Cant download large files from market via 2/3G - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi everyone,
so i have this problem, when using 2g/3g i cant download larger files then only few MBs. I can only download large files when WiFi is turned on.
I have tried so search for solution, but the ones that have to work - uninstall market updates and clear cache - doesnt work
any solutions?
im using stock 2.1 version, rooted.

i think theres an option in market settings ,also try to remove the check on update over wifi only

doesnt work,
about the network problem, i doubt so, because before i was using different provider and had same problem.

I had the same issue once (although I was on custom rom, not stock) and I only find one way to fix it. Restoring all firm with companion (I don't matter the user data) and then I tried 3G download with stock firm, and worked fine.

OK this WORKED!
i think its the ultimate solution.
Ok so here i think how it is...
When you insert a sim, OS itself configures to be available for mobile internet services, but it is not accurate. Even it settings i had provider settings i wasnt able to download larger files from Market. So even i thought it wount help, i gone to my service provider website and checked for settings. I sent SMS with text required to get settings via SMS, it said my phone doesnt need that and doesnt fit, and im doing at my own risk this and not only that. Even in website i checked that my phone automaticly configures own correct settings. But it was false. I got the settings even they adviced not to use because they are for older phones only and the result is great, now i can download the files from the market!
So i think first thing to do when such thing happens, to check internet settings with the ones provided by service provider to see if everything matching

HELP!! Internet connectivity issues. $REWARD$

$$REWARD$$
I have an AT&T Motorola Atrix.
I've been having a lot of issues with the internet connectivity. 10 days ago internet was working well and suddenly stoped working well. I don't know what happened. I didn't install any application or update the Firmware version.
The problem is that when I use internet the arrows that show data activity show that the phone is sending data but it doesn't show the download arrows, and for that reason the connectivity hangs for about 1 to 2 minutes and thats is very annoying. When I want to use Google Music, YouTube or any internet demanding app I need to wait for data to load. I also have Dropped call problems and sometimes the people who I'm talking to is unavailable to hear me, but I can hear them good.
I have tried the different methods to get a solution:
--->Flashe back SBF 1.4.2 and used that firmware with its modem for 1 day
--->Flashe back SBF 1.4.2 updated to 1.5.7 and used that firmware with its modem for 1 day
--->Flashe back SBF 1.4.2 updated to 1.8.3 and used that firmware with its modem for 1 day
--->Flashed every single modem available for the Atrix on the XDA website. (Telstra, Chinese Atrix, Bell, Brazilian Claro)
---> I have tried the above methods with GINGERBLUR 2.5 and GINGERBLUR 4.5
---> I replaced the SIM card with a new one
---> I tested the 2 SIM cards with my Captivate and internet works great
None of the method
---> I have tried using the phone without any application installed on it. Only stock and gigngerblur apps.
The only way I can solve this problem is by tethering internet to Computer with barnacle and use a lot of data with the computer (I use mostly to upload my Itunes library to Google music). Then I stop tethering and the internet connection works great on the phone for I would say a couple of hours and the begins to hangs again.
NEED HELP to solve this problem.
ANY SOLUTION. Will donate you $30 if you fix my problem
When it hangs, does it solve the problem if you turn the airplane mode on and off? If this helps, try to shutdown your phone completely, as when you only reboot the phone, the phone radio doesn't shutdown completely.
You should also test to disable the automatic network search and select your service provider manually.

When I turn airplane mode on/off it doesn't necessary helps and when I have tried turning phone off and on I take out the battery but it doesn't always help.
The only method that works 100% for sure is to tether internet connection and have heavy traffic
I had this problem today. And I believe I know why..I flashed a different radio. The radio that goes with 4.1.83 wasn't installed. I flashed a different one earlier in the day. wasn't impressed with it so I tried returning the stock radio with 4.1.83. Turns out I flashed the wrong one. H+ was still at the top but no arrows (data)...make sure you have the right radio with the right sfb.
Hope that didn't confuse you..

Well there is always the option of contacting moto support and make use of the warranty. Just be sure to flash 1.2.6 or 1.5.7 and than OTA to 1.8.3 before you send it in.

