Hey. I just noticed if you press the clip grabber back and open it as far as possible it gets caught and almost looks like a kickstand but doesn't work like one. I am new to otterbox is this typical of all of them and what's the purpose? Thanks.

Yes its a kickstand I use mine daily more than the kickstand that's made on the phone
I didn't think it would work, but it does work as a kickstand. I had to use more force than I thought to put the phone into the holster face out, then I locked the clip into the open position and turned it slightly and what do you know...
Cool thing to know, but I don't think they designed it to be a kick stand...
Thanks for sharing

Eh it works but only in 1 certain way. Also does it matter if the screen is faced inwards or outwards? I don't think so but I could be wrong?

LOL Honestly I thought my clip was just stuck haha oh man thanks for pointing this out.
Sweet Betsy, damn near felt like I was going to destroy it, trying to undo the kickstand mode.

No. It is slightly harder to get it into the holster face out but I have done it a few times.

Actually it's a lock to keep the clip open to make it easier to slip the clip under your belt.

Great review
Here is what it looks like
I went to my Best Buy but they didnt have the Otterbox yet.. I had already preordered one on Amazon.. Does it still have a protector built in for the camera? Also can you take a picture of the phone on its side vs the case on its side?
No it does not

Can you post a side by side comparison of the phone with the case and the phone without?

I'm surprised the defender has a slot for the kickstand. I think the OG Evo did not have one.

The Otterbox Defender for the OG had it's own plastic kickstand that covered the phone's kickstand.
I am surprised too that the LTE's defender case uses the phone's kickstand.
I would have liked to have seen a rubber cover, similar to the port covers, over the top of the kickstand.

Sorry it took a while for me to post these pics but here they are
here is a better quality
Thanks for the pictures!
How does the phone feel with the case on it? It looks bulky as hell. XD
looks huge. all these cases are friggin huge, how can they fit in your pocket comfortably.
yeah it does but I need it because I do have the habbit of dropping my phone alot
its bulky just waiting for the commuter to release might want to get that as well
I batter my phones a lot being a firefighter. They go in pockets with a ton of stuff in them. I always get the defender in case if I drop it from the aerial when doing events or something (which I have done and I do believe the case has saved my phone) plus it comes with the belt holster that doesn't come with any other OB case.
The rubber is new and better imo its not the lint sucking rubber from defenders past the port covers work better also

They didn't have the Otterbox when I picked up my phone yesterday.
I went to the same Best Buy today with my Buddy to pick up his and they had them in stock.
Got them to give it to me for $40.
I like the bulk it adds.
The phone felt so Fragile to me and now it feels like a tank!
The only downfall the Kickstand is hard to access.
so like everyone else I also got the free blue silicone cell phone case for my LTevo in the mail shortly after getting my LTevo. I put it on my phone the day i got it and have not taken it off until today. I noticed when i took it off the silicone gel case made the back plastic part of the phone VERY rough, almost sticky. has anyone else had an issue with this???
I think calling the EVO LTE "LTevo" is lame.

I've been using the blue silicone case since I got it and it has not caused this issue for me. Sorry. You could try going to Sprint and swapping it for the gray Body Glove case the were also sending people.

I haven't, but I wish they'd have sent me a black case instead of the blue
I got it I'm kind of mad my friend said it made the red look pink lol but I am gonna buy one anyway sprint disappoints with this although a free case is a free case
Edit also no that did not happen to mine ..

sounds like there might be some release agent still stuck on the case, wash the thing with warm soapy water and it shouldn't do that anymore.

I got a gray hard case with a built in kick stand, it if actually pretty nice. The kick stand allows you to stand the phone up 3 ways. I am very pleased with sprint for this, something they didn't have to do they did..that means allot in the days of companies like Verizon charging 300+ for their newest cell phones just because people will pay for it. Sprint only charged $200 then something unexpected happened and they sent their customers a case for the troubles .. That just shows how much they care about taking care of customers.

I don't use cases on my devices usually, but I find myself nervous about dropping my EVO because of how large it is. I'm glad I got the grey one because I might actually use it where if it was blue and sticky silicone I never would.

Just received the active, super nice case. I like how it covers/seals the buttons. Buttons still have great feel. Inner cover is nice, not as hard and slick as tpu, and not as sticky as silicone/gel. Give you a great grip on the phone. No worries now.
Just wanted to share my story with everyone yesterday while I was on a bike ride my bicycle I was hit by a car and I had my phone mounted on my handlebars, I went flying and snapped my arm gotta pretty serious concussion. my phone went flying absolutely nothing wrong with it all I love this case!

Jesus, you alright hehe? I got the Commuter Series, and dropped it from about 10ft off my Step Ladder at work. I put my phone in a Sandwich Baggy, for added protection from dust as well. But it hit real hard, and the phone was just fine. It collects lint and such from your pocket (Which really drives me crazy) but i bought it for protection. Not for fashion. And it does its job well!!
Me being the nerd I am, it was the first thing I asked the police was if my phone was OK and the cop was like "its fine, good thing you bought the otterbox kid"

Glad you and your phone are ok. I just bought the Commuter the other day from Amazon, it should be here this week. I was looking at the thread about the bent phone and I looked at mine and noticed mine had a bit of a bend to it as well. I've been using a TPU case since I got the phone, I figured the Otterbox might add a bit of structural stability to keep it from getting worse. I loved the Commuter on my OG EVO but I never got one for my 3D because I didn't like the design of it. The LTE version looks good and I've seen a lot of good reviews on it so I'm going back to it.

That sounds awful! Except for the part about the case protecting your phone. I had a bike accident when I was 8 where I hit a car and suffered a concussion. I'm pretty sure that was before cell phones were around.
Wow! Forget the phone, lmao. Glad you're ok! I broke my foot about two years ago. You'll appreciate your arm in a whole new light once you're healed. I have the Defender too - great case.
BTW are you going after the driver? Did the police determine they were negligent?
Glad you are still around to post this!
I tried to search and look for this issue but I couldn't find it.
Got my phone back in July, love it, works great. But my kick stand is loose. I never used it alot, but its loose. If I hold my phone top facing up, the kick stand falls. Its really loose. Can I fix this somehow or do you think sprint will do anything? Don't really mees it I just don't want it to be flopping around. I was thinking about gluing it. Any info would be great!

That should be a relatively easy fix for your local sprint store... And should be covered under warranty (if applicable)

There is a silver nut that controls the tightness of the kickstand. If you can tighten that it will fix your issue.
