[Q] Earpiece Speaker Not Working - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Seems like my streak's earpiece speaker has given way.
Using earphones/speaker mode it works just fine. However, when trying to place/receive calls using the earpiece speakers, can't hear a single thing.
Tried installing different ROMs to see if it's a software problem as well, but still doesn't work.
Has anyone attempted to (successfully) replace the earpiece speakers before?

I was having a similar problem. The earpiece would intermittently go silent. I couldn't hear anyone, but they could hear me. If I switched to speakerphone or handsfree, I could hear them fine. Someone mentioned here or on Modaco that he had rectified the same issue by just re-seating the earpiece. Apparently the problem was caused by a loose contact. I'm yet to try this since the problem hasn't been occurring too often off late. I'll probably look into it after picking up a new 8GB Class 10 SD card to replace the internal SD card with. I figure that'll save me the trouble of having to open up the phone twice. Kill two birds with one stone!

[Q] Callers can't hear me. Help!

I am as of recent having a call volume problem. I can hear them and they can barely hear me. My only work around has been using speakerphone or if you can believe this plugging in a regular set of stereo headphones (no mic. I lost the headphones that came with the phone) and speaking into the regular mic hole on the bottom of the phone. Then for whatever reason my levels go up radically and they can hear me. I have tried all the "service mode" temporary code tweaks without any luck. I have rebooted just in case I had f'd up any of the settings to put them back to default. Any ideas people? What other info might you need for me to isolate this problem. I am running xipher's j16 rom and it was working fine before. Also, it's obviously not a hardware issue or the mic wouldn't work better in speakerphone or headphone mode.
anybody?
Jeez. Thanks guys
Dude I had a phone that did that I had to get a replacement its the microphone
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
pinky over the mic?
I'm being serious... I have done it.
try another rom just to be sure. Any misbehaving apps?

Weird issues with mic volume *only in calls*

Hello,
I recently got a Galaxy S II i9100M model unlocked, and am trying to use a Rogers (Canadian) SIM card in it.
The phone works great, and I am love the phone. However, I am having a weird issue with calls that I am hoping someone can shed some light on.
The microphones on the phone work OK - I can use the Voice Record app just fine, and do speech recognition through Google's built in app and Vlingo just fine.
However, anytime I am on a phonecall, my outgoing voice can be hardly heard. I can hear the other person just fine but they can hardly hear me. It's like the mic volume is turned down or something is put infront of it when I call only. I've even tried using a wired headphone/mic combo to see if that would work, and no luck with that either!
Does anyone know why the mic would work fine, except on calls? I've already tried this fix with no luck.
I am still running the stock Bell firmware. Could the firmware somehow be detecting a different network and not letting me call? Should I try a different firmware?
If it's a hardware issue, I wouldn't be able to use the mic for voice recording would I?
As a bit of an update, I've tried new firmware, and still nothing.
Most recording apps and the speaker phone use the upper mic. I think the only thing that uses the lower mic is regular phone calls. Could be the rubber housing on the lower mic isn't seated properly. You'll either have to try a bit of phone surgery yourself, or take it to service to look at.
Thanks ctomgee. How would an external headset be affected then?
Do you know where I can find the info on fixing the rubber housing?
Oh, an EXTERNAL headset has the same issue? I missed that part. Hmm... That's weird.

Atrix speaker ear/speakerphone

Hopefully this is in the right area. I am having an issue with my atrix speaker. My speakerphone stopped working about two weeks ago, I noticed this when listening to music. I was temporarily fixing the issue by twisting my phone a little. Now my earpiece is not working, I also have to twist the phone to get the earpiece to work. Anybody have any solutions?
I've been having weird issues with both the internal and external speaker. Most of the time I have to use speakerphone to answer it.
My solution was to use a bluetooth device.
I can't even use my external speaker because it cuts out. I took apart some of my phone, I can't figure out what the external speaker connects to or how it makes contact. And if I am reading different guides correctly the external speaker and ear speaker aren't connected on the same flex cable. The part you speak into works and so does the headphone jack.

[Q] Can't hear calls through earpiece anymore

At some point last week while out of the country I was using Groove IP to make wi-fi calls (as I often do) but the earpiece volume started messing up and I couldn't hear things through it anymore and started using headsets and the speakerphone for calls. So I removed that app and started using Talkatone but the condition remained.
Now that I am back home and removed Talkatone as well, I find that I can't hear anything out of the earpiece on regular phone calls either. Bluetooth is fine and earbuds are fine and the speakerphone is fine, but I can't hear a thing through the phone's earpiece (and yes, the call volume is all the way up).
I tried reinstalling both apps and checked the various settings but can't find anything wrong. I also did a soft-reset but no help.
Anyone have any ideas, aside from a hard-reset? This is my second One X+ in six weeks and really hope it isn't a hardware problem.
Thanks.
Did you ever solve this problem? Experiencing the same thing on an HTC One X+ I was given. Speakerphone works fine, but the in-call speaker is totally silent.
My son had an iPhone 4s that had this problem. It was rumored being too forceful with the headphone plug broke the jack to board connection and a signal trace to the earpiece. The phone was replaced under warranty.
Good chance it's physical damage but unless you have a soldering setup for fine work you have few options.

No sound/Static noise After inserting headphones!

I don't know what the heck had happened today. When i inserted headphone to my Phone and tried to play the music, No sound is heard instead of that, a loud static noise is heard which is just like the old CRT TVs and radios in early 90%! removing headphones doesn't solve the issue. However no static noise is heard from the external speaker. Logcat shows nothing. Only rebooting solves the issue and then it comes back when inserting the headphone.. The device was running fine with CyanogenMod 13 for a month and suddenly these issues started. Any help shall be appreciated. Thank you.
