Hi hoping some one can give me some help on this problem I have with my sIII. I keep getting this error\notification at the bottom of my screen "currently unable to download please try again later" I have installed watchdog to see if I can see where the message is coming from but didn't find any thing. It's apparently in your smart settings or whatever area where you can set data limits for the device. Press the menu button while in there and you should be able to get extra options.

Ok I have data usage & data roaming and restrict backround data.
You want to make sure background data isn't restricted generally, and only turn it off on apps that are eating up your data if you're not on Unlimited.

I wanted to know fro you all out there if the was a way that the 3G will come on when it is needed and then turns it self off after it is done? Is there a setting or and app that i can use? I hate having to turn it on and off when i want to use it. Help me please i am kind of new to android but i am loving it so far. And always thanks for your help.
Ok I guess I am going to be the nice guy here.
To stop apps from constantly pulling data:
On the home screen, go to: Menu > Settings > Wireless Settings > Mobile Network > Uncheck Always on mobile. Than accept the dialogue that pops up that tells you some apps will be angry.
Now if you want to toggle if apps can use data, put the mobile network widget on your home screen. Click it on to allow, click it and keep if off now to not allow data pull.
Hope this is what you are looking for.
I had downloaded JuiceDefender Plus and love the default settings you can choose from. I was wondering if anyone out there uses this app as well and has specific settings setup a certain way to give them the best battery life. My main problem I am having right now is when i use the Balanced setting or any other, if my screen is off and someone sends me a message with something attached, it doesn't download. Even when I turn on the screen and go to open the message, it just keeps saying "Downloading". So i have to have that person resend it after i shut down JuiceDefender. Anyone have any suggestions what I can change to fix it where i can still get my messages with attachments?

try advance mode and let wifi be preferred over 3g or 2g when available and most important disable connectivity temp while screen off
How do we control background data with ICS?
I don't think that there is a straight forward on/off toggle. I don't know if restricting Background Data is the same as turning it off, but to restrict it. Go into settings and under Data Usage hit the menu button and select restrict background data. it'll tell to that you need to set a Mobile Data limit, so set one and try again.
Seems like they really want us to.use data...

What is this mean thought. If I set a limit then I could be without a service when the limit is reached. Is this mean that the background data will stop once the limit is reached or once the limit is set no matter how big or small the back ground data will be stopped if engaged?
On my gingerbread EL29 I could turn it off and I knew because very time I went to the store it asked me to turn it on.
any suggestions on how to turn this off without a limit since I have unlimited everything
Thanks
Hello guys im wondering why this pop-up has recently appeared and keeps appearing alot like 20 times a day

Wifi is not turned on or off
Location is not turned on or off
Location is not switched from battery saver to high location

It doesn't seem to be a message from system software. The feature of WLAN+ doesn't work like that.
Check whether you have installed some malicious app. Phone Manager - Virus scan.
Turn off wifi+ in wifi. Haven't noticed any difference in connection.

It is tho
Cz i discovered that when u press okay it will allow wifi scanning in the location settings to improve accuracy
If u press cancel it wont use it
BUT WHY DOES IT APPEAR?
Like u either turn it on or off no need for it to keep asking me
UPDATE
I talked with huawei and they said they are aware of the issue and are already working on fixing it
Hopefully soon ?*
So whenever I left wifi area or turn off the wifi soon after the mobile data gets automatically turned off, the icon of it shows not just for specific app.
Even when I turn off the data saver, it doesnt help.
This is very bothersome as I will miss alot of stuff.

Anyone experiencing or heard such problem with Huawei Phone? Need help.
Are you talking about missing notifications?
If you enable Developer Options (settings/system/about phone...then press build number 5 times) then in Developer Options there is an option you can tick to always keep mobile data active. I use it for faster network switching and it doesn't have much of an impact on data use or battery drain.
But if you are talking about missing notifications that might not solve your problem.
You want to remove any apps that need timely notifications from battery optomization in the power settings. Make sure after you choose to manually manage the apps that they are allowed to run at startup and remain running in the background. (All 3 options should be allowed).
If that doesn't solve your problem then you might also need to remove Google Play Services from automatic power management since that service is normally responsible for syncing Android phones.
Huawei has more aggressive power management than most Android phones which provides great battery life but also annoys many people because they can miss important notifications.

No, the entire data just cut off after leaving wifi even thou the mobile data was on prior to leaving the wifi spots or just turning off the wifi. Does that make sense? I have had so many different phone this has never happend to me. I even turn off the data saver mode too.

If I turn that option on in dev mode "always leave the mobile data on" even when the wifi is on (even when wlan is active) does that mean it may sometimes suck up my mobile data while wifi is on, i dont want that.

Ok after tons of digging found the problem. a function i have never seen on previous phones.
basically you go to mobile data setting and go to more and then (wlan/mobile switcher) go in there and thats where the problem is.
I now select switch to mobile data.

I don't see that setting. Does this fix the fact that when you use hotpsot the phone is incapable of any data? I can't use hotspot at the same time as data on the phone itself.
