This problem started tonight. I just returned my first EVO 3D on Monday morning, because of problems. I am on second EVO 3D. The first EVO 3D I got on the 24th had intermittent charging problems, where the light wouldn't go on all the time, and had problems charging. It turned out to be a bad port. I had no problems exchanging that EVO 3D. The second one seemed to be fine all day Monday and shut down and charged with not problems Monday night. Today I used it all day and just went to shut it down just like I always do, and plugged it in to the charger. No red light came on at all. I said, oh no, hear I go again. I went to turn on the EVO 3D and nothing happened. I would not start at all. I decided to pull the battery out and put it back in after a minute, and, of course, everything is fine now, at least for tonight. If this happens again, tomorrow night, Wednesday, I will bring it back to Sprint for one last exchange. This time I will try another Sprint Corporate store, instead of the one I got the first two. Hopefully the third time the charm. After three exchanges, I will give up on the EVO 3D, and probably wait until the Motorola Photon comes out. I really hope this doesn't happen, because I really don't like BLUR and I do like the EVO 3D.
Anyone else who had this problem in the last few days, are you still having this problem or have you already exchanged it?
I am hoping this is a one time thing,
Try turning fastboot off. It's under power in settings

On some phones, there is an issue where if the USB cable is plugged in, you won't be able to turn on the phone. Had this weird issue myself, but realized it's the USB cable.
check your mem card.
if you've had 2 devices do this I'd say the device is not likely the issue.
or its possible this was patched in the OTA updates
try it without your mem card
change your usb cable
change your outlet your using.
i had the same thing happen to me within an hour of getting my phone on launch day. took it right back and they swapped it out for a new one.
they said i was the only person this happened to, but i said check the internet, its happening to others.
they tried the taking out mem card, new mem card, diff cable, pulled the battery out and put it in a new 3d and it worked, so its not the battery, letting it sit for a while, nothing.
i think something just fries on the motherboard and kills the phone randomly, but if it doesn't happen within a few hours or so of you getting the phone you should be good.
I find it real funny that people are so butt hurt when things happen to a phone when it first releases lmao. Come on now its new tech you guys go through all the trouble of exchanging things when it doesn't work to your liking when you should know off top that it ain't gonna be perfect when you first get it.

when you say "aint work to your liking", you know were talking about not working at all right
I had a defective one that kept rebooting and i was using it on the charger. The finally it stopped rebooting but then screen would stay black but still backlit after Sprint message. Sometimes you just get a defective product out a bunch since things are made in bulk you usually find out in the first few days while charging. Happens on a lot things. Haven't any problems with my second. Btw photons tegra 2 isn't even close to as powerful as the Snapdragon 3 so you would be getting a lesser phone months later.
This happened to me earlier today. I powered it off to save battery for later since it was getting low. When I went to turn it on... it just wouldn't turn on. After pulling the battery, it turned on right away.
The first EVO 3D that I returned on Monday only had an intermittent charging problem. I never had a problem of it not turning on, it just would not charge at times. The one that I got as a replacement, brand new EVO 3D, worked great yesterday, with no problems. I shut it down like I normally would do at the end of the day. The battery level was at 20%. I plugged in the battery charger (HTC one that came with the phone) and nothing happened. I then switched to two different outlets. Still the same. I got a different USB cord to see if it was the cord. Still the same problem. I had a travel charger, and tried it to see if that would make a difference. Nope, it still didn't work. So, that is when I decided to pull the battery. After pulling the battery and putting it back in, everything worked fine. I did notice that the phone was warm last night after extensive use of the phone all day. My daughter and I put it through the ringer, testing all the different features, ie, games, pictures, movies, internet, email, music, etc. The battery life was actually great yesterday. I do have the Otterbox Commuter Case on the phone if that makes a difference.
This morning after recharging, the phone turned on with no problem. I will have to see if it does it again tonight, or was it a small glitch. I guess this is why I have a 30 day return/exchange policy. I did do everything that people had suggested. I put in a 16 GB 6 speed microSD card in it, and tried the 8 GB that came with the phone also.
Problem might be caused by Update!! Read My last post.
A little update. I was on the phone with Tech support about the problem of the phone not starting up and the battery pull was the only way to get it to work. So he wrote down all the of what I did. He had me shut the phone down to see what would happen, since I had it on since early this morning. Sure enough, it wouldn't start again. He told, don't do anything and leave the phone alone and go to the Sprint store to exchange it. Well, I am now off to the store to get my 3rd EVO 3D. Hopefully 3 is my lucky number. Anyone else having this many problems. I must be the most unluckiest person.
This happened to me today. I was on the phone, battery died. I plugged it into the car charger, never got a charging light. Waited till I got home and put it on my home charger, no light. Pulled battery, back to normal.
I had the same troubles. Wiped phone took updates and it was fine for a few hours then Frozen. Sprint sending me out a new one. Hopefully second times a charm.
This happened to me today, but differently. I had about 35% left on my battery, so I plugged it into my work computer to charge before I left for the day. I had left it alone for a few minutes, and went to go check Facebook. Interestingly, it wouldn't turn on, nor was the charging light on. I pulled it off the cable, still wouldn't turn on. Pulled the battery, put it back in, wouldn't turn on. I plugged it in, and the computer recognized it like it was turned on. It tried to install drivers for QHSUSB_DLOAD. But the screen wouldn't come on, nor would the charging light come on. Ended up having to take it to the Sprint store and they gave me a new one.
Definitely a shocking experience for a phone only 6 days old.
I have no problem from day 1

