Sorry for a n00b question but I couldn't find the answer searching through the forum.
Is it advisable to install Apex Launcher on top of the Energy rom as opposite to running a custom rom with Apex integrated?
Thanks
Dan
It all depends if you want that launcher.

Will definitiv try out Nova since they appear to be visually similar. I'm using apex on capromce right now and really like Apex but also wanted to try out the infamous Energy rom with Apex/Nova.

Are these launchers in the Market cause I can't seem to find them.
And is TSF short for something?
Thanks.
I think a market search for "tsf shell" will bring it up. $$! They're all on there I believe. " name " + "launcher" should work for the others unless there's some market restriction that you're dealing with.

Was wondering if any good senseless rom besides Scott's senseless rom.
Am using Scott's senseless rom right now its nice and stable .So i think thats the only one rom without sense. If any other XDA guildies know about any senseless rom for EVO 3D please let me know. Thanks
Depends on what exactly your looking for,
There are a couple of roms that got rid of sense, these include miui and cm7,
You also want to look for aosp roms, these are all senseless...
Smokin420 has a wonderful little tool that should remove sense from any rom you want search the developement thread for it.
I've personally tried miui and its pretty sweet, once you figure out all the lil tricks and shortcuts to stuff. They still have a long way to go tho. Miui will never have 4g tho, as it came from Japanese developers who have no use for 4g, and the camera was borked when i used miui(might be fixed now, might not be)
went back to scotts cleanrom2.7 myself
If I've helped hit thanks
Shot from my shooter in 3D

Do most people not use the HTC sense widgets? I'm thinking I should try a non-sensed ROM next.

HTC widgets are admittedly cool, but since I started rocking Launcher Pro Plus, I've since stopped using them. The 4x4 icon grid in Sense was the dealbreaker for me.

i liked htc sense widgets but then i slowly kept swapping them out for "beautiful widgets" and "minimalistic text" widgets now i don't have any sense ones at all
Since I can't decide on which one to use.. im gonna make a poll.
They are both great.. I just cant decide.
I hope Xboarder56 doesn't mind.
Try em both that's what I did. And I have to say I llike both of them. Lol

Is poll threads the new trend? If u like sense go with bulletproof if u like aosp go with bestmod. Idnt see how the results of this poll will influence your choice.
Lol I started the whole poll thing!
Beastmod is Aosp like and has a very good battery life. I used one of the older versions of it and it was very good. However, bulletproof is whole sense with tweaks added, I've been using it since it was released and it is very very good. Whether you prefer Aosp or sense just like my poll lol

They're both excellent and speedy ROMs. I had BulletProof as my daily driver for a while as well as BeastMOD and you can't go wrong with either. If you like the Sense eye-candy, then by all means, BulletProof is for you, but if you don't care much for Sense and would rather save some battery life and RAM, then BeastMOD is what you want.
How about both

It depends on your taste, I like a sense rom so I use Bliss but if i did use a 3.0 it would be Bulletproof plus you have that beats audio on it so its an up if you like music. You also have a very customizable UI its a rom you can really personalize in my opinion.
With all the great devs here, I'm sure we'll have this soon enough!! Check it!

After watching this... HTC did too much with Sense. They're just overdoing it now. Give me a slice of AOSP and we're good here.
It's also still up on Droidforums.net .. at least I just watched it there a few minutes ago.
I think it looks good personally, but I am coming from the OG droid so Sense is basically like a theme to me and I haven't noticed any lag compared to the slowness of my droid so its all good.
They just took it down at Droidforums.net as well

The smoothness of everything, the look that's different from android and customizable, and I love the launcher. I hate when things are ordered alphabetically, things get moved around each time you install an app. With miui everything stays in place, and it's easier for me to get to an app since I usually remember the location of said app. Plus apps that I install and forget about later are easier for me to notice on miui as opposed to other roms.
I just started running this rom. I like it, im using dark ice them tho, and as long as i can find away to get sprint voice mail app to work i think i will use this rom for a while.

I most like the smoothness, nothing else compares. 2nd favorite is battery life. And 3rd part favorite would be the customization.
Smoothness and customization. I love how easy it is to apply themes and switch things up so easily.

The 3d is pointless on these phones. I stopped using it cus the cam would crash and 4G was never going to happen. It's an awesome ROM though. I just used launcherpro over it and got amazing benchmarks with it. My favorite thing is that its very functional. Seems like the UI always surprised me when i would find something is right where i want it to be in logical places.

You would need to define your criteria for "best" first.
For me, "best" ROMs are ROMs that give me better speed, more features, and similar stability to stock. I also keep my devices for a pretty long time. So as they age I look to the community for support in keeping up to date. Hell, I still have a Tegra 2 tablet (Gtab) and my old Hero C laying around.
In this respect, I have had very good luck with ViperROM on the LTE. YMMV

I believe the apk has to be modded to work with sense. I tried restoring some aosp system apps on a sense rom and just got FCs. Clean ROM used to have a bunch of modded apks but I think it's been abandoned...haven't seen any out there for 4.1.2 yet.

This is always going to be a question that never has the perfect answer. It depends on what you want/need. Go sense if you want the classic evo look and just want the basic experience its for people who don't care as much about making the device faster and better, they just want it to work and the only real reason they rooted it was to get rid of the bloatware. Keep it simple stupid. Honestly sense is fast, but aosp is is much more reliable and stable. Sense kernels have that small chance of corrupting your file system if and when your device crashes. It's a small chance but a chance none the less.
AOSP is by far the best for the ones who do want to unlock the devices full potential. AOSP (Android open source project) roms are more difficult to create and perfect but they give these devices more potential but its also up to the user to do his or her research. Don't flash or tweak even the slightest thing until you do your research and search xda and google. When you find a guide that of course isn't too old and you know you can trust it, read it over and over and bookmark it. Always search xda but never listen to the opinions of others until you test it yourself.
These rom creators work hard and they expect us to know what we are doing.
tl;dr - I will just say this, if your willing to spend more time to give you the best experience go AOSP. And if you go AOSP go CyanogenMod and nothing else. And for the kernel if you do wish to use a custom kernel I hightly recommend Komodo if you want an even better user experience.
Best rom is...
... the one that works best for you
FWIW. I love the ViperRom. Phone feels like it just "works" and, if I want, there are lots of customizations available.
That said, I just switched to HatkaLTE because I wanted to stay with a sense rom and it seems to me that the last update of ViperRom reintroduced the original rom's sensor problems on my phone. [I say seems because it's still not perfect, just better, on the HatkaLTE and maybe the hardware has developed a defect]. I can't say much about this rom yet because I haven't had it on my phone long enough and because I'm also playing around with different launchers at the same time.
Good luck!

IDK, but I'm really excited to install the new VIPERROM
Very, very excited. Hopefully it (re)fixes the proximity sensor problem, but if not, I have the init file all ready to solve the problem myself!
I have to agree with many of the posts, it's more of a personal taste question. I've run almost every ROM at some point, and I love the speed of AOSP, but like the features of Sense. There are a few key features that you lose on AOSP. After a whole lot of flashing, I've settled on SuperJelly Bareback, it strips out all the bloat of Sense while retaining those key features, and is almost spot on with the speed of AOSP. It's my happy medium. Good luck and happy flashing.
If you dont need Bluetooth, Sense 5. Otherwise Viper or Super LTE.
