Im really just getting into this rooting stuff and dont know alot about the tech stuff but im studying it and trying to learn. My question is do apps like z4 root or gingerbreak work for the fascinate? Or are there other simple ways to root. I cant seem to find anything. If there is can someone point me to instructions. I really want to root my fascinate.

Look at the noob guide thats stickied in general and just keep reading around until you feel comfortable with doing it yourself don't jump in without knowing how to do it

Alright will do, thanks
What is the best way to root the atrix? Root so I can install a custom ROM.
you need to unlock the bootloader to install roms.
Also thread reported. Didn't search and wrong forum.

Best way is doing a little research before wasting your time opening useless threads in wrong forums

first off i want to know why you think im in the wrong forum? This is the atrix dev forum. Im in the right section. Report all you want. I asked a simple question. After looking through all the threads I couldnt find the best way. Im asking for the best way not a guide.

First this is the dev forum and your not a dev nor dose your thread lead to anything that is under development or hasn't been developed the hell out of to where its not relevant anymore, second you asked a question >,> there is a Q&A section for I don't know questions and answers <,< last you admit that you found multiple guides in your last bit so.... do tell why is this development with over 400 posts..... Id like to see you come up with a good explanation.....
Are any of you guys mods?? Let the mods do their jobs without adding more useless posts telling the kid how dumb he is

FFS, you could have just answered the dudes question with one post without bumping the thread to the top all day long.
Now, THE ANSWER IS: there is no best way. It either works or it doesn't (either successfully gives your root or doesn't).
Having said that, the most bullet proof way according to people's feedback is the preinstal method, BUT... CWM method and gingerbreak also successfully worked for me both on 2.2.2 and on 2.3.4.
p.s. People on here are right. You only create new threads in Development section if you developed something. You could have just left a post in one of the root threads, or opened a question thread in Q/A forums.
Cheers.

Rooting isn't required to install a custom ROM. Unlocking is.
Anywhoo, the dev section isn't a questions forum. Before you post, read the stickies.
Infraction given to OP, thread closed.
So I'm obviously a fascinate noob. I'm going through the basic "how to root" manual, but I'm confused. I want to get on the latest MIUI, but I don't know if I should be on froyo or gingerbread. If I'm supposed to get gingerbread, how do I get it and root? I just want to be on the latest MIUI and the best kernels for it.
Great place to start is HERE in the general sections and HERE in the FAQ section.
You can also search HERE in the DroidForums.net site
Read, read, read. And when you think you know it, then ask questions and read some more.
Oh, Welcome aboard.
Thanks! I'm rooted and on MIUI! Feel free to close this thread.

These kinda questions will be better served by Google, so search for it with there and you will get loads of guides and tutorial . You can even search xda for the same

Im asking here because the best developers are here.
I dont want detail tutorial only programs and few steps to start.

Best bet is to check google still (it has tutorials and/or how to begin) or possibly contacting some devs who MIGHT be willing to help. Most devs dont even really check out Q/A section.
So I just got my S4 last week and so I was curious about what kind of ROMs and other mods are available for it. Any recommendations ?
Also, can somone point me in the direction of a good guide on rooting this phone.

A lot of ROMs and mods... Look around.
The root guide is a sticky. Did you read anything before posting this?
And this is the wrong section for your post.

Yes I did read about some of the roms and mods. I was just looking for some recommendations on which ones to try out. And I musta missed the sticky on rooting. Didnt think it was a big deal to just ask.
And sorry, I didnt realize this was the wrong section. Roms are part of development and so I thought it was the right subforum. My bad.

Admin will move it but any questions non rom specific go in general questions... Any way read the sticky before posting as to not get beat up... If you want to test the waters and Have not tried any roms yet id say try bonestock its me7 based and very very stable. . When you get bored you can start flashing the others see what you like. . Good luck
