Well i find it Super intereting to modify and loading android onto the touch pad, but i have a asus TF, Works great, Love it.. but wondering would it be worth the hassle just to have a new toy to play with (mearly jut that reason)
i think a Bestbuy 40miles away may have a new shippment in today. but debating weather to go and buy 3 (me, mother, step dad) what your thoughts about this?
I think a better question is, can you find a Touchpad to buy? If you get one, you will definately be happy with the purchase. And if not, there are plenty of us out here that will be more than willing to take it off your hands.

sounds good i would say yes and they is plenty of people who would take it off your hands
You should definitely buy at the PRICE at least for the hardware
yea i know the hardware veiw point im like "what for $99!!" but currently waiting to find as rumor has it.. new sale is bound to happen soon, ( as i read from many forum posts) but i think if i do I will buy it.. but i wont be heart broken if i dont...
Don't forget that if you get a TouchPad, you can also register for 50GB free storage at Box.net (you have to do it via the app on the TouchPad). Depending on what your storage habits and needs are, that might be worth taking into account.
I would say you should not buy it just so I have a better chance of getting another
Why do you need another tablet? That'd be my consideration.

IF you can find one, buy it. Worst case someone will buy it from you if you don't like it.
Also I think Best Buy will limit you to one per customer, at least that's what one employee said his store was going to do.
well thismorning the local bb got a shipment and it was gone before i got there at 10am. Didnt think people of brownsville knew... :| but i think ill give up. Causeyeaidont need another tab, but wanted touse and play with it, moding hacking..etc. , i ill only by if i stumple on a online sale, but i now wont go out my way to buy one, good luck to all on getting a touchpad

one for development/hacking, one for useage. i assumed that would be obvious
I didn't see any reason not to buy it. If you can find one the are practically giving them away. I have a Xoom and love it but I can never have too many toys. Got one at Aarons rents yesterday.

The process I went through to figure out if a TP was really a good buy was to figure out what exactly I needed it for. I just can't justify spending $400-600 on a tablet that's not going to fill an integral part of my technology needs, but $100-200 (depending on size/shipping/etc) is a reasonable amount for me, even if Android never gets ported to it.
The UI is attractive, and there are enough games and apps that I could let my 3 year old play with it while supervised and it wouldn't be the end of the world if something happened to it.
While your situation is likely different, hopefully there is a bit of insight into my personal decision making process in deciding if a TP was a good value or not.
Of course you should buy it...then flip it for 2-3x the price. Then put that money towards an iPad. Then jailbreak and hack to your heart's content and/or develop apps for a viable market.
Then sell the iPad for near full retail right before the next iteration drops and either buy the newest version or three Nook Colors for your family members.

He wants to tinker around on android but he already has a transformer and you think his mother and step dad want to develop on a dead platform?
How are they going to use it? Browse the web one tab at a time? Read e-books with the broken app? Play movies on the gimped player? My guess is you don't actually have one.
My advise is not only solid but it's based on experience with all of the devices in question. But perhaps his parents are xda members
well i know they wont develop on this, i had mentioned to them its a tablet and if they wanted one they can get one (if found) for $100, i told her to look at youtube reviews about the TP, she liked and wanted one.. i wasnt one to mod, toy, develop, and since its not bad hardware. and i dont want to turn around and sell for $250 as i have seen on Craigslist.
we mainly want one due to the firesale Price of $99, but i am unablet to find one so i dont think i will get one. i am no noob when it comes to electronics and software. i wouldnt get a ios device since i dont like the feel of ios, nor apple software. android is nice love it, webos, havent really had enough time to play with it but seemed to be promising if HP let it grow more.nook color is a nice toy, but not really my flavor, now i think ill retire my TF (for modding)when TF2 comes out (Kal-El) platform, so yea

Yeah...so he should go buy a real tablet at full price and not screw people that want to actually develop for the touchpad...
Amazon is coming out with what will probably be a cheaper android tablet soon
To the OP: I hope you find what you are looking for though from your previous comment above. You seemed to thought things through at least
Pending on buying.. worth it?
The only reason why I'm even considering buying this is because I saw that android will be able to hopefully run on this and id like to see honeycomb as well as ubuntu on this and the price has become cheaper. I know you all here have it so i was wondering your personal opinions on the device.