Data Connection not working anymore after flashing

Hey guys i got a problem.
After flashing my phone normally with Odin like usual all of a sudden data connection aint working anymore. I works fine with wifi, but not without.
It shows 3G/H signal in the status bar, and i see the upload arrow is blinking so it is sending data, but not receiving anything.
I tried googling it, tried flashing various different roms that worked before and original firmware, but nothing helps so far.
I checked the provider info in the phone, and its all correct.
Kinda lost here, hope someone has an idea how to fix it
thx in advance
nobody? i tried everything so far and dont even know why its not working anymore
It's going to be difficult to get much help here because I don.t think most developers have had time yet to get into the innards of the A501. Have you tried flashing back to the original stock ROM? You did back it up before you flashed it with a custom one right?
Sent from my A500 using xda premium
No nandroid backup, only titanium backup since i never had problems before.
I tried flashing all kind of original firmware now, KH1-3, even older ones, the latest. tried all custom roms that worked fine before.
Tried different sim cards, readded the APN settings etc.
Found out now that 2G is working, but as soon as i switch to 3G etc it shows the signal for that, i see upload but no download, so it basicly stops working.

(Instead of quick reply, i hit thanks first!)
Dial *#301279#. If it doesn't work, dial *#*#301279#*#*
Select 2nd option (Change HSPA revision or whatever).
Then select 3rd option (Release 6).
Restart.
Also, check your APN settings.
Use an app called Tweakker which will configure your apn if u dont know exact settings.
thanks for the quick replies guys.
so i did play with the codes today already, the option you stated i tried but sadly it didnt change anything.
HOWEVER i did choose disable HDSPA completly now, so i am on 3G only and guess what, now it works!!
Speeds are not what they used to be at this location, but that might be due to my data limit so i have to check.
With other codes i found out that while being on H/H+ phone didnt download 1 byte, so i have to wonder why.
With 3G it is working now, but what could the cause be. Used to flash quite often and it always worked, so not sure if thats even related to my problem atm.
Any idea what might cause the H stuff not working at all? I read about the SII getting stuck on H+ etc. before, but all the tricks with rebooting or toggling flight mode etc. didnt work for me
so far, thanks a lot!
Try different modems. Depending on ur location and service provider, atleast one should work right. I'm using KI3 modem without problems.

modem depending on location and provider?
i tried several modems from the original firmware thread under development. they all used to work fine before, now they dont. KI3, KI8, KH3 etc. all nothing :/
Hmm strange. May be you should delete all apns, and configure a new one for your provider.
Also give KG5 and KG2 a try.
i am having a SGS2 with KI3 and sensation rom 1.7 with kernel siyah 2.0. after doing this i am also facing a problem with my data connection. it works but its on / off.
can you suggest come remedies like now please .............

[Q] Samsung Dive only works when connected to internet?

It seems that Samsung Dive only works on my sgs2 when either the wifi or the network data mode is enabled on the device. What's worse is that if the "Wireless Networks / View Location in Maps" option is disabled, it will ask to be enabled while tracking the device.
Practically making Samsung Dive uesless.
Is there a fix for this? I've flashed a few ROMs but I'm back on stock, I never had this problem before flashing ROMs. Thanks.

I'm curious how you expect it to work without some kind of data connection.
Regarding your point about being asked for permission, if on KK5 at least, if you freeze the Network Location apk (com.google.android.location), the prompt does not appear and it does not seem to inhibit your ability to use GPS correctly.

Sorry if I made myself unclear, what I mean is that the user has to manually enable wifi or 3g to be able to use SD. So if the phone is lost, there's nobody there to enable 3g/wifi, so SD won't work.
You weren't unclear. How would you like it to communicate with the phone with no data connection?

Before I flashed ROMs SD would activate my 3g (when it was already off), then activate my wireless networks / location option, ten activate my GPS, then find my device. But now all it does is sits there, trying to connect, until i manually enable wifi or 3g, which it will then ask me to enable my wireless netoworks / location, and then it doesn't do anyting.
OP, you make no sense. You didn't answer to oinkylicious's question: how can SD reach your phone if it can't connect to it? It's almost impossible, so yes, someone has to be there to enable data or wifi. It was always like this and it will always be like this with the current technology .
About manually activating the tracking system, I also have my doubts. I only tried this several months ago, but then it showed my location without asking me to enable tracking. I'm on CM7 now, so I can't test it.
Alternatives: theft aware can do the same thing (now quite good, but it works) via SMS. You just send the code to your phone, and it gives you the location.

