Using Slim ICS and want to flash back cm9 ? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since the Slim ICS using cwm touch 5.x.x and it can not simply install the cm zip , it show status 7 error. I have tried to replace cwm touch with the older version of cwm , I use rom manager but it does not work.
How to flash back cm9?
Thank you

try to flash glitch recovery and then try cm9

Apart from glitches, which do you prefer? I have been very impressed with ICS slim, but haven't tried CM9. Would you recommend it? I always did like most of CM's enhancements in prior versions, but with the Vibrant aging faster and faster, a 'slim' ICS ROM seems to work well for it

[Q] Touch screen does not work with custom rom

Sorry for my bad henglish but i need help
I have a serious problem with the touch screen and custom rom. With the CM9, CM7 and MIUI, and its kernel, touchscreen does not work! But if I use the stock rom and kernel the touch screen works, or if I use the official ICS kernel beta with ICS Rom: KA15 Team Ice Cream or Sony Xperia Hybryd rom or ICS official Sony touch screen works ...
So I think that the touch screen works only with the official kernel!
Here's how I do:
1 - flash with fastboot kernel
2-cwm go to recovery and wipe data / factory reset, and Dalvik cache partition
3-zip file with the flash custom roms
4-reboot
But with CM9, CM7, Miui and their kernels touch screen does not respond
Please Help!
Try to use KA1x kernel with miui/CM roms; Maybe it works.
Could you give me the link of this kernel?
I have used PwnKernel 1.6 with miui and SETweaked android 2.3.x and PwnKernel ICS for KA15 and it worked very well.
PwnKernel 1.6: click
PwnKernel ICS(no bluetooth): click
Inside the zips you will find the boot.img(kernel) and Pwnkernel-modules. For wifi and bluetooth(BT only for pwnk 1.6) you have to install them under recovery after flashing the kernel.
If they don't work, take a look here; it's a list with kernels and roms for neo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316394
I have used 1.6 Pwnkernel with CM7.1 but the touch screen does not work the same!
In my opinion the problem is another, looks like this user has solved the same problem but with a ZTE phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKO9flwApD0. I tried doing the same thing but my Neo does not work without batteries, then the user updating the video wrote that he found a better way to solve with a fixed kernel. I also tried the kernel FXP but the problem returns! is very strange but I can not find solutions!
maybe it's depends on hardware, maybe your phone has other touchscreen (like there was with SE X8)
Trust me the stock Rom is much faster than many others. I've give up on trying any android 2.x based roms and the ICS ones are, at least for now, laggy and/or buggy. Don't feel bad if you can't solve this problem
Use the fxp kernel provided in the rom and download the latest cm7.2
Pwn kernel will give problems for cm7 and miui.
And since miui is based on cm7 and cm9 ...they share the same bugs...if you are facing dead portion of screen at the bottom in landscape mode...then only latest fxp kernel can help.
And if the whole screen is non functional ...then there is something wrong with your flashing...and it is obviously kernel related.
Sent from my MT11i using XDA
U should 1st flash the .64 baseband coz cm7/9 n miui need .64 baseband to work properly
Sent from my MT11i using XDA
I have flashed .64 firmware official, then i have flashed kernel included in the zip file of CM7.1.0.1, then i have format and wipe everything and flashed rom, but Touch doesn't work!!
Same thing with CM9!
I do not know what to invent to make it work!
I have flashed the official SE beta Ics kernel and everything works! means that the flash is correct. Right?

How to install CM9 and X Kernel on LWW?

Hi, I just want to know how to install CyanogenMod 9 on my Live, and X Kernel. I can't consider myself as a noob, since I have already flashed SE phones before, and now that I have my first smartphone (WT19i) I'm very happy with it and I've already root it and installed CWM. But the problem is I have never installed a Rom before, and I don't know how does they work, but I saw a video of a Live with CM9 installed and I really liked it, so I want to know how to do it and install X Kernel too. Has someone already try CM9? I would like to hear how is it going for you.... Thanks.
No u cant. Currently the xkernel only supports gb roms. Cm9 needs its own kernel.
And u probably need to update baseband too.
Ok thanks for your quick reply. So if I have ICS Stock Rom installed, what Kernel would you recommend me to save more battery life?
And is there a better ICS Rom than the Stock one? Because I would like to try something new..
Only stock or stock based rom will give best battery life.
Last time I try cm9 it got horrible battery life. But that was weeks ago. Hearing good thing about latest fxp cm9 126.
My personal favorite and daily driver is muiv4, with my own kernel. Miuiv4 is beautiful and got many cool feature that I need. But still a little bit battery drainer tho.
In the end it depends on your needs.
Want battery saver, use stock or custom rom based on stock.
Want blazing fast rom use cm9.
Want beautiful elegant rom use miuiv4.
is cyanogenmod9 has its built in stock kernel? or i will install kernel cyanogenmo9?

You need to install cyanogenmod kernel by fxp or the one provided in the zip file
It's a boot.img and the easiest way to flash it is using flashtool...
How to install custom roms/kernels is in my signature...

Downgrade from CM9 to CM7 problem

I recently installed CM9 on my phone but I want to downgrade because I think CM7 is better, for performance, stability and most of all, apps and games compatibility. I'm a gamer so it's really annoying a lot of games with high quality graphics don't work with ICS and with gingerbread works pretty well. But the problem is that I flash CM9 kernel (the one that comes with the ROM "boot.img") before flashing cm9 rom, and now to downgrade, what i did is put the cm7 rom and gapps.zip on sd card, the do the wipes, install zip and selected cm7 rom, then gapps, then wipe again and reboot. But it's stuck in cm7 bootloop..... what can I do? Please help :/

Problem with ext2internalsd mod on verizon note 2

I was trying a new rom, Liquid Rom 2.3, so I try to run the ext2internalsd mod on stock kernel and matrix kernel and is not working. I downloaded again and tried with no luck. Also, opened SManager and opened as scrip/executable and saved with no luck too. I really want to use this rom, but if I can't use the mod I'll have to go back to a stock rom. Help?
Sd swap only works with tw roms and liquid is aosp so it wont work.

[Q] Updating To JB Roms

So right now I'm running Task650s AOKP with Siyah Kernel, but an old version, thats still Android 4.0.4. In addition, I only have CWM 5. A lot of the KK ROM threads say that CWM 6 is required (and some JB ones imply the same thing, or tha I need JB bootloaders), but the one I want to flash (PACMan) doesn't have such a warning, but I'm still a bit apprehensive. Will I be fine if I just wipe, flash PACMan + GApps and reboot? Or is there an intermediary step I need like flashing a new kernel, and if so which one do I need?
Thanks guys

Well pacman isn't based on kitkat so I think you're good to go, the newest nightlies for that are still based on jellybean right? Or has it changed? I haven't downloaded one in a like two weeks.

Yes, you will be fine, as long as you install a JB kernel first (either STI or AJK 4.9 AOSP). I would suggest you install Milestone 1 (the download link is labeled PAC Release), instead of the nightly. Nightlies have a reputation for being finicky at times, so if you want stability you'd be better off sticking with known stable releases.
And don't forget to flash the gapps either, or you'll run into other problems.
