Can I uninstall the following apps on my phone without any problems?
com.sonyercisson.localcontacts
Network Location
Status Bar
I would highly appreciate it if someone tells me the consequences if there are any for every app, and what they are.

What can I do to avoid problems? Is there a way to back it up?

Install titanium backup from play store. It can back it up and restore too.
Sent from my X10i
Instead of deleting any of them just freeze them with titanium backup and if you get any problems afterwards just unfreeze them and you'll be back to normal.

Is there a way to completely remove the stock messaging app without messing anything else up? If so, what do I remove? I'm rooted tuning warm two point three. Thanks in advance!

If you have Titanium, you can just freeze it and it won't show in your app drawer. I am not sure if you can remove it and still have messaging work, but here is a link to remove it from the zipped ROM via 7-Zip file manage(free) that Scott put together. Check it out as you can remove things you don't want and add things to the ROM zip to your liking. He also updates on what to leave alone. http://www.scottsroms.com/showthrea...od-CleanROM-before-installing-v1-0-10-12-2011
Completely removing the stock mms.apk will totally break all messaging function.
Damn, I guess I will freeze it and see what it does, thanks guys

I believe that freezing it will do the same thing as well.

When you say will do the same thing as well are you talking about removing from the app drawer or killing all messaging functionality?

Have you tried to send an MMS? The last time I did this back on the OG Evo, SMS worked fine, but MMS wouldn't work anymore.
I just need to know how to remove the CM7 settings from cyanogenmatt cause it seems the phone just all around works better without them. I'd like to keep the screenshot though, can anybody help me?

Use a root enabled file manager and browse to system/app, and delete cmparts.apk,cmstats.apk and cmupdatenotify.apk. Be sure to make a backup first if anything goes haywire...

I think you need a new settings.apk with the section removed, such as from void forever or else you have to live with it sorry

Actually CyanogenMod settings are integrated into most apps (Including the Settings app) so it is virtually impossible to remove them.

well, why void forever does not include cmsettings then?
Can someone refer me how to lock phone and contacts in memory. I know there is an option in jay's framework but I don't need whole framework just this option. No problem in editing apks and so just need to know what to edit.

Just use JKAY Framework its easy, and trust me once you do you'll never want to run your phone without it.
There is a thread on here about locking contacts and messaging in memory. Search and you should find it

Hi after I have installed several apps , played with the input and phone languages, installed a new keyboard, and ultimatelly received this "unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" error the effects when I click on an icon on the screen are gone, the wavy effect is just not there and I have searched the whole phone for solution.
R: [Q] No effects when clicking on a desktop icon
The several apps right there might be a problem...or the rom is buggy (many are).
So tell us what rom it is, what android v, what apps youve installed that required root access.and if youve modded.any futher the rom or enabled mods already within the rom.

yes, and it's due to the ripple effect LWP

The rom is the standard one that I reckon comes with the phone.
I haven't had modified anything apart from installing apps and updates.
The phone is not rooted in any way. Nor have I modded or inserted into the rom.
I have updated to jelly beans. And the latest applications I have installed are koffice, swift key, poker stars, and I am quite sure I have been changing settings but nothing visual.

Moreover, I now noticed all my contacts names are deleted and haven't ot a clue which number is which. What's up with this phone ??!#*!

Are all those from Google Play ???
I would try a factory reset .

Some of them are, but some I have downloaded in a different way if you know what I mean. Hopefully I haven't caught a virus or something like that. Now, a factory reset will erase all my data right? And what else?

A factory reset is better than resetting a factory i guess....
Factory reset really seems best.
Just make a backup of your apps (use titanium backup) and then restore them
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
that's interesting, because as far as I know, the ripple effect on the desktop (not the lockscreen) is not included in the stock ROM. are you sure you're not talking about the lock screen? you can enable the ripple effect by going to Settings - lock screen
Yeh I am sure. I'm sure that it was there for some time after I have updated the os. Then again I have installed a great deal of software which I think had made my wavy effect disappear?!
And can I do a backup of the apps with no root access I don't think it's a good idea to play an expert and damage the phone beyond repair. Thanks!

Aye, what do I have to do? If you just give me a link to the most current method used, please.
The phone is gt-i9300 international. Thanks!
read the basics
I realise that. But there's a lot of people who suggested all sorts of different ways doing the same thing. All in all if you flash the rom solely don't it enables root privileges in a more effective fashion..? Thanks!

The most effective fashion is the most complete one, not how you do it.
If youre speaking of flashing through odin modified parts of the rom so you can gain root access..then yes thats what i did (just look it up on youtube, make sure you write galaxy s3 international (if international version) and android version of your rom).
If youre speaking of flashing a custom rom which comes with root access already unlocked, you need to have root for that.
Its easy you can find it on google or youtube. Best method for now (or perfectly working one used by the most people) is flashing some stuff through a programm for pc (or mac i think, but im not sure) called odin. Then i advise (once you have root) you boot into the phone and install from the play store rom manager. Thru this app you may install a new recovery (basically safe-partition of disc, think of it as a bios or firmware for a pc. What u need it for is to save ur ass if u f***k up your phone, or to make COMPLETE backup images of your device so that you may restore them later on. It can also be used to flash other recoveries and therefore replace itself, or flash other roms or kernels. Its a MUST HAVE for anybody with root)

use any method, it does not matter at all.
but rooting will not get your ripple effect back. If you said that you had it before you installed something, then factory reset
Thanks!

Hi guys !
how can i put in the whitelist some app ? sometimes i hate android memory killer;in this way i ll be able to choose when that app has to be closed.
I hope i was clear..thanks for the help
Try Xposed framework, search it around XDA
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Unless its contacts / phone. Not even Xposed works with that well.
i read on xda some guide, these saying to add some strings in build.prop..i tried but nothing..
with framework like jkay and xposed i can lock app in memory,my aim is to find a way for locking app with the original framework. Is it possible guys ? thanks
I'm curious: why?
in this way i can put sms app in whitelist, so android memory killer never kills sms app=no lags because it remains in memory