You still haven't answered my question. Also, could you provide some proof that this works on the other phone with all forms of data turned off, as it intuiges me.
If it works on an older ROM, revert until "fixed". If it doesn't, use an app controlled via SMS.

Hy, did you find a solution, i was thinking to register to samsung dive but found out about this problem. Does somebody really neads to turn on data manually for it to work? Thats just plain useless. If i lost it somewhere who will enable it, or if somebody took it i have to pray for them to enable data, lol.
P.S. Im also on custom rom.

Yeah I use theft aware, but you can get it free with the avast antivirus app. It's controlled by texts, and it has a lot more features than dive, wipe protection, etc.

Avast anti-theft is really nice. I'm using it also, but it's still beta, and has some serious bugs sometimes.
So back to your original question, I think we can call it BUSTED. There's no way for Samsung to activate data connection on your phone if it's turned off manually

[Q] Absolutely stumped - 3G/Image Caching

Hey all,
I am a previous Galaxy S user and now have the S III. I know my way around Android OS but am STUMPED here!
When wi-fi is OFF (mobile network), Google Play store wont render any images whatsoever. I can still get to apps, read description and buy them, but no images. Every now and then I get a "Error: no connection" error when previewing an app but when I retry it works (still no images though) - "Couldn't load Screenshots - retry"
The same is true for Foursquare and one or two other apps. I am not in a bad area - perfect reception and HSDPA.
Twitter and others do not have this problem, but the apps that do experience it are doing so continuously and without fail. I can not stop it happening, unless using Wi-Fi, which is not so often as I am moving around a lot.
I have cleared cache/data from several applications in the list, restarted phone etc etc.. I am avoiding having to do a hard reset here as much as possible as I have to travel this week and do not have time to re-do my all my apps etc etc..
Is there a way to clear DNS cache or something on these phones? It seems as though when using regular mobile network, certain apps get stuck and can't receive certain data while others have no issues whatsoever.
Please help guys - any suggestions are much appreciated!!
Thanks,
Wit

Typical. I work at one of the SA networks. Lol let's not get into which, but this isn't the first time they missed something like this when approving firmware, and you think call centre support would know about it. Settings - More settings - Mobile Networks - Access Point Names
Then make sure you are set to Internet and not WAP

I hope this solves it for you

Hey buddy.
Wish I could give you a finite solution but I never really came right with this until I installed a custom Rom on my phone. Running stock I always had issues with the images in the play sore. I'm with Vodacom down here so dunno if it's network related.
If you go with a custom Rom I highly recommend the final ICS FoxHound 1.4.4 release. Been through many roms and this is by far the best as a daily runner.
Hope you come right man!

Hi buddy,
If you haven't found any solution yet:
I too am using Vodafone Mumbai network and started facing this problem quite recently (could have been just after I flashed LI5 ROM).
Anyway I scoured the net for solutions and found nothing that helped. So through some trial and error I found this solution:
Go to APN screen where you should have two APNs: "www" and "portalnmms".
Hit menu button and click on "Reset to defaults".
Then select "portalnmms" as the default APN.
Solved all issues for me!
I am having this exact same issue. Using Vodafone 3G in Mumbai on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Tried to set "portalnmms" as default APN but can't. Tried changing the "www" proxy to 8.8.8.8 but that didn't work at all. Is there a solution here?
8.8.8.8 is a dns server (powered by Google) not http proxy. You must either use your carrier's proxy settings or leave it blank

Galaxy note i717 weird data.

I don't know if its my network or the kernel. But after flashing the 4aceskernel last night i enabled the fast charged and left it all night with airplane mode on,so i don't get bother. Now this morning i disable airplane off and fast charger off,and i enable my data and roaming, after that i try to get on play store, and it stock on loading with the circle going around, after couple seconds it says connection timeout. I dint pay attention to it, i left it alone.later on i try to use the Facebook app i couldn't it stock on loanding and after couple minutes it says network error. I went to my browser and search something on Google and it was working. I search the letters b,c,d just to check if it was my network. But it turn out that it wasn't my network at lease that's what I'm thinking.so i had some twrp backups from different ROMs and in all of them it still the same problem. I can use the internet to search even i can use xda and i can download ROMs but i cant use the data on any gapps. Or even the Google voice on the stock, opera, chrome,Firefox, dolphin browser. Not even gmails or Facebook. Yes my apn settings are correct.my accespoint is selected in my network.by the way i use net10.
