Accidentaly.
I was ready to pay for repair, but service sent me envelope and form to fill with some details including IMEI -they wrote it can be usually found under battery, so.... as they suggested...
i wrote and included a letter - it's silly handset, hard to opened, battery was bolted! and under battery was kind of glue.. it wrote it was all difficult, but fortunately I managed and it is not user friendly handset with such hard to open back cover.
after 3 weeks I got handset back repaired, reprogrammed and they thanked for using their service
try your luck

Yes, I f****d the screen. And I said I couldn't find the box, so I backed myself with their standard suggestion.
Better! I had to send copy of contract on which there is IMEI, but I just said what they wrote, althought there is no IMEI under RAZR battery.
Well. It took 3 weeks, they didn't questioned.

Play idiot sometimes instead of being smart and full of knowedge. You may benefit.
I think they have standard procedures/papers except iPhone (separate phone line option) for all phones, and Motorola pays for accepted repairs, so that's why it happened. And I'll tell you more.. I didn't have correct size of T-scredriver and I pressed to strong battery bolt and it screen cracked barely visibly in such a place that no single pixel ever appeared again. I did because I never read before that battery must be charged before flashing. And i had to bypass battery.
On they customer helpline I told the true, but they didn't record and i was lucky.

Someone's talking out of their ass again. There are two publicly known IT forensics companies (one from Sweden and one from Russia) which provide the LEOs with the software to obtain evidence from the locked phones.
I'm sure there are more companies like that we just don't know about.
I'll try to crack it in return for $2,000, $10,000 if I succeed.
I'll need a signed and notarized letter of agreement authorizing me to try.
Is USB debugging enabled on this device? If so, cut the fee in half.

Yeah, but they will only retrieve individual emails, contacts, or other data as specified very clearly eg, all email from [email protected] to [email protected], sent between 12:00 UTC and 13:00 UTC on December 3, 2011.
They do that to avoid civil actions from the owner.
I won't retrieve ANY data. I'll just try to crack the passcode. No civil action will make it past discovery, but there is still risk of expenses. Hence the sizeable fee.
My daughter has a smart phone and I control the gmail.
I have the password for the gmail associated with the phone she does not.
She has another account on the phone. She can set a password but it will be unlocked on command or I'll just unlock it through gmail later.
This is not something you set up after, you do it before. I pay the bill, therefore, it is my phone.
But this thread sounds like something nefarious.

You should be fine if you are in warranty.. You will get either a replacement or a refurbish one, as long as it was not physically damaged or the water sensor has not been tripped.

Hi there Folks....
My SGS3 Pebble Blue suddenly went dead. I leave my phone overnight with 17% battery charge, I dont remember well if the wifi was on, but in the morning it was completely dead, no button respond at all. Thinking that the battery has been emptied, i plug in the charger, but the phone doesnt respond, not even the LED nor the battery display that is charging. So, I leave it on the charger for a couple of hours, like 3 or 4 hours but still its dead.
My SGS3 is running at Omega ROM v34, everything is working fine before the incident, no lags, no system crashes. It is made in vietnam and I got it from a local network provider in Phillippines.
What can i possibly do to revive my SGS3? I could not send it to Samsung for warranty because, first it is running in custom firmware, next is warranty is completely void because i have already replaced my LCD Screen last month. I dropped my phone and the Screen was damaged so I ordered a screen replacement and I myself replaced the damaged screen.
Please help, I have no idea what happened....
Sounds like the S3 "Sudden Death" issue that was in the media some days ago (so the chance is high that it is a physical defect and you can't do much against it...).
Try a google "Galaxy S3 Sudden Death" search and you should get tons of informations about the issue. As far as i know Samsung Support repairs/replaces damaged devices without trouble.
Looks like they replace the mainboard on those damaged devices. Some people are saying that it might be some sort of planned obsolescence that kicks in to early.
That would also explain why Samsung is not talking about those issues at all and repairing/replacing damaged devices without further asking.

