Half an hour ago I Got the 9.4.2.15 firmware update from asus. after the update was applied my prime asked me if I want to turn it off....I approved and the device shut down and stayed off.I tried to turn it on and nothing happened.
When I applied the update I had more then 80% of the battery.
I plugged the phone to the charger and the charger light on the power button changed from orange to green
While the Prime was charging(and after it was fully charged) I tried to do some stuf
I tried to press the on button and nothing happened and no vibration.
I tried to hold the on button for about 30 seconds and the only thing that happened is that I got a vibration(the same you get when you turn on your device).
I tried to reset the device with the reset hole near the microsd with a needle and nothing happened.
I tried holding the power button and the volume button(once the up and the other time the down) and nothing happened except the vibration after about 10 seconds.
ANY IDEAS?
*my biggest problem is I purchased the Prime from "Amazon US" and I don't leave in the us...How If I need do I use my ASUS warranty.who do I connect?
Thanks.
Try draining the battery completely then charging it back up. Then try to boot it up again. You might have a glitch or bug. Its always good after an update is applied to let it update then it reboots itself. After it loads back up,go into home screen. Then **** down device and cut back on. This will eliminate anything happening from rogue codes.

*By the way I have the option to take the prime to a shop that could fix it, I am sure the problem is a software bug and not hardware...Should I try doing this because ship it to asus ans back will take about 3-4 weeks.
Try a hard reset and if that doesnt work do a search for this (EP201_SDUPDATE.ZIP)

I am unable to do "Hard reset" because the device do doesn't start, after pressing the power button nothing happens the screen stays black. the onle response I get from the device is vibration(after I hold the power button for about 10-12 seconds).
I don't think that "EP201_SDUPDATE.ZI" will help because I don't have accesses to my bootloader
Did you happen to drop the device or bang it pretty hard? If so, could be a chance the connector to your display is loose and device is actually on but the screen is off. Best way to check this is to connect your prime to your t.v. thru HDMI. Then try to cut it on. If something displays on your t.v. but screen still won't cut on, then connector came loose from your display. That is the best way to check. Plus you could also operate tablet like that.
Nope,didn't drop or hit it.
Unfortunately I don't have HDMI cable that connects to the prime.
your idea is good but even without the cable I am sure it's not the problem...but lets say that it is the problem...then if the device is actually on I should be able the hear the sound it makes when I use the volume buttons and when I receive new emails...the thing is I am unable to produce any sound from the device.
I just applied my update and it didn't ask me if I wanted to power down, it did itself. Did you power down when it was starting to install?
My screen did say "power down" but I knew it would do it itself.
Maybe like doing a battery pull during a flash?

Maybe you are right and for some reason I turned the device off while it was in the middle of the update... so 5hat means as you said that I interupted the flash process...in this case the problem is the software of the device ...could I do somthing to fix it without going with it to a lab?

You might try inserting a pin or a paperclip into the reset hole next to the micro SD port.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
I decided to try and fix my prime one last time before I use the warranty. so I took a needle SMALLER one then I used the first time I tried to "Hard reset" the prime and inserted it into the hole near the microSD port....and this time I felt a "click"...I pressed for about 10 seconds and then released and the screen turned on
I immediately got the screen withe the open green robot and with a blue line under it that showed me that the update was applied....then the screen changed to the screen you get when you turn on the device(asus symbol and tegra3 symbol) and again I got a blue line showing me that the update is going on.
After the blue line went foreword to 100% it disappeared from the screen and I was left with the screen you get when you turn on the device(asus symbol and tegra3 symbol).
I have waited for about 20 minutes and nothing happened....I turned off the device with the power button and then turned it on again(this time the device responded after 1-2 seconds)...I got a vibration and the screen was on(asus symbol and tegra3 symbol). after a few seconds the screen changed to another screen( another ASUS symbol with a turning circle under it) after about 8 seconds my device was fully working all my data was present(didn't reset with the needle should have deleted everything?) and my software number was 9.4.2.15,so the update was fully applied.
I tried turning on and off the device for a few times and had no problems with it.
So basically the device is working and I have no idea what was the problem
The tip i got for everyone trying to reset the device with a needle/paper clip....YOU HAVE TO FEEL THE CLICK
that's awesome! Congrats!
These are expensive toys (in my case addiction).
Maybe it was a bad flash which can be really spooky if you're not rooted with a custom recovery.