SAME thing happened to me, needed a replacement
and here was my experiment (Across multiple posts, none of which gathered many ****ing replies. Interesting how this one is)
At first I thought it had to do with my 32gb memory card, then I thought it had to do with fast boot, then I thought it had to with hacking, then I thought it had to do with certain cables, then I thought it had to do with the extension cord, then I thought it had to do with using a USB 3.0 extender cable. Needless to say it was none of those.
Check my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137683
I could reproduce this every single time without fail as long as I had fast boot off and powered down the phone with the charger in it.
After a while of trying to understand the cause, I broke it even more to the point where it wouldn't turn on regardless if I had a memory card in there or not, as long as a cable was plugged into the charging port, it would cease to turn on! At any rate, I went to the Sprint Store yesterday, and none of the floor models had that issue so I swapped it out. After battling it out with a Sprint Tech who thought he knew what he was doing, he eventually caved--as if I couldn't get a replacement anyway since within 30-day return policy. So far, my new EVO 3D isn't doing this, but you best believe if it does, I'm returning it and getting a Nexus S 4G instead.
I'm not sure if I should try a hard reset to see if it'll fix it... or just ask for a replacement.
I had something weird happen. Not exactly the same issue, but odd. My phone has been giving me awesome battery life, I typically have been getting 16 hours of medium or so use. I charged my phone to full and took it off the charger at 1am to put by my bedside so I can use the alarm clock. I wake up late, my alarm didnt go off, so I click the power button on the phone and nothing happens. Phone wont turn on, I tried a battery pull.
I took the phone to a Sprint store and the tech tells me it powered up when he plugged it in, and that my battery had died during the 7 hours it was sitting on my night stand, and I've been getting over 16 hours a day on the battery. I found this odd, he put it on the charger for 15 minutes and my phone was at 50% battery so I dont really believe that it was a completely dead battery. There are some weird issues with the phone, and I rely on it for my alarm. Should this happen again, I'll probably return the phone and just wait for newer hardware revisions, as I love the phone.
Well, I got my third replacement EVO 3D today. I took it to the Sprint Corporate store that I got the first two. I went right to the Manager and had her help me with the phone's problem. She said there was no problem in exchanging the EVO 3D after seeing it not start up. She pulled the battery, just like I told her she should do, and said it most likely would work fine after the pull. Sure enough it worked again. I talked to her about what would be causing the problem with now two returned phones. She said that other Managers were talking to her about the problem, and they believe that it was caused by the update Sprint and HTC pushed to the phone . She told me I should not do the update for the phone until a new update comes out. I am going on Vacation in two days and I need to make sure I have a working phone, so if my phone will work without the update, that is what I will do. Sprint hasn't admitted yet there is a problem, but it sounds like internally they know something is wrong. If anyone else is having this problem, I would go to Sprint store or wherever you got the phone, and get a new phone and not update until a new update is available. I intend to call Sprint and let them know after a week or two, if my phone is working properly, that the update was most likely the problem.
What's the AC charger you use? I cannot meet this issue with HTC EVO 3D official AC charger. Maybe you use another brand's Micro USB charger but not HTC EVO 3D official AC charger.
i swear i have the worst luck. haven't even had the phone a day and already i went to check the time and the phone was off and wouldn't turn back on, had to pull the battery. now just a few min ago i felt a vibration in my pocket so i took the phone out and it was starting back up "starting services". it must have rebooted in my pocket.
if i go back into the sprint store for this they are not going to be happy to see me again after all the strings they pulled to get me into this phone after being well out of my 30 days with my 3d.
Edit: i just went to sprint and they tested the battery and said it was bad. maybe that's why it was charging so slow? hooked up to the charger the phone died while using it. that seems way too slow right?
Edit again. The new battery didn't fix my problem.
Ask for a new back cover. There have been numerous post about how some back covers are not a tight enough fit allowing the battery to break contact which results in a reboot. Sprint appears to be aware of this as there are reports of stores having spare back covers to give to people who request them.
mine had the updated cover with the rubber/foam inside. the phone was faulty, they replaced it and it looks like the problem is solved.
last night when i got the phone and i put it on the charger i started using it and it sucked the 15% of battery out when on the charger. i started charing at 7pm and by 2 am it was only at 50%. pretty sure some thing was wrong with the phone. this new one charged up in about an hour.
Mine does the same at random times of the day.... went to sprint and they told me it was a software bug... that sound right to you guys?

