[Q] Flashlight as a torch? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to use the flashlight on the SG3 as a torch? If so, are there different brightness levels? (as with my Desire Z)

There's a widget which uses the flashlight but there are no different brightness levels. It's called Luz de asistencia (Assistance light I think, I'm from Spain).

There's a stock widget called "Assistive Light" which does exactly what you want.

all most all the apps listed below would do that, choose the best

Thnx for the quick answers!

[Q] torch for miui v2 ??

hello, does anyone knows an app so i can use the flash as a torch?? im using miui v2,., thanks
Can't use it that way b/c it isn't LCD, it a Xenon flash. It requires a charge/pulse type thing to run. There is the red light that reduces Red-Eye and a hack to use it as a flashlight posted here-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1018568

Decrease brightness

I have a rooted S3 with the stock rom. I am looking for a way to decrease the minimum brightness. I have seen and tried the brightness fix from the Note but that didn't work. I've also tried filters in the app store and those suck. On my evo I had a tweak that decreased/increased the min max levels. Is there anything like this for the s3?
Sounds like you may have already tried it but I am using a great app called screen filter. Does the job perfectly.

JKay Framework has a statusbar toggle that can set the screen brightness to a very low level, perfect for night reading.
Try Vodoo Display Filter.
You can't find a better app than this one to do this job!
Let me know if it's ok .
Screen Filter from the Play Store. 'nuff said.
Just tried screen filter and it works neatly.
So I had the Screen Filter app and while it worked it make everything look really funky and filtered. I didn't like it. Voodoo Display Filter is a much better option I think. The filter is less harsh and works great!
Thanks everyone!
Questions go in the QA section
Try Lux from Google Play. It's paid however
"Lux" app from play store.
Best brightness app out there no question.

Light Manager vs Light Flow

Hi everyone,
I want to customize my notification led. Which of the following apps work better with the Note II (dependable and without bugs)?
I have original MB2 Oedxed rom with Xposed & Simplistic frameworks.
I don't care if I have to buy an app as long as it works properly.
Light Manager
Light Flow
Thanks
i wanna know can these applications control led brightness(i wanna max it) and does these applications cause much wakelocks?
If it's just for led flashing, i think light manager or led blinker is for you.
Light flow works perfert on my note2 7100, there is some options like sound notif, viber notif, with repeat custom time in more, and it consumes no much batterie.
I prefere light flow wich i had never never never FC
Light Flow, been using it for a long, long time. No problems whatsoever!
Just downloaded and tried out light flow lite version myself (the free one) and must say it's a very good app but would like to know does it do LED customization for software programs e.g. Evernote etc. Also what's the difference between the paid and free version

Flash Perseus - you can control brightness, LED dim frequency etc.

change color every 20s for lite version and 2,5s for paid version, also 140 differents notications
I've used both. I have the paid version of Light Flow too. I am on Carbon rom and Light Manager seems to be better on the battery. But it really depends on your ROM as well. Just my 2 cents.
After your recommendation and some testing I purchased the Lite Flow app.
Thank you :good:
LED Blinker Pro, not bad...
I've tried Led Blinker Lite and I don't like the way it removes the fading effect that Perseus kernel offers..
Any blinker app that keeps this fading effect?

Does Bad Boyz Sprint Rom allow Kcal Colour calibrations?

Hello my friends, i just got a Sprint M9 and would like to know if BadBoyz Sprint M9 rom allows Kcal Colour calibration? or do i need to install an aditional kernel for it to work? I love the M9, but hate the default color calibration of the screen and found that the Kcal Calibration is absolutely essential for this phone (i used it with Leedroid M9 rom on an ATT version). Thanks in advance for the information!

If you mean like color temperature adjustment then yes. In Settings under display, gestures & buttons. It is just a slider for warmer or colder. I leave it default though as I see nothing wrong with the stock color temperature setting.
Nope that's not what I mean, it's an app to change color calibration, rgb values and it vastly improves the quality of the M9 screen. It's called Kcal color calibration. You can Download the app for it, but your kernel must support it.

Display calibration mod/app?

What I really miss is a Display Calibration App/Mod that works on all devices running on customs roms.
An app that lets you set contrast, light, color, gamma, white balance...
There are way to many phones/tablets that have terrible Delta values.
Anyone here know if there is someone on Xda that working on an mod/app like this?
