[Q] Doomlord Root and Recovery - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello again....i'm really struggling trying to get my xperia s rooted and install recovery. I cannot get my head around it. I feel stupid, but i did my one x with no problems but i cant seem to get my head around this. I unlocked the bootloader. I'm assuming it is unlocked as when it completed it said "finished" in the cmd prompt box and my phone had reset etc... I don't understand about doomlord recoveries etc. Which kernel do i use to root my phone and then install recovery? Does the kernel root and install recovery, or do i have to do it seperately? Any help would be appreciated. I apologise for the noob question. I have my fastboot files, so i just need to know which version kernel/recovery i use. I've been reading for ages but i cant seem to get my head around it. Thanks in advance.

Flash doom kernel advanced stock it has root and recovery.

thanks for that....it went through and it worked. Took me hours. thanx for your help. how do i get into recovery?

There are 2 choices for you
1. If you only want to root and want to keep the stock kernel (no overclock, under-voltage, etc), Advanced Stock Kernel with Recovery is your choice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635582
2. If you want to root, overclock, under-voltage and some advance stuffs, DooMKernel can serve your for these. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557452

DooMLoRD explained this in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594828. Scroll down to the "how to enter recovery?" section.
The other way is using "Reboot into Recovery" menu in ROM Manager app from Play Store. Please take a look at the "THE RECOVERY IS COMPATIBLE WITH ROM MANAGER!" section in the same thread.

CWM - Based Recovery Xperia s - The easy way

Hi all, i recently scoured these forums searching for the most simple way to achieve recovery on the Xperia S. Of course to no avail to a newbie like myself. My device is rooted and with ICS, with an unlocked bootloader. I initially tried to achieve CWM by using the application on the market (Prior to obtaining root but with unlocked bootloader & ICS). I recently tried to achieve CWM using the CWM - Xperia on the market and success it worked! Simply click the "Reboot into recovery mode" within the application and it will install CWM into the system partition so you can use recovery! I am unsure whether this has been posted recently but i avoided posting it elsewhere due to restrictions and the like, i hope this hasn't been discovered yet and im not just being ignorant to the forum i literally could not find any news of this elsewhere!
If needs be, i will make a guide on how to achieve this including the rooting and flashing steps i took.

Here you go...
Download the attachment!
Unzip using WinRar
Connect your phone in normal mode
Go to the folder you extracted earlyer
Double click on "Install.bat"
Restart your phone
While turning on,at the Sony Boot Logo simply tap a few times the screen!
Now you should have CWM Recovery on your phone!
Simple as that
Hope helps you...
CWM 5 supports the touch screen buttons on the bottom of the phone also. its very easy to use!
Beats audio installed via this method.
On what firmware is that available? This is just a one click method after achieving root.

CWM is some kind like the Bios from your pc...except does not have the same functions
it`s a recovery, where you can backup your rom and restore if something goes wrong with your phone!
with it you can install some custom ROM`s
you can clear cache...dalvik cache....and a lot more to do!
but really the mos usefull function of it is the backup-restore and the flash of different modules rom`s and kernels!
it`s better to have cwn just in case

install Sony PC Comanion first
second check the usb debugging box from {}developer options
then just plug your phone into the usb
after that double click on install.bat
i am on unlocked bootloader
i don`t know if it works with locked bootloader
it should work
another way to install CWM is to flash a kernel wich already have CWM on it!
to do that you must install fastboot driver an connect your phone in fastboot mode to your pc(with the phone shut off pres and keep volume up key and plug into USB untill the blue led is on)
than go to the extracted folder(in the attachment) and pres and hold shift key + right click
select from menu open command window here
in the cmd window type " fastboot flash boot kernel.elf" without the comma`s
it will install the Xperia SSpedd OC @ 1,67 MHZ and you will get CWM olso on your device!
After installing that to enter CWM pres volume up when booting the phone while the blue led and light stripe is on!
this is olso for unlocked bootloader,i don`t know if it works for locked bootloader since my phone is with unlocked bootloader from the day 1!
Again simply installing this APK from the market seems to be less daunting.

Ares,
I think the op was talking about this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler which was the purpose of his post. The easiest way for new people to install CWM is with this apk from the market.
Correct me if I'm wrong OP.

confused rooting my phone

I have the HTC Rezound with the recently released O.T.A. ICS from Verizon. My objective is to root the phone and kill all of the B.S. bloatware that Verizon feels they must add to the phone. I have posted before to ask how to do this and everyone says root the phone and kill the apk files or alternatively Root the phone and download Rom Toolbox then kill it from there. I have gone through and followed the "[GUIDE] Super-noob guide to unlocking, rooting, and flashing Ziggys kernel" to the 'T' up until its time to load the Kernel. I do not want to change the Kernel so my qquestion is:
If i have gone through the process of rooting my phone it should be rooted at this point. However when I run Root Check Basic it tells me "Sorry this device does not have proper root access." I do not understand why. In order to get full root access am i going to have to continue with installing the Kernel.
Is there anybody who could help me. I am missing.