Mine has been fine since it was replaced.

I've had my phone reboot first thing in the morning when I first turn it on. When it happens, it reboots twice and then no problem thereafter. It's done this three mornings so far, rebooting twice each time. It's happened both before and after rooting. I wonder if it has to do with being fully charged and reboots until its no longer fully charged. Luckily it's not every morning and it's easy to live with until the update is released. I know we have the leak, but I'm waiting for the official update.

ok cool ill look to replace mine then.
I had the same issue with reboots when I first started it up after it activated it would restart few times. Then today I had 60% battery life left and I powered off the phone and started it up again it said I had 3% battery left. Not sure whats going on. Also I am having bluetooth headset issues. My top of the line motorola finiti constantly loses connection and has to regain it. I have also experienced the call audio issues on several occasions. Unfortunately for me I was given this phone by Sprint and can't return it for another device. My only recourse is to wait till Motorola comes out with a firmware update.
So during work one night my phone felt hot in my pocket, so I took it out and noticed it acted as though it was off. I took the battery out, waited a minute or two and popped it back in and turned the phone on. It again got pretty hot so I turned it off, but it still stayed hot. I took the battery out, then I waited a few more minutes and put the battery back in but I did not turn the phone on. Again, it was getting hot. So for the rest of the night I just left the battery out.
I had to work the morning the next day so I still left the battery out. But I did pop it in during work to see if I had any calls/texts. Took it back out after though, and left it out until I got back home. I had the phone turned on at home, but just before I left for the verizon store, the battery died. Plugging in the charger didn't work and I couldn't get the phone to turn on at all.
They sent me a new phone in the mail, so I planned on charging the battery in the new X2 they sent me and then putting the battery in my old one to get my stuff off the phone. But now, even with a full battery, I can't get my old phone to turn on, but it's still getting hot when I put the battery in.
All I really care about is getting some files off the internal storage. Is there ANYTHING I can do before I send it back? Thanks for any help.
Unfortunately I had that exact same problem. They sent me a replacement and I had to return the faulty one. I could not get it to boot at all whatsoever. I was told to leave the battery in the faulty X2 and plug it into a/c power using the official eco moto charger (usb w/ wall block) and leave it until the battery charging icon appears, which never did. I was pretty much hit. Asurion (Verizon's insurance who replaced my phone) also told me that since my handset was getting extremely hot, there was several "legal issues" involved and the customer service Rep could no longer help me. I had to wait until the next day for a Manager/Supervisor to give me a call to go about replacing it.
Wish I had more technical help for you, but I was in the same boat and sadly I lost everything that wasn't on the removable SD card...
Edit: those were before my xda days, maybe someone here can actually help you get your files.....

