[Q] Upgraded from Froyo to GB, now phone wont boot without USB - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Here's what happened:
1. Original firmware was Froyo 2.2.1 S5830DXKC1.
2. Flashed to official Gingerbread 2.3.4 S5830DXKPB with Odin 4.38.
3. Rebooted into recovery and wiped cache, data.
4. Rebooted phone and started as normal.
So I off it and tried switching on, failed, nothing happened, just black screen.
Also fails at starting in recovery mode.
However I tried and was able to do these:
- While connected to USB, went into 'Downloading' mode.
- While connected to USB, went into recovery mode.
- Went into Ramdump mode without USB.
It only boots when connected to USB, and fails without it.
Did I installed a wrong firmware?
Kernel: 2.6.35.7.perf-CL514579
Baseband: S5830DXKPB

Try rebooting in recovery mode .
May I know which variant of the S5830 are you using ?
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?

[Q] I9100 CAN'T BOOT - bricked

Hi guys, really need your help!!!
Been using Custom ROMs since Omnia HD. Loved the work of cookers, never had problems, ODIN is just so easy.
Four days ago, tried to flash I9100 from Lite'ning v5 to 6.1. So, as recommended I wiped cach with CWM, and then done proper FORMAT.
Once I pressed it, format started but didn't finish - the phone restarted, and continued to restart - stuck with boot "S" animation - so can't boot into system.
Then, tried as suggested to install VANILA latest firmware - tried it - didn't work. Keeps freezing in the middle of the process in ODIN - or - it says FAILED. Now, i can't use CWM - if I press Volume UP +HOME+POWER, i get "Mobile phone with yellow Triangle with PC signs" - left to the right.
Updating to the VANILA software doesn't work, so as Lite'ning V6, or any other versions of it. Without CWM, i can't boot from SD Card to other cooked roms, so please, any ideas will be MUCH APPRECIATED !!!

I have never tried this before myself, but I have seen some people recommend trying an emergency firmware recovery with kies. If someone else can chime in and correct me if I am wrong, please do so.
emergency firmware recovery with kies - will try now, and update status...
Solution doesn't work

This solution doesn't work. Because, all that I can do is to log into DOWNLOAD MODE, once I connect the phone via USB to PC with Kies ON, then the Kies doesn't recognise the phone in this mode, so there is opportunity or possibility to do an emergency firmware recovery - if anybody knows anything abt this - please comment ....

Put the phone in recovery mode with Volume UP +HOME+POWER (it won't be CWM because you tried to flash stock, it is samsung's recovery mode), "Mobile phone with yellow Triangle with PC signs" and try it.
Let me know how it goes.
just checking... when you flashed through odin, was kies turned off? Meaning not even in the background and it's (process) not present in task manager?
Because that's what happend to me when i tried to flash a kernel to my SGS2. odin failed too but good thing my phone wasn't bricked.
Anyways, I would recheck the custom rom you downloaded, it sounds like the file was incomplete, or damaged during download. Always check the MD5 checksum, or at least the filesize.
Some custom ROMs cannot rebuild a formatted userdata partition. Most custom kernels cannot do that, so doing a factory reset (wipe userdata partition, format data partition, etc) is not recommended.
FIX:
Boot into Clockwork Recovery
Format cache, format system, format boot, format userdata partitions
Boot into Download Mode
Use ODIN to flash to Stock ROM
Boot into Stock ROM
Flash Custom ROM (Lite'ning), DO NOT FORMAT USERDATA and DO NOT FACTORY RESET!!
Boot into Lite'ning
CM7 using codeworkx kernel (CM7 kernel), is the only custom rom that does not have a rebuild userdata partition problem.
for my i9100 i solved this problem
i have the same issue and i solved with my i9100:
unmount battery and leave it for 20 sec
push up vol and home and keep it then put the battery !!!!! put vol up and home still pushed
if ....if you entry in recovery mode wipe data and cache and .... voila...
sorry for my bad english...hope this will work for you guys !!!

[Q] How to unbrick samsung galaxy s2

Having recently installed a miui rom, i found that my phone has become brocked. I can go to dwonload mode, and I can turn it on but there is only a blank screen. Does anyone know how to unbrick it?
Thanks
go into download mode open up ODIN and flash a stock ROM. Simple as that.
you should buy a jig to get download mode. Did you tried recovery mode ?

