaxy Tab version, but should also work on smaller devices.
Have fun,
Bender.

Thank you. How does one install this? Do I need to remove the old Email.apk or can I install this one over the top? (phone is rooted but does not have custom rom or kernel)
Problem with BodyPreference
Hi,
I have one more problem with the current app.
I get only Mime Encoded EMails and they are not displayed correctly.
I have to first work this out, then you can use the app.
When you have a roote phone, all you have to do is go to /system/app
delete Email.apk and Email.odex (if you have one), then copy the new Email.apk to this plays. Open Email.apk, the app is installed and then reboot your device.
Bender.
Awesome. Thank you for working on this.
Any luck making this work?
I have a Lotus Notes Traveler account and i'm trying to make use of the built-in email in ICS. All my calendar entries and mail headings are syncing just fine but there's no visible body to be read in any email.
Anyone with a solution?
Nobody?

Hi,
I am on stock ICS Galaxy Note and want to use my lotus notes using native email client but I am not able to sync because my company uses port number in server name like :
mail.mydomain.com:15001/servlet/traveler
if i put :15001 the mail client Next button gets disabled any fix for this?
Same here.... This custom port is killing me... You could try setting a port forwarding from another computer, setting ot as you server.
Not sure it will work, but it might.
Also if anyone here has the latest LotusTraveler.apk (v. 8.5.3.2) could you please post?

Hi Guys,
Since about a week ago (XXLPH firmware), my Exchange email stopped working.
Just says Connection Error all the time.
I can wipe the email settings, then enter them again, it will connect and start downloading mail, then stops and says connection error.
My Transformer is fine with all the same settings.
I upgraded the software to XXLPQ, did a full wipe and Factory Reset and still the same.
Any ideas please?
Thanks.
Faced the same problem, reverted back to GB all is well...
Tried lot of things but didn't work with ICS using Samsung email client, although Maildroid was working fine.
Same here, but only with my work account (Exchange 2010) - works fine with my (hosted) personal Exchange account (which is on Exchange 2007 AFAIK).
It's been this way with all ICS leaks. Yesterday I thought I got it working by adding the accounts the other way around, but today I'm getting connection error again. I think it's got something to do with the Device Administrator setting, because I never get that prompt for the second account I add, whereas I'm pretty sure I did on GB.
Using Enhanced Email in the meantime which works fine, but the Samsung client has some great features

I too have the same issue - Connecting to the Exchange Server at work (Exchange 2007), I have no issue. The Exchange Server at home (2010) continually shows up with "Connection Error". XXLPH installed here too.
Me too
Been driving me crazy. I agree it seems to be about the RSA device permissions. I think I'll have to go back to GB. Dammit, I wiped everything and have wasted all of today on this ...

They say replying to yourself is the first sign of madness ...
But I wonder if Samsung will fix this before pushing out the official UK update next week.
Hmmm ... I'm surprised more people haven't reported this.
Same here. Updated yesterday to XXLPQ and have had the Connection Error ever since...

I sent a link to this thread to Samsung Support, let's see what happens...
I've been looking into this (and learning a lot about EAS at the same time) - and have narrowed it down to XXLPH not liking the security policies contained within the Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policy that is being used. trouble is, no amount of fiddling has given me a long term solution (I have got it to work for short periods of time though).
I suspect that installing an Exchange 2007 CAS in my infrastructure and pointing my Galaxy S II to that will provide a workaround - but that's hardly a long-term solution. If that works, then forcing the handset to connect using an older version of the ActiveSync protocol should also work. This may be a more achievable workaround if I can figure out how to do it!
it's also failing with gmail/google mail for apps added as an Exchange Activesync. when upgrading from GB, 1 of 2 of my gapps accounts stopped getting new mail. after a full wipe, both accounts now fail to fetch any mail or folders. logcat shows the error "Email:SecFeatureWrapper(6658): Was not initiated" while refreshing mails.
I'm having the exact same issues but for me they seem to be related to Hotmail (and it's Exchange 2003-like EAS protocol. The moment I add m.hotmail.com as an Exchange account, my other corporate and Office365 stop syncing.
The moment I remove the Hotmail account, all other Exchange accounts start working again. Very strange.
You guys added Exchange2003 or Hotmail mailboxes? I found this issue on nearly all SGS2 ICS build.. currently on LPQ.

Aha! That explains it. I couldn't figure out why everything was working tickety-boo this morning and then the Exchange (Work) stopped working. Must have been cause I added hotmail as an exchange server too.
Indeed that also explains why I thought it was working when I added the other account first - I guess it was in fact working up to the point where I added the second account ;-)

I only have Exchange 2003. It was working fine until about two weeks ago.
Trying K-9 mail now, Touchdown doesn't work either.
I've tried the exchange mail app from one of the ICS leaks. My main issue is the scheduled mail just not seem to work. For peak time I don't need push mail, only needs to check every 4 odd hours, but even though I've set it up like that it still keeps on pushing mail whenever a new email comes in.
Can anyone confirm that the email client works properly with only one account installed?
I would be happy enough to do that, and use the MS Hotmail dedicated app for my personal email if I knew it worked.
Anyone doing this?

No not even with one account.
Exchange 2010 Problem
I had this problem with an Exchange 2010 account when the email retrieval size was all works just fine on 100kb, no connection errors at all. Although Hotmail seems fine when email retrieval size is all.
I have used all ICS Beta and official ICS Versions. All Version have the Exchange Bug.
Good Morning,
I've recently tried to install a few different 4.0.3 ROMS to my phone and have had a universal problem across them with my email. Specifically my Exchange account for work. I've been reading some conflicting information about it being a known bug and there being workarounds.
Our organization doesn't have any enchanced Exchange security that requires a PIN on the device at this time, although I have tried adding a PIN to be certain.
I'm getting incomplete synchronizations with an error of "Connection Error" in the email client. New mail is not being delivered. I have tried different message size and push/manual configurations to no avail. My coworker has an i9100 S2 that has no problems at all with his email/exchange configuration running on an i9100 4.0.3 ICS ROM. It's the only real deal breaker for me with these new ROMs as I really enjoy the new OS.
I have confirmed that my issues traverse the latest versions of SHOstock and Lil Phone Bricker. When rolling back to my Unoriginal ROM, behavior is as expected and no email sync issues exist.
Does anyone have any recommendations or email/exchange.apk files that seem to work without issue for corporate exchange email?
Update
Just posting that I attempted to install email.apk and exchange.apk from my coworkers i9100 phone and I still am getting the same connection error with incomplete sync.
I've tried a couple of third party apps:
K-9 - Works great but doesn't push through WebDAV
Touchdown - Awesome App and Push is working - 20$ for license
So it seems i can get it working through other means, just not with the native apps.
Thanks