I'm very much new to this, so please take it easy on the terminology, and insults.. :/ Just to be clear ive never rooted this phone or flashed it or anything like that.
I was using my phone and the battery ran really low and it died. I went to turn it on, and it wouldn't turn on, so i charged the battery for a good hour. I press the power button and it vibrates, but the screen stays black.
after that i tried doing a hard reset, so with the phone in that black screen, i took the battery out so it would turn off. Put it back in, followed the instructions for hard reset from the VZW website (without turning the phone on, because i'm still unable to do so), and nothing happened at all. I gave it a couple tries and still nothing.
Then i took the battery out, put it back in, pressed the power button. I felt it vibrate again like last time. So in this post-vibrate state, without removing the battery, while the screen is still black with no power on, i did the hard reset. It vibrated and then now the 4 touch buttons at the screen illuminated, and the backlight turned on, but the screen itself was still black.
can anyone help me out??

When the phone is completely off. Battery pull. When holding down (Vol Down + Power). Does the HBOOT (white screen) appear or is it still black?

I would say go to tje Verizon store and have them charge your battery. If it takes a charge and powers on then it prolly your port.

Just wanted to bounce this off you all and see what ideas I got back..
Device:
TF201 Rooted with NVFLASH installed, upgraded to jellybean from craiggomez's post here. Also have TWRP installed.
This install has been running for several weeks.
Scenario:
I'm just returning from a trip.. I unpack the prime and turn it on and it powers on just fine. Plug it in and let start charging and walk away. four or five hours later I hop in bed (yes, I fanatically watch TV from Plex while laying in bed) and look over and see the green light on the prime is on. I pick it up and unplug it and hit the power button to turn the screen on but get no response. I'm thinking sleep of death at this point.. Hold the power button in for 10 seconds expecting to get a vibrate and a reboot... Nothing.
I've plugged it up to a PC just to verify it wasn't on and it definitely isn't.
I know that the moment I unlocked the bootloader I voided the warranty with Asus.
Are there other steps that I can try at this point to verify that it's truly dead other than what I've done?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
(Moral motivation to upgrade to the Tf700.. Hmmm I'm thinking so. )
I'm thinking SOD, also. Hold the power button down longer and see what happens. I seem to remember mine taking a while longer than 10 seconds (more like 20).
You could also try that little reset button in the little round hole about 1" below the microSD card slot. Just unfold one end of a small paper clip, and you can reset your Prime by sticking it in the hole.

I'm starting to think not.. I tried the reset button, held power for a minute, and tried power + the volume rockers.. Still dead..

I used a straightened staple and achieved the same result.. I actually felt the reset button push in and release when I backed off with the paper clip.. Still no change. Do I have to press this button in tandem with another or is it a solo button?
Have you tried booting to recovery?
Also..could it be that your charger cable is defective, and that you arent getting a charge (meaning your battery is sill dead)?

UPDATE:
Went out and bought a TF700. The charging cable on it is the same. Tried that.. Still no activity. I'm starting to think it is genuinely dead.
I appreciate all of your replies.

Did you have this charging on the dock? I once had a similar scenario where it wouldn't turn on and then I plugged the power cable directly into the prime bypassing the dock and it came on with full charge.
Congrats on your new toy. How does it run in comparison?
Did your rear camera work. If your done with your tf201, I'd like your camera if your not gonna do anything with it.

Nope, I don't own the dock.
I did find something strange though on the power plug though.. See the attached thumb..
I wonder if something shorted when this broke?
I looked at the tf700 and it isn't like this..

I'm thinking of trying to get it repaired.. If not i'll toss it on ebay and let you know.
I've installed DRH JB 4.1 successfully 2 months ago. It has been running nicely since then. Today I decided to upgrade the ADW launcher EX. It all went fine.
I left the tablet on the table. A few minutes later, I came back to find it remains off. I tried to press power button for a few seconds, w/ or w/o holding + or - down. Nothing happens. Plug in the power, nothing.
I connect it to my PC (did that as a step to install DRH JB 4.1). But nothing happens either.
What can I do now? Is it completely dead?
Thanks
I've cracked open the back and press the reset the button. It boots up but won't respond to touch screen, soft button or hard buttons. I reset it a few times and about to give up. Then I put the back cover half-on (not snapped), it somehow worked. It responds to hard button, soft buttons and touch screen.
I felt lucky but want to try more. So I reboot it. Now, it only respond to the hard buttons, but not soft buttons or touch screen. Feeling I no longer need the reset the button, I snapped the back cover on. Now it goes dead again.
Has anyone seen this before? Any loose end?
Thanks
I just had this happen to my tablet today. Installed CWM 5.0.5 (for BL 1.2), installed the new Paranoid Android ROM played with it for a few minutes, went back to install market, which worked fine, logged in to start downloading apps. Played some angry birds, exited, admired the tab for a few seconds, turned off the screen, and then set it down. plugged in to charger. unlocked screen, made sure apps downloaded, turned off screen again, set down.
10 minutes later, picked it up, tried turning on the screen and all I got was black. will not respond to any button presses or anything I do. I would rather not crack open the case as I just purchased it, but will do so if that is the only thing aside from sending it in for repair.
Hope someone has some advice or help. Did search the forums for other ideas on what to do, but it seems like the only way to make it wake up is the hard reset. Someone please prove me wrong! :silly:

What you are having is a well known SOD that is caused by the Kernel we are using for right now. There are other options besides cracking the case and pressing the internal reset button. You can let the device drain its battery on its own. The best way I know of is to connect something that charges USB to the tablet so that the tablets power will die a lot quicker, MP3 player, Cell Phone or anything that can use a good charging up would be the quickest route. Then after plugging in almost everything and making sure that the battery is fully drained on the G tablet press and hold down the power button just to be safe and discharge what ever is left. Charge the Gtablet fully from red to green and then boot it back up and all will be good. Its a long process to take, but if you don't wish to open it up and drill the hole this is the alternative way of doing so.

Yup. That's most likely it. Loose ends. Check the cables going to the digitizer and the soft buttons.

Is there any diagram/photo showing where to check? Would really appreciate it.
What would be cause that the hard button does not work (power, volume)?
Thanks

For your problem, start reading from this post onwards. Pics are here.
I decided to open gTablet again. This time, things just come back to normal. I checked every wire and connector visible, but can't find anything loose. I am afraid to snap the back cover back so I am leaving it loose and put it back to the case. My plan is to drill a hole on the back cover later to get access to the reset button. But I doubt whether that will really help.
I am checking the pictures against mine. All looks normal. Checked every visible wire and connector. Nothing seems to be loose.

The symptoms point to a hardware problem. A visual inspection might not be enough.
Try pulling all the relevant cables out completely (at both ends), then plugging them back in again.
Then do a "Key Test" in CWM (under "advanced"). Post the key codes along with the keys pressed.
If all the keys don't show up, then get me a dmesg output:
Code:
C:\> [B]adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt[/B]
You should also check that the cables don't have any breaks in them (flex the cable while doing the Key Test) or have their insulation stripped somewhere. This latter has caused some problems before.
I tried to tighten all the connectors.
All keys passed the test.
Keeping my fingers crossed now.
Last night i fell asleep and my phone died all the way, and now when i plug it in all i get is a lg logo then it goes away and then a dark lit up screen. ive let it charge for awhile now and i still get nothing, i cant get into cwm either.. the phone is unlocked and rooted and im running the base rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Happened to me... leave it on the charger at least 3 hours and check it. The battery completely drains when you unplug the charger if you charged with the phone off. gl
Edit: If it still won't work, turn phone on and plug in charger.

This happened to me too. I completely drained the battery and it kept going into a loop (black screen, LG logo, battery screen). I left it plugged in and off and let it boot up.
FYI
This has happened to several people. I have confirmed through testing, even exchanging my phone 2 days ago that this is an issue created when unlocking the bootloader. Rooting does not cause it. Once the bootloader is unlocked, you can not get around this by re-locking the bootloader.
The workaround is simple. Either leave your phone on while it is charging or if you charge with phone off, unplug your charger and hit the power button- you will still see the charge animation running- this is what causes the battery to drain. All you have to do is power up the phone at least to boot then it is ok to turn off. You can confirm it worked by touching the power button again and not see the charge animation. Hope this helps.
Wow thanks so much for the reply and help! I've got it working now and I guess I'll just avoid it by not letting it die lol

If you let it die all the way, its not a big deal. Plug it in, hold down the volume down button and the power button for 15 seconds, then it will work fine.
Threads like this makes this forum so great. Another potential problem to be avoided when using the phone.

I could use some help guys, if this thread isn't too old. I've searched high and low to the answer here and nothing is working. I've tried download mode, fastboot, recovery, reset, holding power down, plugging it in and unplugging it. I've pulled the plate off of the battery, tried LGNPST, drivers, etc. No go on anything.
The phone is still dead, and will not turn on. The best I've gotten is a solid red light after holding the power button for 15-20 seconds. Then after about 3-5 seconds it resumes flashing (alternating between the red light and the key buttons). If I continue holding the power button down it will repeat this, showing solid red and then reverting to flashing.
I can not get the screen to display anything, not even the charging animation, and none of my computers will even recognize the device. I've been messing with it all day and I'm stuck. If anyone can help me, at all, please do. I hate going to Sprint. Anything but that, please.