I flashed the CF Root Kernel (XW_CLK_KF3), but it failed in Odin

my t-mobile galaxy s2 is dead after ICS upgrade failed
i am noobi. my galaxy s2 went through 2 stages before becoming dead.
1. i tried to flash I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar using odin. it got stuck in connection mode. then failed. when rebooted the phone, i got a message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue".
2. now, odin still sees it. I tried different ROMs then the phone becomes dead. the phone is dead even after pressing the vol up+vol dn or any other key combination.
Now, windows 7 reports driver error when connecting the phone via usb. Linux sees the Qualcom modem, but heimdall failed to detect the phone. Any suggestion beside throwing my phone in trash is appreciated.
If you can't get into download mode (home/power/volume down), only thing you can try before you send it back to Samsung or get it JTAG repaired is a jig, which unfortunately is unlikely to work. Still worth a try tho.

I had the Exact same problem as you this is what you need to do.
1. Take everything out of your phone micro sd ,sim battery
2.Get your Usb Port and connect the first side to your pc but not to the phone
3.Insert Battery
4.Hold the vol down butt and at the same time connect the Other side of the cable into the phone then you will see
DOWNLOAD MODE!!!!!
5.From there install your sock rom again using samfirmware.com
6.Done

[Q] My galaxy s2 doesn't boot

Today, while my phone was in my pocket, it rebooted itself and stuck at boot screen of galaxy s2. I didn't make any changes on the phone, it was running good. What can cause a problem like that ? I have some pics and videos on internal memory of the phone, i also don't want to lose them.
Thats what i tried :
* Download mode
I tried to re-install stock kernel to phone using odin, but odin didn't see the phone using usb cable. So i've failed to install new kernel, or any non-wipe firmware.
*Also tried recovery mode
Done a cache-wipe, the phone still crashes on boot screen.

When you say re-install stock kernel, did you flash another kernel?
Odin is not detecting your phone? Nothing showing up in ID:COM when you connect your phone in download mode?

[Q] Galaxy S2 hangs on boot screen..no recovery mode

I installed the latest nightly build (cm_galaxys2_full-88.zip) on my phone yesterday night and restored the all the apps through Titanium Backup. Everything was working fine until this morning I tried to create a backup using CWM recovery in Rom Manager. The phone shut down and has since been stuck on the initial boot screen (one with the Samasung galaxy S2 logo). It does not boot into recovery mode using the button combinations. I can only get it into download mode but Odin does not recognize it as I thing i forgot to enable USB debugging.
I have tried removing the battery and rebooting and also tried to access it through odin a number of times. But nothing seems to work.
What am I missing here ?
This might help?

I cannot boot into recovery, but I can boot into download. However, odin is no longer recognizing my GS2 when I plug it into my PC.
The bootloop began when I was attempting to flash the cyanogen7 with the google apps.
I read every post in this thread, and have seen a number of people who cant boot into recovery, but can boot to download. I haven't seen anyone else mention that their phone is no longer recognized by odin on their pc.
Please help.
edit:
Perhaps odin doesn't see my phone because I didn't have USB debugging enabled? if that's the case, what can I do?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
solved:
heimdall overwrites a driver and stops odin from seeing your phone. i attempted to remove it, unsuccesfully. but loaded odin onto a different computer (that had never seen heimdall).
i booted into download, connected to 2nd pc w/ odin, and ran CF-Root-SGS2_XW_NEE_KI8-v4.3-CWM4.tar (search forum) in PDA. this made my phone bootable again.

Thanks. Although that did not do what I expected it to (due to some license issues), but it got me into recovery mode from where I could restore a Nandroid backup. Am back on RevolutionROM for now. Looks like CyanogenMod will have to wait for me.
I experienced the very same thing for the first time today. Had checkrom revolution and ran rom manager to backup and am now unable to boot into recovery/download. Will try to hook it to odin then

As I know you can't but if you are unable to enter in Download mode using combination keys you can use JIG USB in order to get into Download mode.