Have sent in the unit yesterday to the service center. They have checked the download mode and asked me if I did some rooting and I said no.
From the download mode they cannot see the product name but there is no custom binary download numbers too so they said it is covered by warranty and just this morning, I called them up to follow up and they said they already ordered a new motherboard. I asked again if there are no problems with regards to the warranty and they have confirmed that it is indeed covered. Hopefully, in a week I'll get the repaired unit

So have you gotten your phone back yet? Which service center did you bring your unit to?
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for Verizon that I ran Casual on unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and put a custom Rom on. Then it all when to heck!! Loaded CleanRom on it but didn't like the Storage and SD card thing so I Flashed the changeup but apparantley I missed something in there becuse it wasn't right it would put apps on the sd card memory but pictures on the internal memory. Said I was out of space for updates and so on. Couldnt get it fixed and flashed Mean Bean to it. It worked for 3 days and began boot looping and I tried factory restore and It says something about efs files E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid Argument). Sent it to repair shop in Irving Tx. they have had it 2 weeks and they say if they can't fix it by Monday, there going to ship it back to me, still broken. Can this be fixed or do I have a $600.00 paperweight

Thank you very much for the link, looks pretty complicated, I have only rooted 3 phones. 2 Motorola Droids 1 was an X2 and an LG Spectrum. This is very complicated stuff. The shop that had my phone is sending it back to me tomorrow, no charge they say the only way it can be fixed is under warranty, which I have voided by unlocking the bootloader and rooting it.

This is really not a very complicated procedure. Everything you would have to do you can look up and find out how to do it via Google. Its better than having to pay $60 to have it JTAGed. I'm not even sure if JTAGing it would be the way to go seeing as how it giant hard bricked and the steps to fix it are fairly explained in that thread. If you cant do what the thread explains find a techie family member or friend, show them the thread and ask them to do it.

Romotx - You jumped into the pool when you started flashing, but then you didn't want to learn how to swim. Did you even try typing the commands in the linked thread? That's how it works you type commands carefully and when you get an error you look that error up and try it again. Got a new error, look that one up, and so on. The more you do, the more help you get here. But it sounds like you were not very careful to start with to bork your phone that bad.
It's too late for you, but for others, when something goes wrong take a step back and take a breath. Do some reading, make sure you understand where you went wrong, and what and why you are doing next to your phone. What ever you did should have been an easy fix at some earlier point in time.
But good luck in getting your phone repaired.

Yes and that link that was posted earlier tells you exactly how to fix it. You just don't want to use it. If you can't get into CWM or TWRP try it on what shows up when you boot into recovery, for Christ's sake it's even telling you to use ADB commands which is exactly what that thread tells you to do. If you had pages attention you would know that.
Instead of taking it to a "shop" that obviously doesn't know its ass from a hole in the ground you should listen to the people in the community who have been through this before.

We did help you! You now know that you don't take your phone to a "repair shop"! Lol.
But seriously, listen to dude above, or wait for droidstyle or kintwofan to pop in. They'll answer the same way they do every other time this happens. Search for "bricked note 2 xda" and add "kintwofan" or "droidstyle" to the mix (WILDCARD) and see how many hits you get. Doesn't matter if the symptoms aren't exact - TRY IT.
What bad can happen? You gonna brick your phone? Hell, it may even start working again!?

Its very odd that it was advertised recently then, hmmm I have to see what I can find out.
As for the option that someone else linked earlier, have you tried it yet? It seems like the perfect solution to your problem. Granted you can't get into recovery the screen it shows you tells you to use ADB which is exactly what the fix uses.
As for beating you over the head, what the hell do you expect? You come asking for advice and then don't take ANY of it and act like we are all fools.

I never acted like anybody was a fool. I have been lurking and reading for years on here. I respect everyone's advice here! I have a $600.00 phone that I screwed up,yes thats what you have to do with Verizon to keep your unlimited data plan that they grandfathered you into and now when you want to upgrade it's pay full price for the phone or you get 2Gb. plan, and I don't feel confident enough to fix it like you guys suggest. I have never used ADB, I have never had a brand of phone where you could unlock the bootloader, I'm not a command and scripts and whatever voodoo you guys do to these phones.kind of guy. I can build computers and I have rooted and put roms on 2 other phones. I can't afford to buy another phone and in this backwoods hick town when you talk to anybody about rooting a phone they have no idea what the heck your even talking about.