1. Wrong section. Please post things like this in the general or q&a sections, not flaming, just telling you for future references.
2. If your device has an unlocked bootloader, flash amon ra recovery or twrp and go to the dev menu and it will say something like give Su permissions or root or whatever, just click that.
3. Profit.
4. You're welcome.
To root you should download the latest version of SuperSU zip file, and flash it with anon RA recovery.

This is a great community.
You do not need to root your phone to get rid of the bloatware, you can keep your phone stock unrooted and debloat it yourself and not have to worry about flashing anything. To disable go to menu>apps and after clicking an app you see the choice of disabling.
SuperSU not working
I don't know why i cant get this to work. I have flashed the amon recovery to my phone. Followed these steps:
1)Flash AmonRa Recovery.
2) Boot into AmonRa Recovery.
3) Scroll to and enter the Developer menu.
4) Scroll to install Su. DO NOT INSTALL THE ENG (Unguarded) one. Use the other one.
5) Confirm this, when it is finished, go ahead and reboot. You should be rooted.
Downloaded the SuperSU from google play and select install. after a few minutes it comes back and says the SU binert needs updated, I select continue. then after about a minute it says installation failed.
What am i missing? I have followed everything to e "t" I don't get it
More help please.

Also do i use the same method as above to flash it or is there an easier way.

Flash in recovery. If you have already flashed a custom recovery(amon ra) then pull your battery, hold out for 3 seconds, insert battery, hold vol down and power at same time til bootloader boots, select recovery, select flash zip menu, select sdcard(assuming you placed flashed zip on external sdcard), select file, press power to confirm, reboot when done. Now you should be rooted.

Create recovery kernel

Hello,
Today I updated my phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690 and FlashTool.
Now I want to root it.
Most tutorials tell me to get CWM first and then install SuperSU (Or whatever I want) while others tell me to use a pre-flashed filesystem.
Since I prefer to not to do the latter, and the first is impossible without already having root, I saw there was a way to boot a kernel which includes CWM. (Or at least I think it does, since I haven't tried it yet)
However, I can't download it due to 4shared and I prefer things the hard way.
Anyway, can anyone give me general instructions to how to make my own kernel?
I'm asking for something like: Exrtact a kernel using X, place CWM files in Y, etc... (Maybe I have to compile something?)
Or maybe you know some wiki/forum page which can explain this to me.
Thanks in advance.
BTW, I'm on linux.
Sooo... I found the answer on my own
Looks like CWM recovery is already compiled in the CyanogenMod default kernels for the neoV.
Just use those, or compile it by yourself using the guide on their site.
load the kernel by booting into fastboot and using "fastboot boot boot.img" on a computer.
You have to press volumeup repeatedly while booting the kernel to enter CWM.
You will need an unlocked bootloader for that...

Sorry, forgot to mention
best is to use x-parts if you are on locked bootloader.. or else every custom kernel comes with a recovery along for our device..

Hi guys, help please!!

I am a complete novice.
I was trying to gain root access. but before that i had to install an insecure kernel, I think i chose a bad 1 as i don't know what im doing Kernel_I9100XWLP4_INSECURE.tar is the kernel and when it wont reboot, just shows the start up screen then goes blank, i then tried to install secure kernel Kernel_I9100XWLP4.tar to see if it would fix it but same problem.
Does any 1 fancy holding my hand through the stages to fix my phone please?

Volume down is download mode.
Hold menu, power and volume up at the same time.
If you have a custom recovery (likw cwm ClockWorkMod) then you would be able to flash a dorimanx kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219) I would download a 7.x version (newest) and flash it through cwm. Or, of course, if you want a different rom then flash the rom like Muthzer the One said.

Did you download this one? Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-TAR-FOR-ODIN.tar
When you succesfully flashed this kernel through odin you've got root access

You must not unzip it. Just download it and leave it as it is. Odin needs the tar file.

On latest STOCK rom. Looking to root.

I did some searches and came up short. I have my bootloader unlock code. Can somebody link me to a root guide for the latest stock rom please? I don't want to install a custom rom. Just install root.

So just to clarify, all I have to do is fastboot to twrp? I don't need to install it? It's confusing. "Boot to recovery and had TWRP"?? Never rooted a phone before. If somebody could go into greater detail, that would be great.
To get root and TWRP.
Credit to Foltz61.
1. Boot to bootloader.
2. Fastboot boot TWRP-L.img
3. Install supersu-2.49.zip (even though I didn't lose root)
4. Reboot back to system.
5. Reboot back to bootloader.
6. fastboot flash recovery TWRP-L.img.
7. fastboot reboot.
8. Boot to recovery and had TWRP

I tried to CyanogenMod my phone. I could not even install twrp. I found those instructions from a link here (supposedly everything one may need to know about the Mate 2):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3149530
I tried the link on my phone and it goes to the last post. Please start with the first post....

You were eventually able to install twrp though right? Seems pretty straight forward and easy. Unlock bootloader, setup adb on comp, enable adb on phone, boot into twrp, flash custom recovery.

Nope. I missed that the unlock part was necessary! Thank you for giving the details though!!!!
When I figured that Device Only mode gives decent GPS use for maps, directions, and Pokémon Go I just decided to leave it be. Plus all this concern with root and Pokémon Go not working. I don't play much but I keep my phone as backup when my son's battery dies.
Thanks again!
