You should be fine if you are in warranty.. You will get either a replacement or a refurbish one, as long as it was not physically damaged or the water sensor has not been tripped.

When a device had problems and is sent back to the shop, they fix it and sell it again, that why refurbished stuff is cheaper.

Branded firmwares

Any one got the ftf for uk tmobile, looks like my neo v needs warranty work. I have a nandroid but on restoring it is prompting for an update that fails leaving the phone unusable, I have tried generic google searches but not sure of the file name.

I don't think they'll check if you run T-Mobile, or Generic. Just relock the bootloader flash stock firmware with flashtool and choose the repair option in pc companion. That will do.
Unfortunately they do, as tmobile always use a branded bootsplash, if it doesn't show they don't deal. How is pccompanion going to fix a broken button......

Flame not intended, generic wont do, the store claim the handset is not one of theirs and the home button has failed, handset is only two months old.

I just think he wrongly understood what sdk wanted to say.
Well return the phone 2 month old so what if it don't have T-Mobile fw the key is broken flashing the phone won't do that unless you messed up/ try reflash a rom
I have had middle key not respond from flashing rom
What u mean broken
Or not working?
Anyway 2 month old why even ask I would of just returned it under my 365 day UK user warranty that all products have here
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
That is the point, Tmobile store will not accept it's theirs due to wrong bootsplash so will not send it for repair.
Several flashes and wipes have not revived the button, so must be hardware.

Your from the UK why you putting up with that crap kill the battery n talk it back refuse to take it home ,make them send it to repair department
And don't give me that about they won't take it back if it has a broken button its there obligation to repare or replace for 12 month believe me mate
Iv sent back bootlader open phones with fn cm7 on man with screen leak if it won't turn on how can they know what boot splash is like
If the handset is dameged its nothing to do with rom
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
I don't know how it works in the UK, but I could just let my phone being picked up and send directly to Sony's repair centre, without even contacting the shop.
Why not start flashing your phone then half way through pull the lead out so it's bricked and then take it back ? Then you can tell them at t-mobile that it happened while updating through pcc ;-)

Sorted now spoke to T-Mobile by phone and sending back bypassing the store

[Q] SGS3 Suddenly Died... What happened??

Hi there Folks....
My SGS3 Pebble Blue suddenly went dead. I leave my phone overnight with 17% battery charge, I dont remember well if the wifi was on, but in the morning it was completely dead, no button respond at all. Thinking that the battery has been emptied, i plug in the charger, but the phone doesnt respond, not even the LED nor the battery display that is charging. So, I leave it on the charger for a couple of hours, like 3 or 4 hours but still its dead.
My SGS3 is running at Omega ROM v34, everything is working fine before the incident, no lags, no system crashes. It is made in vietnam and I got it from a local network provider in Phillippines.
What can i possibly do to revive my SGS3? I could not send it to Samsung for warranty because, first it is running in custom firmware, next is warranty is completely void because i have already replaced my LCD Screen last month. I dropped my phone and the Screen was damaged so I ordered a screen replacement and I myself replaced the damaged screen.
Please help, I have no idea what happened....
Sounds like the S3 "Sudden Death" issue that was in the media some days ago (so the chance is high that it is a physical defect and you can't do much against it...).
Try a google "Galaxy S3 Sudden Death" search and you should get tons of informations about the issue. As far as i know Samsung Support repairs/replaces damaged devices without trouble.
Looks like they replace the mainboard on those damaged devices. Some people are saying that it might be some sort of planned obsolescence that kicks in to early.
That would also explain why Samsung is not talking about those issues at all and repairing/replacing damaged devices without further asking.

Also post this in the s3 philippines thread. I been monitoring when this thing will start manifesting on our shores. You're the first one from philippines that reported this problem here or that I have read.

Unfortunately my S3 died on me as well on the eve of new year!
I'm waiting for the holidays to be over so I can send it to the Samsung service center.
Hopefully, they will cover the repairs with the warranty and they will not notice that my phone is rooted and running on custom software..

