hello Im looking for a dev to make a ASUS Prime bootload unlocker that dont need to connect to ASUS servers . I have a prime and i cant unlock the bootloader Im not the only person having this problem so you would be helping more then me. Im will to donate 50$ to any one who can make this happend for me . Thanks in advance.
No one can make it because the bootloader is encrypted so only the apk from Asus will work.

For some reason the ASUS unlock tool wont work for quite a few people it gives a "unknown error message could be related to connection issue" I contacted ASUS and they say they cant help me because my serial number has been unlocked and my warrenry it gone. But the funny thing is that my Prime was unlocked when I sent it to them last month and bricked . they fixed it for free and sent it back and it was not unlocked anymore and now i cant unlock it.
wow this is interesting because I had mine fixed from them too due to a bad battery or something, they re locked mine too. I am actually not trying to unlock my prime for now. No real reason other than with my prime unlocked all I did was wish I had not unlocked it.
I used Virtuos Rom which was the same as stock to me, and realized all the good stable roms were based off stock.
Now I am just waiting for a way to root this on .21 without having to downgrade to .15

what someone needs to do is unlock their prime while monitoring TCP/UDP packets. decrypt them and we can easily create a server that emulates connection to ASUS. Of course the meaning for this would ***NOT*** be to illegally unlock your device, but to unlock your device because the normal way is causing issues like the OP

It's just HTTPS, which is trivial to do since we have full access to the client device. Not much going on except for a few GET/POSTS with serial numbers, board numbers and the like.
And no, even if you did record it there's nothing of note since the device unlocking is based on purely device-specific keys.
Of course, this was all known on release day since a few people looked inside the apk to find this out for you.

Why are you afraid of dg to .15 root method, it doesn't affect any settings. Afraid it will brick again as you were once unlocked?

Not likely. We also legally can't reverse engineer the app to do the same things and unlock everything.
There is practically NO reason to totally unlock the bootloader. We can flash different kernels and software on there no problem. The only reason we'd want to mess with it is if we really want to change the bootloader itself, which is dangerous as it is.

The fix for this is to wait and try unlocking another time. There are a few glitches with unlocking, but it's nothing permanent.
Last month I sent my "unlocked" TFP in for service for bent power pins, the unit returned to me upgraded to .21 and "relocked"...no charge the next week. I promptly unlocked it again...no regrets.

I and many others would totally disagree. A partially unlocked boot-loader is far more dangerous than a fully unlocked boot-loader.

No, he meant there's no reason for Asus to release a FULL unlock tool. Right now, the unlock tool is only like a half unlock; they still limit what you're allowed to do after you run it.
You have to run their unlock tool in order to change kernels and flash ROMs.

If we receive this tool will the prime still need root access first or does this override that concern? I updated to ICS before realizing root was not established in the latest version.
Either way, ICS root has been achieved by viperboy. And you will still need root. This only unlocks the bootloader so we can flash custom kernels, recovery, etc. But with an unlocked bootloader, root is pretty much done since you can just about anything else.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
With an unlocked bootloader you can easily install a custom recovery and flash a zip with root
Ok.. cool.. now I'm psyched! Can't wait to see the unleashed potential
Can't wait til we find a way to unlock without voiding warranty. I don't want my charger to fail and asus deny an rma bc I unlocked a bootloader, or any issue that can't be caused by bootloader/root

it will register your serial number in their system that you have unlocked thus when you send it in they will always know that at some point you unlocked it and void your warranty
Did Asus also say before that they were releasing the bootload unlocker the same time as ICS on Jan. 12th..... Just dont get your hopes up when Feb comes and goes and the unlocker is still not officially released by Asus.
This. But they are at least putting out some kind of effort or else Gary wouldn't be on the forums. And lately I have seen more and more support for this launch that went horribly wrong. You never know, they might actually try to be on time with their release dates since they are this far in the support game.

I believe they never gave a date to when the bootloader unlocker was gonna be available until now.
"In response to criticism from the modding and open-source communities, ASUS announced today that it would be issuing a bootloader unlock tool for its new Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet (read parts one and two of our review) at an undetermined future date. Because of DRM concerns, unlocking the Transformer Prime's bootloader will render it unable use Google's video rental service, and it will also void the device's warranty." - 1/3/2012

But yeah, with face unlock you set a pin code as an alternative/backup unlocking method so that you don't get permanently locked out. Even Google recognizes it as a pretty unreliable feature
Still though, I'm looking forward to a stable release build of CM9 so that I can has faceunlock

someone prove me wrong please
Do you want full control over your device? The ability to get rid of the asus crapware and run your own things? I too rooted my SGS2 after about a week of owning it and haven't regretted it.
With root you can install adblockers, backup tools (proper ones), overclocking
If you're technically minded and want to get the most out of your money then root, if you don't want to risk damaging your Aluminium piece of sexy then don't.

Rooting is definitely the way to go, doesnt affect your ability to get ota's and what not, if you want to unlock i say wait a lil bit longer to find out when or if ASUS is going to release nvflash to us, granted it definitely looks promising giving Gary Key's latest update.
That said if you want to unlock you can still get AOKP from jermaine just not from here, whether he is still supporting the rom is an entirely different question
hmmmmm ok i dont know i suppose i could just get root access and keep it as stock then. im going to have to find out how to root this now sigh lol research.. i'll look it in about 3 hours lol
I would highly suggest you root it since if any things happen you can just factory default the tablet and it'll be unrooted
So there's really nothing to loss rooting it
Just make sure after you root your device you backup the root so you don't loss it after you update the prime
lol you lost me after backing up my root. =/
i just tried to use sparkyroot but it doesnt seem to be working. im going to look at other methods.

