I'm on an ICS leak, coming from ICS .75, and I'm noticing a major battery issue. I'm lucky if I get through the day with 2 hrs of screentime, which isn't much better than what my Galaxy Nexus got. I've run system panel, and the main culprit seems to be a bunch of kernel wakelocks related to the system.
In System->battery, Android OS regularly takes up the highest percentage of battery use, even if I've had the screen on for 2+ hrs. This problem is similar to what many complained about when the Galaxy Nexus first came out.
Anyone having the same issue? I can't recall Android OS ever being above 10% on any of my previous droids.
So there is same issue with the Android OS drain on the ICS as on the GB? :-(
you can try One Power Guard app.if your android rooted. you can see more info from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889740

Hello all,
I have a question for you all:
I have flashed a new rom today and have decided to NOT activate Google Now, and (after a few hours only), I seem to see a much better battery use?
Is it possible that this app, being monitoring so much all the time hoggs the battery quite a lot?
So, placebo effect or not?
Certainly possible I suppose, but I haven't noticed it drawing a significant amount of juice on my S3 or my Note 2.
I've had Now running in the background on my Note 2 for over 9 hours and the battery is still at 92% (minimal usage, just on WiFi), and while I'm getting tired of being notified about the ManU match, it doesn't seem to be drawing an inordinate about of power to run.
Is the new ROM you flashed using a different kernel or a newer revision of your previous kernel? In my experience, that's been the biggest factor in terms of power consumption.

Well, I am using temasek's CM10 Kang (70 I believe, latest anyway)
and with the kernel that came with it.
I ve tried other AOSP kernel, but no boot at all, so...
What I think is that XXDLIB modem does has a noticeable effect on good reception over here, so maybe that s the factor here?
When i got the galaxy s3 i was WOWED by the battery life, it was running XXALE8 4.0.4, i am not sure if it was because i wasn't using it as much or because it was running ICS (i have a few batteries, so i dont think its the battery) and also, i notice when downloading stuff in the background the s3 running jellybean lags quite a bit, and i dont think that use to happen on ICS.. (there is lag when downloading in the background on the nexus 10, and that has the exynos 5 and it runs "jellybean")
anyone else notice this?
even my HTC ONE X running cm10 seems to lag when its downloading things, and i dont think i noticed that on sense ICS
My battery life has been consistent across ICS & JB. Always averaged 3.5 - 5 hours screen on time with the battery lasting 24 hours or more. The downloading lag has always been there but it does seem more pronounced on JB. Downloading 800mb+ games on wifi can be a horibble experience lol, I normally just leave the phone to do what its doing
Moved to proper forum.

Self explanatory really, I much prefer having stock android on my s3 but the battery is much worse compared to roms running on a Samsung base.
I would like to know if this happens to everyone and the reason behind it since I've read the "nexus edition" S4 actually has better battery results than the Samsung variant.
Many thanks

Samsung includes a lot of battery saving technology in their roms but it is closed source so developers cannot access it.
I run a custom Samsung ROM and an AOSP - battery isn't noticeably different. I also use Greenify and I turn off auto brightness (run it about 50%) & blocki9ng mode. Overnight I see my battery drop by between 3% & 5%. 15 hours of normal use sees maybe 30 - 45% battery depending on how much game versus phone/SMS.
Best battery so far is 54 hours and at 28% - I was in Melbourne via train and forgot my charger. I know it is the TYPE of use that matters but I was making/receiving calls and spent about 45 mins as hotspot to the wife's laptop.
I run GoogyMax, v6.1 Purelook HD ROM and SlimBean ROM v 7. Haven't found anything not working, haven't got FC's.
Both ROM's installed on full wipe.
Hi everyone!
as i can not post in the development forums and since this is a more general question about slimbean i post it here.
i ran with slimbean 4.2 then i went to 5.0 going to 6.2 when it was released and back to 6.0.
edit: forgot to mention, i have a sgs2 I9100
The thing is:
with all version up to 6.0 with my usual daily usage lasts around 3,5 days without recharging. the average lies between 3-4 days which is quite nice (all with stock slimbean kernel).
My problem was when going to 6.2 with its new kernel that the average time before i need to recharge with the same usage pattern and apps (i just reinstalled all apps i had before and did not change my usage behaviour) went down to around 2 days. Which was quite annoying because i was not used to recharge at least every second night, which left me with my phone without power quite often.
What i really want to know is, with the new build 7, how is the runtime compared to 6.2 or better, compared to build 6.0?
I can try it, but that would require me to have it installed at least for 2 to 3 weeks that i can see how its power consumption behaves.
Has anyone done some tests or has some experinence from using it and can tell me if build 7 is better/worse/equal to build 6.0 in battery consumption?
thanks!

for me personally build 6 was a bad one for battery consumption, and it's improved on 6.5 up
i'm currently running unofficial builds from @fusionjack, but when i was on official build 7 it was much improved over build 6, i'd recommend you try it out and see if it improves for you
Hello all,
I tried all the custom ROMs available and they seem to have a high idle drain. I am loosing usually 10-20% per day which is extremely high in my opinion.
The Paranoid Android and Arter97's software collection seems to be slightly better but that is Android Pie based.
Is Android 10 the actual problem for the drain? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?
I never tried MIUI so I do not know how is the idle drain on the official OS but I had a Lenovo Tab 4 8" plus before and it was barely loosing 1% per day.
I hope I can find a good setup because at the moment there are not many options for a good 8" tablet. Even the Mediapad M6 8.4" is not produced anymore.
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!
Edit: I forgot to mention that I use f2fs partitions on data and cache. I am not sure if that could cause any issue but on other devices I never noticed battery drain because of it.

yes. I'm facing same issue too. performance is owesome but idle battery got problem. have been try all android 10 for clover. all of them have the same issue . I don't think android 10 causes the problem because my lavender on miui android 10 battery life very good.
Turning off wifi works for me. When I do not need the device I just turn it off and the battery lasts much longer then when idle. have not really looked into it but I guess it is related to data usage or device not going to "deep" sleep
Yes, I had this issue with many custom roms, except Carbon rom. I've been running Carbon rom since I found this rom didn't have that issue, though it has less features than most of other roms

Yup, I second that. Also using carbon rom and idle drain is good
If you're using magisk then v20.4 have higher battery drain during idle. Try v20.3
