I have moved from Orange to 3 (UK)
So i flashed the 3 version of the ICS4 firmware as on:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galax...wnload-the-i9100h3glp2-firmware-at-carrier-3/
That worked out fine.
I did a backup before.
It shows that it has backed up my SMS:

When i go next
Wont let me restore them.
By flashing the 3 rom, your phones become just a i9100, no longer a i9100P. Probably whats confused Kies, thinks its a different phone and wont restore personal data (contacts, calendar etc)

So if i flash it back to Orange i would be able to retrieve that info?
alternatively, you could install a SMS backup application from the play store and restore your messages
Personally, I dont TRUST Kies. I use third-party back up tools for the job.

Would still have to flash the orange firmware and restore them to the phone before i can back them up using an sms backup app?

Via the backup function in recovery Mode.

Turn the X10MP on. Press repeatedly on the back key when nAa kernel logo shows.

Shortly after CWM Recovery starts.
You navigate op and down with the sound volume buttons on the side of the X10MP, select an itim with the start-buttom (the middle button), and goes back in the menu-system with the back button.
Select backup and restore > backup, wait for the backup to finish.
I took a backup of my ROM when it was in a broken state (wouldn't boot past 'Samsung i9100' logo), I just want to restore my apps if possible.
At the moment it looks like this

Is there a way to just restore the 'data' part of this because it seems to be split into 2 files (the .a and .b ones) and I can't access the .b file?
I think, Titanium Backup has an option for restoring stuff manually. (not sure)
And then there's also an app called 'Appextractor' in Play store (free, with a seperate pro key) that can extract apps from Nandroid backups
PhilZ Touch recovery allows you to restore specific partitions.

Yes, but the content of /data and /boot is very much related to the system you have installed, so partly restoring will almost always fail.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yep. That's exactly right. Be very careful about restoring partitions from one nandroid made of one rom/setup into another; can go spectacularly badly if you don't know what you're doing. Do what MOT suggested & get AppExtractor.
Hi guys,
Had issues with Pie over Christmas so downgraded to Oreo. That went okay but I appear to have lost all of my saved WiFi networks... They're all backed up through Google aren't they and I'm sure they've restored in the past with my other devices so I don't know what's going on?
Any ideas? I've got a OnePlus 5.

Thanks for the reply! Thinking I may not have restored a previous backup? I might wait until I go with a stable build of Pie.

The backup I want won't go anywhere unless I delete it, will it?
Hi all,
Quick question,
I have a full backup (every partition) made on my SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 EDGE, this phone has broken a while ago
I just bought the new one, exactly same model [S7 EDGE], same CPU, same 32 GB version,
I want to root the new one, install the same TWRP version and restore my own backup from broken one,
The question is, during the restore process, should I restore every partition to have everything working properly?
I mean about screen as below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I am not sure if I should restore partition as: modem, boot?
Thanks for your suggestions,
any suggestions please?
Restoring TWRP backup to a new phone
I have to move to a new phone. I backed up my old one to the SDcard. I placed it in the new phone and booted into TWRP. When I enter the restore menu, I go to ext card and it doesn't show any backups. I am not sure why TWRP does not see my sdcard...

I'm going to change the device. However before that I'd like to be able to backup all txt messages that I currently have on my phone. Could someone recommend an app or way to do it? Would it be possible to import all txt messages back to the new phone?
If txt messages you mean sms, it can be done in many ways. If they are other messages, you need to specify which ones you mean. Also specify both phone models.
Yes, sms and MMS messages. Google Pixel, Android 12
Use standard or pro.
SMS Backup & Restore - Apps on Google Play
A simple app that backs up and restores SMS & MMS messages and call logs.
play.google.com
Import the SMS*.xml backup file after transferring to a new device using e.g. PC to maintain full privacy. If not, use your cloud.
if you're looking for Windows solution, try MyPhoneExplorer it can backup SMS + MMS.

after exporting, connect new phone and copy %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer\<device>[<IMEI>]\SMSArchive.dat into other phones directory, then you can restore all messages from archive back into phone.
Thank you both!