Does it mean that my mobo died even if I can still boot in download mode?
Thank you!

Yes... To double check... Go to download mode and see whether brand name ''i9300''is there... If no, pit partition messed up... Confirm motherboard dead..

Have sent in the unit yesterday to the service center. They have checked the download mode and asked me if I did some rooting and I said no.
From the download mode they cannot see the product name but there is no custom binary download numbers too so they said it is covered by warranty and just this morning, I called them up to follow up and they said they already ordered a new motherboard. I asked again if there are no problems with regards to the warranty and they have confirmed that it is indeed covered. Hopefully, in a week I'll get the repaired unit

[Q] Repairs

Dropped my phone at work today and the screen is completely trashed.
If I send my phone in for a repair do I need to flash it back to 100% stock?
I'll be paying out of pocket anyway since I don't have insurance or anything on it. Will LG care?

[Q] How do I know my galaxy s3 mother board has changed?

My mobile's motherboard is damaged(it is in warranty)..problem is if I sent to service centre how do I know that it is changed or just temporarily repaired..coz there are 3 to 4 service centres in hyderabad city..I asked one the service centre to replace my product coz it is damaged in fist week itself..he intelligently repaired the motherboard temporarily(instead of replacing it, so that he need not replace the product) and said sorry sir it was not a motherboard problem it is some connector problem and it was replaced..but im really worried.. now its temporarily ok..but in future it will create so many problems..I have to run around service centres and that to I will have no freedom of using custom roms(this is the main reason I bought s3..so please guys CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KNOW THAT MY MOTHERBOARD IS REPLACED or any app that can tell my mobile's motherboard model no. ..PLZZ HELP ME..

If you have a backup of your EFS from the old mainboard and the new mainboard then compare the nv_data.bin files @ 0x00180000 if this data is different then the mainboard has been changed. If you still have the old mainboard and your taking it into service and want to know if its been changed while in service, then *#03# and compare these numbers, is most simple method.

Technically speaking, what data (and from where) is that command reading?
If you have one of the bad boards, aren't they obliged to change it anyway? If you say that your having issues that software cannot fix then I can't see them simply sending it back

I think I have this problem too.
I can't flash any ROM in my phone. One time I tried to flash a ROM via mobile Odin (I have done it many times before) and it get stuck and i has not able to enter either download mod or recovery so I send the mobile to repair and they "repair" it under warranty. But actually I have the same problem and when I try to flash a ROM with pc odin it also gets stuck...at "Get PIT for mapping.." I don't know what to do.. They should have replaced the motherboard but they didn't.

Soft Bricked

Hello Xda I've soft bricked my S3 I can access download mode.
I got into this problem cause I flashed Supernexus it worked fine for a few days. Until I went into bootloop and couldn't do anything I couldn't access recovery so I just flashed the stock rom and now the phone only boots into download mode and can be viewed by odin also it says on the phone please connect to kies in recovery. I done this put the phone doesn't get recognised any ideas and help will be appreciated
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda app-developers app
if you can't access recovery after reflashing a stock ROM, send it to service
and ask for help in the help section, not here
They won't help because its rooted and stuff also i have a slight crack so sending it into service will cost me like 200$ to repair
What build are you using? Looks like I'm moving away from that ROM 0.o

yeah, the other option is to throw the phone away. your call.
or you can also be doing something wrong.
or you can hope for me to be wrong.
i've been searching around an they calling this the ''sudden death syndrome'' and can happen at any time to a select few all you have to do is send it into service and get it repaired for free but i can't because i've got a slight hairline crack so my warranty is void and they are asking for around £150 for repairing this phone
You have a software problem not hardware. The crack has nothing to do with that. I had a crack on my S1 but sent it to service for new USB port - no problems.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I've rang them again after you said this and said sorry we can't do anything until u repair the screen by us or yourself. Also they said we can't guarantee that the problem I got was not from my crack so they said no to repairing for free they asking for 135£ to repair the crack
Then they'll replace the motherboard for free