I am on Stock ROM ... when I got the phone almost a year ago, I rooted it, and eventually went to GB, and didn't root it (only rooted back then for VPN access).
Yesterday, midday, phone vibrated about 3 or 4 times, and then randomly rebooted. Screen wasn't even on. I wasn't using it.
Last night, I was listening to an audiobook, and it started vibrating again. about once a second. This went on for about a minute, so I pulled the battery. Now, no matter what I do, it wont turn back on. If I plug it in to the charger, I get virbration. When I take the battery out, while it's on the charger and put it back in, the charging screen comes up, and immediately disappers. Occasionally, I am able to see the SAMSUNG logo (two of them) and it fades.
I haven't done anything "unofficial" in the last day or so..I did update a couple of apps right out of the Play Store, and for the first time, ever started using Google Play Music and Samsung "Music Player" app. Neither of which should have been able to fry my device! One thing that I noticed is that it was pretty hot when it started vibrating.
Should I mess with jigs and Odin etc, or just warranty it out? I'm afraid to void the warranty trying to fix it...?
Your power button is stuck.
thanks - but i don't think that's it. i hear it clicking... how can i know for sure or fix ?
I called ATT, they are sending a warranty replacement. I think something related to battery... if i leave it on the charger long enough, I can get the Samsung logo to light up. after a while, it stops doing that. Also, the battery was pretty hot when I pulled it. Going to stop by a ATT store to see if they would be willing ot let me check my batt on a display phone, or their batt on my phone - so I can stop the warranty shipment.
Haven't heard of a stuck power button causing the heat issue as you describe it, although I suppose it's possible.
But I'm leaning toward the battery condition as well.
My opinion on the exchange is to take the warranty phone if you have any questions about damage being done too the device.
And although it's nearly impossible to tell without diagnostic equipment and such, I'd be willing to say that damage is likely with an excessive heat condition .
Your call of course .....g

So for the past month I've been noticing issues with my S4. I will pick it up, only to realize that it is off for some reason.
Last week one day I woke up and noticed that it was running in the "high-heat" mode. For some reason it was really warm. And even though I left it on the charger over night it was at around 50% charge, In the time it took me to go to the bathroom and come back to my bed it had lost nearly 5%, and all that i did was check my email and open the facebook app.
Over the past couple weeks I have been noticing that sometimes it uses power faster than it charges.
Each of these issues was resolved by popping the battery. I am only using the stock charger and cord. I have been using Hyperdrive for a little over a year (not unlocked bootloader).
A few minutes ago I picked it up and it was off. I turned it on and it had 1% charge (it had 100% 12 hours ago, and I have barely used it at all today). I am unable to use it. I put it on the charger and it will automatically power on. It will power on to 0% power, then shut down. then it will power up again at 0% and then die again. I have tried popping the battery, but it is not working this time. It is getting very warm around the camera lens while it is trying to charge, I'm also getting that "slow charging" message, even though I'm using the stock charger and cord. I checked the battery and I don't see any bumps or anything, it is completely smooth on all sides.
I have had it since release day, and there is not a single scratch or ding anywhere on it.
I do have the full extended coverage from VZW/Asurion. Can I walk into a VZW store and ask for a replacement battery instead of swapping the phone? I live out in BFE and none of the VZW stores around here have the "tech centers".
Hm... I wouldn't expect the battery to go back after a year. I think it could be due to some software bug. Try and do a clean wipe to whatever build that you're on and reinstall hyperdrive with safestrap. If that doesn't fix it, then its probably some issue with your phone.
P.S. If you are going to the VZW store make sure you are on stock touchwiz without root.
Just a quick note..
Be sure that you do not have any apps(ie. Dropbox, G+) that are uploading data(mainly pics) in the background.
I ran into a similar issue only to find that I had inadvertently enabled "auto-backup" of my pics/vids in DropBox..
