Just a quick question, I'd like to start creating my own miui icons but how do find the full name of the apps? So I can rename the icon file.

I would like to have a transparent notification bar then I looked inside my framework-res.apk and I finded some png that looks related to status bar (status_bar*.png and statusbar*.png).
I edited these images adding transparency and flashed framework-res.apk to my phone (getting no errors).
Nothing has changed, do anybody know what images have to be changed to modify status bar?
Thx
The files related to the statusbar are .9.png files so they need the draw 9 patch and i dont know how to so that so just google it

Hi, thanks for reply!
So do you mean all status*.9.png images?
I have the same issue but it is not with the files. I found if I switch to the system theme in the theme chooser all my changes are there. Does anyone know where to edit a theme to make changes to the frame work?
if your still looking for transparent statusbar, you can use my cooked rom which allows transparent statusbar
The systemui.apk has to be modified for a transparent statusbar.
Search on xda or google how to do this.
Or use the advised ROM from above.

Im creating my own rom for the htc flyer and i've removed some apps that had icons on the main homescreen and lock screen, now when I install my rom they are blank spaces.
my question is how do i change the layout of the icons and widgets/lockscreen for people installing my ROM?

If it has any version of sense 3.0 or better you can't. The tools have not been updated yet due to HTC changing the coding
It's not.. 3.0 how do I edit it?

What you need to do is probably different based on what launcher your using. You may want to check out this thread. Somebody lists an XML file that you can edit for Sense and Android Launcher, and I just posted a method to restore ADW.Launcher's icons, widgets, and settings.
I'm not really sure where do go for lockscreen mods, as I have not made any myself yet.

As long as apktool works for the apk in question this should would. I don't really mess with sense, touchwiz, or blur so i have no real idea. By using my knowledge of AOSP then you should open the launcher in question. navigate to
res/xml/
there should be workspace.xml files that you can edit. Then you have to repackage the apk with apktool.
If you have the apk handy as well as the framework-res and com.htc.resources.apk and send them to me I can take a look as well

For the lockscreen you will need m10 tools to decompile the HTC m10 files and edit the layout in Idle lockscreen base apk and fusion apk. Editing HTC Apks are not like editing any other type of apk as it uses the m10 encoded files. Its alot more difficult then normal apks as they dont use the same folder set up
I want to replace the stock icons with illest theme icons from kgill7.. is there a way with out using a third party launcher to do this? Right now I'm using apex launch with white frost theme for the skin and illest adw icons. It looks nice, the only thing is that apex doesn't change most of the icons even tho its in the theme. So I been snooping with root explorer to see if I can just rename the .png and push it to replace the stock icon. But I've had no luck so far. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Not sure if it's what you're talking about exactly, but I changed the icon of a stock HTC camera apk one time. Used 7zip on a PC. I had a camera apk that had an icon I really liked, but a newer version of camera with stupid icon came out.
Anyhow, I put both apks on desktop. Opened with 7zip. Browsed the pngs til I found the main camera icon. (Think it was called launcher.ic.png) just swapped the PNG into the camera apk that I wanted. Didn't have to sign apk or anything. Just don't extract the apk to browse its files. 7zip lets you browse without extracting.
Not sure if this was the kind of info you were lookin for. Sorry.

I like Nova Launcher becuase of all the various options it allows and it also allows you to change out the icons for virtually any of the aps you add to your desktop - I personally am using ADW icon Pack and a Launcher Pro Icon pak (both work with Nova just fine) Not sure if this is what you were talking about - but I hope it helps -
desktop visualizer will do that for you.. change icons without using a launcher
Thanks I'll look in to that n yea I know how change the icons on the desktop just really want to change the icons in the drawer as well but thanks for all the responses

N yea I thought about looking through the apk to see where the PNG was, but in system/app on the root of my phone. Tried looking, but no luck. :/ guess I'll try to back em up n see if I can just re install.

I have found a way to actually change the icon, unlike desktop visualizer where it only creates a short cut of the app, this app actually modifies the icon to which ever one you choose. It's called ninjamorph. I take no credit found it on another forum just don't remember what forum.

thanks that seems to be exactly what I was looking for. only problem is that Im finding trouble tracking down what folder or file I need to replace inside these apk's. Ive been able to switch out some except for some like the dialer and calender, etc.

Hello to everyone in the dev community !!
Well my question is clear: How to add CM settings to the app drawer or settings app?
I'm currently developing LeWaOS rom for the htc wildfire. It's based on stable CM7.2
The CMsettings apk is included in the rom, i can go through the CMsettings by making shortcuts on the homescreen for it. BUT can I include it as an individual app in the app drawer so it becomes easier to access ??
If not then is it possible to add it to the settings apk ?
Thanks in advance
*Bump*
Anyone ??

I know you will have to decompile both and add the right lines from the CM settings to the Settings,it has to do with a XML file.Sorry i'm not sure where or which line it would be.

Hey, I want to port the AOSP 4.1 lockscreen to stock motoblur 4.1 for the DROID RAZR.
I want to know where is the lockscreen located.
What I know is that a part resides in the Framework-res.apk, but is it just there? Or is it splattered in other places of the framework?
Also, I want to know what parts inside of Framework-res.apk are the one that compose the lockscreen please.
Thanks in advance.
You can change that with the app called nova in Google play store

Decompile you're framework, go to the res folder and search for lockscreen, that should find any and all files you're looking for.