Right here is the issue. I've changed this thread twice now to keep the clutter away. Seeing I can't unlock my bootloader due to it being a 3 mobile bootloader (If I can please help me out as im struggling to find info) I can't flash CM9? Or even 10 for that matter? This is really frustrating me, I don't have a clue what to do, a lot of the information on bootloaders like mine is very bare and slim and not really helping me or anyone else in my position out very much. I can't root either which is as big a ***** as the bootloader situation....can someone point me in the right direction or just plain tell me nothing that I want is possible?
Further more, roms don't contain bootloaders do they? It's the phone itself? However, saying this, it is possible to flash bootloaders on the motorola defy....would the case not be the same here?
If your bootloader is unlockable then you can not flash custom roms, ie cm9 or cm10.
However you can flash stock roms via flashtool and you can root with a locked bootloader, there are a couple of threads which tell you how to root, here's one

I am also with Three and have a locked BL, but using the guides found in these forums I managed to Root my device and even install MIUI yesterday, but MIUI is not great in my personal opinion so I reverted back to ICS.
There are not many ROMs out there for those of us with Locked BL's and until they find a way to get passed the BL or make more ROMs for us, we are limited to Stock ROMs and as far as I am aware not many of those exist besides MIUI.
Cheers lads! I'm just wondering now if we could take a leaf out of the Motorola Defy's development books. As I said, even with a locked bootloader they were using cm9 and even cm10 now! Unstable due to the old kernels, but still, managed it

All we can do is hope my friend, seems Sony were slow in every regard to develop for this phone and that in turn has limited the progress of external developers, I mean just look at the amount of time it has taken Sony to get ICS out to us and that has impacted others in development.
We are now seeing the FreeXperia Project rolling out builds, though they remain solely for Unlocked BL's, MIUI is a step in the right direction for us, so I see no reason why others for Locked BL's will not appear in due course. Patience is the game when it comes to the Xperia S.
By the way, I have read from a few people that getting the SIM Lock removed does in some instances lead to BL Unlocking ability, I contacted Three and they told me the charge for unlocking the SIM from them via a code is £15 and I believe it gets applied to your bill as a one off fee if you want to try it and see in the service menu if your BL after a reboot shows the ability to be unlocked.

I'm with 3 as well and the first thing I did was to have my xperia s sim unlocked.
This did not unlock the bootloader as I was hoping
Having said that I was able to root the thing using the tutorials in these forums, so I'm pretty happy
Have to say the stock ROM looks quite good and I'd try some other ROMs just for the sake of it
I would try and sim unlock the phone if my bill wasnt horrendous already, they charged me for twitter sending texts to me haha! So sad. But back to the topic, I was just floating around the Motorola Defy forum again and they somehow extracted the bootloader seperately to try and unlock it! I really hope someone looks in to this would be so helpful if someone could extract their own, unlocked BL and we could flash it! ;o
I maybe barking up the wrong tree here but when i had my X10 and was in associated forum. The bootloader was locked and root was difficult.
Some of the devs were in contact with Sony to try and come to some compromise on the security. ( hence un-branded phones now having unlocked boot loaders)
The trouble is...
On branded handsets the bootloaders contain certain information that your network providers don't want you to have access to.
The devs are aware of this and respectively leave the bootloader compromising alone.
This is not saying it can't be done, just saying that out of respect for sony allowing some phones to have unlocked bootloaders those that are locked are being treated to the respect sony asked for.
Of course not all devs worldwide are so respectful so it will be compromised and indeed has been but currently only for sim unlocking.
Of course this post may just be a crock-o-crap and people may already working on workarounds.???
I would guess that for bootloader unlocking your best bet would be a phone unlocking solution like setool or ezsemc but these are not going to be free options and currently not available on the XPS

It was a leak, we need a new leak from Motorola, this was not a hack at all so we can't just reuse something.
First of all, THANK YOU everyone for taking some time to answer every question. I really appreciate it. I have been reading, and reading for hours...my eyes are starting to bleed.
So... there is NO WAY we can get a better Android than the 2.3.5?
My build number says 4.5.1A_SUN_USC_19.0, that means I cannot unlock the bootloader, isn't it?
Is there another way (hack?) to improve the performance of the cellphone? I have root it, just to change some files I couldn't, e.g. the sound of the camera.
And finally... is it THAT bad being stucked on 2.3.5?

The reason I was asking if I was stuck on 2.3.5 was regarding to my build number. I don't know how to conclude it's an ota or not.
You can attempt the Pudding Bootloader unlock, it is unlikely to succeed, but it may be possible. You do risk bricking the device though.

No, thanks .
I assume there is no possible way to tack it back to 2.3.4?

Unlocked bootloader
Well, it appears that I am still the only Photon owner around with 2.3.5 and an unlocked bootloader. Unfortunately mine was some sort of freak accident that it happened. I can run run custom recovery and flash all day long. Unfortunately if I install a ROM with any other version (or maybe it's the kernal) it will not work. It will boot up fine but nothing will connect at all. I've tried almost all of them........
