[Q] rooting method - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

My brother has a ray gingerbread 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.62) locked bootloader. He wants to root it. I read that this version unrootable. I ve once rooted a xperia mini. Downgrade to .42 version using flashtool and root with zergush method (thanks to doomlord). Will this method works on ray as well? Ive read many posts, but im still dont understand. Anyone confirm or help? Thanks

yes, it will work in xperia ray too. just downgrade and root. downgrade to 42 or 58 because both are rootable.

Thanks mate. I ll go tell him.

Update availabe for Xperia Neo- Build 4.0.2.A.0.62

Hi guys,
I Just want to inform you that yesterday I updated my Xperia neo and got 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Does anybody know what are changes since previous build?
Using 4.0.2.A.0.62 I can not root using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su,
So becareful, you may need to wait until some solution for rooting is found.
Is It Available For Neo V Too ... Cant Find In My Region.. Will Wait Till There Is Any Solution For Rooting
Which region are you in?
Screenshot of about phone?

I have rooted 4.0.2.A.0.62.
First I flashed InteksV15 kernel. After I used DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.
it's working
But after it will be running on Inteks kernel. You may need to extract original one from 4.0.2.A.0.62
and reflash it.

Thanks for the method will give a go today ......
I have my neo rooted with locked bootloader and 0.42 firmware.
If I upgrade to 0.62 ,I supposed it won't be rooted any more.
Right?
Any way to root it again with locked bootloader?

I can get the update, but I have an unlocked bootloader so I used flashtool. But I had a conversation with @SonyEricssonNL, and it turned out I have a scandinavian SI number.
I think you can just use flashtool to flash the ftf, also non-rooted.

yes no problem. You have to check the boxes for "wipe data/cache/(dalvik)".
But why do you want do downgrade?
I want to root my device but i afraid if downgrading fw make the device hardbrick.... Just like that for now

ah okay, I think you have not an unlocked bootloader.
Then you truly need .42 .
flash the tft with flashtools.
root with zergrush and cwm with se tweak(er)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
worked perfect in my case. Have done it last week a hundred times (falty rom)
Thanks i will try it ;-)

yes, you are on GB,
see the instructions under GB for root,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Sony_Xperia_U
try this also
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063029
though rooting ICS can be achieved on locked bootloaders where on GB you may need to unlock it !
update to ICS and root, is what i suggest.

I am not sure but if I member correct at least the phone had to be rooted.
Will you unlock via official Sony or test point method?
You also should check via service menu if the bootloader is unlockable.

Just one little note, 77 is baseband, 42 and 62 are not baseband numbers, those are build numbers (last 2 numbers of build number).

No need to be root-ed to unlock bootloader.

No need to downgrade to gb .62 for unlocking bl using S1 tool, you can use S1 tool on ICS .587 firmware also... And DRM keys are crap, if you want to use trackid, download it from play store, it will work without drm keys..

thanks for all your suggestion.. i will try unlocking asap i get the phone and report