Hannspad or HP Touchpad?
Hello!
Lately I have been looking at the Hannspad, but since the kernel hasn't been released I assume that the custom roms aren't as good as they could be (or am I wrong?).
So I was looking at the HP Touchpad instead, which has very nice specs (better than Hannspad? 1GB Ram & 1.2GHz snap, 10 point touch! Better price) and Android development for it is slowly starting for it, 2.3.5 is working and I hope they'll get it functional soon!
So what are your thoughts? Should I look at the Touchpad and see how development goes over the next three weeks or get the Hannspad ?
I'll buy in the beginning of next month, and I'd like to have a somewhat functional tablet, so what are your thoughts? Will the HP ever get ported so good, that it'll work 100%? How about hardware accel.
Thank you <3

Like the title says,
My previous phone was a captivate that had the in-ear speaker go out on me as WELL as the speakerphone, I mustve opened that thing 10 times trying to fix the problem about 'loose contacts' to no avail.
Anywho I went on craigslist and picked up a brand spanking new in the box SGS II for $350.
Whats your say on the price for a brand new phone with no contract?
A Steal
Great Deal
Good Deal
Bad Deal
Anywho i'm now running UnNamed rom on it and love it!
Does anyone have any other tips for this phone?
Last but not least whats the best 'soft' case for the SGS II? I had the rubber bodyglove case for my Captivate and I loved it. I want something similar for this
This has a lot of good info:
Tips and Tricks
I would say it was a great deal. Ones on ebay are going for around 390-400 for slightly used and 430-450 for brand new.
As far as case, check out the Rearth case, it is pretty well pulled off.
Any person who gets a GS2 for any price is a good deal... best phone ever!
Great deal! I got mine for $350, and an old motorola backflip
$350, no contract? Nice!
(I'd have even thrown in a KFC snacker.)
Traded my atrix for my at the time brand new sgs2 ... Im happy
OOwner even mailed it to me first since we lived kinda far away , that was a first for a craigslist deal for me.
I'd say that was a pretty good deal, its a great phone!!
Case selection is still quite slim, bought the My Case POP case originally but it adds bulk, I just got the SGP Neo Hybrid today and so far I love it, the two piece design should be good protection and the Reventon Yellow is pretty nice

Yup great deal.
you got yourself a nice deal there...hopefully it is not hot lol
I posts $450 out of contact the first week it was out brand new on craigslist and I thought I for a smoking deal. Your deal is amazing to say the least.

Thought I would share this if anyone is looking for a flyer. TechforLess is selling open box and refurbished flyers for $179 and $199. I have no affiliation with this site but I'm hoping to help someone since people are still looking for these. This is a steal and I would order one if I did not already have one.

Nice, I just picked up a second Flyer. Hmmm..Why did I just do that? Oh well I'm sure I can find someplace to use it. Price was just too good to pass up. Good Pre-Black Friday Deal.
Picked one up earlier tonight, can't wait for it to get here. Got the TouchPad up for sale now haha.
Took a risk on this as well. Hope it pans out.

Because it's simply an awesome tablet?
I wish we had things like that over here...
I use this as a Daily internet portal, listening to music on Spotify, ebook, sketch design concepts, taking notes for work. Anytime I travel, this Little tablet is the one thing I take with me on the plane. I don't really play that many games on it, some and it does a decent job for that. So I think these Specs will be fine as long as the Apps I use doesn't require a Quad-Core. Might gift another tablet to myself, but probably sell it to a co-worker who might need the all around awesomeness of HTC Flyer at cost.

Just got in for the $199 Open Box HTC Flyer. I'm so glad I waited. I came so close to buying this afternoon and then I went to work at 4pm to 2 am came home and it was $100 cheaper then the $299 I was gonna pay.
FYI: I just checked eBay and they are still selling for around $290 used.
Looks like they sold out of the refurbs that were $180.

Same here. It was $295 and I almost bought one but went to Best Buy to ***** at them in person for jerking me around. I come home about an hour later (found a friend camping outside Best Buy) and it was $199.49! I couldn't click buy fast enough. Thank you Best Buy but you still suck.

I live in Colorado Springs and have purchased from Tech for less many times, to all that have doubts, I would say you have nothing to worry about and will receive a quality product for the price, the reason they did this is because they had over 800 yesterday and when they have a large amout of inventory they do what is called a fire sale and that is how they move a lot of merchandise in a very short period of time. I wish I would have seen the sale would have liked one myself, OH WELL I guess I just missed out. Congrats to all that got one you got a heck of a deal!!!

