I rebuilt my phone last night and re-installed all my apps from the market. Today I have tried to log in to check for any updates and all I get is Server Error and a retry button.
I am on Orange in the UK and am using wifi and 3G mobile data but it still wont work.
Market.android.com on the PC does work though.
Is the market down, how do I even check if it is just me?
Thanks
It's up for me... Looks like something on your end.
Can you browse the web? Any other network issues aside this?

No other issues for me, however, I have decided to try one more time and reflash the rom, maybe it was something I inadvertently did.
maybe a dns issue. try pinging market.android.com and then try the ip in your url bar.
Since yesterday i have a problem with the market, too.
The downloads dont start

Hi guys need a bit help with internet connection and gtalk. I know as far as I read that there are problems with disconnecting gtalk which might be the issue with correct apns. When I'm on wi fi everything works fine but when the phone is connected to network it's automatically disconnecting which is very annoying because I'm not getting all the messages.
My question is if anyone found a solution to solve this problem or maybe someone can share the apn settings for 3 sweden so that I can check if it's working. I'm on a stock 2.3.5 firmware + cf root.
Thanks

Could anyone please help with my issue?

the rest of the apps work fine on 3g? if yes, then i believe the app might be the problem
if not the it must be the network, i would try with another modem or just call and ask them wth is going on
Thanks for a replay, actually I tried everything software related and nothing has helped. All apps work fine but thats not app related thing cause once I put the software from a scratch (wipe everything even internal memory and sd card) and it was the same. Today I started experimenting with apns and I see the progress.
Also as I am on 3 network dont know why the default setup is gsm\wcdma? As far as I know they don't provide gsm signal only 3g. Never mind every time I tried to change to wcdma only it was going back imidiatelly to previous state.
Just an hour ago I discover code to force the setup to run only wcdma and hopefuly that will solve my problem. We will see
Anyone from Sweden on 3 network has the same problem?
I've had the same problem with a different device, and never found an answer.
In fact, I trade that phone (Evo 3D) for this S2 (i777).
Heres the thing, for some reason my phone refuses to work on the school's wifi. Its annoying. On my last phone, I thought that it was just that phone, but apparently its not. Now I'm having the same problem on my S2. I can get notifications every now and then but cant use the wifi at all. Sometimes, randomly throughout the day, I can get about 1 - 5 minutes out of it, but then it just stops working again.
I kinda think it has something to do with my Gmail being synced or something, I really have no clue. It has the word "freaking" in it. I just dont think its a coincidence that BOTH phones in a row have the exact same problem. I didnt have the problem with any iPhone I've ever had.
I really need wifi, and I dont wanna get a new phone, so I would appreciate it a lot if some knew what this is about.
It connects and everything. Says it has great signal. Just doesnt work.
Im running the stable CM9.1, straight from the Cyanogenmod website. So its their kernel and all that good stuff. Android 4.0.4.
I know the ROM isnt the problem cause every ROM I flashed on my Evo didnt help at all.
Anyway, any help or tips anyone can give would be great. Thanks!
By the way, the wifi works perfectly fine every where else. Home, College, friend's house. etc.
You need to verify your school does not require special network settings or a proxy.
If you can see the network and connect then its just a settings issue. Have you tried reverting to stock?

I can connect just fine, as normal. It just doesn't allow me internet access.
By stock, do you mean the stock ICS Touchwiz? No. But I guess its worth a try. The only reason I didnt see that as a solution is because on my last phone, I had the same problem whether I was running stock or not.
It sounds like you need a proxy address to access the Internet at your school. Talk to the administrators of the network.

They have proxies restricted from what I know. I dont know too much about proxies, but I tried using a few different proxy apps and none of them worked.
And it doesnt do this to other peoples' phones. Why is it just mine? My other phone was an HTC on Sprint. It just seems like a weird coincidence that both phones have the same problem, and they're two completely different devices. That's why I thought it had to do with Gmail, I know that sounds stupid, but its the only thing the two phones have in common.

At the University I attend it connects but when I try to access Internet it asks me to login my student account. So just because it "connects" doesn't necessarily mean it's connected there may be an extra step after

Our school used to be the same, we logged in through the web browser, but they got rid of that. Now we just connect and that's it.

Two different phones and same issue. Friends phones work but yours doesn't. You have a PICNIC issue.
Problem in chair not in computer (phone). Talk to the network admin or help desk. You're probably using a wrong setting or password. The admin should be able to help you by looking at the logs.