Do you have a link to that info? There was speculation of the lapdocks being discontinued, but Moto's CEO said that he saw value & product differentiation by having the lapdocks, and planned to stick with them. Nothing about them being discontinued.
AllThingsD Article: (I can't link yet b/c of my low post count...)

I have the Lapdock 100 for my MoPho. It's a very specific use case, but I enjoy the bump in screen size when I'm lying in bed at night watching Netflix, Crackle, Hulu+, and video podcasts. My TV in the bedroom is *just* old enough that it missed the evolution to TV apps. Anyway, I know some would say to just use a laptop, but I don't want to deal with the heat issue with my blankets and stuff. Also, the compactness of the Laptop 100 is just small enough that makes it really easy to set aside when I'm done. I know...I know.....super nichey, but it works for me.
*Side note* -- My wife doesn't get mad at me anymore for "watching TV" while she's trying to sleep.

Lapdock 500-photon compatibility issues
I've had the LAPDOCK 500 two weeks, the PHOTON since October.
Here is a list of features that currently DO NOT WORK w/the LAPDOCK-PHOTON combo:
1) ETHERNET
2) WEBCAM
3) SD CARD SLOT
4) VGA OUTPUT
5) Possible USB issues (USB ERROR Icon in notification bar)
6) SOUND (just recently discovered)
I'm running the stock O/S on the PHOTON,no mods to the LAPDOCK 500.
I haven't been on much at XDA at all recently,or postwise, much period.
Been relatively satisfied w/the MO PHO's performance,until I got the LAPDOCK 500.
The compatibility issues were a known issue, except for the lack of sound, which was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
I've posted in the MOTOROLA FORUMS,but have yet to get any feedback, good or bad, which brings me here to this forum.
If anyone has questions regarding PHOTON-LAPDOCK compatibility issues,or,possible testing of related tricks,tips,etc.....,I'll try to make myself available as possible. All I ask is some patience, regarding time & technical expertise,as the LAPDOCK is my only "computer" & my expertise in modding is limited to rooting & ROM installation on my previous phone, the HUAWEI ASCEND. PM is the best, most timely way of contacting myself w/any inquiries, but,I will be staying tuned in to XDA on a more regular basis from here on out.
call me cheap or whatever but i would buy one for 100. for 200-300 i can get a netbook or notebook. it just seems to me that the product is over priced. when att had the firesale of the atrix lapdock for $50, they sold 10k units. thats def a high interest in lapdocks.
I'm the cheap one,as SPRINT is my sole ISP w/the unlimited smartphone plan. One service serves three needs:Home, phone,& mobile broadband replacement w/the LAPDOCK 500.
The price may seem steep($300),but,it serves my connectivity needs & saves a fair amount of $ per month. The payback w/this set-up is realized in no time. But,if this is more of a curiousity than an everyday tool,I'm sure the price will drop on the LAPDOCK 100/500 as newer tech hits the market, & then you could find a deal on one.
This type of modular connectivity is the sign of things to come(ASUS PADFONE,UBUNTU for ANDROID),etc... and as this technology finds traction in the mainstream, price drops & added features are sure to follow.

I just got my $149 500 lapdock delivered and can't get it to do anything with my Photon. The webtop won't stay on the screen for more than a few seconds (keeps alternating between a webtop screen and the flashing red moto logo). Is there a certain system update level the Photon needs to be on? I changed the Photon System version to 99.9.9 to prevent auto updates breaking the dockless webtop.
I was thrilled when the Tablet S first came out and really loved its unique design and Sony customizations. But I was invested in other Android devices at the time, and I never purchased one.
But over the weekend, I finally pulled the trigger and got a great deal on a new 32Gb Tablet S with Cradle on Woot.com.
I know I am little late to the party and I don't have any questions - most seem to be answered here. Just wanted to say that I am excited to join up with all of you!

Congrats. Its a one of a kind tablet that is also very functional. A few things that bother me are the wifi instability and frequent ics screen flicker. Hopefully those software issues get addressed by the supposed 4.1 update sometime in a near near future.
I made the same buy and got mine today. Did ICS update and then a hard reset. Everything is running great so far. Only played with it for a bit.
It is a sexy piece... 399+ was too much, but for 260 I felt good about purchase.