I get what you're saying, believe me, but I just dont see how its a wrong setting. Its default settings ( until I tinkered around trying to fix it). I assume all of my less-knowledgeable friend's phones are default settings too. So it just doesn't seem to make sense that the default settings on two of my phones are the wrong settings, while every other phone seems to have it right to begin with.
I get what your saying, but I cant just talk to our Tech Guy at our school. It just doesnt work like that at my school. Lol. Thats why I'm asking for help on here.
And I dont think the multiple ROMs I've tried have the wrong defaults also.
Then sit down with a friend and make sure EVERY setting Is the same. Make sure you are both running android and using the same browser. If they are on CM too that would be best.
It sounds like something is blocking you from accessing the Internet while on the schools network. I don't think we will be of much help.

I can try the thing with my friend. Im just really the only one in my group of friends that's into, and actually knows a lot about Android devices. So they dont seem like much help. Haha.
And I was hoping people could tell me some ideas I havent tried yet. I know Android, but I dont know much about wireless networks and all that.
I'd love to help more, but since only one wifi network doesn't work for you it has to be something with that network.

Do you need to log in to your school's network? If so, when you enter your login id, if there's a line for anonymous id too, add your login id there as well. In other words, you have to enter your login id twice. Once where it says "login id" and again for "anonymous id."
If that doesn't work, what would help here is more info about how you connect (WPS, WPA, etc.).

It doesn't require me to log in at all. It worked perfectly fine on my old iPhone without having to log in. And it never redirected me in the browser. I've tried everything I can think of.
Proxies (Dont work)
I've tried static IP.
Factory resetting to stock Android (Every time I restart my phone it works for like a minute.)
BUT, I think I came across something. I compared my settings to a friend's, and his phone showed a different IP address. I'm still not sure if it was the IP to his phone, or to the school. How do I find out which IP is which?
Can anyone explain why it works for a minute or two and then stops?
Have you tried going to: Settings->wifi->advanced (you get to advanced by clicking the menu button) to make sure that:
Keep wifi on during sleep: ALWAYS
Avoid poor connections: UNCHECKED
Frequency band: AUTO
Wifi Region: United States
You may want to uncheck wifi optimization.
Oh, one other thing: you aren't using any battery optimization apps are you? JuiceDefender etc? If so, follow their instructions for uninstalling and uninstall!
Beyond that, I haven't got a clue. And no, your IP address has nothing to do with it. It should be different from your friend's.

I know for a fact that there is nothing making my Wifi turn off. I dont use any battery optimizer. And I dont have a clue either. I've never been so stumped. I've done research and found other people with a similar problem, but didnt see solutions on those threads either.
I cant connect using wifi.
Sorry guys, iam needidng your help.

i'll appreciate your response.
I downloaded Carbon-JB-NIGHTLY- 20131114-1003-i777 and flashed to my phone yesterday. Now I have no internet, when I check the mobile network type in setting it says that I am using UMTS. I tried flashing another modem but it doesn't change. I have since restored back to ShoStock3 and my Internet is working fine. Is there a way that i can get it to work. I really like the way Carbon looks and operates but can't do without Internet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW I'm located in Panama but that should make a difference being that all works fine when running ShoStock3. Thanks
Nightlies often have things broken one day, then corrected the next. That's just their nature. You could try and flash the 11/13 file and see if you have working internet.
Another thing to check would be your APN settings; make sure they are correct for whatever network you're on. Wrong APN's can also cause this problem.
Thanks for the nightly tip. The APN settings are the same as I use with ShoStock3. I truly believe its the mobile network type that is causing the issue. I guess I'll have to just try another date like you said

@SteveMurphy you were right it was the APN settings....I had to add the APN type (default, supl) and that did the trick. Thanks again

Glad you got it working, my friend.
I'm on Lycamobile US, and I've had the same issue on different roms. Sometimes the settings come up with the MCC and the MNC, but this last time when i wiped and redid my phone, I had to put it all in manually. Glad u got it figured out.
To get 4.4.4 on my I9300 I put Cyanogen (cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-i9300) on it. Everything works great, but internet seems to fail quite often: I get full H+ bars but no internet. The only thing that seems to fix it is to reboot the entire phone: turning internet off and on again doesn't quite seem to work.
Any suggestions?
*humble bump*
I ran m9 for over 2 weeks and never had that issue with my 3g, strange. Try reflash rom?

Check the apn settings. I had an issue on one flash where it doubled up and incorrectly set the apn and got the same results as you.
I read something about APN being the culprit in another thread... but to my shame, I don't know what APN is :'( Can you tell me?
Also, it seems that internet works fine in some apps (like whatsapp and google maps and such) but not in my browsers (opera, chrome). It's weird.

The Netherlands/Telfort, if that's of any help...
I googled it and set it to the proper values: it works now Thanks a lot!
It seems that for some reason a proxy was set by the rom, which made it not work. Strange that it worked sometimes though...
Anyway, thanks again!
